Gaga Bees Ella

Lovely spot to stay, the area is well looked after and built. The rooms are nice giving a hut type vibe. No air conditioning but they provide fans as well as mozzy nets. Hotel is happy to provide lifts with their tuk tuk if you need it. Lovely Marco the dog always around for a happy fuss too!

Location was up 2 fairly steep hills, around a 10 minute walk into the main centre but nothing major.

Les bungalows sont bruts et doublés de toile à l’intérieur. Très mal isolés du bruit et laissent passer des petites bêtes Nous avions un lézard bloqué entre la toile et la cloison qui se baladait . L’accès n’est pas simple. Même si le personnel vient vous chercher en tuc tuc en bas à l’arrivée et vous descend au départ

Was over priced for what it is. If it was advertised as glamping it would be better. Also an extremely steep hill to get to the property. Our driver had to abandon us half way up the hill as a car could not fit up. We had to walk or alternatively used a tuktuk to get to the property. The walls are also extremely thin as they are made from tarp. Could hear our neighbour coughing throughout the night. No A/C in the property. There was also a window in the bathroom which was constant open which allowed frogs, geckos and mosquitos to enter the bathroom quite easily.

Loved the location. Just a walk into town but away from the crowds and noise. Beautiful having a pool to dip into especially on the hotter days. Such lovely staff that offer laundry services, tuk tuk rides etc. Also had a beautiful pet, Marco the dog, he was so cute and friendly. Lots of outdoor areas the hang and play cards. Would recommend 100000%%%%

Really cool, modern cabins, all very well maintained. Everything was spotless. The guys who run the place are amazing — attentive, helpful, and incredibly friendly. The egg sandwich for breakfast was simply incredible. If you’re coming to Ella, I 100% recommend staying here!!

Schahan and the team could not be more helpful, making sure we had everything we needed, arranging our travel around Ella to dropping us off at the station. They were warm friendly and it was a genuinely enjoyable stay. The place feels homey, and it’s super clean. Thanks for a great stay and a lovely breakfast.

El desayuno no estaba mal y la ubicación del alojamiento es ok al estar a 10 min andando del centro, aunque está muy en la montaña y se necesita tuk tok por la noche

Es demasiado caro calidad-precio. Tuvimos una muy mala experiencia, no pudimos ducharnos bien ningún día ya que la presión de la ducha no estaba bien, y salía apenas un hilo de agua. Además tampoco había agua caliente. Las cabañas en las fotos parecen que están bien, pero además de no estar muy limpias, no están bien acondicionadas para estar en plena naturaleza. El tejado es como de paja y las paredes de tela con agujeros. En la habitación encontramos todo tipo de insectos y reptiles, y el último día una tarántula enorme encima de la cama. Nuestros vecinos se encontraron una serpiente. No lo recomendamos para nada para lo caro que es.

Zeer nette en smaakvol, zeer vriendelijk personeel. Sheehan was een zeer attentvolle gastheer. Water van zwembad was verfrissend na een warme dag.

Super gastvrije ontvangst door uitermate vriendelijke en behulpzame mensen. De ligging is fantastisch in de natuur en toch op loopafstand van het centrum van Ella. Heerlijk ontbijt en voor een vroege hike maken ze een 'ontbijtje to go'. De accommodatie ligt tegen een heuvel, maar ze rijden je met een eigen tuktuk naar boven of naar beneden indien gewenst. Absolute aanrader!

De sfeer van de huisjes was echt top, vooral in de avond. Een klein zwembad om even af te koelen. Het vriendelijke personeel.

De douche werkte bij ons erg slecht, dat was jammer. Er loopt een lieve hond, die kwam helaas iedere keer zijn behoefte doen bij onze huisjes. Dat was minder fijn. Wel werd het meteen opgeruimd door het personeel als we het melden.

Het personeel is onwijs vriendelijk. Toen een vriendin een beetje bang was voor de eekhoorntjes (doen niks), kregen we gelijk een andere kamer.

Kleinschalig en gezellig hotel. Leuke huisjes en fijn bed en fijne badkamer. Het hotel is op loopafstand van het centrum maar wel lekker net buiten de drukte. Goed ontbijt, en een super lieve hond Marco 😃

The breakfast had very few options. The usual English Bf was not available. No meat was served. The road leading to hotel is bit of a challenge.

De acomodatie ligt heerlijk in de natuur.

Uiteindelijk ben je een gast in de natuur. Ik zou kunnen voorstellen dan gasten onrustig zouden kunnen worden als er een vriendelijk eekhoorntje even voorbijkomt in de nok van het dak.

