Ayubowan, Ella

Las vistas desde la habitación son increíbles, especialmente para ver el amanecer. Como las vías del tren pasan al lado podéis ver el famoso convoy desde el balcón de las habitacione sin ir hasta Nine Arches. El desayuno estuvo muy completo también. Los dueños nos acercaron varias veces al pueblo o nos buscaron tuktuks para ir. También nos hicieron recomendaciones para Ella y otros puntos para más adelante en el viaje.

Si sois un poco aprensivos con los bichos, se nos colaron varios a las habitaciones, principalmente gekkos inofensivos. Pero está en plena montaña, tampoco era imprevisible. No está muy céntrico y el acceso es complicado si vais en un vehículo grande, aunque las vistas compensan.

Odore nel bagno della camera tripla

Non è vicinissimo alla città, ci vogliono circa 20 min a piedi sulla linea del treno (si cammina sui binari , vedrete lo fanno tutti sia di giorno che di notte) , ha una vista bellissima sulla valle, sulla linea del treno (dal balcone si possono fare foto perfette). Lo staff è disponibilissimo ad aiutarti ed a spiegarti tutto. Colazione buona. Tutti ad Ella usano la linea del treno per spostarsi a piedi e si trovano sulla lienea direttamente punti di ristoro e ristoranti. Considerate però che se dovete chiamare un tuktuk , un taxi, un van qui non è un punto comodo. Ella è l'unico posto dove ci hanno chiesto un sacco di soldi anche per prendere un tuktuk (è sicuramente la città più turistica che ho visto) tipo 5/6 volte quello che indicava Pickme che li non viene molto usata.

L'hotel sarebbe stato anche un 10 di punteggio ma la nostra camera era vecchia, con moquette e bagno vecchio (è situata al piano della reception). Abbiamo visto invece la camera dei nostri amici che era ristrutturata e ben tenuta.

Il faut savoir que vous n’êtes pas au centre ville mais les hôtes sont aidants et disponibles pour vous véhiculer. Vous profiterez d’une vue et d’un calme a couper le souffle! Un drap avant la couverture directement serait un plus.

Everything was amazing, the 20 minute walk to Ella along the trail tracks was great, we booked the superior queen room had views of the train line and seeing the train pass by was fantastic, the view from the bath at night was amazing, room was very comfortable with a beck that had fantastic views of Ella rock and the valley. The owners were absolutely amazing, they couldn't do enough for us, we had drinks we wanted to put in the fridge, it was not even an hour and the owner knocked on our door holding a new mini bar fridge he had just purchased, just amazing.

The view, the kindness of the hosts

It’s right infront on a train track with beautiful views and the hosts are really nice! We really enjoyed our stay. You can see the sunrise and birds chirping early morning.

It’s in a remote area so it’s a little challenging to go in and out of the area to go to town. However, if you want some time away from everything, it’s the best place to be.

We had a great stay in Ayubowen. The property is out of Ella city and is located very close to the railway tracks. It was great to walk down the train track into town (about 20mins) The accommodation itself is basic/rustic. Beds were comfortable and clean but like most of Sri Lanka the bathrooms are basic. If you like camping/outdoors the place would suit you. It kind of felt like a country farm stay. The hotel has a wonderful view and the hosts are very helpful.

Hotel is in deep jungle and even normal car cannot go you have to go by tuktuk or hotel car. I travelled with my parents and there are more than 40 stairs and it was so hard for them to reach the room. The water was also not really hot in the room and they were very tired and when we tried to order food there is no restaurant which will deliver to our hotel so its not convenient for family

Pero una vez abajo, puedes ir andando por las vías a todas partes. Restaurantes interesantes muy cerca. Las vistas del alojamiento son increíbles, abierto a la naturaleza, solo s silencio y armonía. El tren pasa bajo tu terraza. Muy buen desayuno, relajante. Gracias por la acogida.

Todo ok. A pesar de parecer apartado en un primer momento, es cómodo caminar por las vías dirección Ella y Nanu Oya (hacia Ella Rock).

