Green Leaves Garden - Pinnawala

Anushka and his family are the most generous people and happy to go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. They all speak really good English - from the 6 years old daughter to the 70 years old granddad - and are happy to share their culture and ideas. Our kids even played together. Breakfast especially was outstanding!! We had more than we could possibly eat and the best mango of our lives! Our room was simple but charming and clean in a peaceful and quiet garden. Anushka works also as a guide and can drive you to all the interesting places. All in all: I can recommend the place 100%

Nous avons été très bien accueillis par l’ensemble de la famille. Nous avons partagé de très bons moments. L’hébergement est parfait, confortable et entouré de verdure. Nous avons pu nous reposer pleinement, profiter du calme et savourer ce petit moment suspendu, loin du quotidien. Une véritable parenthèse de douceur ! Mes filles ont adoré et nous aussi. Une très belle expérience que nous recommandons sans hésiter.

The family owned nearly home stat but with separate cabanas. If you're looking for a truly local, very unique experience, this is the place for you. Surrounded by nature , semi clay wooden cooling cabana with extra very spacious room, excellent air conditioning to beat the heat and most of all the Mr. Anushka and family are giving us the best hospitality and treatment.

Wer das echte Leben in Sri Lanka kennenlernen möchte, sollte in Homestays wie diesem übernachten. Meistens leben 3 Generationen unter einem Dach und sind gerne bereit mit den Gästen zu kommunizieren. Im Green Leaves Garden wurden wir sehr fürsorglich umsorgt, sowohl das Frühstück, als auch das Abendessen auf der Hochterrasse im Garten waren köstlich!

Une famille très accueillante et qui n'a qu'un seul objectif: votre confort. Repas et petit déjeuner préparés avec soin dans une ambiance cosy sur une mezzanine en pleine nature. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour chez Anouchka. Les échanges avec les membres de sa famille ont été très enrichissants ( avec une mention spéciale pour sa sœur francophone et son papa très agréable).

Abbiamo passato una bellissima notte in questa struttura, letteralmente a casa di Anush e la sua famiglia. La casa è immersa in un bellissimo contesto di natura e la famiglia che ci ha ospitato è stata incantevole. Abbiamo fatto un’esperienza veramente autentica che consiglio a tutti di provare. In più il cibo è buonissimo!! Grazie ancora ad Anush e la sua famiglia per averci fatto sentire a casa

Anushka and his family has given a warm welcome to us.?customer service is exceptional. we stayed in Mud Chalet and it was really tidy,has got all the amenities. we really enjoyed the buffet type homemade meals,still mouthwatering and had fabulous authentic Sri lankan breakfast . Wish we could stay more longer but this would be our next must stay spot. Thanks for the exceptional hospitality. we definitely back next time.

Our stay with Anushka and his family has been a highlight of our trip! The moment we arrived we were welcomed with coffee and cake (and beer!) and from that point on felt so incredibly well looked after. We also enjoyed two delicious evening dinners with dishes cooked by different members of the family, and they even rustled up a cake for our friend’s birthday :) Anushka himself is knowledgeable and engaging and we learnt so much about Sri Lanka and its recent history. He is also an excellent guide and can organise everything needed for a day trip. Accommodation is basic but perfectly comfortable and we loved our elevated eating deck where you could watch the fireflies from a distance. 2 nights was not long enough, we look forward to visiting again some day!

We stayed at Green Leaves for one night prior to starting a tour around Sri Lanka. Anushka and his family are very welcoming and approachable and we are grateful to have been welcomed to their home. In the afternoon Anushka took us to a nearby monastery to watch the sunset behind the mountains, and to have tea with a local family. The next day we went to visit Ambuluwawa tower before travelling to Negombo. The mud chalet is very clean and tidy, with AC and mosquito nets. Anushka and his family prepared food for us which was very tasty. Overall we had a fantastic time, and staying here was a great start to our trip. Anushka and his family were very helpful when we had some questions, and taught us about the local customs and history

A very warm welcome from Anushka and his family. The unique clay house with its unusual shower was very comfortable to stay in. Beautiful plants all around and a pet rabbit added to the charm. The dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious and traditional. Anushka was always ready to help and give advice. Thank you very much for the wonderful moments!

Couldn't recommend enough. This is a wonderful Home Stay with the most welcoming family. We felt right at home. We were welcomed with tea and the onsite bar was a lovely touch. The host was so helpful and would be a great guide for any tourist experiences. The chalet had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We had breakfast dinner and part took in a cooking class. Wonderful time, wonderful family. Must stay

Discover the hidden gems of Mawanella through the warm hospitality of Anushka and his lovely family at their enchanting homestay 🌿 This place is so wonderful I extended my stay and will definitely be back! Everything was perfect, the food was delicious, the hospitality, the room, the pool to cool down on a hot day, great location making it easy to go to other parts and also lovely to just sit and relax surrounded by nature reading a book or writing. Plus, Anushka really knows the island and is a great tour guide!

