朝食、夕食共に満足できるものでした。また、スタッフの方にも大変親切にして頂き、英語が拙い自分の代わりにツアー会社への電話してくれたり、不明点等も解消するまで質問に応じてくれたりしました。とにかくスタッフの方が親身に対応して頂いたことが印象深いです。

この地域では常識かもしれませんが、日本人が期待するようなアメニティ類はほとんどありません。歯ブラシやクシ、シャンプーなど、大抵の日本のホテルにあるようなアメニティ類はありません。 また、他のホテルと比べたら立地も良いとは言えません。ただし、そもそも町自体が小さいため歩きで行ける距離です。(20〜30分程度)体力が並程度あれば全く心配入らないと思います。(ただしずっと上り坂なので、結構運動にはなります。)

Super Lage mitten in der Natur Spitzbergens! Die Unterkunft ist einfach, bietet aber alles, was man benötigt. Sehr gute Organisation beim check-in.

Czysty pokój, wygodne łóżka, super czysta łazienka (pan sprzątający 10/10), do dyspozycji pralka i suszarnia oraz salon i kuchnia. Pyszne śniadania, bardzo miła i pomocny personel. Bar wraz z miejscem, gdzie można pograć w gry albo poczytać książkę i napić się lokalnego piwa. Rewelacja!

Tough to find a reasonable priced hotel in Svalbard. Coal Miners is a great option for that. The walk to the town is not bad. They have a restaurant which is also a plus to keep cost under control.

Authentic cabins with their history of coal mining. The bedroom was comfortable but a little chilly. The curtains were very effective against the 24 sunshine

If I had realised I’d have to take my case up a flight of stairs I would not have booked there. Also there were no plugs in the room so had to charge my phone in the corridor. The food wasn’t great either.

I really liked the communication with the property. I also really liked the room, even though the bathroom was shared, as well as the overall atmosphere. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, and the people were very kind and welcoming.

The only downside is that it is quite far from the city centre. The other guests were behaving like wild animals — slamming doors around the clock, cooking, leaving a smell of burnt food, and playing loud music in their rooms. However, it is difficult to do much about this, especially since there is no 24-hour reception and the reception is located in another building. Overall, I highly recommend the place, but keep in mind that it is a 20-minute walk or more from the actual city centre.

This was the second time we stayed here, after a hike. While we booked the 'same' room, this one was far superior! Much bigger and brighter and far better. The first was very average- tiny and nowhere to put anything. A vast difference given they were the same price. Great the breakfast is included; the coffee is ok (and available all day which is lovely), and there is fresh vegetables, which is also super. Hard boiled eggs, and bread makes it a satisfying start to the day. Fantastic that the dinner option always includes a salad- great to have fresh food! Location is fine; it's out of town obviously, but the walk is pleasant, and as long as you rug up, it's not a big deal. Beds were small but very comfortable. Heater in the room meant that you can adjust to your desired temp. Shared bathrooms were obviously cleaned regularly and were generally very clean. They only became unpleasant when guests left towels and other items lying around rather than leaving the facilities as they had found them. Provided towels in rooms were clean and fluff, and bathmats were available in the bathrooms- very nice for a hostel! Also hairdryers were available, which was appreciated given the cold outside.

As above, while breakfast is sufficient, it's not great. The food is put into a corner of the room, so that when it's busy and people are buttering bread there (rather than taking it back to their table), it is impossible to get into the area. Food quality is not super high, but it's ok. Aside from the juice which is really just sugar water. We also had the dinner option. This was fairly dismal. While edible, aside from one evening (with salmon) most of the food was very average. We certainly did not expect a 5 star dining experience, but there is a lot of room for (cost and resource free) improvements. The dinner begins at 18:00, but was often cold then. I realised, on observation one evening, that it is because the food is placed out ready around 17:00. We were not thrilled with the fact that our 2 rooms were so different- the first tiny and cramped and the second bright and airy with lots of space. For the same price/room category, this is strange. There was one girl on reception (whose name I unfortunately cannot remember) who was fabulous! She is from the Philippines originally, and has been in Svalbard for 7 or so years. She was fantastic- her help, personality, hospitality and just general friendliness was so lovely. We really enjoyed every interaction with her. Unfortunately, she is the only one to positively mention. Other reception staff seemed to have had no training, or they hated their job. No smiles, little help, and very little idea about anything we asked. Quite disappointing.

