New Way Hotel

Good location comfy beds clean room

Bathroom was disgusting The unit above the toilet leaked the whole time there was mould on the ceiling. We had a cockroach coming into our room through the bathroom and it smelt like asbestos.

Location is excellent for visiting the beach and doing the city or Ha Long day tours. They arrange everything there. Breakfast was good, cooked by the family

The map in booking shows the hotel is in fron of beach but there are new buildings in construction just in front. A lot of noise (cannot blaim the hotel for that)

This hotel is a great choice for travelers who prefer a relaxed pace. If you enjoy unwinding, taking in the views, and staying in one comfortable place for a longer time, this is definitely worth considering.

The staff and the hotel owner were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They went out of their way to help us arrange tours and transportation, which made our trip much smoother and stress-free.

Overall, the hotel offers good value for money and a pleasant stay. One standout feature is that a well-known local tour operator has its main office right inside the hotel, which made booking trips to Ha Long Bay or Lan Ha Bay extremely convenient. This was a big advantage for travelers planning excursions.

Great location and excellent price

The constant construction noise from the resort building across the street in Cat Ba Bay. However this has nothing to do with the hotel or staff

Frisch renoviertes Zimmer. Sehr sauber.

The room was good. Big, clean and comfortable beds. Bathroom was clean overall.

Bathroom smelled weird all the time, we had to keep the door shut. The entire island as well as the Hotel got renovated while we stayed there so everything is currently a big construction project. Had to drive to different beaches a lot because no beach available in front of the Hotel. Staff was friendly but barely available. Called multiple times and waited a lot with no help.

Location and staff

No one at the reception during check in and check out! Had to yell and almost missed my ferry bac!!!

I was only here for one night but I think it was great value for money! Everything is a little old and not everything worked in my room but I think it's totally justified for the price. The location is great, just in front of the promenade, even through there's insane construction going on at the moment.

excellent value for money, excellent location, good breakfast, excellent communication with the staff

Fabulous location and wonderful, friendly staff. The gentleman at the desk was great throughout our stay, ensuring we were comfortable and knew of everything we could do in the area. Most people go to Cat Ba for Lan Ha Bay and the national park so rarely spend many days in the area. Easy to walk to the beaches. The room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable.

There were ants in our room and the hot water didn’t last very long - but it’s an island so I don’t expect a miracle. There is also construction in front of the hotel that will be there until 2027 I believe - not the hotels fault.

The owner was on top of everything , they assisted with all our needs and made the stay as comfotable and pleasant as possible

I prefer a softer bed

Central location

Construction work right before the hotel

Good size room and great breakfast but windows were so thin that all the construction noise comes in 24hours a day.

Bed was very very hard and the massive construction site opposite the hotel that goes 24 hours a day. This hotel is not opposite the water anymore.

Kind people! We arrived at 8am and we could immediately check in and use the room, super nice.

In front of the accommodation there is a lot of construction work going on. They expanded the island so the hotel is not next to the sea anymore.

good price, tasty breakfast, staff should to book for you bus ticket or boat trip

Very well located. Staff very friendly and helpful

Located right in the town center. Confortable bed.

No sea view as there is a huge construction site that will last until 2028 right in front of the building and the room walls needs some maintenance.

The hosts were super kind and caring. The food was good and room was clean and nice. The hotel placed in the center closed to all bars cafes and restaurants. I had a room on 11th floor, it has sunset view. Highly recommended this place for staying.

Had a pleasant stay! The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient. Breakfast offered a good variety of options. Overall, a satisfying experience!

Everything! Room was very cute and big. Staff was nice and it was close to the dragon bridge

we loved everything

The owner was amazing! Very friendly and helped with anything you needed. Room was big, clean and had two beds (which I didn’t need - but was great none the less!) Great location and convenient to explore everywhere on Cat Ba island. You also got free breakfast every morning which I didn’t realise and was a great bonus. Thank you!😊

There are 12 level, and level 12 gave a paranomic view of the sea, the beach. Now the beach is still under reclamation, so the view wasnt as spectaclar as we expected. But still, the night street scene was fantastic from Level 12. There’s hot and cold water for bath and face wash.

