Cleanliness side of it. Breakfast was in the bar, and tables and floors felt a bit sticky, and plates / cutlery were pretty dirty too. Also the "housekeeping" did make me chuckle. We stayed there for 2 nights. When we arrived, room actually seemed to be okay. Then next day the "housekeeping": they put bedspreads on the beds again, cleaned the sink a bit and rinsed the mugs we used for our juice / tea. Not washed - RINSED. You could still see which contained which drink before... i'd rather those not be touched at all. The thing that annoyed me - rubbish bins were not emptied and the single towel we left for them to change, because it was wet...it was still left on the floor despite their sticker about changing them if on the floor. I mean would we stayed there one night, we would not even notice that and as a one night stay it would have been great. However staying longer, made me question a lot of things that are hygiene related 🙄 Also beds were not the best - ok, but not very comfy.

As it is also a pub, the noise from there couldn't be heard from the rooms. There was a great entrance space i the room to store luggage and get dressed. Staff were lovely and locatio was good, but took nearly 20-30 mins to walk into centre of town.

Great value for the family stay. Child place was free. Family room very good and large, plenty of room. Great restaurant and sports bar,. Very friendly staff and sp near Chester Zoo.

There was some damp in the room but it was a big room for 2. Shower was good, the bed was very comfortable and a short walk into Chester. Will return if we go to Chester again

Friendly staff , easy booking in system. Staff provided information about the hotel and facilities. Room was clean and bed linen was spotless . Bathroom and toilet also spotless

Great location and pub. The meals were good and the breakfast fabulous.

The Pub was very spacious clean and well managed , the room was also clean beds comfortable, had Kettle tea coffee etc hair dryer just everything you would need for a night away no noise coming from the bar or on the corridor, also free parking round the back of the property, location was slightly out of the City but we did not mind that as we like walking.

The radiator was on high so the room was very hot we did try to turn it off but couldn’t, ( We probably should have asked for someone to look at it for us )there was also a fan in the room, we did not have much of a window view but that was just an observation

We only stayed overnight and for the price paid, we have no complaints. The staff were very friendly and helpful

Didn't realise it was a Hungry Horse pub. Good location, short walk to lovely street with an excellent butchers, fishmonger, bakery and other shops pubs and cafe. Hourly bus service into the city. Room was small but comfortable and clean.

The shower head was dirty. I had to clean it with the floor towel before we could use the shower. Apart from that everest was clean.

Staff. Convenient for centre. Quiet. Parking behind building.

A bit dated. No grab bars. Shower not very good. No milk and coffee and tea replenished second day.

The staff were very welcoming, food was really nice and hot, free parking was good, very convenient for walking into the city centre. Would recommend this hotel and would definitely return.

We could hear the door from next door slamming at night which was quite loud

Room's were easy to get to and as advertised. The hallway needs a bit of DIY and a good hoover though.

Breakfast was very expensive and not much selection on the continental side of things (no croissants or pancakes)

Late check in was unexpectedly needed and the staff were great :)

First room had been left with rubbish in and not made up correctly, advised staff who moved us to another room immediately.

Rooms need coasters for hot drinks, new net curtains needed (the ones in our room were ripped). Otherwise clean and tidy (in the room we were moved to).

Room was lovely and spacious. Booked for 2 Adults one child and got a little 2 bedroom. Bargain for what we paid. We have stayed a few times at the hotel now, and always had a lovely stay.

It's very convenient to be able to eat and have a drink at the location and not having to go out again. Dinner was nothing special and breakfast kind of scarse.. Did not like the system to have to order everything at the bar, I prefer the personnel coming to the table to take orders.

It took a while before we got noticed to sign in, the printer was on strike and so it took a while longer.. Room was on ground floor next to the neighbors property, no view whatsoever..

Lovely place welcoming staff

De locatie was super. Alles was ter plekke mogelijk, eten, drinken. Zeer betaalbaar.

Hier en daar was het wel aan een opfrisbeurt toe, bijv de vloerbedekking in de gangen.

Room was good. Loved the bath. Good breakfast. The food is good, good value for money !!! Drinks are very reasonable.

