Convenient for Alton towers
Very welcoming, clean, comfortable bed, good variety for breakfast
Slight traffic noise
Lovely building. Room was basic but clean. Staff lovely and great breakfast.
Had trouble with WiFi so no TV or signal!!
It was great how there was a fan in the room, and tea and coffee facilities
The only downside was no fridge
Great location right in Cheadle town and ideal location for Churnet Valley Railway which is a few mile drive away.
All good.
Location was perfect for the Churnet Valley Railway where we were visiting for a murder mystery night. The cold selection at breakfast was good.
The beds were too hard for us but that is quite subjective so for someone else they are most likely ok. For some reason our room was extremely warm. The cooked breakfast was served in a buffet style but the quality of this was poor. The sausage was a very cheap one and the scrambled eggs were already cold when they came from the kitchen in addition the hash browns were soggy. For the overall price point this was very poor.
Clean and adequate, all the usual extras. Well positioned in historic Cheadle, which is not the prettiest town in the area. Spacious room.
An historic building, but unfortunately showing its age, and needs external maintenance. Same can be said of the parking area and garden. Mattress has seen better days... Staff member very pleasant but distracted. Didn't sample the breakfast.
It was a very lovely room, lots of space to move. It overlooked the garden which was lovely. The staff there were amazingly friendly, especially Steve, who greeted us at the door and gave us a really warm welcome. We had no disturbances through the night. Will definitely come back
The beds were very uncomfortable. Couldn’t sleep very well due to the mattress being hard. I could feel the springs on my back.
Location
Bathroom needs a refresh and extraction fitting as the shower had mold in
The hotel staff are wonderful and can’t do enough to help. The location is fantastic.
The rooms are quite tired and dated and could do with a refurbish. I don’t think the accommodation is 4* but the overall experience is excellent so I would stay again.
Nice that it was inclued but not overly impressed
Pre booked break, but then found out it was buffet and items ran out, very long waiting period for replacement, awful coffee, sticky table
Breakfast was quite varied with lots of choice , hot food , cold as in fruit, cereals etc
It reached my expectations
Good clean rooms, great breakfast with lots of variety. Staff very helpful. Has a charger for an ev if you need it.
Parking
Check in at 4pm. Pouring rain we arrived at 3.50pm and staff member said I will just have this cigarette and then I will process you. There were a few couples left standing in the rain. We could have stood inside the reception area if he had opened the door. The room was hot and we couldn’t turn the radiator down or off. We had to open the window and then we heard the church chiming throughout the night. The bed wasn’t comfortable it was too soft. Carpet stained. Breakfast was 8-9 and we preselected items only to find items unavailable at the buffet table. Items were replaced but slowly.
Great location
Very friendly staff and a very pleasant stay. The breakfast was lovely in the morning with great selection
Very cosy and secure
Rooms a little outdated however very clean and live up to basic needs for what we wanted it for
Breakfast and room good
Trying to find the car park
Pretty grounds with fish pond. Ground floor room was lovely. Ample parking. Room was excellent. Good size. Tea and coffee in room was a nice touch. Breakfast was awesome! Really wonderful choice of food and cooked to perfection.
A bit run down as bridge over pond boarded up and another area cordoned off by tape. Pillows were hard and lumpy. Shower door opened wrong way do hard to get in!
We were given a large family room with 3 beds, of which one was a double; the beds were quite comfortable. None of the older kids had to share. We had requested for an option to pork sausages since we don't eat pork and we also didn't want to be served vegetable sausages. We got served chicken sausages. The breakfast was awesome, more than what you'll get at other chain BB facilities with established names. My kids loved the fishpond as well.
We loved everything at this resort
Beautiful old building and lovely garden. Good facilities.
Nothing
Location
Appearance very untidy, wi fi not working
It’s a perfect location for a stopover for Alton Towers. Cheadle itself has a nice high street and it’s easily walkable from the guest house. There is also a supermarket within walking distance. The staff are exceptionally friendly. Breakfast was good but could do with a proper coffee machine
It’s very old fashioned which is part of the charm but the decor and beds are a bit tired. There are no mod cons like usb sockets in the rooms.
