Ella Shali's home

In the whole month we spent in Sri Lanka this was a real stand out experience. From the first welcome to the amazing cooking, Shali made our experience in Ella a very memorable one. The beds comfortable and the room is very quiet at night. The generous breakfast with a beautiful view each morning, sometimes with monkeys in the trees. A short 15 minute walk in to town or a few minute tuk tuk provided by the homestay at a very reasonable price. The dinners she made us were the best we had on our trip. We loved our stay, thanks Shali.

Incredible experience, the host availability and breakfast are excellent. I recommend the place, 10-15 minutes walk from the center. She helped us to rent a scooter for a cheap price.

Preis-Leistung war absolut super. Außerdem ein echt tolles und reichhaltiges Frühstück. Außerdem wurde ein Wäscheservice und Scooter für uns organisiert. Rundum super.

Een fijne, ruime kamer met een koelkastje. Daarnaast zeer vriendelijke eigenaren die met je meedenken en iets regelen als dit nodig is. Het centrum is ongeveer 15 minuutjes lopen.

Rustig gelegen, ruime kamer, goed ontbijt. Erg vriendelijke host. Haar broer heeft ons met zijn tuktuk gereden of ander vervoer geregeld.

Het ligt wat verder van het centrum, vonden wij juist fijn, maar wel ruim kwartier lopen (of even met de tuktuk).

Hele lieve eigenaresse en heerlijke comfortabele kamer met zelfs een eigen koelkastje. Ook het royale balkon was heerlijk. En het zeer uitgebreide ontbijt. De broer van de eigenaresse bracht ons overal heen voor een zeer redelijke prijs. Kortom, helemaal top.

Alles was goed geregeld. Het was een kwartiertje lopen van het dorp wat niet echt erg was maar dat was denk ik het minst fijne.

De prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is super! De eigenaresse is super vriendelijk en stond steeds voor ons klaar. Het ontbijt was ook erg uitgebreid. De accommodatie bevindt zich net buiten het centrum maar daarmee zit je bijna in de jungle wat we een toffe ervaring vonden (alhoewel de hele kleine vliegjes wel vervelend werden op den duur).

Voor het comfort zou een airco heel prettig zijn

Honestly the best place in Ella! The room is huge, almost like a villa with my own balcony with a very nice view!! It is also equipped of everything you need — hair blower, refrigerator and even raincoats and umbrella are provided (very thoughtful 😊). The room is very clean and the bed is huge!! And the pillows are just the best, always having a good night sleep after a long day of work and sightseeing. Shashikala also makes very delicious breakfast, she’s so sweet and she always checks on you. Amazing service and just really really beautiful place! I love working in the balcony, all you can hear is the sound of nature, which is very relaxing! The cat who visits there is also very sweet 💗 Thank you Shashikala, all the best to you and your family 🫶🏻

The internet signal is not the best but it’s understandable as I think that’s how it is in most places in Ella. I was still able to work so it’s all good and not a problem at all 😊

Nette Unterkunft etwas außerhalb des Zentrums. Sauberes Zimmer mit großer Terrasse und vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten. Leckeres, großes Frühstück. Restaurants, Shops und Sehenswürdigkeiten sind auch fußläufig mit kurzem Spaziergang erreichbar.

Beste Homestay van hele reis. Shali was fijne gastvrouw. We komen ook ‘s avonds daar eten. Broer regelde en vervoerde ons met tuk tuk naar activiteiten.

The best pillow I slept on in Sri Lanka! Such a great stay, everything was perfect and the view from the balcony was superb. The hostess cooked us great breakfast and we also had dinners there, delicious! Away from the busy hassle of all restaurants but still in walking distance.

Amazing breakfast, super friendly host. Peace and quiet surroundings with only wildlife as background noise. Room was perfect and it has all the essentials, even a fridge! If you don't mind walking, the major tourist sights are about a 35 minutes walk away (to the start of their respective trails)

The green surroundings do require a bit of a stroll to get into town. A 15 minute walk does the trick, fine when it is dry, less fun in a downpour 😄. There are tuktuk drivers once you are at the main road should you wish to give your legs a rest.

Lieu calme à quelques minutes de la ville, en hauteur Petits déj fabuleux et repas excellents. Vous mangez sur la terrasse avec les singes ! Lit confortable et le tout est propre et bien entretenu. L'hôte est adorable, aux petits soins et souriante. Je recommande ce lieu pour votre visite à Ella !

Accueil sympathique et souriant de la propriétaire. Le petit-déjeuner était copieux et varié. Le lit est très grand et plutôt confortable. Belle et grande terrasse qui donne sur la nature. Une grande moustiquaire couvre l’entièreté du lit.

La chambre est très, très humide, cela laisse une sensation de moiteur sur le corps, le lit et les vêtements. L’accès au logement est compliqué par un escalier raide et un chemin boueux à notre arrivée du fait de la pluie de la veille. La douche est mal placée et détrempe le coin WC qui ne sèche pas du fait de l’humidité.

Very kind owner, beautiful balcony with an amazing view, outside of the city centre but not to far away. You can easily walk from there to the centre and the tourist attractions like the nine arch bridge. On our last day we had to leave very early and even got breakfast to go, very sweet. Would definitely come again :)

The place was very clean and comfortable, which made my stay really pleasant. The owner was very kind and welcoming. The breakfast was also delicious.

