Fabulous supplies, both food and amenities. Swift response to any issues. Amazing view. Very clean amd well kept.

Smell of sewer in one bathroom. We didn’t mention it while we were there, so to be honest the hosts had no chance to do anything about it. Would have been nice with an outside dining table you could sit around

A casa é incrível, foi umas das melhores hospedagens que tivemos na vida. Bem equipada com utensílios novos, excelente localização em Pinhão e limpeza impecável Tiveram um cuidado de, além do berçário, deixar toalha infantil para nossa bebê. Na geladeira deixaram tudo para nossos dias de café da manhã, muita água em garrafas, cápsulas de café, chá e ainda uma garrafa de vinho do Porto para degustarmos. Ótimas camas também. Enfim, tudo perfeito para curtir essa região incrível!

É uma escada em espiral, para subir aos quartos com as malas grandes é um pequeno esforço, mas isso não atrapalhou em nada a experiência!

Da vista! Das comodidades, casa bem guarnecida, muito bom gosto na decoraçao, dentro e fora da casa. Ambiente acolhedor, inclusivé para a nossa cadela!

Ausência de persianas ou portadas, entrando a luz muito cedo nos quartos...apenas um pormenor.

Alojamento muito limpo, camas muito confortáveis, atoalhados mais que suficientes para uma família de 4 pessoas. Frigorífico muito bem abastecido. Cozinha muito bem equipada. Excelente vista de rio.

The house and the garden are beautiful

We didn't succeed to open the air conditioning in the living room. It was hard to find the property because waze isn't accurate

Breathtaking view. Air-conditioning in both bathrooms. We really appreciated the welcoming gifts and intentions. The fridge was filled with groceries, ready to use for tosta mista and plenty of water. The owners even thought about our dogs and prepared their little basked with water bowls and collapsable bowls to take during walks. The rooms have anti-mosquito devices. Pinhão is a beautiful and cosy little village to visit.

The place was spotless, really clean and well looked after. The view was absolutely amazing and made the stay extra special. We also really appreciated the great recommendations from the host, they made a big difference to our trip. The breakfast provided in the fridge was superb and such a thoughtful touch. The bathrooms were lovely, and everything was well equipped including a great outdoor BBQ area, which we really enjoyed. Overall, it was a fantastic stay.

The only reason we gave it a 9 instead of a 10 is that we specifically chose the property for the swimming pool, which unfortunately wasn’t working during our stay. Also, the directions to the property — especially along the gravel road — could have been clearer.

Everything was great! The view was amazing. We had a lot of fun watching the cars and busses try to get past each other on the old bridge below. We spent a lot of time on the deck/terrace, just watching the town. Town was quiet, but we had a lovely port tasting at Quinta da Noval. We were surprised upon check in to find a fridge stocked with bottled water, eggs, meat, cheese, orange juice and milk. And......in the corner was a decanter of port. It was delicious and she makes it herself!

The amazing location, with both stunning views from the property and easy access, without a car, to so much to see and do. There were only two of us but there was plenty of room for four to spread out and enjoy the special features that have been created. We appreciated the provisions for breakfast ... and the welcome port!

It was tricky to get the kettle to work.

Härlig utsikt från verandan. Fanns en hel del mat i kylen och även bröd och frukt. Samt en karaff portvin! Allt var mycket välkommet!

Väldigt osköna kuddar, hittade dock tunnare vi kunde byta till. Luktade surt på badrummet.

Wonderful house with a stunning view convenient to many vineyards, boat tours and restaurants. This place was comfy and well-equipped, and the host was so kind to leave us lots of food and a carafe of port. The area is beautiful, and we enjoyed being able to visit the area without a car. We highly recommend!

It was a beautiful property with stunning views! They thought of everything to make your stay pleasant and comfortable! A generous amount of groceries were available in the fridge for breakfast along with a variety of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fruit! They even had Port for you to enjoy! The apartment was very clean and well stocked! The beds and linens were good quality!

The first bedroom on the right has a shower that drains very slowly! I am sure this is an easy fix! Also some maintenance could be done on the pool area! This is a wonderful property for able bodied people! The steep incline to the property might be challenging to people with mobility issues! The spiral staircase might also be challenging to those with mobility issues!

Sportlicher Parkplatz für das Auto

Fantastic location within easy walking distance of local restaurants with great views of the Pinhão river and lots of charming places to sit and read apart from the rest of the party if required! We arrived by train from Porto and had no difficulties finding the place. The house was very well equipped and clean and whilst we didn’t meet the hosts they did respond promptly to messages.

Nothing really. I had worked out from maps that it sat above a road which is well used, but once you accept a little traffic noise it’s not an issue and very quiet at night.

A Casa da Encosta foi a casa mais bem equipada onde já ficamos...tem tudo o que é preciso para uma estadia confortável. As vistas são fantásticas, tanto o exterior como interior da casa reúnem todas as condições para convívios com família e amigos de forma prazerosa. Camas super confortáveis, tudo muito limpo e os produtos do pequeno almoço deixados no frigorífico. Comunicação fácil com anfitrião, que acomodou os nossos pedidos.