Lovely accommodation, breakfast was great. The hosts couldn't be any nicer and helpful.would stay again
Friendly helpful staff…
Bit tired in places…
We stayed here for a few days whilst we had fun at Alton Towers. The staff were INCREDIBLE and couldn't do enough for us! Great selection for breakfast and very fresh and tasty. The rooms are set in an outbuilding to the side of the main house which made things more private.
Nothing really but we were slightly further from Alton Towers then anticipated and we didn't have a car so had to reply on taxis which was expensive
Beautiful old Manor House and grounds with a stunning garden and pond. My children and I loved it here! Everyone we met was happy, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and had a great choice for everybody. The location in the small town of Cheadle was very good the little town has everything you need, a couple of cute places for coffee and cake and some nice restaurants and little independent shops. It is about 15 minute drive to Alton towers and was great for a two night stay.
We had a family room which was quite small but we were not in there much as there were plenty of spaces in the hotel to relax and chill out. The room was very clean but a bit run down.
The proximity of the village Free parking The little pond
Too few plug sockets in the rooms Lumpy uncomfortable bed Bathroom basin and rim of toilet were dirty Breakfast had to be ordered in advance (which was okay) for it to then be a buffet style as in help yourself. The food was kept in cheap warmers and It was lukewarm at best. No staff around when we went to place an order for 2nd mornings breakfast. No one picked up when we called. I've stayed in far better (Whiston hall) in the same area for less.
Breakfast was ok location was good parking was good
Rooms or so old and worn . Not very clean . Need updating . I messaged them ahead of my arrival asking for a slightly earlier check in due to travel and chemotherapy and still didn't let us in i was asking for 15 to 10 mins . And it was clear once we arrived rooms was ready we just had to sit outside and wait. Thats poor on there part.
Well situated and close by to local amenities. Rooms felt like they lacked a higher end finish considering it’s a fairly expensive hotel.
The room and property felt a little dated.
It was in a great location, clean and suited us for one night.
It was quite out dated and didn’t resemble the pictures.
Very central
Nothing
Room was lovely and clean, well decorated and spacious. Good access to local village and the vintage railway system a few miles done. Breakfast was excellent and parking was included. Staff were friendly and helpful and greeted us warmly.
I can't think of anything
Location was perfect, close to Alton towers. Beds were comfy. Spacious clean room. Didn't use the shower but it was clean and looked new. Glad we had proper beds in family room for 4 instead of just sofa-beds! Garden was cute with koi pond and bridge . WiFi worked. Breakfast was tasty. Late check-in was easy.
Breakfast could have been a bit longer (only 8-9am), didn't really see much staff around- I assume the cook came in just before breakfast ended to see who was still there and smiled at me which was nice.
The property was in a good location.
The room was extremely hot but unfortunately that was just due to the current heat wave.
Unfortunately, our stay did not meet expectations. The online booking information was unclear regarding the accommodation layout. We booked the lodge for three couples but found the sleeping arrangements unsuitable, with one pull-out sofa bed, one double bed, one single bed, and a bunk bed provided. There was an additional room containing a double bed, but it was locked and unavailable for use. Having previously worked at the property, I was aware that the sofa bed had traditionally been located in the separate living room, allowing access to all bedrooms. The layout has since been altered, with the living room now incorporated into the kitchen and sleeping area. When we asked if access to the additional bedroom was possible, we were informed that this would require a £150 upgrade, which was disappointing for 6 grown adults. The only main bedroom contained both a double bed and bunk beds. Unfortunately, there were no curtains at the window, making the room very bright early in the morning. We had to improvise by using spare pillows from the top bunk to block out the light. The exterior of the property also appeared neglected. There were weeds throughout the grounds, building materials left outside, and bins were very present to the lodge access and had an unpleasant smell. This detracted from the overall appearance and, in some areas, raised safety concerns. Breakfast was satisfactory; however, there was not enough food prepared to meet demand, and much of it was only lukewarm despite being kept on the hot plate. As guests were asked to complete an order form, we expected a plated breakfast rather than a self-service arrangement. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Having previously worked at the property under its former management, I know the high standards it once maintained. It is unfortunate to see that those standards have declined so noticeably.