The closet has no hanging clothes facilities, the 4 rooms we stayed, the closet has no clothes hanging rod, no hangers. The breakfast is only that regular Vietnamese sandwich and, either coffee or tea, with or without milk. No choice, no fruits.

Very nice for the price you pay! The staff was super nice, attentive, and arranged me a cheap ride to Cat Bi airport. The breakfast was also good and the location is the best you could ask for

The construction completely ruins the view and I was overall disappointed with the town, but that’s nothing to do with the hotel itself

Fantastic view over the bay directly in Cat Ba town. Very nice family owned hotel. Highly recommended.

I recently had a 5-day stay at the Thái Bảo New Way Hotel and was very pleased with my experience. I booked the room through booking.com at a very reasonable price. The hotel offers a delicious traditional Vietnamese breakfast, with dishes like Vietnamese rice noodles (bún) or Vietnamese flat noodles (bánh đa) that were truly delightful. My room had a stunning sea view, which provided a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. The hotel staff were also very friendly and helpful. If you need a continental breakfast, just let the staff know, and they will prepare it for you. I will definitely return for future vacations and will recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

The elevator can be a bit slow when many guests are using it at the same time.

Amazing view over the bay

At the time of our stay, there were construction works going on. So every day there was very loud noise early morning. This is not what I like on my holiday...

Good location, and fantastic view of the water

Didn’t have our booking spent awhile trying to get a room through the phone to someone that spoke English, bathroom was quite dirty, with smelly and loud room. On check out went to pay lots of stickers and front desk said could pay by card, but then was told had to be cash only

They were very friendly. I recommend to stay in the room with sea view because it has a fair price and the view is wonderful. It was clean and it smells like soap and fresh. They always greet us and ask how our day was. They are always happy to see you

Great location, friendly and chilled staff, breakfast is simple fare that sets you up for the day and no more. Rooms spacious and comfortable, great shower.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They upgraded our room to a sea view for free, as they had one available. Excellent location, with nice restaurants and cafes nearby. Room was big and confortable.

The only downside was the breakfast, could be better.

Asked for a private room, they gave it in the hotel next door. Extremely friendly staff with great recommendations. Thank you for your kindness!

1. Exellent location right on the main road, hardly few mins walk from all the waterfront, restaurants & shops around 2. Amazing free breakfast, the best I've had in Vietnam so far. options to choose from eggs, banh mi, noodles, pancakes, soup, Vietnamese coffee, tea and juice. Tasted super yummy. 3. Comfortable beds with towels, blankets, toothbrush/tooth paste provided. 4. Early check-in at no extra charge, provided when arrived from Hanoi at 11am, which was helpful

1. Wifi wasn't very reliable or super fast, was hard to stream any vidoes. Not a deal breaker but if you are working from here, video calls could be an issue. 2. Showers although had hot water, the pressure was way too low. Minor complaint but not a show stopper 3. Dorm beds have no privacy. Huge room with 28 beds but beds don't have privacy curtains

The view was amazing. Very good value. Nice pancakes for breakfast.

We had some problem with the sink drain, but it was fixed.

The rooms are fairly basic with comfortable double beds, a tv and a mini fridge. Air con and fan available but not used during our stay due to cooler weather! The shower was brilliant with good temperatures and water pressure. Free breakfast is served 7-9am so slightly on the earlier side but was tasty albeit simple.

Fairly priced for room with three beds. There's a lot of night life just outside the door and a good base for daytime adventures.

We had 3 twin beds, and we all slept well. The receptionist is very friendly and helped us book a motorbike for three days. The first day, the motorbike ended up not working while we were out of town, and when we called the number painted on the bike, they came within ten minutes with another motorbike for us. The hotel gave us a discount for the inconvenience. We received free breakfast with our stay; we had several choices for food and drinks. The bread was hard/stale, but everything else was delicious. We didn't book any excursions through the hotel, so can not comment on that. Overall, we are very pleased with our stay and would book again here!

View of the bay. Central location.

There is only 1 chair in a double room. Ants in the bath.

