The location is rural, which suits us perfectly; yet not far from the town and the coast.

Nice and quiet, great beds and so much natural light! We loved that there were even 2 bathrooms. We had a great stay :)

Atmosfera speciale, la nostra host ci ha fatti sentire a casa. Tutto l'occorrente per cucinare, due bagni puliti e forniti di tutto, lo consiglio davvero! Bisogna fare qualche km dal centro di Drogheda, ma secondo me ne vale la pena.

Appartamento comodo per due coppie perché composto da 2 camere e due bagni, cucina adeguata e provvista di accessori, parcheggio auto privato, bel giardino.

Abbiamo avuto difficoltà a raggiungere la location, nonostante l'ausilio del navigatore satellitare e le indicazioni dell'host, al quale suggerirei di mettere un'insegna fuori della casa. Non si sapeva dove appoggiare gli oggetti personali, perché su una camera erano presenti due comodini piccoli e scomodi, mentre l'altra era ne era completamente sprovvista e non aveva nemmeno un paralume. Le lenzuola del mio letto presentavano delle macchie.

Toni and her family were very welcoming and friendly and willing to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was very enjoyable.

It's not that we didn't like but the nature of the upstairs apparment meant that there was limited low windows to enjoy the lovely views.

We were looking for a place to stay our last night in Ireland. We did not want to stay in the city. Alma’s Retreat was a perfect fit. Quiet country location less than an hour from the airport.

Although I didn't meet the hosts, they reached out before our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed for the kids. Once we arrived, they got in touch again to be sure we had settled in ok and check if we were happy with the temperature.

It is first worth noting that the booking.com property page states this accommodation has 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each, along with 2 sofa beds in the living room. This is incorrect. There is one double bed, 1 room with 2 single beds, and no sofa beds. This was a slight hiccup as we had a foster child who needed to sleep separately. Property details state no extra beds can be made available so we didn't ask for one and worked around the issue. The big issue we had was that we were all woken at approximately 1am, 1st by the dog downstairs barking, but I then heard voices outside the property. I got dressed and made my way outside to find 1 girl running across the garden to a barn or outbuilding (within the same grounds as our accommodation) then 2 other ladies, who could barely stand, one carrying a drink. Then 2 gentlemen arrived in a car, parked up, and they proceeded across the garden while shouting and hollering to the same outbuilding, from which we could also hear loud music playing. This continued to keep us up until roughly 3.30am. Its very clear on the property conditions that no parties are allowed. Obviously that doesn't include the barn/outbuilding in the same garden! Which is completely unacceptable for those of us who were paying guests looking for a quiet night before leaving Ireland! We left early the following morning so did not speak to the hosts with our grievances. I raised these issues with Booking.com on my return to the UK and contacted Toni at the property also. To be told they "can't help it if there is noise outside" and if I am looking for free accommodation its "not happening"! Quite a disgusting attitude frankly, as its not about the money. Its about the fact we were woken in the night, in what is advertised as a peaceful quiet place, by some form of party/gathering in the same grounds as our accommodation, so yes, You could have absolutely controlled what was going on during the night!!

The apartment was spotlessly clean and the bedrooms and bathrooms were first rate. Easy to get in and nice and quiet! Would recommend highly.

The hostess met us and helped us get in. The house was well laid out. The kitchen was small but had what we needed and there was a place to sit and talk or watch TV.

There was one wall socket that was not working, but were able to get around the issue.

Excellent facilities, easy check in. Beautiful place to stay. Very very nice and we enjoyed it a lot.

Door was hard to lock and there were no sharp knives to prepare food.

It was very clean and comfortable with friendly owners and also dog friendly. I brought my collie pup along and she met the resident dog Davy, a little Jack Russell. Also very friendly. I would go back.

Only one thing and that is there's no front gates and a hole in the hedge, so I couldn't let my dog off the lead. She's still in training for recall. Just to note that if you're taking your dog and it is curious like mine.

La struttura è recente una mansarda di una casa ampia con giardino privato. Parcheggio ottimo all interno della struttura. Camere ampie, letti comodi, bagni super, cucina/soggiorno perfetta per 4 persone. Cereali, pane latte caffè, tè presenti per la colazione. Spiaggia enorme in bassa marea a soli 3 km. Grazie a Toni per la perfetta e ospitalità e soprattutto al vero padrone di casa Davie, un magnifico cagnetto, che educatamente invita l ospite a giocare con lui. Soggiorno perfetto

Advertised as “whole place to yourself” when just downstairs is an elderly couple. Was a little surprised that there was people in the property when it stated that the whole place is for myself.