מלון משפחתי חמוד ממש על צלע ההר עם נוף מדהים לעמק.ולרכבת. הבעלים מתוקים ומנסים לעשות הכל כדי להפוך את השהות למדהימה. הגעה לא פשוטה למקום עצמו אבל הנוף שווה את זה (הם מספקים שירותי הסעות חינם לרחוב למעלה היכן שיש טוקטוקים). ארוחת הבוקר היתה מגוונת והכי טובה שאכלנו כחלק מחבילה של לינה+ארוחת בוקר.

Vista mozzafiato dal balcone. A piedi seguendo le rotaie (sotto all'alloggio) siamo arrivati a Ella, nell'altro senso siamo arrivati al Nine arch bridge, a piedi si arriva alle cascate e a Ella Rock.Disponibile il proprietario che ci è venuto a prendere una volta scesi dal treno.

Potrebbero mettere un piccolo frigo in camera e una cassetta di sicurezza (ma qui in tanti non la usano)

Absolutely lovely stay! The views are incredible, with the hotel located right beside the train tracks, making it a beautiful spot to relax and watch the trains pass by. The hosts Nakala and Lakshi were incredibly warm, friendly, and hospitable, and made us feel so welcome throughout our stay. Although the hotel is a little more remote and takes a bit more effort to reach, they kindly provided a complimentary tuk-tuk to the main road, which made getting around easy. Our room was spacious, comfortable. We also loved that you can walk into Ella town along the train tracks in around 30 minutes, which was a really unique and scenic experience.

The only minor downsides were that the shower pressure was a little weak, and the walls were fairly thin, so sound carried between rooms more than expected.

Everything, the stay was exceptional. From coming to pick us up, providing an evening meal, providing a brilliant breakfast and kindly taking us on a walk to a local waterfall everything was excellent. There personal service provided by everyone at Ayubowan was simply the best. Especially Uncle and Laakshi who treated our whole part with care and kindness

Small family hotel with beautiful view of the Ella and train line. You fall in love with view. Staff is really friendly and helpful. I can recommend this accomodation for all type of travelers.

Ayubowan is a family run bnb located at steep hill about 15 minutes away from Ella town, the road to the bnb is a bit narrow however if one could reach before it is advisable though Nallaka our host did help us with his down the steep road as our taxi driver was not sure about the drivability of the curves. But tuktuk drivers find it easy to maneuver the twist and turns of the road. Its a simple place with a great view... and warm hospitality offered by Nallaka and Lakshya. We enjoyed the surroundings walking along the railway track to the Ella town as well as our early morning hike to the ella rock. The trails to the ella rock is very interesting too with lots good feel of village life and paddy fields, vegetable farms ... and we found a cozy and cute eatery ( River Restaurant) run by a local family on our way down the ella rock trails, and we had some refreshing tea, they served home cooked meals too. It was a very hygienic and well well done little place with real warm people. Our host Lakshya went out of her way to make us comfortable and her dog was a real - quick companion for our sons too. Over all we found no concerns except that the hand shower that only trickled water for a quick shower for a family of four to take turns! but it was not a big deal... we managed it!

Fantastisch verblijf hoog in de bergen. Met van alles te doen op loopafstand.Ella is 20 minuutjes over het spoor. Ella rock 10 minuutjes over het spoor. Verder is er van alles te doen in Ella en als je geen zin hebt om te lopen is de host altijd bereid om je te brengen met zijn busje. Ook het diner is heerlijk en het ontbijt is voortreffelijk. Verder nog een vermeld hoe aardig de Host en zijn familie zijn.

Soms lopen er wat hondjes rond die voor kleine kinderen een beetje bedreigend kunnen zijn, alhoewel de host zijn uiterste best deed om ze weg te houden.