Good Location, but literally the only good thing

The worst issue were the bed sheets: really dirty, smelled like used. We couldn't sleep thinking who slept there before... No water pressure to take a shower. The bathroom was scary (that's why they don't have photos...) The owner was a very rude lady, uncapable of even saying yes or no in english. Not interested in foreigners, she just take it for granted. We came here based on the good reviews and good price, but it ended up being a scam for what we got. To be avoid

In theory the hotel is fantastic and could easily have been a clear 10, but there were a few things . Big and clean room with seaview. Kettle in the room. Lots of toiletries supplied. Good WiFi. Excellent location. Fantastic helpful English speaking staff who helped me a lot.

Aircon not working. Yes the weather wasn't hot, but the room was very damp. The towel I used on my first night still wasn't dry after 3 days, and wet clothes from the boat trip Never dried up. Need the aircon to dry the air in the room. It was an electricity cut and the elevator didn't work. I wanted to walk down the steps, but only got to the 2nd floor. Then there was no further way down. The emergency exit pointed towards a little room packed with stuff. REALLY! I was trapped in my room until electricity came back. Normally I support hotel restaurants, but although breakfast was excellent, eating dinner there, becam a one time only. I ordered fried vegetables and plain rice. Not really any hokus pokus, but I got a big plate of boiled cabbage. Cabbage ONLY, not anything like the colourful plate shown on the menu...and a lump of completely cold rice! Couldn't eat much.

I highly recommend this hotel. In the heart of Cat Ba, clean room, hot water, etc...

The hotel is very clean, comfortable, located near the center, very convenient but not noisy. A great place to rest when coming to Cat Ba. Thank you for the enthusiasm and hospitality of New Way hotel Elite staff.

The accommodation is super good, clean, the bed is comfortable and big, the shower comes out with a lot of pressure and super hot! Breakfast is super good! He is super helpful and kind, he helped us with everything. We did the tour with them and we likes it a lot too. The accommodation is in the center, you have the yummy restaurant next door which is very good. Everything great and very cheap.

The service was excellent, the breakfast was pretty good, the view was amazing, and there were bottles of water and coffee for free in the room. Also, the mattress was very comfortable. The lady who works there even offered us some extra fruit, so people wise, it was perfect.

The TV was in a place where it was impossible to watch from the bed. The duvet had some mold stains (but the cover and sheets were pristine, to be fair), the bed made all kinds of sounds with your slightest move, and the fridge was really loud. Also, you couldn't open one door of the wardrobe because the fridge was blocking it. There were no night stands.

The food is quite cheap and delicious. room was very quiet and clean. Tours to the bay are very cheap.

Nice view Good service Food that suits your taste Reasonable prince Come once every year!!!!!!

Room is clean, service is quite good. The room has a TV, kettle, hair dryer, air conditioner, refrigerator. There is also ready-made coffee and lipton tea for customers. The hotel looks straight at the sea so you can watch the sunrise. However, the small room in the middle does not. Breakfast at the hotel is quite good but lunch and dinner are normal. From here, walking to Cat Co 1 beach is only about 300m and Cat Co 3 beach is 850m. As a 3-star hotel, the hotel has a generator. When Cat Ba had a power cut, there was still electricity to run the air conditioner.

Very nice location, convenient for guests to bathe and away from the hustle and bustle of town.

The location is very good with all room sea view and quite place, you can rent motorcycles in front, the breakfast is tasty, the room is spacious, bright, clean and comfortable. Bao was the best, he is super friendly and he cares that we have a good time, the one day tour that he also helped us with transportation to Ninh Binh, offering us different options at very good princes. Without a doubt, we recommend it 100% and we would stay there again. Thank you so much for everything!!

There is a good quality price relation. The room is good, it has two beds where you sleep well, a refrigerator and a sink inside the room. In the morning you have included a typical Vietnamese sandwich (Banh mi) and a coffee or tea. Although I didn't need it because it wasn't hot, the air conditioning didn't work, that's why I give it 4 stars and not 5. It is located in the tourist area of the island, so within a few minutes walk you will find a variety of shops and restaurants

The service quality of the staff is good, friendly and hospitable. Clean rooms, new facilities. Support for booking high quality tours.

Good service quality, friendly and hospitable staff, high quality tour booking support, clean rooms and new facilities.

Thoughtful hotel, enthusiastic support. Receive customer feedback with a positive attitude.

Great location near all the restaurants. Superb view of the bay. Breakfast was good and staff friendly.

No heat or aircon room felt damp. Shower was either very hot or very cold

Location was so good. The view was stunning. You pay what you get.

