White Moon Cabin & Cottage

We were 3 of us and third person perfectly fit on second floor with beautiful view. Very friendly people who were helping us who went over and beyond to make our stay pleasant and comfortable.

The location is amazing, you can see the beautiful mountains and greenery all around, just no street lights outside in the 50 meter area, so after 7 pm you have to depend on mobile or torch lights to walk down hill,also had a mini fridge in the room with soft drinks and beer with excluded from the room charges. Moreover there is a sitting area outside the room where they serve tea and coffee during the evenings, we arrived late on our check in day at 8 pm evening but they still asked for tea/coffee. Also the breakfast it's really good !!!

Der Ausblick und die Lage waren phantastisch. Die Wohnung hatte alles was man brauchte. Das Zentrum von Ella war einfach via Fußmarsch auf den Gleisen erreichbar. Das Frühstück war sehr üppig.

מקום מקסים, מושלם למשפחה. ארוחת בוקר טובה ברוח המקום. נמצא מעל פסי הרכבת אשר באמצעות הליכה עליהם אפשר להגיע לגשר לתצפית ומהממת ובכיוון השני להגיע לעיר. מומלץ בחום.

Quelle belle surprise ! même si les photos sont biens sur le site, c'est encore plus beau en vrai - nous avons apprécié le service tuk tuk pour notre arrivée à la gare / le personne est très serviable/ nous avons choisi un chalet familial : très spacieux, très bien décoré, une vue magique sur les montagnes, une très grande salle de bain avec 2 douches, un vrai havre de paix.. les pdj étaient incroyables avec une très belle vue / le jardin est sublime et nous avons en prime le chemin de fer qui nous permet aussi d'apprécier le passage du fameux train / le centre ville est à 2 pas à pied donc très pratique pour profiter / nous avons tout fait pied depuis le logement. en résumé, un magnifique séjour !

peut-être un peu de difficulté à communiquer avec le personnel car l'anglais n'est pas fluide mais ils ont été très discrets et très gentils !

Great location, view and comfy beds.

La originalidad del concepto. Me encantó tener un cristal desde el cual veía el exterior de noche, durmiendo en medio de la naturaleza y con todas las comodidades que te puede ofrecer una habitación de hotel. La ducha sensacional, la cama también; las almohadas para mí un poquito incómodas. El desayuno muy abundante y delicioso. El trato fue muy bueno, le pedimos al chico si nos podía acercar en tuk tuk a la carretera (dado que está subiendo una cuesta dentro ya de la montaña) y nos hizo el viaje encantado. También había una vía de tren que te dejaba en 5 min en el centro de Kandy sin necesidad de tuk tuk.

Las almohadas; a pesar de haber variedad no me resultaron cómodas. Cuidado como precaución si vais en coche, el nuestro le costó subir las cuestas; recomendamos subir y bajar en tuk tuk para mayor seguridad.

We liked how close it was into Ella town, we could walk there in less than 10 mins. It was clean the room. I think for price it was good. We felt the whole time.

The breakfast wasn’t great and the towels kind of smelt bad. We did a tuktuk tour to a waterfall with the guy which was good and he organised a taxi to our next destination which went smoothly. I think the staff could have been friendlier and more welcoming, especially compared to the other places we have stayed in Sri Lanka.

We hebben genoten van dit hotel. Wat een prachtig plekje midden in de natuur en via het spoor ben je met 5 minuten in de drukte van Ella. Het uitzicht is prachtig, de kamer erg ruim en de eigenaren heel vriendelijk. Het ontbijt is bij de eigenaar in de tuin en heel erg uitgebreid.

My family had an amazing stay at White Moon. The accommodation was stunning, clean and well kept. The location was brilliant, we loved the short walk into town on the train tracks. The entire family treated us so well and the breakfasts were ace! Thank you for having us ❤️

Les vistes son impresionants, bastant a prop d'Ella si vas per les vies del tren. El tracte del personal va ser molt bo, ens van preparar un pastis i globus per l'aniversari d'una de les amigues. Tambe ens van gestionar diversos taxis.

El disfrutar de las vistas y la tranquilidad del lugar suponen un acceso un tanto intrincado, pero merece la pena.

Mooie locatie en uniek. Wegje naar dorp via de spoorlijn is heel charmant. Zéér behulpzaam en vriendelijk personeel. Echt supersympathiek. Ik zou zéér graag een hogere score geven omwille van de locatie en de vriendelijkheid. Als je basic, proper verblijf zoekt op een unieke locatie, dan is dit zéker een aanrader.