We were later than our planned arrival time. Toni was very accommodating and even helped with our luggage. Great bathrooms and comfy beds. Very nice overnight transit stop for us before heading north.

Lovely hosts left us supplies of tea coffee etc. went above and beyond for our stay. Rooms were fab and had bits for us to use like shower and toiletries. Would 100% be back again

Great little place. We booked last minute and the host went out of her way to welcome us. The place was very clean and had all we needed for a quick stop.to Droghada and the Boyne Valley.

It is not a self-contained apartment. You are staying in the hosts upstairs rooms, with steep stairs that are unguarded. Hosts can access, via a connected door. There is no privacy. A large notice greets guests stating “ Shoes are NOT allowed to be worn upstairs.”

Self check-in process was very easy and convenient as we weren't completely sure what time we would arrive. Davie the dog was lovely, he would happily run around playing fetch all day, kept us all entertained. Milk and orange juice were left in the fridge for us, and a jar of sweets on the counter which our daughter was delighted about.

Nothing, everything about the property was great 👍 Would recommend booking a table if you are looking to go out for dinner at the local Italian restaurant, La Pizzeria. We thought we would be okay to just show up for a table but was completely booked out for the night, so unfortunately we didn't get to try the food but it smelled amazing when we walked inside. Other than that everything was great and would highly recommend for a stay if anyone is in the area!!!

Loved this place, cannot rate this place high enough, every single detail thought of, even left us fresh bread, butter, jams etc. immaculate clean, and little davie the dog was an extra bonus! Will def stay here again!

The property is lovely, well maintained and the apartment is 5 star. There are about 20 steps to get up to the main floor. You are greeted by Toni and Pat’s very cute dog. Toni was very friendly and accommodating. She had milk, bread and butter and treats too. We loved it here and would have liked to stay longer.

We really enjoyed our stay at Alma’s retreat. The owner was super friendly and welcoming! The kitchen had fresh milk, breakfast options and a lot of kitchen utensils. The bedrooms and showers were amazing and everything was really clean. We highly recommend you stay here and the next time we are able to come here we will definitely try to stay for a longer period.

The gorgeous little terrier dog who loved to play fetch

Stairs that we weren’t aware of, the ensuite shower head that wouldn’t stay up and sprayed water towards the door. No soap holders shampoo had to be placed on the floor. Bedside light not working . No milk in fridge for a cup of tea had to drive a number of kms to purchase. Had we known could have picked it up in Drogheda. We had heavy luggage that was difficult for a 81, 75, 72, 70 year old to drag up the steep stairs. No name on the front of the property to identify we were at the correct property.

When we requested a few extra little things that were missing (dish cloths, tea spoons and scissors) these were provided very quickly. When booking had gone through somehow it missed that we were bringing dogs!! A quick conversation with the hosts and this was quickly and positively sorted.

Couldn't be helped but the stairs were an issue. We were an 82 year old, 67 year old and 56 year old. So carting everything up on arrival and down on departure was difficult. But this was a sort notice booking and we took what was available. Next time we would book the downstairs option.

The host, Toni is very friendly and helpful! The facility is clean and cozy. They have a cute dog as well. 😊

We met the owners and they were very nice and their dog was adorable! The kitchen had all the amenities that we needed. It appeared to be a newly renovated apartment and it was very nice.

We had such a fabulous night at Alma's retreat. My husband, myself and our 2 children stayed. Toni arrived to meet us, with 2 Easter eggs for the children. She also took us to meet her beautiful horses. And the kids played fetch with Davey the dog. The apartment was spotlessly clean. And so spacious. My children couldn't believe they had their own bathroom. We all loved our stay from start to finish. And will most definitely be going back. Thanks for everything Toni. It was our pleasure to meet you x

The space was very comfy and spacious. The treats on arrival were a lovely touch. It was also great that we were able to bring out dog. It was a lovely weekend away after a difficult week. <3

The first step is big...be careful! We struggled to figure out how to turn on the heat, but Toni had left tons of electric heaters, so we used those instead (I didn't ask Toni about the heating, so I won't give out about it!).

Very comfortable and cosy even though we weren't there for very long.