Where to begin… the tomato for breakfast came on the plate with mold. They gave us the laundry still partially wet. The room had a nasty smell.

The view to the sea was amazing! Room was big enough, nice big bathroom.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel during my weekend getaway, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. Nestled in a vibrant neighborhood, this charming hostel provided a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

Best value for money we got in Vietnam. The room was very nice and the staff was very friendly and helped us out with booking tours and bus to next location, would definitely recommend

Dude at reception is the best, extremely nice and actually was the one who made our stay at Cat Ba great. Book the bus for us, changed the cruise we booked so we would get picked up right after to a bus to hanoi. Let us change rooms without asking questions (shower hadn't warmed up yet in our first room) extremely low price and location is great. Prices both for rooms, bikes, busses and tours are great.

Insane value for money. Also, Bao helped us so much with all sorts of things. His English is perfect and he's very kind.

Location and view from my room was amazing both day and night. The french doors opened so you had a small balcony of sorts. I loved to have them open when I was in the room either listening or watching the world go by. Plenty of space and good facilities and the elevator of course came in very handy! You are on the doorstep of many cafes, restaurants and bars. The 3 main beaches are a maximum 30 minute stroll away. There was a choice of 6 breakfast items, although basic they were tasty enough to give you a good start to the day. They had plenty of information about tours, scooter rental and travel options. I took a 1 day Ha Long Bay cruise and wasn't dissapointed. Bao is such a friendly and polite host, he really seems to enjoy his work along with the family at New Way. I was a little bit sad to leave Cat Ba Island as i've made some great memories there.

Great location in Cat Ba. Worth paying a little extra for the amazing sea view, and breakfast was delicious. Very friendly staff :)

Beds quite hard but that’s very common in Vietnam!

Everything was nice in thst Hotel. Very nice view from the room. Very good breakfast and Coffee.Very hospitility owners.

Nothing

Well located right on the strip for bars, restaurants and tours

Property is very dated, rooms need facelift. Things are broken like the bathroom door. It’s not spotless by any means. Balcony door lets air/mosquitos in as it doesn’t close properly. Beds not too comfortable, quite hard. It took us a while to check In as at times no one is at the desk! Breakfast is beyond basic not a lot of choice and you order from a menu. Only ate it 2 of the 4 days as result. To be honest it’s cheap and cheerful for your stay in Cat Ba you can’t expect a lot more you get what you pay for.

We spent 3 nights in this hotel to visit Cat Ba, it was very good! Spacious private room with bathroom, no complaints about hygiene. Very good location, unbeatable quality/price ratio whether for the room or the activities (motorbike rental 3.5e/day, day boat trip in Ha Lan Bay for 15e...). Breakfast included at the Banh Mi stand at the end of the street: a coffee and a sandwich to start the day off right! One more star just for Bao, the receptionist, who is incredible! Very kind, smiling with impeccable English. I recommend 100%

Nothing to dislike

The people are really friendly and always ready to help. It is definitely worth its money! I spend 6 nights here and would do it again. In the end, they forgot to put my laundry in the dryer the day I left.. so they sent it to Hanoi!! Super kind!

Perfect location, magnificent rooms and very friendly receptionist, who speaks English perfectly! The location is fantastic, a stone's throw from the docks. Breakfast included: at the banh mi stand on the same street! In addition, accommodation offers activities at unbeatable prices (1 day cruise = 450,000 dong)

Stayed three nights, Bao was always ready to help you throughout the day. Spoke English well and very friendly. Rooms were okay. It was a good stay, and you can't beat the location and price, of course.

We had to move rooms once because of the noise from the elevator.

We spent 5 days here with included breakfast (banh mi and coffee), which was great. The staff is very sweet and helpful (and really good at English). The hostel is more of a hotel and has great rooms and elevator. We also booked a boat cruise through them that we highly recommend (450K for 9 hours, kayak, bike tour, lunch). Thank you for a great stay

No complaints what so ever!

Super friendly and enthusiastic staff with good skills. Will come back and recommend to everyone.

Nothing

Guide Brian made the experience memorable. We enjoyed great food, clean and comfortable rooms, and spectacular views. Some onboard activities could be more diverse to cater to various preferences.
