The property is so charming. Kylie was the most wonderful and lovely host - we were doing a bike ride in the area and she bent over backwards to accommodate us. Getting to feed and play with the animals was a fantastic experience, would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The room was a perfect size for my husband and I and had everything we needed. All the details were so lovely (the robes provided, plenty of towels, the kitchen appliances, I even loved the brand of soap). The breakfast was amazing! We ate all of the fresh eggs which we both agreed were much better than store bought and the coffee was really good. The homemade bread was delicious and all the fruits and sweets and cereals provided were great. Everything felt very luxurious! Such a beautiful place. Thank you for having us Kylie!

Loved everything about this property - beautiful and peaceful surrounding, excellent breakfast with fresh bread and brownies provided, very comfortable bed and well thought out set up of the place that thought of everything you could possibly want or need. Very friendly and helpful host as well. This place is also located only 20 mins from Hobbiton.

We had such a cosy and memorable stay on this beautiful property. Every detail had been so thoughtfully considered, which made the whole experience feel incredibly special and welcoming. It was a joy getting to say hello to the chickens and lambs — such a lovely touch that added to the charm of the place. Kylie was an absolutely incredible host: warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had the best stay possible. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect getaway and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and unique escape. Would definitely come back to spend more time !!

A very spacious and well looked after property in a convenient location just on the edge of Matamata. All the sights (including Hobbiton™ Movie Set) are just a short drive away. The accommodation is well-equipped, with a large living area and a well-designed kitchenette where you can easily cook a full bacon’n’egg breakfast with the well-stocked supplies. The sweet treats and homemade bread were very delicious. All the bathroom amenities were excellent! Kylie was an exceptional host whenever we had any queries, but otherwise kept a low profile to give plenty of privacy the rest of the time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! *\(^o^)/*

Kylie the host is exceptional. So much love put into this property and Incredible detail. There is home-made bread, Farm fresh eggs, little sweet treats, fresh yoghurt and fruit. There are beautiful Aesop products in the bathroom, Dyson hairdryer and there’s even a pillow menu ! More than what you get a five star hotel these days. You can feed the sheep and the little baby pigs and the chickens if you like - adds to the beautiful Farm experience. Highly recommend.

Great comfortable place to stay. Great for kids, our toddler loved the animals and riding the little toy car around. Great breakfast for the morning. The host was very accomodating.

Kylie is really very enthusiastic. She prepared freshly baked bread, as well as farm-fresh eggs. All the items are of high quality. The children are also very cute. Thank you all. I wish everything goes well. If you want to visit Hobbit Town, this place is definitely the best place to stay. It's very convenient to have meals in the town and it's only a 2-minute drive from the meeting point.

It was modern, clean, comfortable. The hostess left delicious brownies, ice cream, fruit, fresh (still warm) bread, fresh orange juice, milk, and bacon and eggs (which we cooked) for breakfast. The nespresso machine with milk frother was great too. The apartment is very private, and very close to Matamata.

Very comfortable stay and super clean. There was an exceptional attention to details, which we loved. The host was welcoming and very kind. Homemade bread and yogurt. Peaceful and quiet. Fabulous.

Our stay was really lovely. Upon arrival we walked in to freshly made bread + brownies and cookies. The hosts went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. We also got to feed the resident sheep which was a cool bonus. All round an amazing stay. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

The beds were super comfortable, the setting nice and quiet, and everything was sparkling clean, but it was all the little details that made this charming B&B so exceptional. Home made bread and yogurt, delicious brownies, fresh eggs from chickens across the pasture!!! And Kylie is an excellent host!

One of the loveliest stays ever with the most welcoming and thoughtful host! She provided amazing breakfast for you and even toys for our son - her kids were playing with our son and he loved the animals and everything! Would always come back again!!

Best place ever

Kylie was such a responsive and accommodating host! Her place was cozy, well appointed and had the best shower of our entire stay in New Zealand. We got all kinds of delicious goodies and she was kind enough to allow my son and I to feed her sheep and chickens. We had so much fun and would definitely stay again.

The host Kylie was very responsive before we arrived (answering all questions on directions, tickets for Hobbiton, etc) and during our stay. She is awesome! We also loved the tastefully decorated B and B room and homemade bread, yogurt, and raised yogurt.

We were a bit nervous around the dog at the property but that is likely because we don’t have pets ourselves. I’m sure most others would find the dog just fine! Beyond that the yard is wonderful with space for kids/teens to play or get exercise and a sweet courtyard to drink morning coffee.