The room was clean and comfortable. The ladies who worked there were nice and friendly. Plenty of choice for breakfast
The main photo on booking.com show the grounds and made it look like there was a lovely stream or river. We love being by water and i booked it because of that picture as it looked a lovely spot to chill by. No stream, just a little fish pond. Photo very misleading
Excellent
No USB socket in the room.
The guest house is in the middle of the town so it is very convenient. I think our room was situated in a converted out building. Nice garden, A good breakfast.
Tricky to find if you are in a car. There is a one way system and I relied on the satnav. Our room was quite small but okay for one night.
Ideally situated for Alton Towers
Very wellcomeing hotel indeed 👌 👍
Only two night but very enjoyable
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Beautiful garden
A fridge in the room would have been nice
Comfortable, clean room, tea making facilities, close to shops, pubs, restaurants, good breakfast selection including fresh fruit.
On arrival, the whole place looks unloved, could be much nicer with some tlc. Garden needs maintenance in terms of weeding, fence repairs and painting and some fresh plants in planters. We were allocated a room where once we unpacked the lock was broken so we then had to move to another room. The shower bracket was broken and so you had to hold the shower which is quite awkward whilst trying to wash. Lack of plug sockets with ones near the bed behind the beds and difficult to access to charge phones overnight. Signs outside offering as a wedding venue but would need a lot of works to get it to standard suitable for this. Breakfast selection was good, however lacked choice of eggs, only scrambled available. And no Nutella for waffles and pancakes.
Perfect location very nice and tidy
The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were superb. The host was warm and accommodating.
The room was clean and comfortable and yhe breakfasts were absolutely superb. The host was also warm and accommodating.
The setting of the Manor is stunning, and Cheadle is lovely, bustling & vibrant. We had a fabulous stay. Steve os an amazing host with a great sense of humour and all the staff were welcoming and very friendly.
There wasn't anything we didnt like
The room were on the ground floor looking onto a lovely garden also a good size rear carpark. The breakfast was good.. we arrived 3 hours early my husband is not very well the staff and management went out of there way to accommodate we had our room 15 minutes after our arrival.
The room was small for two people although I did book a small double and didn't realise.
Friendly welcome and comfortable rooms lovely breakfast and great location.
Plug sockets got hot with the chargers and not many sockets.
Felt run down and damp smelling
Comfortable large clean room, plenty of choice at breakfast and friendly helpful staff.
Nothing.
Rooms clean and tidy, good breakfast and friendly staff.
Nothing.
We needed a hotel that was local to Alton towers. We found the Manor online and it did not disappoint. At first we were a bit apprehensive about booking it as it was really cheap. We were so glad we’d booked it, as the hotel was lovely, comfortable, clean and in a great location. We were recommended a really nice pub to eat “the huntsman” probably one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted. Would definitely love to stay again if in the area.
Everything
The 4 pm. check-in is far too late
it is well located.
The upstairs room experiences extreme temperatures. A fan is definitely needed during warm weather. It was hard to fall asleep in the heat. The property is very crammed. Every space has a bed. There's no where to sit inside. We felt very squeezed in. It was difficult to find restaurants to eat at - they were closed for the bank holiday!
They have an EV charger only £20 a night Breakfast was really nice
Nothing
Good breakfast
The rooms were very tired and not at all comfortable, there was a strong smell of carpet freshener which wasn't very pleasant
Location and the patio
The clogged shower drain
Staff very friendly and room was scrupulously clean. Bed was comfortable
Noisy fire door slamming, and some rowdy guests
Freda was lovely , welcoming and informative on arrival . Room was lovely and clean , great location near town centre . Nice breakfast. We booked our stay as visiting the Churnett valley railway 10 minutes drive away which was a wonderful experience so perfect location for anyone visiting there and only 20 minutes from the lovely Peake wildlife park with fabulous polar bears all well worth the visit .
Gardener started grass cutting at 7.45 on the Sunday morning so unfortunately no lie in , that said it didn’t detract from the positives and we enjoyed our stay.
The guy on reception was so helpful and kind.

Location and a lovely courtyard style garden
Perfect for our trip to Alton towers. Clean, tidy with great hosts. We would definitely return.

