Alto do Forte

Wir haben uns eher spontan für dieses Hotel entschieden da wir einige Tage in Ponta Delgada direkt verbringen wollten. Das Hotel liegt in einer top Lage. Die Altstadt und Sehenswürdigkeiten (zB Ananasplantage) sind zu Fuß erreichbar. Auch mit dem Auto gibt es kein Problem, da das Hotel über eine eigene Parkgarage verfügt. Die Anreise und Kommunikation ist einfach. Es gibt keinen Schlüssel, sondern nur PIN Codes. Das ist toll. Die Zimmer/Apartments sind top ausgestattet und man fühlt sich wohl. Die Klimaanlage ist ein großer Pluspunkt im Sommer und kühlt das Zimmer angenehm ab. Der Spa-Bereich ist ausreichend groß und wenig besucht. Er bietet von Pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Dampfbad alles was man braucht. Das Frühstück ist top und sehr gut. Die Mitarbeiter sind äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich würde auf jeden Fall wieder dort wohnen und kann es 100% empfehlen.

This is a nice luxury apartment with full service, close to the city center and still in a quiet area. Breakfast was great and staff is very responsive throughout the stay. Grocery stores are a 5 min walk away while downtown is 10 mins. Highly recommended.

Прекрасные апартаменты! Кухня оснащена всем необходимым. Персонал очень приветливый и заботливый. Уборка в апартаментах каждый день. Завтраки хорошие, но не очень разнообразные. Большой плюс- свой паркинг. Мы брали машину напрокат и нам это было важно. Хоть заезд в него и немного крутоват, мы заезжали и выезжали без проблем. Есть небольшой и хороший бассейн , а также сауна, но мы ею не пользовались, потому что и так было жарко на улице. Нам всё очень понравилось- и эти апартаменты и этот прекрасный остров!

Всё понравилось, но хотелось большего разнообразия на завтраках..

C’est tout neuf et super bien aménagé et équipé (piscine, sauna, hamam, jaccuzi...). Le personnel est très accueillant et souriant. Nous avons la chance d’être surclassé gratuitement ce qui a permis aux enfants de dormir dans de bons lits douillets plutôt qu'un canapé lit.

L'accès au parking gratuit est assez acrobatique mais très bien aménagé. En Clio c’est facile. Avec une grosse berline...

Das war Frühstück war an sich ausreichend, ich als Kaffetrinker, bin auf Strecke geblieben mit der Kapsel Maschine.

The accommodation was very clean, it looked exactly as pictured on website. Pleasant and helpful staff throughout. Lovely complete breakfast served from 8-10am, and we enjoyed it every morning of our stay of 5 days. Wonderful air conditioning in unit and we were able to adjust the temperature in each room to our liking. Washer on balcony was perfect, and I actually enjoyed doing our laundry and hanging it to dry on the provided clothes rack in the evening.

There was no lighting over the stove, which made it hard to cook later in the evening. The bathrooms were generous, but lacked any additional storage space beside the sink top. These things were minor and wouldn't keep me from booking again in the future!

Grosse, moderne Wohnung, freundliche, hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter, Poolanlage, sogar bei unserer sehr frühen Abreise haben wir eine Lunchbox für das Frühstück erhalten.

Excellent apartment with good balcony space and sun loungers. Kitchen facilities were good: oven, dishwasher, kettle, coffee machine, decent sized fridge. Pool and internal hot tub.

Only negatives the garage is tight for larger cars, required several turns to get into the ramp down to level -3 and it’s true that the exit is so steep in the rain our Nissan quashqaui (sp) slid back down after the door closed and we had to stop. It couldn’t get any traction so my husband took it back and I stood under the garage door to keep it open so he could drive straight up and out. We parked on the street the next night. As an FYI it’s a steep hill to walk up to the apartment from town but it’s not too hard.

Ein rundum perfekter Aufenthalt! Das Hotel ist absolut sauber und sehr modern eingerichtet – hier fühlt man sich sofort wohl. Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig und bieten viel Platz zum Entspannen. Das Apartment bietet zudem eine vollständig eingerichtete Küche. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die hervorragende Lage: sowohl der Hafen als auch die Innenstadt sind in wenigen Minuten bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen. Die Mitarbeiter waren äußerst freundlich und immer absolut hilfsbereit, die Kommunikation inkl. Check-in-Prozess erfolge per WhatsApp, was das ganze zusätzlich erleichtert hat. Wir können das Hotel absolut weiterempfehlen und würden jederzeit wieder dort bleiben!