The hotel is tired. Needs updating Chipped paintwork etc. Beer garden needs a good scrub ...

We had stayed locally before, and Oaklands exceeded our expectations as a place to stay. It was quiet, comfortable, well furnished, really clean with a great ensuite bathroom. It was worth the money!. Easy to park - with shade on that summer evening. Handy for the city-centre and meeting up with family or friends - and for all the tourist attractions, e.g. zoo, Roman Chester or the shops.

There was a good choice at breakfast - however only one of us 'enjoyed' the somewhat overcooked breakfast. But the choice of cereal, fresh fruit and chilled fruit juice easily made up for that shortfall

Distance to room no lift

The staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times, resolving any problems we had. We booked a table for the evening of England v Argentina and very much enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere in the pub. It was nice to sit out in the garden with a drink on the warm evenings. The accommodation was reasonably priced.

Our first allocated room (6) was awful! With the window open, hot air from an outlet (bar? kitchen?) was blasted from the flat roof outside directly into our room. With the window shut, the room was dark and unbearably stuffy. The bathroom smelt strongly of rotten eggs. We asked to move and were suitably accommodated in room 14, which was acceptable. Both rooms were clean, but generally in need of some tlc and a refurb. The plumbing was a bit wonky, but delivered sufficient hot water. We were there in a heatwave. There was a small fan in the room, but a larger one was needed. Neither room had a view as such, but we weren’t there to sit in our room looking out, so not a worry. There was a 20 minute walk into town, generally not a problem for us as we like to walk, but the road was unpleasantly busy and we resorted to taxis - reasonably priced at around £6. There is a bus service, though not very frequent.

Becase we were in the middle of a heat wave missed having air conditioning small room couldnt open window fully couldnt sleep a fan was provided but didnt do alot we would have liked a little fridge too as we were drinking water that was warm and had no way of keeping it cold

Location was great. Staff were helpful and as it was an eating pub, meals weren’t an issue.

Wasn’t sure how to exit the accommodation before 7am so a couple,e of frantic phone calls. Door via the fire exit but didn’t want to set an alarm off.

Had a great stay, staff were lovely and very accommodating. Not too far from Chester centre. Would definately stay here again.

There's no storage at all in the rooms, a small set of drawers would be a start.

Limited storage. Breakfast wasn’t clear what was available for what price. Ordered scrambled eggs which was showing as £4.99 but still got charged for classic breakfast as the continental was included with scrambled eggs - wasn’t clear and wasn’t needed. That’s why I ordered a smaller breakfast - clearer signage required - not hotels fault however

The requested ground floor room was reserved for us. Parking was good and we enjoyed our evening meal. The hotel is extremely convenient when visiting the zoo

We really like the location. The staff are very friendly and always greet with a smile The weather was very extreme when we stayed and the the staff were very helpful when we booked in offering us a cold drink and informed us that a fan had been put in our room for our comfort.

June 4th The bedroom was dated but ok however the room was absolutely freezing, I said the following morning. I was there for 3 nights for a funeral and couldn’t sleep due to the cold even using 2 duvets, hot water bottle. When I mentioned the following I was told the heating would be on. No heating and on return to my room on the 3rd night my window was wide open anybody could have got in. I asked for someone to come close the window a young girl came and she managed to closed it as much as she could. Her and I discovered there was no latch on the window what so ever. Breakfast was included but I didn’t state it was only a continental.

The breakfasts were complicated as far as choices and prices. There was minimum choice for breakfast and had to ask for hot coffee and hot water! Also the bedroom was very cold and my request for heating to be turned on was not fulfilled.

Loved the layout of the family room, kept everyone together but with own space as well. Location perfect for an easy walk into town.

There was no extractor fan in the bathroom which did make the bathroom very hot and worried that it would set the fire alarm off. Also the Television in the twin room didnt work, couldn't get any channels or connect to it in any way.

A number of very small things that were easy to fix, but hadn't - missing curtain rings, missing screw caps, no ventilation in bathroom. Evening meals were average, at best.
