Very great choice in Kratie. The host family is so kind and always coming up for a chat (which I really appreciate as a solo traveler). Simple and very comfortable room and always willing to help you get around/give recommendations. Thank you for the great stay :)

Simple and effective

I stayed for two nights and had a great stay Dolphin Home Stay. The room was comfortable and overall the place was good value for money. The host (called Hak) was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He also drove me to the dolphin viewing in his tuk-tuk. He even invited me to share a few beers with him. I would definitely recommend dolphin home stay.

I loved my stay here. The family were all so welcoming and friendly and took me on a tour around! Would highly recommend (especially Joe the cat)!

Hello the owner is a nice family man who seems to have a lovely family,i went on a couple of trips with him which were excellent, I stayed in his family home in a room with its own bathroom and it was fine,it had everything you needed,although so hot in the daytime the temperature drops alot at night so the 2 fans he has are more than sufficient, I would stay here again if I return to kratie,everything was fine,location was good,5 minutes walk to riverside

Ich hatte eine tolle Zeit in dem Homestay von Hack. Er hieß mich sehr herzlich willkommen und lied mich ein auf ein Bier mit seinem besten Freund. Ich buchte die ganz Tagestour bei der mich Hack in seinem TukTuk und anschließend auf seinem Moped herum fuhr. Ich erfuhr sehr spannende Sachen über lokale klein Fabriken und er zeigte mir die Insel Kaoh Trong. Ich hatte einen wunderbaren Tag und kann Hack nicht genug danken. Generell war er unfassbar hilfsbereit und half mir sogar einen Helm zu kaufen und fur mich zur Bank. Zudem gab er mir seine zwei Hunde als „Wachen“ mit auf das Grundstück der Hütte was ich sehr wertschätzte. Die Unterkunft an sich war sehr großzügig, nett eingerichtet und bequem. Es gab drei Ventilatoren in der Hütte, jeweils einen über dem Bett. Zu dem gab es über der Hütte auf dem Dach ein Wassersprinklersystem das extra Abkühlung gab. Die Hütte war sehr schön gelegen mit einem wunderbaren Ausblick auf den Melkong, auf der kleinen Terrasse konnte man sehr gut den Sonnenuntergang beobachten.

In der Hütte an auch gab es kein wlan was aber kein Problem darstellte da Hack sein wlan bereitstellte.

It's a cute homestay. The host is very friendly and showed us the area and gave us breakfast und dinner. You'll stay in a wooden cottage with a nice terrace with river view.

I booked a private room with private bathroom, but slept in a cottage (basically one room) with 2 other people and shared bathroom. Bed was big and mosquito net was there. There was a curtain between me and the other person.

The bungalow was simple but very good for price. Clean bathroom, good view and the owner was very helpful with transportation and tips. He also understood that we had to leave one day earlier because of the loud music.

1. The was a wedding next to the accommodation and as tradition says, during the previous days, the music has to be out loud from 4 am. 2. The owner should be aware that he cannot use the bungalow as his 'batcave' to hang out with his friends if there are guests, as that can affect their privacy.

Je n’ai pas pu rester il faisait une chaleur infernale dans la chambre où y avait malheureusement pas de lavabo non plus avec les toilettes

Petite chambre simple avec salle de bain privative, pour un arrêt backpack de 1 ou 2 nuit maximum c'est suffisant . Hôte très gentil.

L'hôte est un chauffeur de tuktuk, il nous a proposé d'aller voir les dauphins sans nous communiquer de prix, nous avons pensé qu'en étant guest il nous ferais la course gratuite mais surprise au moment du chek out lui n'était pas la, c'est son fils qui nous a pris en charge et nous a demander 15$ pour un aller retour de 40min ... nous n'avons pas trouvé ça correct, 15$ c'est le prix pour une demie journée pas pour 40 min .

Localisation

Nous sommes restés 2 nuits. Très difficile de dormir car déplacements incessants de cafards sur les murs en tôle ondulée de la chambre, mais nous nous sommes aussi fait réveiller par des cafards dans notre lit malgré la moustiquaire. Certains cafards étaient gros comme la paume de la main. Le propriétaire nous a proposé de mettre du répulsif toxique dans notre chambre et sur le lit… nous avons refusé. Nous avons fini par dormir sur la table à manger. Nous comprenons que dans une région chaude il y a des cafards, mais il est vexant de voir que le propriétaire ne nous croit pas et nous nargue à plusieurs reprises en disant qu’on a peur de petites fourmis. Si le propriétaire ne nous avais pas autant manqué de respect, nous n’aurions pas mis de commentaire car sa femme et son fils sont très gentils. De plus la chambre n’est pas propre J’espère qu’avec ce commentaire le propriétaire se remettra en question car il ne semblait pas vouloir régler le problème à notre départ pour les prochains voyageurs. PS : le tour à 15$ sur la demi-journée pour les dauphins proposé par le propriétaire n’est pas un « tour » mais juste un service de tuktuk, car il n’inclut pas … les dauphins et les rapid. Aucune explication culturelle ou historique. Il faut donc prévoir 10$ de plus pour voir les dauphins une fois sur place (nous n’avons pas été mis au courant).

