Leaving.
Loud live music until 11pm. Nightclub open across road until 4am. Bar downstairs is rowdy and rammed with pre drinkers to the club until 11pm. Coke heads in the toilets. Hot rooms. No air con.
Great location
Lots of stairs. Staff never available for booking in therefore long waits at the desk
You see photos of the food, accommodation and the outside space and they are never as nice but here really is just like the pictures. The staff are helpful and friendly, they even approach you to offer assistant, unlike other places I have stayed. We were able to relax and enjoy walks in the town which is very pretty. The buildings are beautiful to look at and they boast the largest church in the country. Just be careful not to trip on the cobbles while taking it all in. The water ways are worth a walk along if you have the time. I would return as it’s amazing the what you get for very little money.
I don’t like that there was nothing not to like🤷♀️
Central location and the staff
Needs update. Grubby. Feels like it’s on its last legs.
Was average room. Not great but was ok. The shower door needed fixing as it didn’t close and they had a sharp screw holding it together at the top of the door.
The staff without exception were helpful. , knowledgeable, friendly and caring.Without a doubt they absolutely made my stay. Nothing was a problem. From explaining menu items to sorting out lamps I could not get to work in my room. Nothing was problem for any of them and sorted immediately. The breakfast is also amazing, with an extensive choice of cooked meals, plus all the usual cold options to help yourself to.. As well as refilled pots of coffee or tea on request.
The view from my window.....Probably due to late booking I was assigned a large pleasant room over looking the ground floor out buildings and rubbish bins. The view was not inspiring. But on asking I was told most rooms were facing the river, church and town, as was the dining room, a far superior view.
Everything, really

Location great
Communal areas and rooms in hotel area very tired and worn , needs a refurbishment , bar area and dining area was to a good standard , room overpriced for current state , we were surprised how tired it was ! as we have stayed with this group before .
Very comfortable and quiet room. The hotel car park was easily accessible around the back. It was good that they provided us with the postcode or we wouldn't have found it as it was a different one from the hotel. Very friendly receptionist. It had a lovely riverside beer garden.
Our room looked out across the car park, sadly, not the river.
Location, friendly staff, breakfast, bar meal.
No late evening residents bar as it would have been nice to have sat and had a night cap before going to bed. Bar was full with people watching some band which were very loud. Shower area in room could benefit from mould remover in between tiles as the black mould detracts from a very nice shower feature.
The food was tasty and there was a good choice.
The bathroom was too small and the shower was a tight squeeze.
Very good service food very good as well Staff very good and helpful
The noise from people when the night clubs Finnish and some of the pubs from 1am to 5am very loud people shouting and screaming on their way home kept me awake and also the loud cars with there noisy exhaust's and people using the cut though from the car park entrance to the bridge my wife and me were kept awake by people using it very loud and noisy.
Excellent location, fish and chips was good , Wetherspoons opposite 👍
Worst room 340 , out of breath by time I got there , ok for one night , wouldn’t stop again
Location / Breakfast
Needs some attention - better cleaning, worn and tired in places
Location , staff, comfort, cleanliness
Unfortunately there’s noise at night from surrounding establishments but the hotel can’t help that!
Not much
Dated, & food very poor. 52 steps to our tiny bedroom from Reception. Friday night live music was tolerable as finished promptly at 22.30. However, a Rave venue immediately opposite with huge bass speakers & flashing lights continued, unrelenting until 04.00 Just give Boston a miss as it has nothing to commend it.
The overall presentation of the hotel. Willingness of staff to assist you as a visitor to the area. Room was clean and comfortable. Free wifi in contrast to other budget hotels that only provide half hour.
There was a noticeable droning vibration/noise from unidentified plant or equipment somewhere in the building that did affect falling to sleep .in our room (108)
Great location and some friendly helpful staff including Mickey the manager
We sat down at a table with a bottle of wine and menu to order dinner and were told 4 of the main menu items weren’t available, from an already short menu. No veggie option, no pies etc…. I thought this was dreadful and have never known it in a restaurant before. We were told the hotel had had a busy weekend and were short staffed. Not my business I’m afraid. We had to leave the wine and walk out to find somewhere to eat…. Which we definitely did not want to have to do. Disappointed Also no lift
Location Breakfast
To many stairs and couldn’t of been put further away for my room allocation
Nichts.