It was clean, it had a great view, the staff were very helpful, the free breakfast was delicious.

Getting into the parking lot was a bit precarious, but we managed. The entrance to the parking garage is extremely steep.

A wonderful centrally located accommodation in Ponta Delgada. Our unit was huge, stylishly decorated with all the amenities and the generous balcony overlooking the city centre. The staff were extremely helpful and responsive and went out of their way to meet all our needs. Highly recommended!

Staff and apartments are wonderful! Staff were so responsive and helpful and the apartment was beautiful and well stocked with everything you could need.

Mindre ting men havde opfordring til at tænke bæredygtigt hvor genanvendelse af håndklæder var ønskeligt. Vi hængte håndklæder til tørre med henblik på "genbrug" men blev alligevel skiftet hver dag !

Helt utrolig hjælpsomt og informativt personale, der kom med mange gode anbefalinger - som vi ikke selv ville have fundet. Super lækker morgenmad, nemt med parkering, og var der det mindste kunne vi blot skrive via what’s app, og vi fik svar retur med det samme. Dejligt spa-område også. Dejligt med kode til dørene, så alt var nøglefrit.

Vi kunne lide det hele.

Location was perfect for exploring the island as well as Ponta Delgada, with a covenient parking garage. The apartmant was spotless, very spacious and comfortable. 10/10

best place to stay in ponta delgada. parking is included - the rooms are spacious and newly decorated - super clean and super nice people. good options for breakfast too. close to a lot of great restaurants. you can also relax in the sauna and the jacuzzi after a day of hiking. there’s also an outdoor pool available on site that we havent used due to the weather. you have everything you might need for a longer stay - including a clothes washing machine.

Acesso ao hotel, centro da cidade de ponta delgada mas um sítio muito calmo e tranquilo, zero barulho durante a noite. Estacionamento no hotel ou até na rua do hotel. Prático, código de acesso ao hotel, ao quarto e ao estacionamento. Limpeza 5*, quarto praticamente novo. Deixam toalhas de cor com o objetivo de se poder utilizar nas águas termais.

Espaço e serviço do Pequeno Almoço. Os produtos são bons, com alguma variedade. Esperava ainda mais produtos locais (como por exemplo ananás, banana, etc) Poucas mesas, pouco apoio em termos de funcionário. Os hóspedes é que limpam e arrumam a sua própria mesa para que outros possam servir. TV no local poderia estar a mostrar fotos e locais da ilha mas por sua vez está a transmitir uma lareira.

Appartement spacieux, classe, confortable, et très bien placé pour visiter le centre. Restaurants à proximité. Garage très appréciable, même si l'accès est un peu étroit. Possibilité d'arriver à n'importe quelle heure en autonomie et de partir tôt : le petit déjeuner (top) est mis à disposition dans un panier la veille. Accueil impeccable.

Il manque peut-être quelques patères et étagères dans la salle de bain, sinon c'est parfait 👍

The apartment was very nicely decorated, super clean and it had everything we needed. The staff was very nice. Overall communication was very easy. Great location also. We enjoyed our stay at Alto do Forte.

The staff were extremely helpful and available when it came to planning the next steps of our trip, putting us in contact with a really excellent local guide, advising on hikes and logistics, and opening breakfast early for us one morning. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to an apartment that had 2 bedrooms, and it was really lovely, with a lot of space, and 2 terraces with wonderful views from the sea over the town to the mountains. Breakfast was very good, and the jacuzzi and sauna a big hit with the teenagers. Pool area was lovely when the sun was out, though in April the water was still too cold really to swim. Location is great as long as you don't mind a stroll into town. Everything at the hotel is very fresh, clean, modern and tasteful.

The apartment was spacious and bright! The breakfast was good, the location was perfect for the last day to relax after hiking all week. We had the spa all to ourselves!