El personal es muy amable y servicial, te ayudan en absolutamente todo. Desayuno muy abundante. El ambiente que crea el hotel en medio de la naturaleza.

Falta de iluminación natural en las cabañas.

The location was good, slightly out the way and up a steep hill, however due to the nature of the resort, it was understandable. The 2 staff members were lovely, and very helpful.

The pool looked dirty, and had leaves all around it, and in it. Also, once we had arrived, we were told about small squirrels which were harmless which may run on the roof, we understood this as it was in the nature. However, when we were resting in our cabin, there was 2 squirrels running in and out, through the gap between the walls and the roof. They physically came inside the cabin and would run above you, with no way to stop them. We had to check out, due to our own personal comfort, but were refunded no money (paid in cash) for our 3 night stay, when we had only been there for 3 hours. I am extremely disappointed.

The place was very beautiful and in a nice location and the hotel staff was nice.

The place is full of insects, frogs that make noise at night that really disturbs sleep, the bed was really hard and something about the place feels strange.

The people and comfort

Our stay was the best. We had a great time. Such great hospitality and hosts. They go above and beyond for you. Breakfast was great and the moussy bowl was just delicious. The rooms were tropical and well appointed. All in all they couldn’t do enough for us!

The pool was a bit slippery

l'hôtel est à l'extérieur de la ville dans la nature, mais pas accessible en voiture, tout juste en tuk tuk, et le tuk tuk est compris que les bagages, sinon c'est payant. Il y a environ 10 minutes à pied du centre et ça grimpe, alors pour ceux qui veulent faire un peu d'exercice, c'est top ;o) le personnel est top et très attentionné.

nous sommes arrivé à 16h de notre trip de la journée (départ à 8h du matin) et on nous a demandé s'il fallait faire les chambres... pour 100.- la nuit, je trouve un peu juste qu'ils attendent notre retour pour demander, ça doit être fait automatiquement. Il faut prévoir beaucoup de temps pour le petit déjeuner, et pendant qu'on mangeait un gros chien se promenait vers nous, pour ceux qui ont peur, c'est pas idéal, malgré que le chien soit très sympa. la piscine est petite et le coin n'est pas super propre. Payement cash à l'arrivé!!!

The staff were all so friendly and the location is great, close to the centre but so peaceful and quiet. Less than 10 minutes to get to the main restaurants / bars. Breaking was great!

The attention of the staff team was exceptional. They went out of their way to ensure my stay was great. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and it was great to meet other travellers in the small dining space to share information and tips. It is a friendly place. Sashika's english was an enormous help and he did everything he could to help out. He is a great asset to Gagabees!

The staff were lovely and really helpful in organising tuk tuk etc. the rooms were clean and tidy and had mosquito nets. The pool is lovely and clean also. They had a good variety of breakfasts which were lovely and provided tea and coffee and fresh fruits and fruit juice

It is not a hotel, it is glamping. This meant lots of insects in the room, lots of insect bites and also our last night we had lots of squirrels and squirrel poo in the room (and had to change room). This is an experience and I’d be happy to do it for a night or two but I would not recommend any longer. It’s also on a very steep hill that cars cannot get up, only tuktuks.

The staff were super friendly and helpful, breakfast was very nice, hotels tuk tuk helped us up and down with our luggage. The area was beautiful you are right up in the hills. The walk into and back from town is extremely steep, especially tricky when it’s raining.

Due to excessive rain the room felt damp and smelt musty, the rooms were basic with a very hard mattress. This is not a 4 star property and it was a little over priced for the type of accommodation. Other than breakfast, no other food or drinks are available.

The stuff were very friendly and helpful. The location was so pretty as well. Breakfast was delicious as well.

Es war ein ganz toller Aufenthalt für 2 Nächte. Und wurde jeder Wunsch erfüllt.

Een prachtige plek, met knusse huisjes, alles wat je nodig had was aanwezig. Een heerlijk ontbijt en super aardig personeel. Het dorpje is goed wandelend te bereiken. Dit hotel is een echte aanrader.

Helemaal niks

Gaga Bees liegt etwas oberhalb der Stadt mitten im Grünen. Für uns genau richtig, der Trubel war nicht zu hören, das Klima war sehr angenehm und man konnte viele Tiere beobachten. Das Frühstück war super und das ganze Team super nett. Absolute Empfehlung.