De prijskwaliteit verhouding. Voor deze prijs liggen de verwachtingen wel wat hoger. Dagelijks nieuwe handdoeken en water in de kamer. Op z'n minst de vuilbakken eens komen leegmaken.

The rooms at White Moon Cabins were very neat and tidy. You enjoy a beautiful view at a lovely location surrounded by peace and nature, yet very close to the center of Ella.The taxi service was also great: a fair price and a very pleasant drive to Arugam Bay. Along the way, we stopped at the Ravana waterfalls, encountered elephants on the road, and spotted crocodiles. Highly recommended!

De mensen van de cabin waren heel vriendelijk! Alles was verzorgd en er werd vaak gevraagd of alles oké was. De stroom was in het stadje uitgevallen en de eigenaar stelde voor om kaarsen naar de kamer te brengen, fijn! 😊 De locatie was heel goed en het ontbijt was elke keer lekker. De kamer was ruim en proper en het uitzicht fantastisch. Zeker een aanrader!

De prijs lag wel tegen de hoge kant maar alles in Ella is vrij duur voor als je graag comfortabel bent. Je krijgt er een mooie view en gezellige sfeer wel bij. Dus niet perse iets wat tegen viel, wel eventjes van ‘geschrokken’. 😊

The room fit the five of us perfectly. Everything worked and was comfortable. The walk to the town was quite fun and we really enjoyed it.

The location of breakfast may have been better and cooler up at the room if possible as had a real good outlook.

Best place to relax while having a breathtaking view

Het was echt een heel erg fijn verblijf! Host hielp ons echt heel erg goed om alles te regelen. Ride naar de watervallen was zo geregeld en het ontbijt en taxi naar volgende locatie was zo geregeld. Bed lag echt heerlijk en had zelfs een tv erbij. Kamer was erg schoon en badkamer met warme en goede douche. Ella was 5-10 min lopen langs het spoor en goed bereikbaar. Kamer had een heel mooi uitzicht en we waren heel erg tevreden. Zeker een aanrader

Such a beautiful cottage with two storeys, 1 bed on each floor. All areas of the room were clean and tidy. Excellent air conditioning on both floors. The view is absolutely beautiful of the mountain and train passing by, with a swing to sit and enjoy. The family who run the accomodation were very friendly and kind and had great communication on WhatsApp if you had any questions or needed help. Breakfast included with bread, roti, eggs, pancakes, fruit, juice, tea or coffee. Brilliant. 10 minute walk into town via the railway tracks. Very quiet location. If I ever came to Ella again I would consider staying here again. Thank you so much!!

It’s not the property’s fault, but whilst it is an easy 10 minute stroll to the Main Street of town down the train tracks (be aware of times train is coming to not be near the tracks), it is a long walk if you go via the main drive way/road to hotel and pitch black at night so some may not feel comfortable walking especially if on their own. Consider walking with others or better a tuktuk at night which is easy/affordable. It would be great if they had more street lights. I was able to take a tuktuk ride from the owner himself at night time for a small fee which was appreciated. The property drive way is also very narrow for cars but there is turning area.

Delightful accommodation with an amazing view and a chill vibe. There was a swing outside my room that immediately made me feel relaxed. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had amazing shower facilities: 4 different options! Breakfast was delicious. Tharakar, who manages the place, is quiet but helpful and takes feedback and suggestions very seriously. Walking to Ella Rock was a bit shorter from this location. Getting to the main Ella street was a 10-minute walk along the railway tracks, which is an interesting experience.

My fault: I booked two rooms but didn't realise that one of the rooms did not have air-conditioning. Please check the options carefully if air-conditioning is as important for you as it is for my friend and me.

Le logement est très propre, beau et confortable. Le vue est incroyable! Le petit déjeuner était très bon et copieux, avec des petites attentions particulières pour les enfants. Nous avons adoré notre séjour dans le cottage. Nous recommandons ce logement!

Gorgeous cabins with an incredible view in an excellent location - perfect for my family of six (two adults downstairs, four kids upstairs in the family suite, extended family in the cabin next door). A short walk down the railway tracks meant it was a little quieter than town but an easy walk to restaurants and facilities, yet the birdlife and the views were spectacular. The host family is warm and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Water was a bit cool in the showers in the morning but it’s in the mountains so understandable, and it is warm so no problem to

Leuke accommodatie met zicht op de Ella Rock; Gloednieuwe kamer, zeer modern ingericht met bijpassend sfeerlicht. Ella stad ligt op wandelafstand en is bereikbaar via het treinspoor dat standaard als wandelweg wordt gebruikt. We hebben 2 workshops gevolgd in Ella die zeker aan te raden zijn. Een thee- en kookworkshop. Een wandeling naar de Ella Rock is zeker aan te raden als je van een stevige klim houdt, maar kokosnoten zijn dicht bij de top ook nog verkrijgbaar. De familie is zeer vriendelijk en voorziet ook een lekker ontbijt.