Kitchen for guests so I could cook my food, breakfasts between 7 and 10 am always stocked with food. The toilet paper, soap and paper towels were always there. Place is very clean

The fridge was labeled as “freezer” and freezer had no label in cabin 1. There was no table so I have been eating food prepared by me from bench in room.

El desayuno es correcto, sin grandes pretensiones. Las habitaciones estaban bien y aunque el baño es compartido para toda la planta no tuvimos esperas. Aunque la habitación no es muy grandes está muy bien organizada.Tiene vistas a las montañas y en la sala común puedes servite bebidas calientes que realmente apetecen tras las excursiones

Se echa en falta algo de variedad en el desayuno, pero para empezar el día está bien.

I visited last year and was delighted. The staff were pleasant, always smiling, and helpful. Everything was clean and pleasant throughout. I definitely recommend it see you again in 2027.

The beds are comfortable.

I’ve stayed at Coal Miners Cabins several times in the past, and found the buildings clean and well-kept. I was disappointed to see how poorly kept the buildings are. No amount of cleaning will improve the overall shabbiness of the interiors. My door wouldn’t close without kicking the bottom in place. The breakfast is poor. The only hot thing available was bacon one morning of our stay. Eggs are hard boiled. No cured fish, just tuna salad. It’s basically a cold buffet of ham and cheese, bread, salad, and yogurt. I’ve stayed in every hotel in Longyearbyen and this one is by far the worst. If you’re looking for inexpensive accommodations, try Mary Ann’s Polarrigg.

Lontano dal centro

Breakfast was basic but good, everything what you need before adventure. The kitchen was very comfortable and fully equipped, including a dishwasher, so cooking was easy with no limitations. There were 4 toilets on the floor, so there were never any queues, which is a great plus for a bigger group. The radiators with adjustable settings were a great touch - everyone could set their own temperature, for example opening the window at night and turning the heating down for those who like it cool. The location was also excellent in terms of transport – buses usually arrived here first, since the hotel is at the end of the route. It’s not too far to the center either - an easy walk on foot.

Es war toll! Sehr sauber, bequeme Betten, ausnehmend freundliches Personal. Wir hatten ein Childrens Artic package extra bestellt, das war ein Highlight für unseren Sohn. Gerne wieder, Coal miners. Gerne wieder.

Ein extra Stuhl im Dreibettzimmer wäre gut, da hätte man noch eine Ablagefläche.

Design or Architecture was unique despite it being a long Cabin , it was great , so much space ….. There is a large sitting area which is good , the Bar is long inviting, the Dining area is spacious .. Staff are hard working and friendly ..

Schöne Unterkunft in Longyearbyen. Es war alles ziemlich neu. Die Möglichkeit die Küche zu benutzen. Wir hatten ein Zweibettzimmer mit Bergblick. Auch wenn wir es nicht gebraucht haben, aber die Vorhänge verdunkeln vollständig. Gerade für Leute, die während der Tage ohne Dunkelheit im Dunkeln schlafen müssen/wollen, sehr essentiell. Gutes Frühstück! Ich habe kein Problem mit einem Shared Bathroom, wussten wir ja auch vorher bereits. Dieser war im übrigen sehr sauber!

