Lovely location, so pretty. The staff were very nice. We had the afternoon tea which was amazing.
Room was a little dated but very clean
Food was spectacular
It was under renovation when we arrived which we didnt know about when booking
Good location.

Beautiful setting and very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, easy parking. Clean bathroom and sheets.
Room was cramped, the bathroom was tiny, the floor/carpet was old and dirty. The room above had restless guests and there was no soundproofing, the floorboards creaked and groaned. Very heavy duvet during hot weather.
The setting of the hotel was beautiful right on the water front. The staff were all lovely and the food in the restaurant was really good.
Prachtige omgeving.
It feels like you are miles away from the city quickly. Lovely setting and great unique interior.
The hotel is well situation, the facilities are however run down.
A 2am fire alarm which the staff seems to find amusing and were unable to science without the help of another guest. This is concerning as the overnight staff member was clearly not adequately trained. Rooms were not cleaned properly. The aircon in the room was broken and the lounge area was closed for refurbishment. Over all a poor experience.
I was asked to pay £10 per hour for early access to the room, when it was clearly ready to be used never had that ever before
Fabulous locationl, stayed in cottages - easy to access & dog friendly
Booked 2 rooms, stayed in cottages, they all need maintenance, accessible room 7 waa very practical & clean, room 8 smelt of damp & had cracked glass in one of the windows
Location
Hotel was clean , tidy and welcoming
Room was quite cold Hotel was more remote than I realised
The property was situated on a very pretty sight
We were put in the cottages which was detached from the hotel Whilst the room was clean . The cottages were in need of repair , gutters were full of dirt and spilling over when raining The bannisters were broken leading up to the cottage .
Beautiful place, relaxing surroundings, lovely staff who were very friendly, and really forthcoming with relevant information.
The bathroom in the cottage room was minuscule - the shower 2 feet square. The door to the room could have looked better - it looked very scratched.
Fabulous location next to the river, extremely friendly staff, amazing breakfast with great quality produce. Very dog friendly. Great value for money
We stayed in the cottage which was very tired, scruffy, felt unkept
Lovely location
Nothing Just a little tired needs a little tlc
Nice location, great staff, clean room
Unable to sleep as it was very warm, couldn’t open a window due to the noise from a wedding party that went on until midnight, still noisy with windows closed
the location was good , breakfast was good
the room was not cleaned properly , i can see few spider web and spider in the room
Stunning location. Beautiful breakfast.
Quite a few Spiders in the netting of the room was the only negative. All friendly staff apart from breakfast waitress.
Die Lage
Wie üblich,Hundezimmer !
Fantastic location, comfortable room, powerful hot shower, good food.
Room a little tired, bathroom needs some attention, leaky tap, could do with a soap dish on sink.
Location
The room smells damp….. dry damp and just old and worn out. Won’t be staying again
Perfect location very near to Donnington racetrack. Dinner was excellent, good choice of food. Buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful. Overall a nice place to stay, staff very friendly and a beautiful setting tucked away in the countryside.
Stayed in one of the cottage rooms. It was clean but in need of sprucing up, it was a bit tired looking.
The location was excellent for an event at Donington Race Circuit. The restaurant and lounge area was pleasant and the food was very good
The cottage room was dated and dirty in places.
Most of the electric socket is old design (3 round shape socket), not the usual UK standard, not using friendky
Considering the very reasonable price, we were more than happy to book a night, to break a long journey, and were really pleased we chose it, as it’s in an absolute perfect little setting, nestled on the banks of the river, still displaying huge iron waterwheels from when it was a mill, the former mill cottages where were we stayed, divided into en-suite rooms, that obviously get a lot of use, but are very clean and comfortable … and again, considering the price point, well within expectations. The receptionist, on our arrival, couldn’t have been any more helpful, dog friendly bar and restaurant meant we didn’t have to find somewhere to eat, food was modern, tasty, and well presented, and staff were friendly and attentive… despite being close to East Midlands, noise wise we had a peaceful night, and woke up rested, had hot powerful showers, and were ready for the next leg, after taking the opportunity to walk the dog by the river before heading off. we will happily use this place again, next time we are passing through … the main hotel looks like a nice place to stay too, and the big riverside gardens and outdoor areas make it a great place to eat and drink.