The food is exceptional, staff are brilliant.
It is tired and needs a deep clean in some areas.
Close to town centre, had all the facilities.
Stairs
Location, bedroom and food were great
Small details. Hallways were "grubby". The carpet I can excuse but not the paint work. Damp cloth required. At breakfast the cafetières looked like they needed a good soak and scrub.
Staff were excellent and worked very hard in exceptional hot weather. Room was too hot, fan didn't work, television had a mind of it's own. Food was very good in restaurant.
Room was a long way from reception and far too hot but it was the hottest day of the year.
Lovely central hotel..lots of character..staff very friendly & welcoming! Room etc clean..lots of info too! Food was exceptional at the hotel! Lovely night sleep 😴
Electric fan was supplied but was full of dust..used the hairdryer to clean! 😁
The bed was very comfortable and the room was attractive and clean; and well proportioned. The staff were extremely helpful & friendly. Good food and service in the bar and restaurant too (but you should offer cheese on the menu, as well as desserts).
The hotel's location is excellent but I would have preferred a better view - my room overlooked a car park. I think bottles of mineral water should be provided in bedrooms, as well as tea, coffee etc. I also like a minbar in my room but that may be a bit much to ask for. You should also supply a shoe horn - v important for male guests.
Close to town centre and good Breakfast
The car park for the hotel is a nightmare to find, it even has a different postcode to the hotel, there should be more information and directions when booking.
It was a good regular town hotel and the food and staff were lovely
Nothing to dislike
Great location and very helpful staff. Only criticism is that we did not get any room service on Sunday Morning, which meant that we had to go down to reception to get coffee and milk (from the furthest room in the hotel). Had additional coffee and milk been left on the Friday, this would not have been a problem as we had no expectation of the towels being replaced or bed made. Unfortunately, not much one could do about the Heat, but the Band was great.
The staff were fabulous, attentive and polite. Food in the restaurant was delicious and good prices. Great central Position.
Difficult to find the carpark. It has a different postcode to the hotel.
I liked the fact that the hotel was right in the town centre and the parking was free. The breakfast was really good. The bed was also super comfy
The menu in the restaurant could use some work. The hot dog was nice but it wasn't great. Its Boston. Put some Boston sausage on the menu
The staff were friendly and professional. The room was spacious and comfortable and had everything you could need. Loved the artwork around the building which has many original features.
Traditional hotel Lovely and unique Location was great and the staff very attentive There was entertainment both nights that was excellent Highly recommend
Nothing
Location and evening life music. Great food as well.
The only thing I can think of is lack of facilities to charge electric car.
It was very central. A very old and quirky building. At first glance it appeared to be clean but there were cobwebs in the windows behind the blinds and dust every where.
We were not told there was Live music on both nights of our stay. This would not have been a problem, but when we arrived Friday night just after eight we were told the kitchen was no longer serving food as they were very busy. The band were performing outside our room and although they were very good we could not hear ourselves think let alone talk. We ended up getting a KFC. Then Saturday night, no one told us that another live band was on, so when we got back from the wedding at ten, the band continued till 11-00 with encores. Had I known that the bands were going to be on and the suite was not soundproof, I would have gone elsewhere.
Room, bathroom, bar, evening meal, all members of staff.
Sunday lunch
b'fast fine
no over head light in room & only 1 bedside light so could not read & a liitle disconcerting when getting up in the night. also on 2nd floor with no lift. perhaps this could be indicated when booking.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and we received a warm welcome. The hotel was right in the middle of town so very accessible with great parking. The evening entertainment was superb and the place had a great vibe.
The hotel is a little overdue a refurb and was looking a bit tired in places, the cleanliness and attention to detail in the room prep could have been better also. We were a little disappointed with the quality of the ingredients for the breakfast.