Value for money
The whole building is in need of some TLC it is very run down, the door into the main guest house bangs loudly. The garden is untidy with weeds on the slabs. The bridge over the pond has been boarded across both entrances. The man on reception was welcoming. We did not have breakfast so cannot comment but on a Saturday and Sunday the breakfast is off site but we were not told where it was anyway.
The surrounding was nice
It was nice to have coffee and mini biscuits
Beautiful nature surrounding in the middle of town

Gorgeous garden, it enabled us to get there late and access with a key card, and very central and easy car ride to Alton towers
Nothing
Clean, lovely garden with fish pond, great staff
Could do with a mini bar fridge in room
Absolutely excellent staff. Could not fault the service in the slightest. Garden was gorgeous.
Just a bit dated.
Location is very close to Alton Towers and in centre of Cheadle with associated amenities youd want.
Showers hot water was tempramental, after the first person

Niente
Great room changed for accesible without fuss, good continental breakfast included in price. Old building tastefully modernised and spotlesss. Friendly and helpful staff. Radiators worked as the weather turned cool (not always the case!)
can't think of anything
Jättesöt personal som verkligen gjorde sitt yttersta för att välkomna oss. Välstädat
Lite nergånget och slitet. Kändes öde liksom. Och sängen var obeskrivligt obekväm.
Breakfast was excellent
Only the location to our desired destination. But nothing else.
Such a poor hotel I never stayed in my whole life. You will feel the rooms are like store room without any ventilation. Low ceiling, poor beds , poor breakfast etc.
Room was adequate and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. The breakfast was exceptional and was laid out beautifully.
The room needed to be updated and there were a few cleanliness issues, including the seals around the shower and the tiles on the bathroom floor needed re-grouting.
Friendly staff, attentive and approachable.
Shower was a little tight
Good location
Breakfast was abit poor Bacon so hard you couldn't eat it They did upgrade our room for free as it was booked for a birthday. Rooms dated and exterior weather worn Pictures are abit dated
The room was lovely , bathroom immaculate and breakfast excellent
Everything was amazing
Location suited us as it was close to what we wanted to go and do we went to Cadburys world and we went to Waterworld. The staff were very accommodating and changed our rooms to a ground floor two bedrooms next door to each other with a joining door which was ideal for our little family and with it being on ground floor safer for my autistic son. Staff very friendly and let the children feed the Koi carp which was lovely. breakfast was delicious they made sure we were well looked after. Will definitely return.
Very warm welcome from Steve, breakfast was very nice, quite a good variety on offer. Free parking.
As it was a weekend, wasn't keen on the 8 till 9am breakfast, thought they could extend to 10am. Bed was quite hard, room 8 was a little small, bathroom only big enough for 1 person to use at a time.
Great stay for our Alton Towers break. Clean and comfortable room. Very friendly staff. Could do with a plug socket or two near the bed for charging phones
We met 2 members of staff an older man and a lady who were both really nice talkative and made u feel welcome
We arrived and lady took us up to the room to be told there was no heating as there was a problem with the boiler but provided us with a heater that didn’t heat the room much. Beds had rubbish and toys under the beds all 3 beds there was spider webs on the ceiling above the bed and same on the light we were both bitten by something we suspect was bed bugs. Also when we first arrived there we were double booked but the nice lady sorted that. Room wasn’t tidied or serviced the 2 nights we were there which was 2 week nights. Breakfast was good plenty of options. Paying £200 for 2 nights I find that for the way the rooms were that was a little expensive but it was a last minute decision break away
The property is beautiful and homely especially the gardens and grounds
Nothing to note
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was varied and delicious.
The room was very hot but a fan was supplied.
Location was perfect for a trip to Alton Towers just 15 mins away, good village for food/pubs and shops. Exterior looked nice and had easy check in for late night arrival.
Mould in bathroom cupboards and rusting shower shelves. Continental breakfast was lacking and staff weren't knowledgable about allergies.
Room was clean and warm. Staff was friendly.
Very clean and friendly staff
The staff were very friendly and offered good advice on where to eat. The cooked breakfast was very nice each morning. The location is very convenient, near the centre of town.