Our first visit to Ella was made so special by our stay at Ayubowan Ella. A must stay for anyone visiting Ella for the first time! The hotel is a stunning, impressive location with incredible views. We especially loved the scenic walk along the train tracks, it was so peaceful. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. The family treated us so kindly, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. If you stay at Ayubowan Ella, you have to try the food! Lakshi made us the most delicious, authentic meals . It was easily the best food we had during our trip. We highly recommend staying here if you want a true taste of Sri Lankan warmth.

Очень сложно добраться

Otelin konumu çok güzel. Tam tren geçiş manzarası görülüyor. Odaları geniş. Doğa manzarası harika. Çalışanlar çok yardımsever ve güler yüzlü. Geç saatte otele varmış olmamıza rağmen bize yemek hazırladılar. Sabah otel çıkışı valizlerimizi odada bırakıp gezintiye çıktık. Bizim için valizleri şehir merkezine getirdiler. Tekrar otele gitmemize gerek kalmadı. Otel mobilyaları çok yeni. Odalar yeni dizayn edilmiş. Üzerinde uğraşıldığı belli.

Yattığımız yatakta karıncalar vardı. Geç saatte odaya vardığımız için pek bir şey yapamadık. Temizleyip yattık fakat yine de karıncaların yolu olduğu için sabah kadar tedirgin olduk. Ella bölgesindeki oteller doğanın tam içinde. Her otelde böcek kelebek kertenkele vs olacaktır bu bir eleştiri değil. Fakat yatak üzerindeki karıncalara çözüm bulmaları lazım. Banyodaki havalndırma pencerelerini tel ile kapatmalarını öneriyorum.

Amazing view from the room. Comfortable bed and in a quiet location.

It is a 20 min walk along the railway line to reach Ella- we enjoyed it but with young children you’d maybe need to catch tuktuks- a much longer journey.

We absolutely love our stay. The location was perfect for us with a stunning view and short walk along the train tracks to Ella city. With car or tuk tuk the location was a bit more difficult to reach but we enjoyed the walk into the city everyday as it was a perfect stroll for our baby to sleep while we could enjoy the valleys and the waterfall views. The location also allows to hike to Ella rock from the hotel, which we can highly recommend. However, the highlight of our stay was the kind hosts who did everything possible for us to enjoy our stay. They picked us up from the train and made us feel like we were visiting friends throughout our entire stay. When we come back to Ella we will definitely stay here again.

The hosts are lovely, able to help with whatever was needed and gave great advice for the area. We really liked the location - incredible view and out of the bustle of Ella town but an easy walk to get into, it was also a great location for Ella Rock. The room was clean and breakfast was plentiful.

Highly recommend you book this property immediately. It is the most incredible location. And the guys who run it are so kind and helpful. They gave us amazing food for both breakfast and dinner, nearly all of the food grown by them including the rice. And they also gave us lots of information about the area and Sri Lanka. The train runs just in front and it's fun to watch the trains pass and the people walk the tracks. We also saw lots of wildlife during our stay - peacocks, mongoose, monkees, squirrels, fireflies, and hawks.

The manager was extremely kind and helpful. He arranged for us a cheaper van for our transportation needs, he found us reliable guides for harder hikes and he kept bringing us fruits that he collected from the garden. The location may seem a little far but you won't take the usual road that maps show and you use the railway route to walk to the city and it takes like 15-20 mins after you get used to walking on the rails.

Siamo arrivati alle 6 del pomeriggio; ho chiesto per la cena e mi è stato prospettato un tempo di attesa di due ore e mezza (pur avendo ordinato due piatti di noodles e 4 sandwich - arrivati freddi). Docci in mezzo al bagno e senza nessuna protezione, quindi si è allagato completamente. Frigorifero un po' sporco.