It’s a bit far from the center,

Замечательная весёлая хозяйка, круглосуточная связь по вацап. Большой балкон, удобная кровать. Горячая вода в душе от нагревателя. Когда отключили электричество в Элле, в апартаментах электричество прекрасно работало от генератора! Великолепный завтрак в удобное для вас время.

Я бы очень настоятельно попросила соседей внизу не жечь мусор на улице. Весь дым идёт в окна.

Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is echt uitstekend. Voor deze prijs in Ella een 10+. Hele aardige familie. Kamer was schoon en ruim en een heerlijk balkon met uitzicht op de natuur. Het ontbijt was lekker. Bij aankomst kregen we een lekkere verse juice en als we in de middag bij de accommodatie waren kregen we heerlijk vers fruit. Naar Ella is het 10-20 minuten lopen.

De wifi werkte niet zo goed

Obiekt położony trochę z dala od centrum, ale w zasięgu spaceru, dzięki czemu zapewnia ciszę i bliskość natury, przemiła właścicielka, bardzo smaczne lankijskie śniadania. Skorzystaliśmy również na miejscu z usługi prania i było bardzo okej w dobrej cenie.

Dość strome podejście do obiektu, nam nie przeszkadzało ale warto mieć to na uwadze :)

V Ella Shali’s Home jsme byli ubytovaní 4 noci, pokoj byl prostorný a čistý, postel pohodlná a okolí klidné a krásné. Do centra Elly to bylo jen pár minut pěšky, případně tuktukem. Hostitelka Shali byla moc milá a ochotná. Pomohla nám s plánováním výletů, dala nám spoustu tipů a postarala se o to, abychom měli všechno, co potřebujeme. Každé ráno nám připravila výbornou snídani a na večeři skvělé domácí jídlo. Určitě moc doporučujeme.

Nice room, warm shower water on request. Even a hairdryer available. Host offered fruit, tea and juice several times. Even cooked dinner for us at request, the best we had in all of sri lanka so far, especially the jackfruit curry. Very lovely host who was always available for questions. Even helped us organise a tuk tuk to the train station, also offers to organise laundry. Location seems a bit outside but we actually found it perfect, very quiet (unlike the busy center) and surrounded by nature. Can easily reach the traintracks and walk to ella or ellas rock.

We enjoyed our last minute Stay. They were easy to communicate with through WhatsApp. When the wifi ran out, they made sure to add more so that we could work. The breakfast was very good. You can see monkeys and peacocks from the front balcony. Hot water was sufficient. The only thing we didn't like was the strong smell of mold. There is mold all over the ceiling by the bathroom and outside of the bathroom. If you are sensitive to mold like I am, this could be a problem. It may be hard to avoid in this area as it was so rainy and allt of moisture gets trapped

It was a really nice accommodation! It was a very calm environment. In front of your room there was a balcony where in the morning during a really nice breakfast (when it is not too hot yet) the sun is shining comfortable on your face. The host was really kind and friendly and she even helped me taking care of my wound on my knee as I had fallen just before reaching the place. In conclusion I can absolutely recommend the place. It is a bit further from the center, so if you want to be close to the center, you might want to reconsider. We however enjoyed the tranquility a lot. Walking to the main road takes ~15 minutes.

Our stay at Ella Shali’s Home was absolutely perfect! The room was spotless, with a huge and very comfortable bed. The breakfasts were delicious and incredibly generous. The host was extremely kind and welcoming. The location was stunning, and the hotel is perfectly situated—just a pleasant walk from the center of Ella. Everything was ideal for us, and we even extended our stay for an extra night because we loved it so much!

Shashikala was the perfect host. I am traveling solo and she made me feel like home. The homemade meals, the afternoon teas, and all the directions and recommendations made me feel super welcome. The place is located a bit outside of Ella, which is really nice to get away from the crowd. The views are amazing, the space is cozy and super clean.

Room was very damp and so were our clothes. A lot of steps and steep slopes to access which was hard for me.But I am 73 and have some health issues but younger ones probably be fine. Just think it needs mentioning. In

Shali just has started her business, she is very caring, the location is a quite and simple area, we liked it very, especially in nice contrast to the busy and crowded center of Ella, that suffers so much of overtourism. If you go to Ella and do not like the masses, go to Shali´s!!!

Very nice and clean place, everything was new and comfortable. The hostess is very nice and attentive lady, greets you with tea every time (tea and coocies, but one time monkeys stole our cookies from the plate :) ). The place is up a hill, but it's in nature, surrpunded by trees and monkeys sometimes. Breakfast was huge and delicious, it was a lot of different stuff with delicious tea or coffee. Highly recommended.

Shaky is a really nice person. She offered me very tasty meal for dinner and breakfast.. the room is perfect, and there is a comfortable couch outside, which is nice to lay down. You have a hair dryer and a lot of plugs at your room. Highly recommend to any Traveller :)

The place is near the center, the room is perfectly well equipped, confortable and quiet. The host was adorable, she behave like a mom with me, it was so nice meeting her, she make rice and curry for me and omg it was the best rice and curry of my trip to Srilanka, the breakfast was very good and huge quantities! I recommande this place !