Alto do forte The accommodation has ample parking although the entrance to get in and out is intimidating, but once you get used to it, it’s easy to navigate. The parking is safe, secure and you can get the lift straight to the rooms to the garage and vice versa. It isn’t as clear though where the lifts are inside the parking garage so signage could be clear to avoid people hiking back up the steep decline the car came in from. The accommodation is beautiful, very modern and plenty of space to put away your clothes with towels being changed everyday and rooms cleaned everyday. There’s plates, mugs, cutlery, utensils, frying pan and a kettle and coffee maker. I’d advise you to buy some sugar or sweetener if required and bring some fairy liquid and surface cleansing wipes just to maintain the hygiene whilst cooking or making food at the apartment. They do provide some dishwasher tablets however! I brought my own dish cloth and hand cloths for wiping dishes and hands after reading the initial reviews and im glad i did, as the apartment doesn’t provide this. I also brought my own tea bags as we drink at least two cups a day between us. The apartment could do with providing some cling film, foil or some sandwich bags/ lunch boxes which would be super helpful for families staying here, we went to the local supermarket and brought some. We also brought some additional toilet rolls not realising there’s some spares under the sinks if you push press the draw. The apartment had a hairdryer but not a very powerful one so I did bring my own, I’m glad I did. They do provide you an iron and ironing board upon request and there is a washing machine and some laundry detergent as well as some laundry pegs although I haven’t quite discovered where to dry the laundry yet. The bathrooms are modern, clean and well maintained. The drain sometimes can be slow to drain but the showers are hot and hand wash and shower gel is provided.

Great quality and spacious for a ‘small’ appearing hotel. We had a one bedroom apartment. Kitchen and dining area very nice! We used the pull out sofa bed in the living area. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms didn’t feel cramped with the sofa bed pulled out like traditional hotel rooms. Ground floor lobby was very inviting and breakfast area comfortable and good quality. One dish of hot cooked eggs seemed to be the standard each morning, and the rest was continental style. Very responsive staff and very friendly and helpful in communications before arriving and throughout our stay. Enjoyed the sauna and the hot tub! We went late March and the AC units were also for heat which kept the room very comfortable. Location was excellent for walking to the marina where we had meeting points for activities. And walkable to all the main areas in Ponta Delgada. Steps away from the iconic church.

If I had to really find something it’s that our room was next to the road so we didn’t want to open drapes wide for privacy, and there wasn’t really a view. But there were 3-4 floors so one level up probably felt more private. It was however a very quiet road and it felt like good sound insulated windows. There was a safety/emergency exit light above the door which was extremely bright at night so we had to cover it with a small towel for the person sleeping on the sofa bed. We forgot to ask the front desk if there was anything they could do but we found our own makeshift solution.

Room reasonable size, clean and reasonably equipped, although it could do with suitcase stands. Breakfast good. Facilities good pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, Turkish bath. Underground garage to save your rental cars wing mirrors. Staff friendly.

No message sent with key code for door, necessary as reception is not staffed 24×7. In addition staff took over 20 minutes to respond when fire alarm went off at the weekend as no one on site. This only after they were telephoned. If it had been a real emergency this could have been disastrous. Otherwise plastic covered sofa in room not comfy and limited hanging space for clothes compounded by no suitcase stands (try using a couple of dining chairs).

The apartment was relatively clean (compared to other hotels I've stayed in 6), but could be cleaner (mostly bathroom and floors). And spa area - jacuzzi, wasn't clean.

O apartamento tem tudo o que precisamos, o staff é muito simpático e profissional. Estava frio para a piscina exterior, mas aproveitámos bem o jacuzzi, sauna e banho turco. O pequeno almoço é bom e variável. A localização é excelente para ir a pé ao centro. Recomendo.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The apartment we stayed in was very spacious and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped, we even did a bit of cooking during our stay and could find everything we needed. The hotel staff was very helpful, they kept in touch on WhatsApp during our stay and gave us recommendations. They even helped us book tables at different restaurants. The staff was also happy to turn the sauna on when asked which we greatly enjoyed after a long day of sightseeing. Also, huge plus for the free underground parking garage.

Nothing really, more like recommendations. There was no place by the entrance to hang our coats, even though there was plenty of space. A kitchen towel in the kitchen would've been really useful! Also, our towels were replaced most of the days, even though we didn't throw them on the ground (they were just hanging in the bathroom). Again, not an issue, just something we noticed.