Matamata Bed and Breakfast was very comfortable and clean.. Kylie, our host was amazing. We were greeted on arrival. Kylie baked us fresh bread for breakfast and had delicious brownies waiting for us. The fridge was stocked with fresh eggs and juice and milk and there were lots of other items for a full breakfast and snacks for munching There was also a coffee machine for the guests along with all sorts of teas for tea person like me. All ameneties were catered for. Kylie even left icecream in the freezer which we enjoyed as a late night snack. Cannot fault the place. We had a great stay thanks to a great host. Deserves nothing but 5 stars.

Cozy. Intimate. Clean. Contemporary. Warm. Well stocked. Yummy bread. The host put in special effort to mk her guests feel at home. She went out of her way and we felt very valued! Loved picking eggs, seeing the sheep and playing with Charlie, their cute dog. Kids loved playhouse and trampoline. Freshly baked warm bread awaited is on arrival with butter, bacon and fresh eggs. Kids loved the cereal and Jams fruits and chocolate.

The B&B was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The bed was so comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. Our host, Kylie, was so welcoming and provided us with warm freshly made bread which was delicious. We only stayed one night but wished we could extend our stay. We will definitely book it again if we come back to New Zealand.

This cozy B&B was excellent and I couldn't recommend the host any higher to anyone looking for an exceptional stay in the beautiful Matamata region. The host went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The living space was clean and spacious with a generous amount of utensils and tools for all our needs. The place was very easy to find and was quiet so we got a fantastic sleep. Again, could not recommend the host any higher as they were extraordinary, they even made us a loaf of fresh bread as a welcome present!

This was a wonderful stop for us with so many thoughtful touches. From the attention to detail on our booking, leading to them making up a bed for my preschooler and setting out some toys, to the clear directions for finding the place, tasty treats waiting for us in the room, and just a nice relaxing homey atmosphere. The room was really thoughtfully curated with extra chargers, toiletries, towels, robes, reading material, games, etc. A great place for either a couple or a small family. A big plus for my family was a big yard for my 3 year old to play in with a trampoline and play house, plus two kids to play with. She even got to feed the chickens and sheep! We had a great visit and would definitely come again.

Love the star gazing by the fire but perhaps complete darkness would be cool but only if the friendly doggie is ok with it.

Lovely stay with friendly hosts that helped us out quite a lot. Lovely little cottage which was comfortable, warm and cosy after a long day of travel. Loved the food and drinks provided.

An absolute treasure of a B&B. The best B&B I have stayed in. Self contained units can sometimes be a bit hit or miss but this was spectacular. Kylie and Logan provided for the perfect stopover for our time in Matamata—they have provided a charming space with many thoughtful touches. The homemade bread was SO delicious and all of the breakfast items have given us a good jump start to our day. We would highly recommend this stay for anyone considering the Matamata area.

Everything you could ever need or want when travelling abroad. Kylie made sure that your every need was catered for. The absolute best products in the shower, my hair has never been so soft! Beautifully decorated, comfortable & clean room with a plush king sized bed, generous sized bathroom, entertainment for the kids, stunning farm views during the day, and star gazing opportunities at night. Homemade bread, cookies & delicious home made yoghurt, fresh fruits, butter, milk, juice, cereals, nuts, freshly laid eggs all generously provided for breakfast/brunch accompanied by a surprisingly well equipped kitchenette to prepare meals. Kylie & Logan are incredibly welcoming & generous hosts who absolutely spoilt us during our stay.

Everything. Very nice, modern, well furnished and equiped apartment with nice kitchen and comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious, fresh home made bread, house eggs, home made jogurt was fabulous and fruits from the garden, milk and orange juice was on the fridge and home made cookies were absolutely delicious. I’m coffee lover so I appreciated nesspresso machine with milk steamer (fresh milk was available in the fridge ). I was also very nicely suprised with dyson hairdryer which you can’t see even in the most luxurious hotel. Moreover Kylie (host) was very nice, let our dauther to play in their garden, she let her feed her chickens and ship and let us to take some fruits from her garden. We stayed just for one night, but it was great stay and when we’ll come back to New Zealand we’ll definitely stay here again. Absolutely recommend Matamata country B&B 👍

Kylie has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. From the Aesop bath lotions to the homemade baked bread delivered warm and fresh in the morning, every detail has been well thought out.

Only thing I would say is that the room got quite cold in the evening - possibly the heat pump needs to be serviced.

Everything felt incredibly welcoming. Kylie was very attentive and thoughtful. The cottage was very comfortable. We really appreciated the fresh bread, brownies, fruit and other provisions. It is a very convenient location for visiting Hobbiton.