Our hosts were the absolute best. They invited us to their family new year celebrations and we were honored to join them. The food they prepared for us on both nights was delicious and adapted to our taste. They helped us with hiking trips and organized each activity we wanted to plan. The mud chalet was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and we felt very much at ease.

Despite traveling alone, I never felt lonely thanks to their warmth and hospitality. I felt warmly welcomed and cared for throughout my stay. Shortly after my arrival, they made me a delicious dinner that satisfied my appetite perfectly. 🙏😊 The next day, the host kindly offered to drive me to Pinnawala, which made my visit even more convenient. French family, we traveled to Sri Lanka with our 3 kids, 17, 21 and 25 years old. We loved everything! The place, the surroundings, the atmosphere, and moreover Anushka and his family. If you're looking for authenticity, simplicity and exceptional human relationships you'll be at the right place. Anushka is a perfect driver and guide. He picked us up at the airport with a van as we were traveling with our 3 kids and drove us to his house where we stayed for 5 days. We felt immediately at home and spent wonderful moments all together. Anushka brought us to amazing places, temple on top of a mountain with perfect view, river to have a bath every evening, tea factory, Ayurveda botanical garden, restaurant near waterfalls, and a place where we spent a perfect time with elephants, having a ride with them, washing them in the river and giving them some food. Such an amazing experience! He also waited for us in Nanu Oya train station to bring us back to his home after an unforgettable train journey to see the tea plantations. Always ready to make us discover new things, exotic fruits we could buy on our way, animals like monkeys, porcupine, giant lizards and giant bats, answering all questions and so interesting when speaking about his country. He can arrange you any tour you'd like to discover Sri Lanka, always helpful and reactive, you can trust him for everything. And what we loved the most are the precious moments we spent with his family. They are all wonderful people we'll stay in contact with for sure. For those who don't speak English good to know that his sister speaks perfectly French ( she's a teacher) and she's also super friendly and interesting. We spent unbelievable evenings all together, singing loud, and dancing, and having BBQ party. Thank you Anushka for everything, for being you, for introducing us to your family, for having such a great heart, and for having printed in our soul precious and unforgettable memories 🥰

This is such a unique place!!! Hidden away behind the main road, beautiful spot. I stayed in the cabin: so nice!! Perfect host and beautiful family. Please do have dinner there, amazing home cooked food. Loved it. The small pool was ideal just to cool down in the hot weather. Absolutely recommended!!

What a family, and what a place! As a couple we have travelled quite extensively and can honestly say: never have we been treated with such great hospitality. From tour guiding and cooking to being great company and exceptional hosts; Anushka and his family checks all the boxes. The room is cosy and clean, and you can feel the effort that has been put into the place. 11/10 ⭐ from us.

The first stop in Sri Lanka for me, my wife and our 17 months year old was Green Leaves Garden and we can highly recommend it! This was a really good way to get to know Sri Lankan culture. Anushka, the host, is such a nice and genuine person and he will help you with everything. We got to eat wonderful local food cooked by his family (if you eat vegan/vegetarian it's not a problem, in fact the opposite), go on hiking, visited different tempels, did a jeep safari, went to a herbal garden, a biological garden, a tea factory, even visited a funeral and got to know his wonderful family and friends. If you want to see elephants we really recommend you to see them in their natural habitat on a safari instead of visiting other places such as the orphanage (when we did research, several sources witnessed of the elephants being mistreated). Anushka picked us up from the airport and drove us to our next destination in Weligama after seven days. He even helped us with a missing bag from the airport. On our trips we always had interesting conversations about Sri Lankan history and current affairs and he was a professional guide on the different activities. We lived in a "simple" mud house which was very common back in the days. The room was spacious, had three double beds, a refrigerator, bathroom and air conditioner. We were in Sri Lanka for 30 days and spend seven days here and it was a great decision. If you want to get to know the real Sri Lanka, learn about it's culture and get new friendships, this is a great way to do it!

Anushka and his family were very warm and welcoming, they aimed to make us part of their family. Anushka has very good local knowledge and recommendations, he even offers tours if needed. The room was a unique stay and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night sleep from this. They hosted us very well in their own little restaurant on site, which Anushka's mother prepared (amazing by the way).

Excellent place, spacious rooms, with a lot of vegetation. Anushka is very kind, as is his family. He is a very good guide, he knows a lot about his country and its tourist attractions. If you have any questions, I recommend that you ask anything, he will help you. It was an incredible day in their cottage and the typical Sri Lanka breakfast was amazing 🤩🤩 I will back , I’m sure 🫶🏻☺️