Not worth the money. Fire alarm went off in the night for no reason and I actually helped the young guy on the desk to get the system turned off when we had found out there was no fire.
The location was very picturesque with the river directly opposite. The area was quiet. The reception area was light and airy. The rooms were nicely laid out with useful additions of an iron, ironing board and safety deposit box. The shower was great with good water pressure and the bath was large.
The bar area looked dated and needed a clean from all of the marks on the walls, cobwebs and spiders. The outside seating area- wobbly/breaking seats and tables. The bed was very uncomfortable- hard, squeaky and seemed small. A fridge in the room would have helped with the heatwave so water could be stored
Amazing location right by the river. Very beautiful. A good large car park
Getting a bit tired now. It was insanely hot the weekend I went and lack of air conditioning was a problem. Windows couldn’t be opened as the room is next to woods so bugs fly in. So didn’t get any sleep.
Location was great, staff were pleasant, especially both bar staff.
Rooms over the stream were a bit tired.
Lovely peaceful location, despite being close to the airport! Breakfast was excellent
Proximity to Castle Donington
The cottages were extremely dated and the ventilation extremely poor. There was only a very small window for ventilation and to cap that there was a light directly outside that attracted numerous bugs. A very poor night's sleep in very uncomfortable beds. As we booked for 2 days I was only refunded 50% of the second days stay and nothing else. Would have expected better even though I asked the service desk so unfortunately that's what dictated the review.
Location, food, charm and character. Excellent parking if you have a trailer
Cottages have very small windows and rooms have no airflow. No air conditioning so an uncomfortable hot night. Glasses in bathroom comically small and no coffee or tea making facility in the room
Lovely place, so convenient for Castle Donnington and access to East Midlands airport. Relaxing vibe. Shame it’s getting a bit tired and in need of some refurb.
A little ‘tired’, eg windows all crumbling.
Perfect & lovely location close tontje airport but secluded on the rover. You feel the real english countryside.
Lovely setting by the river
They had a wedding on which apparently is common at summer weekends The service was poor as they were overwhelmed & the food we had was terrible. They did however on our notifying them, not charge for the food Bed also very uncomfortouble
Beautiful locationon the River Trent and just off the M1. Dog friendly rooms available and good value.
Very nice settings,
Looks a bit tired,
Amazing location staff great, food average to great depending on the day
Location is fabulous, rooms at the cottages a bit dowdy
Room excellent, lunch excellent. A wonderful riverside location that I have known as a local lad for over 70 years.
Nothing.
great location by the river it's so peaceful! We decided to have room service and the food was delicious. The room was good and spacious, had tea and coffee facilities, tv. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a typical buffet style, they had veggie sausages when we asked which didn't take long to come out.
nothing, i imagine this hotel can get really busy at times though which would make it less peaceful
Location and room was excellent.
Breakfast was not hot.
Location is beautiful and peaceful. We made the most of the gorgeous river bank setting with water fowl and a couple of mink spotted playing just feet away.
Our cottage room which we have stayed in a few times is really ready for an update. Hope its happening soon.
Food was excellent. Staff very friendly and service lovely.
Looking a little tired.
Stunning location
Nothing
Location to donington park
No air conditioning anywhere in hotel.
Location
Broken shower head, mould on walls, staff never answer phones
Hidden gem, so picturesque! Very helpful and friendly front desk staff.
Staff were great, Food was great - particularly breakfast. Location was ideal for Donnington racetrack.
stayed in a suite - anything but luxurious - a very old building and although it was clean - the furnishings and fitting were extremely tired . we stayed in a heatwave of 30 + degrees, and it was almost impossible to sleep.
There was no draft cider available
Beautiful location, fabulous food, staff were great.
Lodge rooms (11) were nice but possibly getting near to needing a refurbishment externally , a few signs of the need for maintenance/ tidying up.
Lovely and peaceful

Einzigartige und ruhige Lage, schönes Pub/Restaurant, sehr grosser Parkplatz.
Kleines Zimmer mit wenig Ablageflächen und keiner schönen Aussicht. (für eine Nacht i.O.)
