The General's House - Tranquility Garden Villa

We loved our stay at this cute place. Stella was so sweet and helpful. The apartment is beautifully decorated, the beds very comfortable and the location is great. Very close to everything, but quite and tucked away in a small alley. Very practical to have a laundry machine and dryer! Will come back on our next trip to Hanoi!

The facilities are new and clean. The staff were welcoming, friendly and always willing to help with any of my requests. The room was clean and comfortable which is everything I needed for a pleasant stay.

The location was great, very central and close to tourist spots. I really liked that it still managed to feel calm and quiet. It felt great to go back to the clean cozy place after a day of walking around. The best part was the host who was super kind and gave me great advice for places worth going to when I asked, since my stay in Hanoi was kinda short.

To be honest nothing. Its a good place if you’re travelling alone or with a few people.

Perfect home for families & groups – Fantastic location and exceptional host! We booked our stay at The General's House as a party of two, but we were blown away by how incredibly spacious, comfortable, and well-designed the villa is. It is genuinely ideal for families or larger groups traveling together. The bedrooms feature exceptionally comfortable beds, and having full access to a washer and dryer made our stay completely hassle-free. The 4th-floor garden is a peaceful, green oasis—perfect for gathering and relaxing together. The location is wonderful, safe, and quiet, making it super convenient to explore the area. A special thank you to our host, Stella! She is wonderfully warm, responsive, and friendly. Beyond being a great host, she provided amazing tour and transportation planning (arranging fantastic trips to Sapa, Ninh Binh, a Cruise, and Hoi An) with top-notch quality and very reasonable prices. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or in a big group, this place is an absolute gem. Highly recommended!

We absolutely loved our stay at The General House! Every little detail in the design is so thoughtful, making the place feel incredibly peaceful and homey. Stella is a wonderful host, she is super friendly and is always just a message away. You wouldn't believe how quiet and spacious it is, considering it's right in the heart of the Old Quarter! A safe and cosy spot that we can't recommend enough.

Nothing to complain about, but future guests shouldn't expect a great view. Honestly, this is standard for the Old Quarter, where views are typically limited or identical everywhere due to the historic architecture. Having such a beautiful, peaceful and quiet place in this central area is already more than enough!

The self check-in process was smooth and quick, yet Stella was always online whenever we needed support. Located right in the heart of the Old Quarter, it is surprisingly quiet, safe, spacious, and comfortable. Highly recommended!

كانت المضيفة لطيفة جدا ومتعاونة ، السرير مريح جدا ونظيف ، وغرف النوم واسعة ، كل غرفة نوم بدورة مياه خاصة بها ، غرفة المعيشة جميلة جدا وعصرية ، ويوجد منطقة جلوس في السطح مجهزة ، ولكن لكبار السن ممكن يكون تعب لان غرف النوم فوق كل غرفة في دور ولا يوجد أصنصير .

The location and the decor.

The outdoor seating area was at the top of 4 flights of stairs but once up there it is very pleasant.

Good location. Bathroom facilities. Chill out area on top very relaxed and pretty.

Dampness! It was very damp we could smell the dampness straight away. The walls had mould and were wet and the bedding felt damp. The dehumidifier in the downstairs was totally inadequate and was needed in all the rooms. The door to the bedroom didn’t always work so we were locked out a few times. No explanation on utilising anything! Ie projector. Door to top terrace difficult to open sadly.

Loved the character of the building and the central but quiet location

Sofa beds were not comfortable for an adult to sleep on.

The place is spacious and well located. Beautiful house on a quiet clean ally. Nicely decorated. Owner is helpful and responsive.

Everything was good.

The apartment is a real experience of living in typical Hanoi house. 3 floors and a very cosy terrace are really unique experience. The apartment is very well maintained and has anything you need for your stay. The host, Stella, is superb, met us at the property and gave us great advice about the places to visit in Hanoi. No any significant issues to mention here.

The bedrooms were beautiful - gorgeously furnished and super comfortable. Each room was like its own apartment, giving us and our kids some very comfortable space apart. All the facilities were fantastic. Stella was brilliant at check in and super helpful throughout. It was such a peaceful, charming oasis away from the noise.

We loved everything about the property!! If you want to be in the middle of the old quarter action then this isn’t for you - it is tucked away from the street and a good 15 minute walk from the old quarter. But we loved the location and would happily stay there again.

The owner welcomed us and she was extremely nice. The whole building also quite cute!

Beautiful character apartment with lots of space and some very cool mod cons. Clean & well maintained in very handy location in a quiet alley way. Stella is lovely & very helpful.

It’s was a lovely quiet haven very close to the bustle of the old town. The house was clean and neat and had a great aesthetic. All of our beds were comfortable and everything we needed was there including a washing machine. Stella was very kind and helpful and gave us lots of great tips for food and touring around Hanoi. She was also very fast if we needed any help or advice.

Have issues with the heater. And there were construction opposite.

We came along with four friends, went on a little trip before the start of university year 4 and booked this Airbnb for three days and two nights. On the night of August 28, after taking a shower, One of my roommates opened the bathroom glass door, and it suddenly shattered completely, with all the glass falling near his right hand and foot. Blood gushed out, and we immediately called an ambulance, which took him to Hanoi French Hospital for a tetanus vaccine and wound cleaning. What a terrifying experience! If he were still a middle or high school student, the injuries could have been even more serious!

What a truly unique and beautiful house in the middle of the military quarter of old Hanoi. You walk down a tiny little alleyway and can't believe that a house as beautiful as this could be there. It has been so stunningly renovated and has super modern and high tech functions like the automatic toilet with heating and wind fan (which my kids loved), plus remote controlled projector screens above the bed. The best thing though is Stella - she was so great to us, nothing was too much trouble for her. She organised our onward travel and I even had to disturb her at 1am due to most of the family coming down with food poisoning and she amended our travel plans for us in the middle of the night. Even now, we are in Mai Chau and she has stayed in contact. This is what makes Vietnam so great, the people here are just fabulous, so positive and hard working, it really is a complete contrast to people back in Germany. Thanks Stella for a wonderful stay and all your help, this was such a memorable stay for us.

Getting food poisoning, but that has nothing to do with staying here!

It was clean and nicely presented with a touch of Vietnamese charm. Bedrooms were spacious and well air-conditioned both with an ensuite. The beds were comfortable too with clean and soft bedding. Kitchen and washing machine/dryer were handy and suited our needs perfectly. Although it was too hot and humid for us to enjoy the beautiful terrace, people travelling in cooler months will be able to make more out of it.

Grab drivers had some trouble locating exactly where to drop us off. Using the bakery on the opposite side of the road as the destination helped.

The house was great, had interesting history and beautiful decor. The balcony upstairs is particularly nice. Stella was a perfect hostess also, she gave loads of great recommendations, sorted transfers from the airport and always responded quickly when we had questions.
