Excellent staff, just 2 or 3 min walking distance from Ella railway station, decent room for the price, clean. Budget friendly. Worth it I will say I will recommend this place.

It's a nice and affordable stay in Ella, close enough to the center but not too close to be bothered by the noise. Clean bathrooms and nice breakfast!

While the rooms are private, the walls don't reach the ceiling, so you can hear the noise and see the lights from other rooms. It made it a bit hard to sleep, so it's okay for a short stay, but I couldn't have stayed longer

The place is very cute, location amazing, hosts very friendly, breakfast included very good. I loved that it was open on the outside (very comfy when it's raining) but still protected with nets + mosquitoe net in the room. This place was very comfortable and a bit different than usual homestays! I totally recommend it for your stay in Ella.

The wifi was pretty bad! But using my data I got a good connection. I won't recommend this place if you are looking to meet people and plan activities like other hostels.

The location was right next to the train station. A 3 minute walk to be exact. Also the 2 minute walk to the centre which has a strip of restaurants and bars. Bathroom was acceptable.

The layout of the room wasn’t what you would have thought with the pictures. The best to describe it is plywood walls and nets with a bamboo roof that allows every bug and insect inside the room. And you can hear everyone who walks past and are in other rooms talking. The loud noises were unbearable which woke us up at 5am. That’s how exposed you’re to the outside it’s basically camping with some bamboo as cover. Be expected to be bitten and itchy for the duration of your stay.

Fully recommend without any complains. Helpful and friendly staff. You can also rent a scooter here :)

The staff were very friendly, great breakfast included as well and the rooms were very cute but also basic. The top common area is very funky and is quite a nice spot to chill out. Only down side was the bathrooms were a bit rundown and the presence of bugs in the rooms but that’s expected being an open aired hostel

The staff was so lovely as well as the location. There was just construction going on for quite a lot :(

Rooms have a laid back boho feel and are upstairs over cafe. There is a 5 storey hotel being built behind them though so don’t go for peace and tranquility but for being right at heart of things it can’t be beaten and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There’s free filtered water too and a fridge and tea making facility and also nice balcony to sit out on.

Little noise at night

Bed and sheets were very comfortable, location is excellent, close to the train station. Mosquito net provided. On a quieter street vs main road with a lot of noise. Breakfast of three crepes, banana and yogurt was very generous and delicious.

Room wasn’t floor to ceiling covered which meant you can hear everything in the lounge area, people walking up and down the stairs, people talking, and just didn’t feel very private. Unfortunately there was construction going on behind the hostel so you can hear all the drilling and banging from that. Even though they said there was hot water, there wasn’t, it was lukewarm to cold. Walls weren’t completely covered so mosquitoes could enter into the toilets/shower.

Nice hostel with private rooms. Location is perfect, walking distance to bus stop and train station. I was staying in a private room which could accomodate 3 people (1 double-bed and 1 single bed). Beds are very confortable. Breakfast was great, and staff very friendly and helpful. I stayed 2 nights from 18 --> 20/03/2025. I read some reviews about bed bugs. Nothing like such in my room. Also noise level is not as bad as what I expected from the reviews: the "nightclub" is not next-door and it doesn't run all night. If you are a light sleeper, earplugs will easily do the job.

As the walls don't go all the way up to the ceiling, it is very noisy at night. Across the square, there's a club who plays music all during the night and you have to be lucky with the other guests staying as well. If you have good earplugs and an eyemask, maybe it's worth the risk.

The location was super close to everything they have cute cafe so you can have tasty smoothies and good coffee they offered very good breakfast i must say about one thing they got review bed bugs when we arrived here we saw they are cleaning everything so don't worry about the bed bugs they gave fully cleaned room for us thank you for that recommended ♥️

DONT GO THERE. Me and my friend stayed for one night and had a rash all over our body, because of bed bugs. Sadly we saw the review of the other girl woth bad bugs too late, but we can confirm its true. We are very disappointed that they did not take her report seriously and gave the room to us. Also the windows dont close, and the mosquito net has holes. The walls of the rooms are not closed to the ceiling so you hear basically everything. Not that bad, but think about it if you want it.

