Reviewed Aug 25, 2026We just spent 5 nights at this property and it is a truly relaxing place. The house is very well equipped and has everything you need. It boasts a wonderful view and, while not being isolated, offers just the right amount of privacy. We really appreciated the dedicated covered parking and the excellent outdoor furniture, especially the extraordinary porch. The hosts were kind, helpful, and very easy to communicate with. We felt completely at home, in total peace and security. Highly recommended!

Toilet rolls were adequate.
Towels were enough.
Extra blankets were available for covering the lap.
Utensils were generously made available.
The swimming pool was clean,though we did not use it.
3 TV's, lounge,and in two bedrooms.
Bed linen was clean and fresh.
3 braaistands,one portable,one gas(built-in),one at the garden.
Fireplace in the lounge.
The view(Lake) from the verandah.
The hammock and the hanging chair.
Air freshener and shampoo in the bathroom.
Seamless checking,key was in electronic safe box,there was no need to call to get the key.
Some extra towels had an odour but I think it's a small mistake.

We loved everything
I loved everything about this place. The house, the location, the view. Everything was just perfect! The host gives you privacy, you get to enjoy your stay without anyone bothering you. And when you need her, she responds quickly which is nice. I’m definitely coming back!
Maybe the pool can be a heated one so that visitors can still enjoy it even on days when the weather is not so good. But that’s not a train smash.

Reviewed Jan 20, 20261. It’s so quiet and we could sleep peacefully at nights, we could also walk around the property at the mountain and dam.
2. There was no power in the area and we couldn’t even realise it, the inverter and gas took care of us very well.

Reviewed Oct 27, 2025Liked the fact that it felt like a home away from home, it's tranquil and offers good amenities. My 7 year old couldn't use the splash pool last time due to cold weather, but she thoroughly enjoyed it this time around.
Hosts were accomodating of our needs and requests and we are greatful for that kind of flexibility!

Reviewed Jul 30, 2025The property was beautiful with a wonderful view of the lake and in warmer weather the deck and pool would have been well used. The house is well furnished, a fully equipped kitchen which is rare. and excellent wifi . Overall no faults we would definitely come again it is out of town so come prepared which we did.
Really nothing to complain. Just a note it was an exceptionally cold weekend and lots of throws were to hands but no form of heating so hot water bottles or panel heaters would make it perfect . We did bring wood with so used the fireplace in the lounge and had lovely log fires burning

Reviewed Mar 23, 2025The property was lovely. It has a very vintage and natural aesthetic to it and the view MY WORD, breath taking. It’s in the middle of a tropical rain forest and the green settings and onsite wildlife will make you feel like a tourist in your home country.
I most liked that the kitchen was fully equipped. There are more towels than one can use. There are activity and restaurant recommendations stacked into a cute little box on the living room table.
The outside seating area is perfect for morning breakfast or a family braai.
There’s a beautiful beginner friendly hiking train on this property that leads you to an absolutely serene lake. I sat there for an hour just taking it all in while being visited by all sorts of wildlife, but I’ve nothing unsafe .
Everything was perfect.
I mean there was swimming towels provided separately to showering towels. Cute lil blankets for outside chilling. The thought and detail that was put into this is amazing.
I would have liked if there was a few food related provisions like salt, sugar, milk and oil. I forgot all about these which made my first morning a little less ideal.
Also check the weather before making a booking. We couldn’t take advantage of the private pool because it was raining all weekend. And this is a rain forest after all.

The outside area
The fact that the place is spacious
The quiet and peacefulness of the place (despite some road noise but that's not too bad)
We didn't like:
The cleanliness of the place : it really needs to be deeply cleaned. It is dusty and feels/smells stale.
The pool in particular needs a good scrub - see picture. Also, the blankets provided in the living room are smelly. That being said, the bathrooms, kitchen and linen were clean so we didn't feel too uncomfortable using the space.
It is worth noting that the place is old and needs maintenance. For example, one of the window in the bathroom leaks and the king bed is tired and no longer comfortable to sleep in.
The whole estate feels a bit abandoned to be honest but this might be a + for some people as it is tranquille.
There is no lake view as the trees are high but you're still in nature so the view is green and still pleasant.
Also note that there is no privacy as the property is not fenced, you can see your neighbours and anyone can cross the garden at anytime (that being said there is a code to enter the estate so only people with access to the estate are around - which is not many)

There were a few tiny little snags. The gas braai had a few burners that didn't work and the DSTV was not activated. Saying that, these were not big enough issues to complain about as we enjoyed the stay either way

We did not feel secure. We were told it was a security estate. We did not see one guard. No other people around to ask. The security system did not work. No phone numbers. No tv no WiFi. Deck falling apart. No communication
The place was so comfortable and Sylvie was so helpful. The location was stunning
Would appreciate a bit more bedding in hand as we went when it was quite cold and would've appreciated a bit more.

The day we arrived the braai area was dirty and bins behind the house dirty that mongoose raided every morning at 6. The area didn't feel very safe. Some of our things went missing. Would have liked to use the Braai on the stoep where the gas is more than down in front of the house. At night I felt like there could be more light on the stoep outside.

The fireplace is so warm but there's no firewood, buy on your way up.
The kitchen is fully stocked with all cutlery and crockery including a stick blender but no kitchen scissors.
The owners have worked hard to try and make the apartment homely, it's quite comfortable.
We found the place so easily, the address on booking.com literally takes you to the door step.
There are monkeys walking around freely but they are friendly.
There are some wild boks as well walking around.
There is no hammock, I went for the hammock and there wasn't one
The alarm doesn't work
Make sure you get your own fire wood as the nights get cold when it storms/hails, the owner does not tell you that.
The bedsheets in the bedroom with the two single beds had blood on them and the bathroom was dirty. Look inside the cupboard that is under the basin.
We paid a cleaning fee but our apartment was not cleaned the whole time we were there.
There's no sugar, tea or coffee, bring your own.
The gas braai doesn't work.
All amenities are really far from the accommodation, first shopping area is 23 minutes away so I'll suggest that you go here only if you want the peace and quiet.
There is no river view, it's blocked by trees.
No directions to get to the river, there is no staff on the property.

Reviewed Feb 8, 2024Nice place to be at, it's clean and also the staff are very friendly. They are loadshedding ready, swimming pool is clean... They have different board games for all ages... My kids enjoyed and loved everything about the place and to top it all it was our second time booking that place definitely going back again soon.
If I didn't like the place, I wouldn't have returned for the second time :-)

I loved the prompt response regarding everything that we needed.
My children love the pool.
Hubby and I love the peace and quiet.

The bedding and extra towels plus that safety things for the kids. my 4 year old enjoyed swimming with it.
it was nice there are pots and soap to wash the dishes and yes it was a very nice place to be. i would not mind to stay there for a week or so , oh not forgetting the lake side, and that people there are so friendly.
Well the bed is a bid sinking.