房间就在大自然里，有各种小动物，还有火车经过，一片绿色的大森林里，这感觉太好了，房东带着我们去看瀑布还游了泳，房东种的百香果，香蕉，鳄梨和芭乐都摘给我们吃，还摘了一些让我们带着路上吃，早饭很丰盛，很遗憾就定了一晚上，下一次再来一定会多定几晚上，我们会想念这里的一切，房东他们一家人都很好很热情，还有巴蒂QQ狗狗，真是完美的一天❤️房东开车送我们还带我们逛了另一片很漂亮的树林景色，真的很热情很好的一家人，我们会再来的😊

Travelling by car is difficult

Die Unterkunft war sehr schön, direkt an der Bahnstrecke mit einer wahnsinnigen Aussicht. Die Zimmer waren frisch renoviert und sauber. Sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für die Wanderung zum Ella Rock. Ein kleines Highlight für uns war der Wasserfall in direkter Nähe (small rave a waterfall). Die 2 Manager waren sehr bemüht.

Leider gab es kein Moskitonetz und wir wurden sehr zerstochen. Die Strecke über die Gleise ist trotz schnellem Tempo nicht unter 20 Minuten machbar…

Wow..absolutely amazing. We spent 2 nights at Ayubowan Hotel at the start of August (2 adults, 2 teenagers). The property is in the mountains above Ella, you can walk into Ella town along the railway (15 min walk) it’s great, little cafes and a swing on the way to stop at if you wish. If you walk down the railway the other way (15 mins) you reach the start of the Ella rock walk, such a great location. The hotel is family run and we were greeted from our taxi at the top of the lane by the father, who drove us down the lane to the hotel, it’s a very narrow steep road, but such good fun to experience the drive down, our kids loved it. We were then greeted by the daughter and mother who were so very friendly and showed us our room and had a snack and drink ready for us. What really blew us away though was the view, it’s absolutely stunning, the mountains, the farm, the railway line, we loved watching the trains go by and sitting at night listening to all the animal sounds. We later met the hotel manager Dulaksha and owner Nalaka (the son), who both could not have been anymore helpful to us all. Not only did they make us feel very special during our stay, they also gave us so much advice for our travels, organised transport for us for all our journeys over the next 10 days of travelling at a great price and even sent us messages to check everything was ok. We have not got enough praise for this beautiful place and lovely people. We wish we could have stayed longer, but we will definitely be back and we can’t wait to see the changes you are making to the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to really feel what Ella is about, whilst being away from the main centre, but being able to access it if you want. After 2 weeks of travelling in Ski Lanka this was definitely at the top of our list of the most memorable experience.

Belles chambres avec terrasse et superbe vue. L'emplacement à l'écart d'Ella est un vrai plus : on est au calme (relatif car les trains passent juste en-dessous mais très loin de l'agitation d'Ella) mais en 20/25' en suivant les rails on arrive à Ella. On est encore plus proche de l'autre station (10' à pied) ce qui est pratique pour aller à Haputale. Il y a plusieurs bons restaurants juste à côté. Bons petits déjeuners qu'il faut parfois attendre par contre.

Super vriendelijk personeel. Heel behulpzaam en gaven goede tips over wat te doen in de omgeving. Via hen hebben wij een scooter gehuurd en zo door Ella gereden. Dit is zeker een aanrader. Locatie was perfect. Het was +/- 15 minuten lopen, langs het spoor, naar het centrum.

We wilden daar avond eten dat duurde heel lang en het eten was koud. Het werd gelukkig wel goedgemaakt met het ontbijt. Personeel was niet altijd aanwezig dat was een beetje onduidelijk.

We had a extremely fabulous break staying at this residence. All staff were very welcoming to start with a SriLankan tea and confectionery. The meals were first class accompanying some of the world famous Srilankan delicious organic cuisine, the rooms were cozy clean and comfortable with astonishing views overlooking the main railway and picturouse mountain ranges of Ella. It was a total delight within an eco friendly environment with very clean air and fresh water so we highly recommend this venue.

Der Ort an sich war fantastisch und die Lage sehr besonders. Die Anfahrt hat es allerdings in sich und ist sehr steil. Unser Fahrer hat uns oben an der Hauptstraße abgeholt und wir wurden von einem Mitarbeiter vom hostel abgeholt. Sehr nette Familie.

