有料ではあるが洗濯をしてくれる。（高くはない）夜は街中までトゥクトゥクで送迎してくれたので非常に助かった。

מקום מדהים! אין מספיק מילים כדי לתאר איזה אירוח חווינו במקום הזה. אנשים פשוט מדהימים שעשו הכל כדי שיהיה לנו טוב. הכינו לנו ארוחות לפי הבקשה שלנו, דאגו לנו לכביסות ולכל דבר שרק היינו צריכים – והכל בחיוך, בשמחה ובמאור פנים. השהייה במקום הזה הייתה עבורנו עונג גדול, ואנו ממליצים בחום להגיע לשם! An amazing place! There are not enough words to describe the hospitality we experienced here. Simply wonderful people who did everything to make us happy. They prepared meals according to our requests, took care of our laundry and anything else we needed—all with a smile, joy, and a warm welcome. Staying here was a great pleasure for us, and we highly recommend visiting!

De accomodatie lijkt erg nieuw en is heel modern. Het is fris, ruim, luxe en van allerlei gemakken voorzien. Van tandenborstels tot internationale stekkers en een magnetron. De bedden zijn ietwat kort, maar slapen heerlijk! Er is ook een fijne tuin met een stukje gras. Wat best welkom is na veel plekken met aarde. De mensen zijn bijzonder vriendelijk. Ze helpen met alles regelen, waren erg attent (bv de was even onder het afdakje zetten toen het even regende en wij weg waren) en ze serveren een geweldig ontbijt. Daarbij is het op loopafstand van het gezellige centrum, maar ligt het net zo, dat je geen last hebt van het geluid. Echt een pareltje!

We stayed in the bigger room with two beds. Super well appointed and modern facilities within, felt like a top notch hotel rather than a guesthouse with two rooms. Family was lovely and super accommodating.

A bit of a hill to climb from the Main Street, but Ella is a hilly town, so that is to be expected.

They really cared about me. Even if I would leave early. They prepared snacks to me for morning. They were friendly. My room was very clear but I saw very big bug in my room. I directly called owner. They handled the situation directly and they cleaned whole room again. Thank you for that.

I think there is no sound insulation. I heard whole discussion in the other rooms. Additionally, because of the area, there are a lot of bugs

The location is great and so is the cleanliness of the property, the staff are lovely and it is a wonderful breakfast! Also there is the opportunity to use their Tuktuk service which I would highly recommend!

Die Besitzer der Unterkunft waren sehr freundlich, höflich und zuvorkommend. Die Zimmer waren sehr gut ausgestattet mit zusätzlichen Adaptern für die Steckdosen und genügend Handtüchern. Durch die gute Lage konnte man innerhalb von 5 Minuten in das Stadtzentrum laufen. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und es gab traditionelle Speisen.

We had a great stay at Home Away Ella. The hosts were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable from the start. The room was thoughtfully designed and had everything we needed and more. It was also very clean and well maintained. The location is perfect—very close to the center, which made everything easy and convenient. Would definitely stay here again!

Le confort du matelat, l' eau chaude, la déco de la chambre et les petites attentions (trousse à pharmacie, produits de toilettes, etc). La famille est très accueillante et le petit déjeuner généreux et bon. L'hôte nous a organisé notre prochain transport à un prix très concurrentiel.

I had a really lovely stay here and would definitely recommend it. The location is very convenient and it’s easy to walk to the main streets where there are lots of restaurants and shops. The room was beautiful, with a very comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Everything felt very clean and fresh. There were also lots of thoughtful touches in the room, including useful things like adaptors, which made the stay even easier. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and there were good vegetarian options, which I really appreciated. I was also able to get my laundry done quickly and at a very reasonable price. The family who run the guesthouse are incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. They helped me with my bags and even gave me a lift to the main road in their tuk-tuk, which was very kind. The host was wonderful to talk to, very communicative, and gave lots of great tips about things to do around Ella. She also has a very lovely child who was very cute! I really felt well looked after during my stay and would happily stay here again!