We use this hotel when we visit family in shardlow, the beds are very comfy ,food is good and its not far to travel to see family, we stay in the cottages across from the hotel as we have 2 dogs, it's great for them to come straight out the door on to the beautiful grounds, we did notice a lot had been done since our last visit and it's looking great, can't wait to visit again
Can't think of anything
Location
Room was dated although very spacious. Although air conditioning structure just not working Update to the coffee in the rooms aswell packet coffee not great these days when you are paying the money you do! Breakfast needs better selection of fruit and yoghurts Better Coffee maybe a selection - lovely new machine
Fabulous location in the heart of Derbyshire at the bend of a river. By far one of the best locations for a hotel
Stayed in the cottages a bit run down.
Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The afternoon tea was delicious. There was a lovely breeze coming down the river.
Our room was on the ground floor right next to the car park which became very noisey with people shouting and cars leaving at high speed.
Its a cute place. Just down the road from Donington Race Track. Have a onsite bar and restaurant and a stunning garden by the river. Really nice to sit by in the summer. Room was great for the 1 night. Clean and tidy. Best was comfortable.
атмосфера
завтрак был не очень вкусный, номера пора обновить
The setting and the river are beautiful
The cottage rooms need decorating and the whole block is tired. Our first room had had a radiator ON in this weather for 24 hours they knew about it and still put os in the room, we were put in another room but no help was volunteered.
Good location Good food both for dinner and breakfast Very friendly restaurant staff both meals
Non existent staff on reception - needs a person there or a way of contacting them. Not difficult to provide a mobile number. You should not leave reception unmanned TV reception erratic Should have placed us in a room well away from wedding party. We were on same corridor just a few metres away Overall looks tired
We got there early hours and the guy who greated us was lovely he just made us very welcome and very helpful, and we got breakfast to the room and was fantastic, perfect end to the weekend.
Didn't realise when I booked it it was a 40min drive and not near to the event we had gone to, but cause it was so lovely and they really did make us welcome was worth the drive ,and beautiful place by the river on a sunny Sunday 🌞
Location was excellent, down by the river with plenty of outdoor seating.
Lounge was a bit tired but due a refurbishment very soon. Stayed in the cottages which were pleasant enough but tired. Had to carry our bags out the hotel and into first floor room which may not be suitable for all.
The reception staff were excellent after WE mistakenly booked the wrong room and we were relocated without a problem. The suite was well equipped and spacious. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast staff were equally great as was the breakfast.
Nothing, except the dinner staff being rushed off their feet
I stayed with my two dogs, we had our room in the little row of cottages which suited us perfectly instead of having to navigate stairs, landings, fire doors etc The walks for the dogs were fab, the lane is so quiet. We throughly enjoyed our stay
There wasn't anything we didn't like, if I had to be really picky I'd say the parking outside the cottage rooms. But it really wasn't a big deal.
The whole place was fantastic, the river, the view, it was quiet - amazing :) We were lucky to have arrived on the monthly biker meet which meant there was an outdoor barbecue too :)
Not a lot of dairy/gluten free options at the restaurant which was a shame.
The setting was idyllic, the room comfortable (but see below), the staff were very friendly from check in to check out and the food was very good. Definitely stay here again.
I would have liked reading lights on both sides of the double bed, but accept that it would be very difficult to fit one owing to lack of space for a table on both sides of the bed.
Lovely quiet location

Amazing scenery Cassie and the day staff were exceptionally pleasant. The Afternoon Tea was delicious and the service by the river was great
The bed was not comfortable for the price. The pillows were flimsy - literally, a pain in the neck!
Great location for local race track and a lovely peaceful setting on the river. Very helpful staff both times we’ve stayed and the restaurant is really nice.
This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here and as other guests have said, the hotel could do with a little love and attention in some areas BUT it is a lovely peaceful location just 5 minutes from where we are visiting. Only problem we were all allocated rooms above the kitchen air conditioning units. We just found it a little weird as hardly anyone was staying there that weekend and you’d assume they would fill out the “better” rooms first? The units were very noisy but full credit to the staff who found us rooms in a quieter part of the hotel, thank you!
Excellent beer garden overlooking the river. Good choice for evening meal and excellent quality. Good breakfast with very good choice.
Nothing
The room was absolutely spotless and full of character. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and had plenty of out door seating for you to enjoy a drink and bite to eat outside. We will definitely be returning
We booked this room because it is close to Donington Park and it only takes a few minutes to drive there. We didn't have any food and drink, so can't comment on that. The hotel setting is lovely and there was a wedding reception taking place, though we had booked a 'cottage', so were not in the main part of the hotel. We had a good night's sleep.