We were fortunate enough to have a room upgrade so was very happy with our room. A massive improvement from the room we'd stayed in a week previously. We had a meal (late lunch/early dinner) which was very good. Service was excellent.
For older guests the lack of a lift makes it a little difficult.
Car parking available next to the hotel.
The room was very dimly lit.
The position was brilliant right in the center Dinner was very good and a lovely breakfast.
We went at the weekend and was very noisy but you except that in the center.
Friendly, polite staff. Good Location.
The lack of a lift. Stair banisters were quite grubby from use.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
The rooms were not very clean. They were dusty and had cobwebs. It was a very cumbersome access to the rooms. We arrived to breakfast 40 minutes after it began and the continental breakfast was missing pastries, yogurt, bread, juice and it was not refilled.
Brilliant location for where we needed to be Staff very friendly & helpful Both breakfast & Sunday roast very good
Hot night, windows open therefore quite a bit of noise (night club nearby) Nothing the hotel can do
Great location staff very helpful
Carpet on stairs was frayed
Good location, lovely staff, rooms lovely, and clean.
Nothing to not like.
Large room with very quiet and efficient air conditioning. Convenient parking in the centre of Boston.
The hotel is a historic building, but past its best and tired in places.
Good brekky, location etc
Usual hotel gripe - the shower head needed the limescale removing from the nipples! Staircase banister rails were overdue for paint refresh!
Breakfast good.
Better toaster
Central location neater the church
Live music outside so it was noisey. Our room was on the 2nd floor about as far away from the stairs as you could get. Corridors were narrow, the doors are fire doors and heavy to open. Getting luggage to the room was hard work!
Dirty and very run down
Unclean
The room was nice, and the bed and pillows were comfy. Nice bathroom.
We were on the back and there was a building site right next door, which we were not pre warned about. Obviously had the windows opened because of the heat, but very loud machinery woke us up at 7am. Diggers dropping the rubble into the lorry.
Location and staff and outdoor space
Nothing
The location...central by the river The breakfast...hot food served to the table. Good cocktails Parking behind the hotel Entertainment in the courtyard
Lack of air con!
Everything was excellent! Staff, food, cleanliness and atmosphere ! Total value for money

Great location and staff
A wedding at the Empress. The room shook with music vibrations until midnight and it was impossible to get any rest at all, I am not a killjoy at all but should have been warned that there was a wedding on.
Location was perfect. Clean. Friendly staff. Very dog friendly.
Nothing, it was perfect.
Breakfast was good ,the service was good
No lift, no shower, window rattled in the wind .
Great food and bedroom as is normss as l for this brand
No water or biscuits in room I did not realise we didn’t get them on standard rooms
Location was good.
The cleanliness of the room and other areas. The shower was absolutely disgusting need a deep deep clean.
Breakfast was nice. During the night, I asked the staff on duty for some cold water, which they provided from their fridge. The handwritten note from the housekeeping team was a nice touch. Good charging points for electronic devices.
The weather was very hot, but there was no fan in the room, and when I asked for one, the duty manager was unable to locate one. It was possible to open the window, but the room faced the bar area and Wetherspoons, so there was a lot of noise which went on well after midnight (since it was Saturday and England were playing in the world cup!). If I closed the window the room was stifling, but if I opened it, I couldn't sleep because of the noise. The small lamp in the room didn't work even after the duty manager changed the lightbulb. There was a nasty drains smell from the bathroom.
Excellent location. A very good seating area outside
Nothing
The only positive aspects were the tasty breakfast and the friendly breakfast staff.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this hotel. Our room was unbearably hot because it was located directly under the roof. There was no fan, making it almost impossible to sleep. We contacted the hotel and requested a fair partial compensation. After receiving their initial response, we sent a second email asking them to reconsider, but unfortunately we never received any reply. Overall, we were very disappointed with our stay and would not recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel, very comfortable room, nicely decorated, great food.