The host couple are lovely people and this is a proper Homestay. The breakfast was top quality and served in your own private patio. Easy walk to town.

The problem is Ella itself, it has become a tourist theme park. People running smaller Homestays and hotels are the ones who suffer.

Wenn ich 12 von 10 Sterne vergeben könnte, dann würde ich dies direkt tun. Das Homestay war für uns in dieser Zeit wie ein zweites Zuhause und eine Zeit bei Freunden. Wir haben die Familie sehr lieb gewonnen. Wir wurden schon zu Beginn ganz herzlich mit Tee und Kuchen begrüßt. Das Zimmer ist nagelneu (erst 3 Monate alt), modern und sehr sauber. Man merkt die Liebe zum Detail und die durchdachte Gestaltung. Es wird einem jeder Wunsch erfüllt und ist professionell gestaltet. Die Kissen, Tassen und Pflegeprodukte sind sogar gebrandet. Ein ganz neues Level und haben wir so nirgendwo gefunden. Im Zimmer gibt es alles was man sich nur vorstellen kann: Klimaanlage, Ventilator, sämtliche Hygieneartikel, Föhn, Flip Flops, Mikrowelle, Tee und Kaffee inklusive Tassen und Wasserkocher, Kühlschrank, erste Hilfe Set. Tolle warme Dusche mit Regenbrause. Außerdem ist das Zimmer schallisoliert. In Ella wird es nachts etwas kühler. Davon merkt man hier aber nichts. Es ist kuschelig warm im Zimmer dadurch, dass man eine richtige Decke hat. Außerdem ist das Kissen super bequem. Man hat außerdem sehr gutes WLAN und seinen eigenen Router. Es ist also perfekt für alle, die nach einem Ort für Workation suchen oder als digitale Nomaden arbeiten. Als Arbeitsplatz kann man den Tisch im Außenbereich verwenden. Dieser ist geschützt und durch die Überdachung schön kühl und vor praller Sonne geschützt. Man hat einen tollen Blick auf den kleinen Garten und die schön angelegten Blumen. Das Homestay wird von einer ganz lieben und herzlichen Frau (!) geführt. Es ist ihr Homestay und eigenes Business. Insgesamt eine ganz tolle und liebe Familie. Wir durften sogar zu einem traditionellen Fest mit. Mit ihrem Mann, der ein Tuk Tuk Geschäft führt, haben wir eine ganz tolle Tour gemacht und er hat uns dabei so viele interessante Dinge gezeigt und erklärt. Es lohnt sich. Er ist super nett. Insgesamt haben wir ganz tolle Tipps für Unternehmungen erhalten.

Die Lage war super, etwas von der Hauptstraße entfernt, aber trotzdem gut fußläufig erreichbar Die Gastgeber waren sehr nett und zuvorkommend, auch bei früher Abreise habe ich statt Frühstück ein Lunchpaket bekommen. Das Zimmer ist liebevoll eingereicht und sehr gemütlich. Die Dusche hat heißes Wasser und guten Wasserdruck. Ich habe meine Zeit hier genossen

Es gibt leider keine Klimaanlage und dadurch war es nachts recht warm. Direkt nebenan ist ein Hostel, was abends sehr lange laut Musik laufen lässt.

Da limpeza, ambiente e simpatia da família que nos recebeu. Cortesia de um chá de welcome drink e na despedida também. O pequeno almoço era completo, variado e muito bom. A localização ok. E a hostess sempre disponível via whatzapp.

Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques et feront tout pour que votre séjour se passe au mieux. La chambre est propre, de bonnes dimensions (comme la salle de bains), le petit déjeuner est excellent.

Au dessus de l'hôtel se trouve une auberge de jeunesse qui peut être bruyante en début de nuit : n'oubliez pas vos bouchons d'oreilles.