Das Essen war okay wirkte nur sehr chaotisch und unorganisiert, d.h. das Essen stand auf dem Tisch nur keine Teller oder Besteck. Es gab keine Gläser nur eine Flasche Wasser stand auf dem Tisch. Sonst war es in Ordnung. Nur bloß keine Wäsche waschen. Extrem teuer und nicht sauber (was kann ja selten erwarten kann), aber sie roch noch nicht mal frisch.

The hotel is in lovely location, not in the city center, but in very nice countryside and in walkable distance everywhere. It is also located on the way to Ella Rock. There is beautiful view from the hotel. We could choose from 3 options for breakfast, we tried all of them and all of them were so good. The manager was very helpful, very nice and capable to help us with anything 24/7. He also kept helping us planning our route even after we left the hotel. Next time in Ella we will definitely stay in this place again. Totally recomended!!

Geweldige locatie! Prachtig uitzicht en heerlijk rustig. Het personeel/de eigenaren zijn super aardig. Een van de jongens had ons zelfs helemaal naar de 9 Arch Bridge gebracht en weer opgehaald! Ze staan altijd voor je klaar. Wij zijn maar 1 nachtje gebleven omdat we de volgende bestemming op de planning hadden staan, maar anders waren we zeker langer gebleven. De hondjes zijn ook super gezellig.

Er zaten wat mieren in de badkamer maar die doen niets :)

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay here at Ayubowan Ella. The view is truly worth the hype. Nalaka and his team were very gracious hosts and were extremely helpful during our stay. We ran into some car trouble and they were very quick to support with their staff and local contacts. The road leading up to the property is a hell of a ride, the elevation change is crazy, and it's not for the meek of heart to tackle at night, but it's part of the thrill! Food was great and the people, the view and the value is unmatched. 100% will be back again.

This is my best hotel in Sri Lanka. I can not explain the hotel room view. Brilliant view and never seen before my travel life. The staff are very kind and helpful. Room was super large and clean. Good atmosphere and Mr Nalaka the host was awesome and friendly

Good vibes and view

Thw view from the rooms terace was amazing. So cool to watch the sunrise while having breakfast. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They arranged a small tour arround Ella and car service to our next destination.

Ro rooms smell was nor fresh but it was a minor flaw.

In the hustle and bustle of Ella it’s nice to get far from the madding crowd and find some solitude. The room for our family was large , breakfast included and superb assistance from Nalaka with everything. But best of all is the stunning view and the train that appears out of the jungle to go right past you! And that also means an easy walk along the track into Ella. Perfect.

The location, view and environment was perfect. Serene nature. It was a full moon day & the night view also great. Staff are always helpful & kind. Breakfast was delicious. Specially on the day of Sinhala Tamil New Year.

Riding own vehicle was little difficult due to bends and elevation since that's new experience. Later learnt it and the staff assisted us well.

We loved our stay at Ayubowan! The views from our room were amazing and it was a lovely 15-20 min walk along the train track to Ella town. It’s a 5 min walk along the train track to the start of the Ella rock hike. The hosts were very friendly and gave us lots of recommendations for things to do in Ella and for the rest our trip in Sri Lanka

Host and staffs are excellent. On our request they arranged a Bbq dinner for us. They are helpful and service oriented.

Plumbing, access to the hotel

The view is what bought us. Staff are accomodating and but need more training.

The location is very much inside, and the road going to the hotel is very steep and narrow that we have to switch vans as our one is much bigger. Their van is nasty. We went as a family with an elderly and kids and the steps to the hotel are high and steep without any handrails. It's not safe for kids as well. The hotel can easily be accessed by anyone as there were no security or front doors but instead just a small gate where one could just easily jumped over. There were drunk people in the middle of the night yelling, that came up to the hotel and we just realized that the only way to keep us safe is to keep our hotel room lock. Though for backpackers, if you don't mind about your safety, this could be reasonable hotel.