It was lovely property
The fan supplied for the heat was small and very noisy
Prima hotel, goed ontbijtservice, diner was goed en vriendelijk personeel
geen airco op de kamer, buitentemperatuur was + 30 graden Celsius
Location is great and room always clean and lovely
Staff and the room
There was no corridor light outside the door of room 106, and no natural light, so even in bright daylight outside, you cannot see clearly the door lock in which to insert the 106 room door key, Quite frustrating when carrying heavy bags, and are struggling to open the door, because you can not see the door lock clearly, please try it for yourself, and you will see the issue. Also the En-Suite shower curtain rail collapsed when just pulling the curtain across, reported to reception, SO VERY POOR maintenance.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent food
Hotel a bit outdated, but comfortable
The location was excellent, all the staff were very friendly. The beds were comfortable, and we loved the white fluffy towels . We really enjoyed our meal in the restaurant and of course the breakfast was excellent too .
Location was where we wanted to be. Beautiful old building; quirky and charming with bags of character. Our room was wonderful. Lots of superb details and nice touches, all of which added to our enjoyment. Everywhere felt spacious and welcoming. Fabulous staff, and the food was excellent. We were celebrating a birthday, so we were truly grateful when the hotel management surprised us with cake and a bottle of fizz; that is true service, and definitely going above and beyond.
Some areas are quite tired which is not all that unusual with a hotel of this size and nature, but they were currently undergoing a number of renovations during our stay.
The dining room, riverside location and view from our window. Very comfortable bed with good quality bedding. Car parking is very convenient.
There wasn’t anything to dislike
Breakfast was very good. Bar area was very nice.
Room was very dusty. Loud music playing until late either from the bar area below or another property.
Perfect location and excellent cooked breakfast.
Lack of information on late night access.
Location good price
There was no lift and the view was of the back car park. But the worst thing was the noise at night which prevented us from sleeping. We were in room 108 and there was an access below to the car park BUT above this access (and just below our room) there were fans of some kind (AC?) which ran all night
Great food, location parking
Nothing
Location was central and quiet even though it’s in the middle of town
The room was very hot
Location was spot on, staff was nice , beds very comfy and rooms very tidy
The price of the beer
Lovely hotel and great location
It was clean and nicely decorated
Food was excellent
Room was tired
Great location, friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent meal in restaurant and very good breakfast.
Shower was not very hot, some of the decor was a bit tired .
Great central location Parking was available
Good location, good room size
A bit outdated, water in shower wasn't very warm ,stayed 2nd time in difrent room Becouse of location
Pleasant and friendly
Central location
The location
The room was like a shoe box and we got the master key for all the rooms in the hotel, just a good job we weren’t the sort of people who could go round and pick stuff from guests bedrooms
Prior to arriving, the staff were very quick to respond to emails. They helped make this shirt break even more special by having a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the room for our arrival. The location is brilliant and the courtyard is a lively setting for a nice summers evening. Would most definitely recommend anyone to stay here.
The disco across the river booming until the early hours. But appreciate there is little the hotel can do about this.
Great location, great staff and great food
Too many stairs to rooms
Easy Parking, Room was very modern, nice touch having a DAB radio in the room. High end stay for the price.
Pleasant welcome on arrival. Good parking. Town centre location overlooking river. Room very comfortable with good facilities. A pleasant touch is the radio quietly playing in the background when open room door. Food - dinner or breakfast has never disappointed.
The staff were very pleasant
The hotel is misrepresented on Bookings.com. It is more of a pub than an hotel. There is no lift. Our room was on the top floor, not great for my husband who has a heart condition. Parking - leaving vehicles is risky - notices everywhere stating leave at your own risk. The night we checked in there was a wedding taking place so lots of revellers - not the quite coaching Inn we anticipated. We decided to check out 10 minutes after checking in!
How friendly the gentleman on reception was , he explained things to me , he bought up some food to my room as i was hungry and couldn't leave my grandson , the room was excellent, spotless , plenty of toiletries, tea , coffee , milk Value for money and a big room When I stay again im going to request the same room if possible Even the small details like a little hand written note saying they hope we enjoy our stay There was so much choice for breakfast and excellent value for money
There was nothing i didnt like
Love this place - very central and staff are wonderful