Wat heb ik genoten van mijn verblijf bij Home Away Ella. De familie is ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam, en indien nodig rijden ze je in hun tuktuk overal naartoe. De kamer was ruim en schoon, inclusief klein terras waar ieder ochtend een heerlijk uitgebreid ontbijt werd geserveerd. Het ligt wat verder weg van het centrum (middels een kleine klim alsnog te lopen), maar daardoor is het er juist ook wel lekker rustig. Zou hier een volgende keer zo weer verblijven!

I loved everything about my stay at Home Away. I was welcomed by Hansi and very well looked after. She was sweet and professional by reaching out to me to coordinate my arrival. The room was incredibly clean and had everything I could ask for (and more). The space was thoughtfully furnished with extras like a kettle and mini fridge, comfortable bedding and toiletries. Hot showers, good internet. It made my travels very easy. Each morning the breakfast was fresh, nourishing and very tasty. It was definitely a big highlight. It took me 5 minutes to walk to Home Away from the Ella bus stop and was easy to find. I appreciated that it was convenient to get to all the main sites, shops and restaurants in Ella, but removed from the crowd and noise of the town. I’m very happy that I was able to book Home Away and would highly recommend. Hansi and family are all stars!

Alles hat gestimmt. Das Zimmer und daa Bad isind mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Es war alles sauber und gut gepflegt. Die Terasse war auch schön. Wir wurden herzlich mit Kaffee und Kuchen begrüßt. Bei Fragen zu Ausflägen bekommt man gute Tipps oder kann sie auch dort buchen. Das Frühstück war sehr sehr gut! Ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen. Lage zum Zentrum ist auch sehr gut. 10 bis 15 Minuten zufuß.

We had 3 x nights at Home Stay Ella early Sept, charged just over 41usd/night inc basic breakfast. After staying at many homestay b4 in Sri Lanka for 1/2 price we had high hopes. There is nowhere comfy to sit outside, only table & chairs used for brekky with no cushions. This only leaves the bed to sit on. Owner moved our washing multiple times & plumbing pipe in bathroom came off twice splashing dirty water everywhere. Nearly slipped over in bathroom shower area which is wet. The saving grace is Murunga cafe next door for fab food/drinks & were driven to train station

If this was 1/3 to 1/2 price we paid I would recommend. Owners could be friendlier & more customer focussed

I spent two nights at Home Away Ella and had an amazing experience. Sachintha provided excellent recommendations for things to do in the area, her husband kindly picked me up from the train station and dropped me off at the bus stop, and the home-cooked breakfasts were absolutely delicious. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with thoughtful amenities including an iron and tea/coffee facilities — it truly exceeded my expectations. Sachintha and her husband went above and beyond to take care of their guests. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Ella and the surrounding area. Gentilezza ed accoglienza dei proprietari, colazione superba, perfetta per affrontare i trekking in zona. Ottima posizione, a 5 minuti a piedi dal centro, ma fuori dalla caotica via principale e comoda per tutti i trekking di zona

La struttura è stupenda. La camera è dotata di molti accessori come il Wi-Fi, il phon, l’adattatore elettrico, un kit di primo soccorso ed altre cose molto utili ai viaggiatori. La pulizia è al di sopra dello standard e il profumo che emana la camera è inebriante, considerando la media nazionale. La colazione è eccellente. I proprietari sono accoglienti e gentili oltremodo, ci hanno accompagnati alla stazione senza pretendere nulla. Per quanto mi riguarda è la migliore struttura alberghiera che ho trovato in Sri Lanka.

De familie waar je verblijft is heel vriendelijk. Het welkom is warm. Het ontbijt is goed. De familie heeft 1 kamer aan huis, wel met een eigen ingang, dus ook voldoende privacy. Het fijnste is dat de man een Tuktuk chauffeur is en dat je met hem tourtjes kan doen. Communicatie gaat in gesprek makkelijker dan via WhatsApp, als je aangeeft wat je graag wil zien, denken ze echt heel goed mee. Ik was de derde dag jarig en bij het ontbijt werd ik verrast, heel lief. Prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is echt heel goed. Zowel van de kamer, als de tours. Tip, doe een stukje trein richting Ella via de Demodaraloop en de nine arches Bridge. Trein is dan nog niet zo druk en je krijgt zo toch de toffe ervaring met mooie uitzichten.

