Havelock City Hostel, Colombo

O hostel é sujo, especialmente os banheiros que são coletivos e compartilhados entre homens e mulheres (o que eu não acho seguro nem conviniente). Além disso, não tem nenhum tipo de facilidade na cozinha, nem fogão, nem microondas, nem geladeira e a internet não funciona no quarto, apenas nas áreas comuns

This is a commercialized business. Not supposed to be hostel . Trying to get all the backpacker's naming it has a hostel. There's always better hostel than this in Colombo. The old staff act like your father screaming at you and bullshit. I was in a incident where I lit my cigarette out of the hostel since it's a no smoking place but the way staff told me to go a little further wasn't that nice. He almost wanted to beat me. No apology nothing from the management. But I did apologized for the situation that escalated because of me. But staff and nobody cares about the customer only . money.

I had a really good experience staying here, and overall everything was very nice and comfortable. From the moment I arrived, the reception was friendly and helpful, and the staff were very kind and supportive throughout my stay. They made me feel comfortable and welcomed, which I really appreciated. One of the best things about this place is the price. The price is very reasonable compared to the facilities and services they provide. I honestly feel that you get very good value for your money. The sleeping area was comfortable and clean, with bunk beds and an air-conditioned room, so it was a good place to relax and get proper rest. I was also happy with the facilities provided. I got a nice bed, a pillow, and a blanket, which made the sleeping area comfortable. They also provide an iron table and an iron, which is something you don't always find in a place at this price. There is also a washing machine available, which is very useful, especially for people staying for several days. A refrigerator is also available, which makes it very convenient to keep food and drinks. The dining area was also well arranged and had the necessary things such as spoons, cups, and other basic items. Everything was kept clean and organized. The toilet and bathroom were also nice, clean, and well maintained, which is very important when choosing a place to stay. Overall, I can say that everything was fine and I was very satisfied with my stay. The reception, staff, cleanliness, facilities, comfort, and especially the affordable price were all good. I really appreciated the fact that so many useful facilities were provided. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and budget-friendly place with good facilities. I had a pleasant experience and would be happy to stay here again.

One small thing to note is that food is not available for purchase at the property, so guests need to arrange their meals separately.

Capisco che sia una struttura che si appoggia su un ente no profit, però ci sono stati gravi problemi: 1) nonostante avessimo informato del check-in tardivo, in piena notte, e ci avessero detto di non preoccuparci; non c'era nessuno a farlo, dopo 1 ora grazie ad una cliente che si era alzata siamo riusciti ad avere la camera perché. Abbiamo telefonato/scritto nessuno ci rispondeva. Ci hanno risposto alle 10 del mattino (noi siamo arrivati alle 3.30 di mattina circa) dicendoci che la persona che ci doveva fare il check-in se n'era andata perché non stava bene. 2) l'acqua calda non ha funzionato fino alle 17.00 3) il bagno emanava un tanfo nauseabondo 4) WiFi poco funzionante

The place is clean, AC is strong, price and location CP value high. Also appreciate the message delivered by the hostel run by the organisation. No drugs and alcohol.

Mold on the wall next to the bathroom, causing smell in the room a bit unplesant. Internet signal in the rooms not so strong.

The property was clean, well located and decently maintained. The reception staff was friendly, helpful and polite.

The hostel is located in the same building as Alcohol and Drug Information center, therefore no guests are allowed to drink or smoke inside or anywhere close to the hostel. Secondly the security guard is rude and frequently misbehaves with guests if they go out or come late at night, despite the fact that there are no curfew timings for the hostel. Which is very disappointing.

I genuinely loved this place. I liked it so much that I felt like I could stay there every day. The facilities were really good. I stayed there while attending an exam, and the environment was perfect for studying, with all the necessary facilities available. The only downside was that the dormitory bathroom became dirty quite quickly because it was shared by many people. Other than that, I was very satisfied with everything. The security was also excellent, which made me feel safe throughout my stay. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this place.

Cheaper than most places on Marine Drive, but exceptional quality. The bathroom was surprisingly clean. Efficient. Electrical outlets for every bed. A/C, lounge, kitchen, great collection of books

If you're a smoker, u need to know that this is located in the Anti Drug Information building, meaning no matter how nice the balcony looks you're not allowed to smoke inside. But that's probably a good thing too. Plenty of cafe's outside anyway

I liked the location. The staff is friendly and available to help.

The stay had a few positives, but overall the experience was disappointing. The room had a very strong smell of cleaning liquid throughout our stay, it wasn’t unpleasant exactly, but it was overpowering and uncomfortable.One of the reasons we booked the room was because of the window behind the bed shown in the pictures, but in reality it was painted white and there was no view at all.The lighting is bad.We also experienced power cuts three times during our stay. The staff did try to fix the issue quickly each time, and eventually changed our room, which we appreciated. However, the repeated interruptions and room change wasted a lot of our time and disrupted the plans we had for the day. Unfortunately, the washroom in the new room was also not very nice.

A bit far out of town, but otherwise decent. Upgraded us for free as our booked room wasn't available. No drinking/smoking as there is an addiction center on the top floor.