O único ponto que gostaria de melhorar seria o tamanho da piscina...acho que tornaria a casa ainda mais fantástica. Mas não tenho nenhum aspecto negativo a apontar na estadia.

Rien . La maison n est pas vraiment adaptée pour des enfants en bas âge ou personnes en mobilité réduite car il y a des escaliers étroits.

L'emplacement est idéal, le confort et les équipements au top. Sejour très agréable en famille, tout est fait pour passer un bon moment.

Muito confortável para 2 casais, com tudo o que é necessário para uma estadia mais longa. Cozinha totalmente equipada. Vista maravilhosa. Fomos recebidos com muitos suprimentos, que nos ajudaram bastante à noite. Recomendo fortemente.

Localisation extraordinaire, vue sur la rivière et le Douro, sur la Quinta et sur le village de Pinhao. L’organisation du jardin et de la piscine, du comptoir pour luncher face à la rivière.

Everything - every detail is thought through. This makes a huge difference when you’re looking for a home from home experience. From the well equipped kitchen to the everything you need to start a fire, we felt fully prepared.

Incredibly difficult to be critical. My only feedback would be that the pillows could be a little bit more comfortable but I’m really clutching at straws.

The view, pool, rooms, utilities and fruit garden

Casa Da Encosta is beautiful, and totally exceeded our expectations - truly a home from home. Professionally staged photographs can make modest properties look much better than they are in reality, but in this case they do not do justice to this fantastic house and gardens. The facilities are first class, and the very generous complimentary food and drinks provided were excellent. The house is really spacious and is in a great position right on the edge of Pinhão. It's elevated position above the river affords beautiful panoramic views, and we could have sat on the fantastic terrace for hours watching the aerobatics of the swifts and swallows, or the eagles and kites soaring overhead. Temperatures were unseasonably high when we visited in mid-June - approaching 40 degrees - so having the (small but perfect) swimming pool and the shade of the fruit trees was a Godsend. Pinhão itself is a lovely small town, in a great position on the River Douro, with excellent cafes and restaurants. We certainly hope to make a return trip, and we will definitely hope to stay again in Casa Da Encosta. Obrigado for everything!

I'll be honest - I didn't love the walk up the hill in the severe heat - but the rewards awaiting in Casa Da Encosta made it well worth it.

Beautiful house in a stunning location overlooking the Duoro Valley. An easy walk of about 12 minutes into the town of Pinhao. The house had everything you could ever need and the hosts provided lots of food for a great breakfast. The cherries were beautiful!

A steep drive and difficult parking initially.

the location and view were fantastic. the house itself was well equipped amd comfortable. nothing was overlooked!

The house is amazing! There are 2 bedrooms with private bathrooms. The kitchen has everything you need for your stay. The owner has left fruits and coffee and the fridge was full. The communication with him was perfect. I hope we can come back to this wonderful house again.

The view, the location. Very well equiped. Even when it was raining we could eat outside.

Great location and beautiful views with well appointed house and generously supplied breakfast and snack foods. All the rooms were very comfortable and the outside patio was a real bonus.

The driveway up to the house is all rocks and gravel with overgrown plants so almost dangerous to get up the steep driveway. Owners should consider fixing that driveway. The pool was too dirty to use but the grounds were well kept and nice.

The owner provided all information needed for the check in. The house is great with a nice view over the river and the bridge. It is equipped with everything we needed. If you come by car, the access road is rough but you can leave the car along the main road.

Similar to other reviews, this is an amazing place. Perfectly situated. Breakfast provisions were plentiful and yummy! Lots of bottled water and we didn’t discover the decanter of port until the day we were leaving!😂 Sitting on the balcony in the morning with the sun shining on you, drinking coffee, watching folks come and go, is so nice. And in the evening with the lights from the river walk 😍We parked our car outside the gate and had no issues.

While the road up was rough, it’s nothing that you can’t handle in most cars. However, sports cars that ride low would likely be challenged. And for guests with mobility issues, this would be a tough walk up and down.

Well equipped, clean home in a beautiful location. Would happily stay here again.

Didn’t stay long enough.

This was the most amazing property. It has absolutely stunning views. I honestly could sit there all day and watch the world go by. The property was clean and had everything you’d need The fridge was stocked with meats, cheese, eggs , milk and juice. There was bread, cookies and port too. Such a great place for us for our 3 nights. Quick response from the host when we had a few questions. Not to be missed.

Like everyone else has said before, the road is a bit sketchy. Our car made it up okay but we decided to leave it be for the 3 days we were there. Didn’t need it anyway.

Beautiful views from this location and so many special touches from the host - from the stocked fridge and pantry to all items to use for an outdoor bbq, lush pool towels and a decanter of port left for us to enjoy! The host was always prompt in getting back to us and even made dinner reservations for our first nite of arrival! Loved this place and the town of Pinhao!

The drive up and parking the car was a little challenging but everything else made it worthwhile!