Die Lage ist ziemlich am Ortsrand. (Aber das wusste ich als ich gebucht habe)

Struttura molto pulita e curata, camere piccole ma accoglienti, ci siamo stati comodi con due trolley da stiva, i bagni sempre puliti. Colazione varia e ottima, ci siamo fermati anche a cena un paio di sera e la cena a buffet era buona e sempre con verdura. Personale gentile e disponile

Non è un difetto della struttura ma è da considerare che è circa a 20 minuti a piedi dal centro, nulla di troppo impegnativo

It is nice to be a bit outside of town. Very friendly staff and easy handling of the booking. Food was good and specially good value for money.

The cabins are what the name says: original workers' accomodations. So it's not fancy, but charming. The room was bigger than expected, and there was a real locker for clothes and luggage. It even had a small washbasin (take care - you should not drink tap water in Longyearbyen! There is a drinking water tap in the kitchen). Beds were comfortable. The bathroom is shared between 4 rooms, but there were 4 showers and extra toilets on the floor, so we never had to wait. The view is great - you may see polar foxes and reindeer just in front of the window. Breakfast was solid and good. WLAN worked perfectly well.

The hotel is far from the town center, and there is no regular public transport. All booked activities start with a transfer from the hotel, but a trip to the supermarket, museum or a restaurant is quite long. Of course, we knew that in advance, and you can't blame the hotel for a rainy day. On the other hand, the place is in the middle of nature. A foldable table would be nice. There are only two stools, so you can either sit on them or use them to put your teapot down. The kitchen is a great plus (includes a fridge for storing your food), but it is rather small. If someone wants to cook a serious meal, it gets crowded.

È tutto fantastico, lo staff molto disponibile e gentile. Le camere pulite, vengono forniti asciugamani e bagni e cucina sono puliti molto spesso e personalmente non ho mai dovuto fare la fila per la doccia. Dalla finestra della nostra camera abbiamo visto più volte renne e anche la volpe artica, un sogno.

Per me non è un problema e ne ero a conoscenza, Coal Miners si trova a circa 2km dal centro, se avete difficoltà motorie potreste preferire una struttura più centrale, considerate comunque che sia la navetta da/per l'aeroporto e le navette delle varie escursioni vi lasciano davanti alla reception.

The room was adequate and we were fortunate in that the shared bathroom was just opposite. Easy to open the window in order to get some air. Great hot showers!

Bit of a trek from Reception to our room block (No 1) - not easy negotiating with heavy luggage, hard gravel and 2 flights of stairs. Dinner was OK, breakfast was good, all self-service, The only issue being that cramped area where the food is laid out becomes very congested at peak times. It would be better laid out over a wider area. Also people should note that it is quite a walk into town (20-25 minutes) but then it is cheaper than downtown accommodation so to be expected really.

Struttura calda e accogliente. Nonostante avesse i bagni in comune, era sempre tutto pulitissimo! La cucina in comune è molto comoda e piena di confort, così come la stanza. Colazione a buffet molto buona

Prettige sfeer in oud mijnwerkers onderkomen. Prima ontbijt. Gedeeld sanitair was netjes, schoon en dicht bij onze kamer.

Onze kamer was in een bijgebouw, dus je moet wel steeds heen en weer lopen (ongeveer 100 meter) naar het hoofdgebouw voor ontbijt, maaltijden en dergelijke.

Really simple room, just bed, no desk no toilets nothing else, simpler than what Soviet coal miners got at mining sites of Pyramiden (as I saw there). Far away from town (45 minutes walk), and taxi expensive. Cost benefit do not match. It does not mean that I know anywhere more cost benefit friendly though.

The accommodation blends perfectly into the landscape. It doesn't offer great luxury, but it has everything you need.

We were fortunate enough to have a room looking out onto the hillside with Little Auks flying around and geese, snow buntings and arctic fox all just a few feet away from the window. Worth a visit, just for that! The breakfasts were also good and plentiful. Enough bathrooms that even though they were shared there always seemed to be at least one vacant. The kitchen was well enough equipped to prepare simple meals.

The shared kitchen system does rely on everyone doing their bit to keep it clean and tidy, which not everyone did, but that is not down to the hotel management or staff.