Locatie is niet helemaal ideaal, al is het maar een kleine 10 min. Lopen naar het centrum, het is wel een klimmetje op de terugweg. Al is het ook een voordeel dat je niet midden in de drukte van het echt drukke centrum zit. De kamer is vochtig, heeft deels met het klimaat te maken, maar ook deels met de badkamer die niet kan luchten, dus al dat vocht blijft in de kamer hangen, lijkt vrij eenvoudig op te lossen zijn met een hor voor het raam. (wij durfden het raam niet open te zetten ivm de muggen). Tip voor de activiteiten, skip de kruidentuin, dat is echt een tourist trap.

Le meilleur petit déjeuner dans cette île ! Gargantuesque ! Le lit était très bon! Nous avons bien dormi ! Nous avons beaucoup apprécié les petits équipements à notre disposition : chargeur universel, thé et café à disposition, coton tiges, parapluie, etc ! Tout est fait pour se sentir comme à la maison! Le couple est adorable et très arrangeant! Nous recommandons ce home stay!

Les murs sont fins donc nous entendons tous les bruits extérieurs, notamment un logement voisin qui faisait la fête donc attention pour ceux qui sont sensibles aux bruits, nous concernant cela ne nous a pas empêché de dormir 😴

Everything was amazing. The room is clean and the shower is great. You just need to turn on the heater switch for hot water. It’s less than a 10 minute walk to the bottom of the hill towards the shops/restaurants. Got breakfast early in the morning as well, hosts are very accommodating. Loved it there and I would definitely go back.

The most amazing stay in Sri Lanka, very clean spacious room, great shower with hot water , the breakfast was unbelievable, so big and tasty. The host went above and beyond for us every day! She helped us with everything , organised a good priced tuk tuk . We couldn’t recommend this place enough , there was not a single thing we could fault. Amazing 10/10

Staying at Home Away Ella was one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such genuine warmth and hospitality that we instantly felt like part of the family ❤️ The room had everything you need for a comfortable stay and the breakfast was super tasty. Host was so lovely, great breakfasts and good recommendations - very flexible and chatty, easy to contact for help! Super easy to start walks to little adam's peak or the 9 arches bridge!

Make sure to ask for directions as a couple lefts and rights to get there, but easy to get back to and from once you've checked in!

This is such a little gem and would highly recommend booking here. Sachi and family are very welcoming nothings is too much trouble. The rooms beautiful, clean, lots of space with a lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast in the garden was lovely the food was beautiful loved the Sri Lanka breakfast. Locations It’s 5-10 min walk down a steep road to the town but Sachi will pick you up and bring you home if available. If you want to do a tour or see the sites don’t prebook as Sachi will arrange and take you around in the tuk tuk organise with the property. This place is amazing and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. We had a great accommodation at Home Away Ella! The room was so clean and the host took care of everything. Inside the room we found tea, iron, box of emergency, etc. The bathroom had also everything (shower gel, hand wash and body wash). The breakfast was big and really delicious. We also tasted some local’s plates. In general the family was amazing and really tried to help us a lot! They suggested shops, restaurants, attractions, taxi.. everything! For sure our best accommodation at the island.❤️

From the moment we arrived to Ella we got the warmest of welcome by the lovely hosts. They picked us up with tuktuk and welcomed us with tea, coffe and a snack. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home and as comfortable as possible our whole stay. They helped arrange a trip to secret waterfall and also helped us to go on a safari the day we were leaving, even giving us breakfast to take with us at 4am in the morning! The room was clean, and had everything we needed. The patio in front of the room was cute. The walk into Ella city was no more than 5 minutes and you could also get a tuktuk with the hosts. The breakfast was also absolutely wonderful! Would recommend everyone to visit this wonderful accommodation!