The outdoor space and interior furnishings were very comfortable. Everything was provided. The considerate stocking of the fridge and pantry was much appreciated! AC in bedrooms was great.

We didn’t mind it, but the rocky narrow road up to the house required some caution. Backing the car in and out could be tricky.

Once we had found it !! VERY HARD TO TELL FROM THE EMAIL CONFORMATION RECEIVED EXACTLY HOW TO FIND THE HOUSE ; A DETAILED ACCURATE MAP WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL !!

STEEP ACCESS WAS DIFFICULT - AND NOT EXPLAINED BEFOREHAND ! (WE WERE TRAVELLING WITHOUT A CAR AND WALKED FROM THE PINHAO RAILWAY STATION ) QUITE DIFFICULT ACCESS WITHIN THE HOUSE TO GET UP TO THE BEDROOMS WITH LUGGAGE (AGAIN NOT EXPLANED AT ALL IN ADVANCE )

The view is fantastic; the house is thoughtfully arranged and perfectly supplied. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are spacious. Everything was clean. Kitchen is well equipped. The hosts provide coffee, tea, juice, milk, water, bread, cheese, eggs, ham, and some lovely port wine. All in greater quantities than 4 of us could get through in 2 days. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

We are all in our 60’s and the walk up from the road is steep. Two of us have bad knees, but we managed well enough with walking sticks and taking our time. It wouldn’t keep us from renting there again.

Great to have everything there for breakfast, more than enough for all of us.

Beautiful views! Well functioning kitchen with everything we needed. The stocked refrigerator was an AMAZING surprise! It helped so much arriving on a Sunday afternoon and having fresh ingredients, milk for the kids and something to eat! Thank you so much for the high chair and baby gate!

The patio was amazing and the views exceptional. It was so lovely to have breakfast and dinner on the patio! The only quite important negative was that the patio overlooking the river was NOT safe for a crawling baby to move around. The railing that is present is not sufficient for child safety. The only recommendation I would make for the owner is updating the railing on the top patio to make it safe for babies and children.

Photos don't do it justice. The view is beautiful, especially at night along the R Pinhao to the Douro from the many terraces and outside spaces. Plenty of space for 4 or even 6. Spotlessly clean, great to have a fridge of food and homegrown fruit provided plus the most delicious homemade port. Feels very spacious and Monica the owner sent somebody within minutes to fix an issue at the property. Pool is a real bonus. If you so desired you could abseil down to The Bridge - a great restaurant by the river directly below the house!!!

The pretty steep dirt track upto the house won't suit everyone but we managed just fine in a regular car. Probably wouldn't suit toddlers or the elderly as there are steps between terraces in the gardens, but for us the gardens added to the charm.

Spectacular views!!! Your own home on the terraces of the Douro. Everything needed is provided, particularly the stocked fridge with meat, cheeses, bread, fruit, milk, water etc., which after arriving late and the shops closed, was most welcome. The views are amazing and our kids loved the different property levels with fruit trees to explore. The pool is small but delightful to cool off while lounging on the terrace. I can’t say enough about this place and location. I didn’t see a more desirable location in Pinhão to stay, and speaking with folks staying at the Vintage House, even they were jealous. Don’t look elsewhere for the most relaxing property in the area.

Nothing. I could see the steep hill being a problem for people with mobility issues, or driving up in wet weather. We arrived by train and so enjoyed the hike to walk off all the delicious meals and port!

Amazing property with all of the amenities you would require. Great breakfast offering. The views are unbeatable and we enjoyed having the plunge pool at the end of a hot day!

The access road is very steep and is damaged with several potholes making the climb to the house a bit treacherous. This might not be in the control of the owners of this property and we got used to it by going up slowly

Fantastic tucked on a hill surrounded by olive trees and vines (perfect for a morning hike) and located at walking distance to the Pinhao town. The House has a real homy feel to it and is well appointed. The fridge was stocked perfectly for us to make nice breakfasts in the morning and the clothes washer was a nice bonus as we are traveling across country. We also enjoyed a nice evening using the wood burning BBQ. This house is perfect to enjoy this incredible wine country and the beautiful views it offers.

As mentioned, the road is more of a farm road and may be a challenge for some, especially sports car. We knew about it so we rented a SUV, not at all an issue.

The property was nicely appointed, well equipped and very clean. The breakfast food was basic but good and the fresh fruit was excellent. The views were beautiful from the house and it was more spacious than expected. We appreciated having access to a washer and dryer, and being in walking distance to the town. We found a fantastic place to eat - Restaurante Veladouro that was so good we went back the next night. Great food and very friendly staff, reservations a must!

As other guests have noted the driveway to access the house is very steep and is in terrible condition. Fortunately we had an SUV that was able to handle it - I would not recommend attempting the driveway in a regular car.

House is lovely. Big. Large bedrooms.2 bathrooms on suits. Lovely outside deck with lovely views. Well stocked pantry that we could help ourselves too: bread, butter, ham, coffee etc.

Very steep unmade road up to the house. Not safe to drive up in our car. Landed up on leaving car at bottom and walking up with all our luggage.