The hotel was a bit tired in appearance and could do with a refresh, but it suited our purpose.
The Priest House was perfect for our night stop with our dog, away from the motorway. A pretty setting by the river , we enjoyed sitting out having dinner in the garden area. The staff were friendly, we had a good dinner and excellent breakfast. We stayed in the seperate accomodation as we had a dog, the room was large and well equipt .Will stay again.
Steep stairs to room on first floor.
Location Eating out by the river.
Rooms don’t have aircon. Rooms becoming dated.
A brilliant location
It misses a more personal touch that you get with a small B&B. Only one size pillows that gave me a neck ache.
All met our expectations
Beautiful building on the river
Nothing
Good location Good food Friendly staff Good parking
Lack of knowledge of products leading to allergic reaction (advised of feathers in duvet which staff denied)
The location is absolutely beautiful and the staff are fantastic
It was incredibly expensive for what we got. I'm unsure if that's the norm for a stay or if the prices were raised due to Download festival but we booked and paid for a separate cottage and ended up in a basic room which we were told was no price difference.
The location was beautiful, staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable with a nice bath and shower.
The most frustrating thing was that there was some extensive work being done in the building that we were not warned about. Workmen were loud and also blocked off the stairs to our room for some time, along with strong paint smells around the building. This would’ve been fine had we had some warning. Food was decent but breakfast was a little overpriced for just an average buffet. Decor in the room was very scuffed with damaged tiles in the bathroom. Had to wait quite a while at both dinner and breakfast for staff to seat us as there was no one around. This was a shame as we’d stayed here last year and had a lovely time, this year seemed like things had gone down hill. Tried to book for next year (for another stay after Download festival) and the prices have gone up - definitely not worth paying more for unfortunately.

This was our 2nd stay at the Priest House Hotel. The location is tranquil and stunning, right on the River Trent. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but the grounds and the accommodation is very well maintained by the hotel staff. Hotel Staff- excellent, from reception desk through to the bar and restaurant Staff - everyone has been very friendly, welcoming and polite. Loved the fact that the lunch menu was extended to include hot food - this now includes fish and chips, roasted pork belly, Chicken Caesar salad and beef steak sandwich all of which were heavenly! We also booked in for Sunday roast as well - lamb and mixed roasts were second to none, highly recommend booking in for it if you're staying on Sunday. The food was fresh and delicious every day, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, massive thank you to the Chef and the Kitchen Staff.
Nothing to complain about
Fabulous location, great staff, very friendly. Had a lovely evening meal. Clean, plenty of room. Loads of very safe parking. Super convienient for airport and Donington Park circuit - both 10 to 15 mins max. Building has a fascinating history - ask for printed details.
Lovely old mill property right by the beautiful River Trent. Gorgeous River walk, super restaurant for supper and breakfast. Comfy bed and room and nice friendly staff. Great to take an English ale watching the River flow.
I liked it all, very much!
Great location very beautiful Food was lovely but quiet expensive for what it was
Beds uncomfortable
The location was stunning by the river, the staff were friendly and polite and the food was lovely.
The cottages themselves, whilst old and charming from a distance, very quickly showed the fact that both they and the immediate area around them were VERY tired and uncared for, a very disappointing first impression. There is no excuse for the shabby appearance of the external flaking paint, plaster falling off the walls, missing light bulbs in external lights, leaves that had obviously not been swept up for weeks, rotten windows which didn't shut properly and handles held on by half the complement of screws, filthy kettle and only enough towels for one. More towels were supplied but only when we requested them, the extractor fan in the bathroom and broken window were reported immediately and we were told that as we were staying for two nights they would be repaired first thing in the morning - but they never were. The exterior handle on the entrance to the restaurant (which also doubles as a fire door) was only held on by two screws and was in danger of falling off. CCTV would have been next to useless, as it was shrouded in cobwebs, even if it did actually work. I've never before been in such a hotel (which has so much potential) and started to wonder when the last safety inspection took place?
Amazing, will be back again
Posizione, camere, e bagno
Personale gentile ma poco accogliente con gli stranieri
Whant a refurbishment
Erg mooie locatie en super personeel
Het is echt oud en achterstallig groot onderhoud. Jammer want het is echt een mooi gebouw