Good facilities and location.

DO NOT STAY HERE. THERE IS BEDBUGS. I know this is not unheard of in Sri Lanka so I would have not left a bad review had this accommodation dealt with my concerns and experience appropriately. I stayed here for one night only. When I woke up here I noticed an unusual rash/insect bites/hives on my right leg, mostly around my foot but also extending up my right leg. Also some on my left leg , a few on both thighs and lower back . I initially was inquisitive to what it might be as have not previously had bed bugs. I went on a hike to little Adam’s peak that morning but by the time I came back I sat down for breakfast and examined my ‘rash’ further.. there was a LOT of bites on there. Probably about 100 if I was to guess. During the day they grew bigger and became a lot more itchy so I was beginning to become more concerned. At this point I had checked out of the hostel (was staying somewhere else in the town) but had given them my laundry before I had left (I thought best wash everything I had worn in last 24 hours) . I went to pharmacy that afternoon who confirmed that it was bedbugs and gave me some treatment. Also I to add, I myself am from a medical background and am travelling with a group of doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists. I returned the following morning to A Lounge as had rented a moped from them so wanted to return it and thought this a good time as well to inform them of the now confirmed bed bugs situation . I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. I explained that I had confirmed bed bugs and wanted them to please make sure this is taken seriously as do not want the next people staying in the room to be impacted. They didn’t so much as even offer an apology and denied everything and said it is not bed bugs. However, I myself am from a medical background and have also had a confirmed sThey said no not more than usual,. They changed the sheets and flipped the mattress. I asked to please speak with the girls staying there.

Cool concept with bungalow vibe, some privacy with divided rooms at price of a hostel, friendly staff, great breakfast, clean and comfortable

This is not the property’s fault, but there is a nightclub which plays extremely loud music. On the Saturday night it went until about 4am but Sunday it finished much earlier. With good earplugs it’s not too bad but just a warning if you’re a light sleeper!

Everything in the place was very nice! It was clean, nice beds, friendly hosts, very good breakfast and the vibe is very calm and chill. The shared spaces are beautiful.

A pity that there is a club in front of the hostel and the hostel is not soundproof. So you need earplugs otherwise you want sleep, because the music starts early afternoon and ends late in the night 😔

Great little room booked on short notice, get what you pay for. Location great near the road but very noisy at night with the music and trains in the morning

Anu and lahiro are so nice and helpful a lot, and place is clean as well and it’s close to everything no need to worry much about transportation . We also rested a bike from them🥰😍. The place is amazing the breakfast was good too, i will definitely come back

Really close to the centre of Ella! The breakfasts are amazing and vary every morning. The rooms are comfortable and the balcony is a big plus. The staff also helps you out where they can. Great value for money

It isn’t as sociable as I hoped it would be.

The host is very friendly! Helped us with everything. There is a cafe downstairs with coffee!! Also there is drinkable water upstarts. The rooms are very nice and clean. Feels like sleeping in a treehouse.

There was some kinda event so the whole day there was loud talking and music in speakers on the streets. This starts at 07:00 in the morning.

The host was kind and helpful everything was good and clean we enjoyed our stay at the lounge hostel, thank you so much!

Friendly staff

The walls were made of carton, the room didn't have a ceiling and there was a mouse/rat hiding in my backpack.

Very nice place and a good location

Very entry level place in a great location. Very nicely furnished common areas.

Rooms are not isolated from both the common areas and the outside. Not a big issue temperature-wise, but unfortunately someone built a club in front of the hostel that boasts loud music until late in the evening.

Wow! One of the hostels I have ever stayed in, with such wonderful staff!!! Simply amazing! The place is so nice and cosy. They provide you all you need: comfortable bed, tea kettle, racks for the clothes! The beautiful living room actually impressed me! I wish I could have stayed longer, but I know FOR SURE I want to return! Again and again, staff was amazing and sooo thoughtful! I can honestly say they took care of me! If you are a fellow backpacker, you know that's rare, so don't hesitate to come here!