Sachintha was the most amazing host. She made us feel so welcome and made us a delicious breakfast every morning. Her husband even took us on a day tour to see some waterfalls. Their daughter was also very cute and would come to say hello at breakfast time. What a beautiful family! We feel very grateful for such a wonderful experience during our time in Ella.

We had the best stay. The room is so comfortable. We like the bed and linen. The husband and wife take such good care of us and sort everything out for us. The shower is nine and hot and the breakfast was excellent. We liked everything about the place and our stay.

Located a short walk from Ella center, in a beautiful garden. The room is clean and comfortable. We noticed that some guests complained in their reviews about lack of hot water, but there was plenty of hot water during our stay - just follow the host's instructions :)

Breakfast was tasty. Host Sachintha, is very friendly and accommodating. She kept in touch with me before and after my stay to check in with me and even organised her husband to come pick us from train station. Her place is absolutely clean snd delightful, bed is comfy and short walk to main street. She was able to assist with train and bus times, along with recommendations for sights to see. Highly recommend and would stay again!

I can’t imagine better stay in Ella. Owners are the sweetest people that will help with anything you can think of. Location is perfect, close to city center (5 minutes of walking) but not so close that you will be bothered by noise that comes with busy town such as Ella. Everything was clean and bed was comfy. Free wifi, fan, towels and soaps provided. Amazing breakfast.. the pancakes are to die for. An 10/10 stay.

Sachi and Hansa were lovely hosts. They are very welcoming and their entire family was very friendly. Their little daughter was an absolute delight! As well as a fantastic homemade breakfast we were provided with tea/coffee and snacks on arrival and offered the same when we came back from a hike. We were given rides into town if needed via Tuk tuk. The room is great value for money with some lovely little touches, such as a first aid box and additional toiletries. The location is great - 5 minutes into Ella on foot (although via a steep hill which may be difficult for those with any additional needs)

THE most lovely family and home stay in all of Ella! It was really the best accomodation throughout all of our Sri Lanka travels. The host family is very caring, helps you with every need and can help you arrange transportation and everything else. Cozy and clean room, no need for an A/C because of the cold Ella nights. Very good breakfast, that even was prepared for us to go, when we had to leave at 4 AM. The hosts daughter is a little sunshine and the baby cat is crazy and fun to play with. Location is very central, 8 min walk to the main road and directly next to the famous Wild Bee Hostel. Would absolutely recommend!

The hosts are extremely friendly and gave us good input what to do in Ella (the monastery with meditation is really a great experience!!). The breakfast was amazing, plenty of food, every day something different, lots of fruits, freshly made shake/juice... When we came home in the afternoon or evening, we were offered tea or coffee, always with some crackers/biscuits. The bed is very comfortable, the room decorated nicely. Great location - Ella is really busy, but here you are away from the noise and hustle and can relax in the green shades. However, you're in the city in 5 minutes and you can walk to the Nine Arches Bridge and Little Adam's Peak without taking a Tuktuk.

We really enjoyed our stay the hostess was so kind and welcoming breakfast was superb and the bed was the comfiest one we’ve had in Sri Lanka yet, the homeowner even made us tea and cake on several occasions when we came back from a day of sight seeing lovely place to stay close to everything but away from the craziness of Ella

There is ongoing construction of a new hotel behind the home stay so you can hear power tools and workmen all day and into the night this is not the hostess fault but just something to note. We also had our own tuk tuk and the home stay is located up some quite steep hills so keep that in mind however the owners husband was more than happy to help drive our tuk tuk safely for us to the top.

Though very close to town the location was a bit out of the way (up and down steep hills, and quite secluded), so this wouldn’t suit all travelers.