J’ai passé un séjour incroyable dans cette homestay à Kratié. Au départ je cherchais simplement un endroit calme pour me reposer quelques jours, et je suis finalement tombé sur bien plus que ça. Hak et sa famille sont d’une gentillesse et d’une générosité rares. Dès mon arrivée, je me suis senti accueilli comme à la maison. Hak m’a fait découvrir la vie locale : footing le long du Mékong au lever du soleil, observation des dauphins, récolte de mangues et même de miel chez sa famille. Une expérience totalement authentique. On peut aussi manger sur place, et tout est simple et bon. Si vous cherchez une expérience locale, loin du tourisme de masse, je recommande cet endroit les yeux fermés. Merci encore Hak pour ces moments que je n’oublierai pas !

Il caos della casa che sembra un garage adibito a magazzino, la camera con le pareti in lamiera che diventa un forno nonostante due ventilatori, il secchio al posto del lavandino, possono diventare un'esperienza simpatica, infatti io, dopo il primo sgomento, l'ho vissuta così. Una specie di cuccia. Però, per essere onesti con i viaggiatori, le cose vanno dette per quello che sono, poi uno fa la sua scelta.

L'insistenza del gestore a voler farmi i biglietti per Dondet. Preferisco gestire io la logistica, ma con lui è stato impossibile. Aveva il suo tornaconto e va bene, quello che non mi è piaciuto è che un viaggio di circa cinque ore è durato undici. Tre cambi di minivan e attese estenuanti. Consiglio a chi decide di soggiornare qui di farsi i biglietti da sé.

Hak and his family were so friendly, inviting us to eat dinner with them each night and Hak took us to all the amazing attractions around Kratie. You feel the full Cambodian experience here!

Nothing not to like

Clean room. Comfortable bed. Good AC. Walkable to downtown. Free bike rental or affordable scooter rental. Definitely book a dolphin tour with the host! Our favorite part of the stay was the authentic experience of being at a homestay. The husband and wife are incredibly hospitable! Hanging out with locals is one our favorite things about traveling, and you’ll get the opportunity to do so if you stay here!

Hak is an amazing host, he really went above and beyond for us. Out of all the home stays we’ve been to, this one really felt like we were guests in someone’s home. The dog, Lucky, is also a good boy.

It was a nice local experience staying at this homestay, felt really like at home as the owner was very friendly, cooked dinner at home, and even gave me the bicycle to use for free. The room was basic, but good for the price.

My time in Dolphin Home stay was amazing! Hak showed me Kratie through his eyes and make this time in his home with his family and friends just so authentic ! He helped me with everything even let me his bike for free!

I highly recommend this homestay if you want to experience real life in Cambodia. The owners were incredibly kind, welcomed me like a member of their family, and helped organize a trip to see the dolphins. The location is peaceful, just a bit outside the town center.

A Truly Magical and Unforgettable Stay I had the absolute pleasure of spending time in this wonderful homestay, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. The family is incredibly warm, welcoming, and kind. They open their home with open hearts and truly make you feel like part of the family. You can also have delicious homemade food. They even lent me a bike free of charge to explore the city and shared delicious mangoes fresh from their own garden. If you're looking not just for a place to stay, but a true home away from home, this is it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this special experience – I will definitely return.

Insight into real Cambodian life. The host was really up for taking us on rides around the village and even showed us to his mother’s mango farm! We were given free mangos for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Room got quite hot with just a fan but could be sure to the time we visited! Bit more intense than a usual hostel stay but worth it. Family super accommodating and friendly

We had a wonderful time at Hak's home. He really did his best to make it feel like home. During our travel to Cambodia, we have been visiting a lot on our own but here we went on the countryside tour with him and it was nice being with a local as he could tell us many things about local life and even teach us some Khmer. Hak is very friendly and funny too, we had good laughs. He and his wife cooked a nice breakfast to us and we got to try local fruits. The room we were staying in was simple and nice. We definitely recommend this homestay !

The host is amazing and took me on priceless tours. Would warmly recommend. The accommodation is very good for the price.

It was a ten minute walk from the city centre, which I had no problem with. The host also provide motorbike rental.

The family were very friendly. Made us breakfast both mornings and in the evening gave me a beer for free! Their son was very skilled at Roblox.

This is an authentic homestay so don't book expecting a luxury hotel but we had a really great time.

Hak has a very friendly approach and will help you out as much as he can. We felt at ease asking him for help with everything - from accommodation and bike renting to tuk tuk driver. When we ran into him on our way to the harbour, he warned us we were going in the wrong direction and gave us a lift to the right spot so we wouldn't miss the boat. He even invited us for a meal at his place. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to go. We were provided with everything we needed, even mini toothbrushes and toothpastes.

The room and the bathroom were fairly clean, but there was definitely some room for improvement in that area. The room floor was not swept, we found someone elses haircomb in the bathroom and there were some issues with the cleanliness of one of the bedsheets. However, the bed sheet in question was replaced immediately and I'm sure the floor would have been swept had we asked.

I had so much fun staying at this home stay. The family is so sweet, they cook amazing food and they make you feel very welcome. I even got to go to a Cambodian party with them which was a very fun and unique experience!