The family are so nice and welcoming!! Clean, good value for money. Everything you really need. We also had an incident with the laundry down the road and the daughter was kind enough to help translate what we were saying (don’t go to sampath laundry service - look at google reviews)

The hostel is really cosy and nicely decorated. The coffee at the café was really good and the staff was overly friendly. We got the bigger room for the same price as the one we booked, because we were the only guests that night. The location is great and we enjoyed our stay very much. There is a cosy balcony you can use.

The beds were a little bit hatd but it was okay for two nights. During the night it is quite loud because there are music clubs around and dogs barking etc. But nothing earplugs won‘t solve.

Clean And close to everything And they offer in the common area free tea bags,mini fridge,water filter,plates,cups,electric kettle,and thay have hot water shower,tissue paper rolls, soap,hand wash,And if you want to wash your clothes there’s a little basket too so everything was perfect to us staff was very friendly they arrange the safari too if you guys want scooters or tuk tuk for hire ask them they arranged everything

There is a cafe near sometimes they play music until midnight but if you have earbuds it’s okay but that’s not a hostel fault And about the room walls not connecting to the roof because this is all made with wooden i think that’s why they cannot do something but that’s not a big problem

Great location in Ella - really close to the town but down a quieter road and very near the train station! Really nice and friendly staff, and they had scooter rental on site and I think you can book tours etc with them there too. The fan was above the bed which was really useful with the mozzie net. They have good luggage storage, and the bathrooms were really clean and one had a rainshower which was lovely! They also have a nice balcony and seating in the cafe downstairs.

A few older reviews had mentioned that the walls don’t go all the way to the ceiling but we didn’t see these when we booked or I think we would have reconsidered - the walls are only thin wood so you can hear everything outside anyway, but as there was no floor to ceiling wall the main lobby light lit up our room too 🤣 someone did also manage to turn a blue light on in our room at 1am from outside our room which was also a bit of a surprise! You could hear everyone talking in all the other rooms, so we spent our time whispering, but it does mean you rely a bit on not sharing the accommodation with noisy or less considerate people. It would also be good if the doors had an actual latch rather than a padlock and a shed door lock, as that made it a bit of a pain when one of you was out the room and the other in it! We also found that the wifi wasn’t very good or reliable - most of the time it didn’t work in our room, and often didn’t work out in the lobby either.

The facilities are great. Everything was super clean and the host are very friendly. Loved it!

Very cute tree hut, nice and chill open area and some kitchenware. Clean rooms and bathroom. Very close to the main street.

No glass windows, only fabric cover, so very windy and a lot of mosquitoes- though there is a bed cover against them but it doesn't help entirely. Also it can be loud during the day because it's next to a cricket field, and during the evening there's still some noise from the main street but not until too late. Also the rooms' walls aren't all the way to the top, so you can hear everything from the main area and other rooms- but usually it's not at all noisy. Still very cute place and worth the price!

Clean hostel actually i like here they did nice work here compared with other hostels i stay we can get little privacy in here and they make rooms under one roof that’s a clever idea for a hostel it’s like a tree house with little rooms very quiet place located in 70m away from the Ella town so easy to go everywhere And they also give filtered water,mini fridge,heater for the make tea, all the guests can share that And if we need anything more we can ask them and you will get that within few minutes.owner is a girl she is very friendly thanks for everything Anu we will come back again

Really nice chill room. There's a balcony and the bathrooms are clean. The couple is really friendly and helped us a lot with questions. Very good location close to the main road and Ella station. Bedroom was also big and nice beds.

The room was not completely closed off so you can hear noises from other rooms as well as others can hear you. It was not really a problem for us.

Ella has a main road full of bars and restaurants. This property was only 100 m off, so no sign of noise or crowds at all, and still close to the main area. It is run by a family, along with a Herbal and Health Massage shop next door. Very convenient.