Grodor, ekorrar, skalbaggar och kryp inne i hyddorna. Hyddor byggda på trä med halmtak med plast för att täcka nock. Tältduk som klädsel på insidan. Duschen och toa hade knappt vattentryck. Duscha på en platta med stenar runtomkring som aldrig blir rengjorda. Fuktighet i hela boendet. Vi funderade på att byta boende efter första natten men gjorde inte det eftersom det var betalt och tillbringade istället så lite tid som möjligt i boendet. Bilderna lurar, är tagna från bästa möjliga sätt och troligen lite polerade utöver det. Poolen var ofräsch med grumligt vatten. Ett riktigt uselt boende för en prislapp som man normalt får ett fräscht boende i Sri Lanka. Boendet sänker förtroendet för Booking och den standard man normalt förväntar sig. Åk aldrig hit om du gillar att bo fräscht till normalstandard. Hade vi känt till detta innan så hade vi inte ens bott där om det var gratis. Lukt av mögel är inget som lockar.

Die Angestellten waren sensationell hilfsbereit. Wir hatten an unserem Fahrzeug einen platten Reifen und alle halfen beim Wechseln, sie organisierten die Reperatur des kaputten Reifens im Ort und wir mussten uns um nichts kümmern, am Schluss wollten Sie für die Arbeit die wir ihnen gemacht hatten ganze 2,50 € haben 🥲...vielen Dank im Nachhinein nochmal an das ganze Team 🙏 wir waren Euch so dankbar für die Hilfe.

Also unter einem Deluxe Appartement stellt man sich schon was anderes vor, das Zimmer war aber sauber und alles hat funktioniert, einfach normal. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, Frühstück war sehr gut!! Vor Bezug des Zimmers die Rechnung gleich bar zu bezahlen war etwas ungewohnt….

Very peaceful and quiet with a chilled vibe away from the town but within walking distance. Friendly welcoming staff who were happy to drive you down to town and an even friendlier resident dog Marco who is a cuddly bear. Good breakfast and a cool pool to chill in. Loved watching the fireflies in the evening in the forest.

We loved it but be aware you share this place with nature expect visitors around the accommodation , which we loved being immersed in the wild

Sehr naturell

La chambre est spacieuse et agréablement décorée,. La literie est très bonne Les petits dejeuners sont copieux et variés (faire son choix la veille). La pisicne est petite mais parfaite pour un rafraîchissement.

La proximité des cabines ; sachant quil n'y a aucune isolation hormis un tissu tendu, nous pouvions entendre nos voisins et vice-versa. La situation très en hauteur à 15-20 minutes à pieds du centre avec une montée très très raide que même les tuktuk ne montent pas. Pas de vue. La gestion par le manager inacceptable alors que nos affaires personnels ont été fouillées dans notre chambre. Je ne recommande pas cet hôtel qui en plus aura été l'hôtel le plus cher de notre séjour au Sri Lanka.

We had a wonderful stay at Gaga Bees Ella! The staff was absolutely amazing — so kind, welcoming, and always very attentive to our needs. They even gave us great travel tips and kindly arranged a tuk-tuk to take us to the center, which made everything so easy and convenient. The breakfast was delicious and a real highlight of our stay : fresh, generous, and beautifully prepared. Highly recommended — we would definitely stay here again! 🌿✨

The only small suggestion would be that the coffee could be a bit stronger. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

It is stunning. We came for our honeymoon. It was like a fairytale. Id recommend to anyone looking for some peace and quiet but still wanting to be close to the main road on ella.

We had limited time in Ella and wish we could have stayed longer. We loved the accomodation at GagaBees. The hotel is tucked up in the hills allowing you to feel a mile from anywhere but you aren’t taking advantage only a short walk from the main streets of Ella. The hotel is up a steep hill but it’s fine to walk and the newer diesel engine tuk tuks will take you up as well, you just need to ask a few to find one. The staff at the hotel are so warm and engaging, they will go out of their way to help you with anything you need. Although, you will want for very little! The breakfasts were beautiful and the pool is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring and hiking. The rooms are excellent, there is no AC but this was not an issue, even on a very hot day, the location of the rooms kept the beautifully cool and a fan was all we needed. The bathrooms are so cool. We used the mosquito nets at night but didn’t actually see any bugs or mosquitos in the rooms kept at all. The property is also the home of the two best dogs, Lola and Marco made our children’s stay!

Heerlijk verblijf gehad hier. De huisjes zijn mooi en schoon, het ontbijt was fantastisch en de mensen zijn super behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Het ligt op loopafstand van het centrum van Ella dus voor een paar dagen Ella zit je hier zeker goed. We hebben ons hier heel welkom gevoeld!
