Nothing
This was an absolute nightmare. The host lacks basic decency, professionalism, and humanity, exhibiting clear nationality-based discrimination and toxic behavior towards a visiting family. My family (women and children) arrived exhausted after a long journey. Knowing I wasn't physically present at the exact moment of check-in, the host engaged in unreasonable, extortionate, and bad-faith practices: Discriminatory Attitude: Because the reservation was made using my Saudi contact number, the host assumed we were Gulf tourists. The moment he realized upon arrival that my family is Egyptian, he visibly expressed his resentment, explicitly stating: "I thought you were non-Egyptians!" He immediately changed his demeanor to become hostile and demanding. Fabricated Excuses Regarding Booking Name: He claimed the booking wasn't in my wife's name even though it was under my name (the primary account holder)—which is fully aligned with Booking.com rules. To eliminate his excuse, I modified the guest details on the app immediately. Extortion of Additional Fees: He demanded an extra 1,500 EGP for "cleaning fees" on top of the standard $100 security deposit. We paid it solely to settle my exhausted family. Stranding the Family After Check-in: After my family carried all their luggage upstairs into the apartment, he suddenly cancelled the reservation and refused to accommodate them. Preemptive Clarification on Guest Count & Property Policy: To prevent the host from fabricating claims regarding capacity: The booking was officially registered for 3 adults and 3 children. The actual group that arrived was 3 adults, 4 children, and 1 infant. According to the explicit Child Policy published on his own property page on Booking.com, which states: "All children are welcome when using existing bedding", the presence of the children and infant was fully compliant with his listed terms.