Very nice place! Lovely places to sit inside and outside. Location also perfect, within 2 minutes you are on the main road.

There can be some loud noises at night and in the morning, but that is everywhere in Ella and it’s not so bad.

The hostel has a really cool, laidback vibe. Almost feels like a tree hut. It has a nice balcony that overlooks the street and is a nice spot to have a couple of beers in the afternoon. The hot water from the showers was good and the staff were lovely. Upstairs also has a cool hangout area with beanbags to chill out. Rooms were nice and cool at night.

The way the place is built has a lot of open windows that are covered only by mosquito netting or curtains with bars made from branches. While this is a cool design, it doesn’t make for any sound proofing. This resulted in us checking out after the first night (of two booked) because we couldn’t sleep due to the sound of the street and the bar across the park. Kind of sounded like we were camping in a tent, not sleeping in a building. The concept is cool, but would be better suited to being in a forest or on a beach. It’s not the fault of the hostel at all, but if you are a light sleeper, maybe think twice. Sorry guys :/

This place was so nice! Very clean and felt like a cozy cabin. It's walking distance to Ella sentrum but the place is located more quiet and not so busy.

The restaurant/bar across the place is kind of noisy and open 24/7. But actually a good place to party if you want.

The accommodation is located in the middle of Ella (only 2 min to the train station and 10 min to the bus station). The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is also a cute little café downstairs.

As it is located im the middle of Ella it is a little noisy there but if you seek for a quiet place you have to stay outside of Ella.

The location of this hostel was ideal, it was close to the train station and close to the centre of town. There was also a lovely chill out area with a small bar. The hosts were fabulous and the bedrooms were lovely. There were plugs on both sides of the bed which is always a bonus and the bed was really comfortable.

You can hear the town at night, so if you're a fan of complete silence this place might not be for you.

It's semi outside and everything seemed kinda wet and mouldy. Got chilly at night and the window didn't have glass in it.

Hosts are extremely friendly and the whole arrangement of the property is clever and well decorated. Location is right next to the train station and central to town. Bathrooms are clean - hot water shower. Room was pretty clean - mosquito net was necessary.

You can feel/hear when people are walking around. Never saw a mouse - but could hear some creature on the ceiling/roof which created a pretty anxious night. One night there was freezing and my two provided blankets were not enough :/

It's cute and cozy! Like sleeping in a tree with a lot of nature sounds because it's all made of wood without glass in front of the windows. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Windows are open so it can get quite cold in the night. There's also a big nightclub nearby with loud music all night (not the hostel's fault but a bit annoying)

Solely the price and the toilets were clean.

We booked a “private room”, which basically meant we had a bed in a large space divided by thin hardboard and without a ceiling. The amount of detergent hides the mouldy smell in the mattress. But the biggest issue: you could hear every sound and conversation in the other rooms, including the people vomiting in the toilet at 1 am and someone having a phone call at 5am. We hardly slept. I would definitely not recommend this place if you expect a private room.

The location was perfect as we were in walking distance of the train station, and all of the shops and restaurants in Ella. The staff are incredibly nice, and looked after us well while we stayed. The layout of the hostel is very nice too.

There weren’t any windows in the room we stayed in which meant it was quite noisy. The staff kindly provided us with earplugs, except there is a venue across the street the blasted music most of the night (that’s not the hostel’s fault of course!).

Communal area is nice, easy to walk into town. Rooms and bathroom were fairly clean. I was offered ear plugs on arrival (see below)

Though it is a single room this is still a hostel, and the walls are thin wood with no glass on the window so you can hear lots of trashy techno all night, and other guests.

Has a cool treehouse vibe, freindly staff and handy to the railway station and restaurants. It's kind of like a dorm but you have your own walled room (walls do not reach the roof) so you have more privacy and a secure place to put your stuff.

It rained the whole time I was there so it was a bit damp.. Not really their fault. Also there isn't a window so you can hear the club across playing loud music at night and in the mornings. Otherwise I really enjoyed the place.