Lovely stay with the host family. They were so welcoming and friendly, offered lots of advice and direction of what to do in the local area We stayed for 3 nights. They even invited us to their adorable daughter's 1st birthday party. The breakfast was superb, so much and very well cooked. We were regularly offered tea and coffee, always accompanied with biscuits. The location is very good about a 5 min walk off the main strip in Ella. Next door is a private laundry service which we used and was great 700 ruppees per kilo.

The host's husband is a Tuk Tuk driver and he took us to the Diyaluma falls taking in the Rivana caves on the way. Great visit but check the cost of any trip (9-3pm) as they charged us 15000 ruppees which was 3 times the cost we had paid for an all day tour in other places. (Our 3 night stay cost 22000). My bad should have checked beforehand. The WIFI needs attention & really doesn't work; took 1 hr to load 10 WhatsApp pics & most websites won't load, maybe has a fault, I did mention it. The location is good for Ella, but if you want quiet, best choose a location further out as Ella club music is audable until 2am. However, it was still all a wonderful stay.

We had a lovely comfortable stay here and were made to feel so welcome by the whole family. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. It's so nice to stay somewhere where the small details have all been thought of. There was even a first aid kit and emergency toothpaste! The bed was so comfortable, i haven't slept that well in ages! The bathroom is lovely too with it's own water heater so available when ever you need it. We especially enjoyed the breakfast, lots of fresh fruit, juice or smoothie, coffee, toast and sri lankan treats to try . The location is perfect, just a short walk from town in a peaceful natural garden. Great value for money too! Highly recommend.

Great breakfast. Lovely hosts. Laundry service. Quiet location but only a short walk to main street of Ella. Hosts couldn't do enough for you and their tuk tuk is always available for any trips or journeys that you want. We were picked up free from the train station.

Lack of clothes hanging space - but that isn't unusual in Sri Lanka

The family are so, so, so nice and accommodating. They gave us free lifts back and forth to the town should we have wanted one (it is a big hill to the accommodation which is walkable but something not doable if you have bad mobility).

Something we didn't see in the reviews was the size of the hill. Although this can be negated by the tuktuk offering from the family. If you have a driver it is very difficult to get to the venue.

Everything about Home Away Ella was perfect. Comfortable, clean, spacious room with attention to detail (hairdryer, kettle, plug adaptor). Breakfast every morning was so generous, delicious and varied every morning so you always get something new to try! Even fresh juices/smoothies😋 Location is ideal, quiet but less than ten minutes walk and you’re in the centre (it is up a steep hill but not a problem for us). But what really made our stay were the hosts. They really can’t do enough for you and are always super responsive and willing to help in any way they can. We were collected from the train station and dropped to the bus stop, offered tea and biscuits every day, driven to Diyaluma falls for a reasonable price, advised on places to see, restaurants to eat at and bus times and they even dried our washing on their line for us! If you are thinking of staying here and the room is free (crazy how they aren’t always booked up!) don’t hesitate. If we ever find ourselves in Ella again we will be back! Thank you so much😃

Can’t fault it😊

The staff/family were amazing! Room was very comfortable with a great shower, and a fridge. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, we ended up extending by 2 days and cancelling our other accomodation in Ella because we loved it so much. There is only one room so make sure to book it quickly!

The room is lovely, feels and looks new, smells nice, and is supremely comfortable. I missed this place when I left. Hansa and Sachi are excellent hosts. Hansa made it easy for me to find trails, good restaurants, and the right buses. Sachi took me to Ella’s Rock, waterfalls, a cave, and sites. He took wonderful photos and videos of me and gave me just the right amount of information on each place. Other guides I’ve had in Sri Lanka have talked so much it makes it hard to appreciate what I’m seeing so Sachi’s measured and pleasant demeanor was refreshing. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Elle. I have nothing but the highest praise for these special hosts and the room. Also, it’s a short walk to town, The bus station, the 9 arch bridge and Little Adams Peak.