Het straatje naar het hotel is bijzonder smal en moeilijker voor een taxi. De gastheer heeft een tuktuk en kan bagage aan de hoofdweg wel ophalen en is op wandelafstand.

The 2 double bedroom advertised would suit a couple with family as the top floor stairs up a bit steep . Suggest the top room full double bed with base not just double mattress on the floor .

Mooi gelegen, af en toe komt er een trein voor je voorbij, mooi om te zien met Ella Rock op de achtergrond. Je bent via de treinrails binnen 5 minuten lopen in Ella stad. Heel mooi allemaal.

Soms was de airco van slag, had je hem voor het slapen gaan aangezet op 22 graden, stond die ochtends op 27 graden. En als je na iemand wilde douche was het warm water soms op.

Recent gebouwde cottage met prachtig uitzicht op Ella rock. Heerlijk ontbijt met omelet, toast, vers fruit, verse guacamole… De cottage ligt vlak aan de sporen waardoor je uitzicht hebt op de trein, maar je kan je hierdoor ook snel begeven richting de stad of Ella rock.

Wij verbleven met 4 in de cottage. In de slaapkamer bovenaan kan de isolatie beter (geluid- en geurhinder van afvalverbranding uit de omgeving). Verder is het pad naar de cottage erg stijl.

Sehr schönes, sauberes und großes Zimmer. 10 min Fußweg von der City entfernt. Trotzdem sehr ruhig. Ab und zu fährt mal der Zug vorbei aber das stört kaum, da der ja nur paar mal am Tag fährt. Die Aussicht zum Ella Rock ist der Wahnsinn. Hier lässt es sich echt aushalten. Es hätte nur ein Pool gefehlt...dafür Unterkunft mit Minibar 😁 am Abend saß ich draußen und habe Glühwürmchen entdeckt :) ..hier wird kein Frühstück angeboten, aber das macht nichts, da es in der Nähe viele tolle Restaurants mit tollen Aussichten gibt.. Ich komme definitiv wieder 👍

Die Unterkunft liegt auf einem Hügel, der steil zu laufen ist. War etwas anstrengend. Manchmal gibt es einen Stromausfall, der nach paar Minuten wieder da ist.

My friend and I had an amazing stay! The view from the cabin was amazing, it was so clean and the hosts were amazing! We were cooked an amazing breakfast, which made our stay even better!

It's a well made and cleanly maintained cabin , the family who runs it are super helpful. It's a bit basic. It has a very nice view and it's just overlooking the train tracks..

It's quite difficult to get to especially when it is raining. Approach is quite narrow. There is a short cut to reach Ella main Street walking along the train tracks. If you have luggage and a vehicle it is better to avoid this property.

Charming, authentic Ella experience staying here. Booked both rooms, both very comfortable, clean and spacious with amazing views over Ella Rock. Perfect location as a short 10 min walk down the train track to the centre of Ella. Host very welcoming and helpful. Plentiful and authentic Sri Lankan breakfast was good. Would highly recommend.

A modern accommodation that has all the facilities needed. The staff were helpful and breakfast was good and plentiful.

The room was in an area that looked like a building site because the road was a track which was owned by the council. The staff tried to make it look as good as it could.

Amazing place to stay! Beautiful views, very clean. Delicious breakfast and amazing hospitality. Great distance from Ella, less than 10 min walk down the train tracks, perfect to get out of the hustle and bustle of Ella but close enough to do all activities. So peaceful. You must stay if in Ella!

Amazing Stay with Stunning Views! We booked the Superior Villa, and it was absolutely worth it! The view was breathtaking, and the villa itself was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. You can really feel the love and attention to detail that went into it. The whole experience was just incredible. Plus, the location is perfect – you can reach the city center in less than 10 minutes on foot. Highly recommended!

Wonderful views. The cabin was very comfortable & clean.

The photos are rather misleading as the outside area of the cabin was still under construction with an unmade path leading to it. I’m sure when all is finished it will be lovely but feel that we should have been informed about this prior to our stay.

It was invaded by flys and insects attracted by the light and there was a gap on entrance door and insects were entering from there. Plus they forgot thr bathroom windows open. Beside that it was really nice and they did their best to make it work
