The location was wonderful and amenities were lovely. The greeting upon arrival was so kind and impressive!!! Location was superb!

The menus for dinner options were different than advertised. One was Kaiseki and the other was Sukiyaki but on the website it showed tempura, etc which I had preferred. After being told we both had to choose the same menu, we opted for the Kaiseki. Had I know the other option was Sukiyaki, I wouldn’t have chosen it from the beginning. The Kaiseki was good

The room was beautiful, clean and in a perfect location. We enjoyed the staff, friendliness and facilities. The rooftop bar happy hour was nice too plus free coffee.

We were in one of the Bettei rooms which we highly enjoyed but for the upgrade, some things could be improved! Our free room refrigerator was not stocked completely every night. We stayed 5 nights and only had 1 bottle of wine. The waffle treats were only replaced 2 times. On the night it rained and happy hour was inside, only beer and flavored wine was available. For the Bettei rooms, they could have done a bit better. Would I stay again, yes but I think Bettei rooms could have been a bit better served. We still loved it.

fantastic suite room with view on gion and the surrounding mountains- location at the entance of Gion- The hotel restaurant also great for a reasonnable price- have to reserve 3 days in advance except for business rooms!! even found ba vry nice restaurant teppanyaki next to the hotel!

one negative point easy to solve* there were a high shelf in the room with a fake bonsai on it full of dust! ask the lady who clean the room to clean it once in a while cause some customer are tall and will notice!!

The rooftop is just incredible - between the foot bath and the view, it is truly magical vibe. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful and went over and above. Great location, with countless shops and eateries in walking distance.

We were on the third floor. I would have booked a higher floor.

Having the onsein in the room was the best part. Location is close to Gion, eateries,shopping. Staff very helpful.

Private onsen and waterfall in our room. All minibar items were included. Wonderful traditional Japanese meal with great service. All the staff were friendly and gracious.

They really make an effort to make your stay memorable and enjoyable. Taking care of all small details. Especially, I would like to note that the beds, blankets and bed linens are so soft and comfy, you sleep like you are in paradise. Traditional Japanese breakfast, helps you to indulge and experience the best of Japan. Choosing the plates and decorating the dishes to create an esthetic impression. Dinner was amazing. Tasty, and beautiful.

The location was excellent! This was our second time visiting Kyoto. Our first time staying in the Gion area, and Sora Niwa's location was better. It is close to the shopping area, and many heritage sites are within 30 minutes' walking distance. As a tourist who doesn't like to drive, this hotel is ideal. Their breakfast was also amazing. It's Keisei-style with freshly made dishes, which brought tears to my eyes. So delicious and pretty to look at. Did I mention that we booked the on-site onsen? This was the best decision I made for this trip. After a long walk on a rainy day, soaking in your own hot tub was the most recharging thing to do. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful property! The rooms were incredible with the personal Japanese spa bath on the deck over-looking all the historic temples on the hills. So close to everything. The roof top-deck was beautiful with the foot soaking bar. The very best part was the staff who were top-notch and so kind to us with every little detail. Shirakawa-san, Ishimoto-san and Mine-san (Coco) are worth mentioning for their spectacular customer service and kindness.

We pre-ordered the breakfasts and about half our group of six got tired of eating Japanese fishy food, as good as it is, and we were not able to get a refund on breakfasts missed so make sure that you really want Japanese breakfast everyday before you pay for that. The alternative Western breakfast they prepared special for our group (not usually available) was pretty nice of the chef to accommodate us.

This place was a mixed bag for me. First, it was very confusing to find because the Sora Niwa Terrace Bettei is listed as a separate hotel from the Sora Niwa Terrace Kyoto but they are both housed in the same building. Nice place though, clean, beds were comfortable and the private onsen was nice to have. We were on the 3rd floor and our view was of rooftops so try to get 4th floor or higher for view of Kiyomizu-dera Temple on hill across the way. The rooftop terrace also has a great view but they make their guests pay a fee go up there at night. That was super off-putting considering the price point of the rooms. The area is central but super busy. The street behind the hotel on the river is charming.

Everything - especially the private onsen in our room, the little balcony yo sit and watch Kyoto, the quality of the room, the location, the politeness and attentiveness of the staff, the breakfast was an event in itself with excellent service,

The quality of the fee drinks in happy hour on the roof terrace was poor. No proper spirits everything came on tap, need better wines etc for this top top level of hotel I would have expected better. View was wonderful though!

The whole place is exceptional, from the staff greeting you, to the spacious room, to the wonderful hot spring, this was hands down the best hotel i’ve ever stayed in

The staff and hotel room were exceptional. Wonderful views over Kyoto from the rooms & especially the roof top bar - dress up warm if it is chilly, or wet! There is no shelter but there are hot spring foot baths! Having a private spring fed bath directly off our bathroom - effectively on our balcony was a real luxury - facing out across the mountains you could admire the view or keep the screens closed for complete privacy.

Would have been brilliant to have room service but a small gripe with so many restaurants and shops close by.

Exquisite Onsen hotel and spa just outside old town Kyoto, impeccable staff , impeccable everything . The tasting menu with matching sake was fabulous also !!

So quiet, considering it was in the heart of Kyoto! The “guests only” side exit/entry was so convenient and just one of the many special touches. The roof terrace with the amazing view, free drinks in the evening and hot springs foot bath was another unique and wonderful amenity. The hot spring soak tub in our room was great with the same mountain view and cool air balancing the onsen. The staff were all so friendly and professional. Kaiseki breakfast was also so special!

Since we were there for 5 days, the western breakfast felt limited whereas the Japanese breakfast (which I couldn’t partake due to my allergies) was outstanding

i think everyone should treat themselves to a private onsen experience at least once in their lives and this hotel is perfect for it. you get peace and privacy in the hotel but you also get to enjoy the bustling area of Kawaramachi. rooms were also fully fitted with all the amenities you’d ever need! i’d definitely come back here if i have the means again (:

Incredible stay - we opted for a room with a private onsen and it was totally worth it after long days at Nara and hiking Fushimi Inari. The staff was incredibly helpful and showed us all of the facilities including the foot bath on the roof. Location is perfect, between two train lines and we were able to easily travel to everywhere we wanted to go. Highly recommend Soraniwa Terrace to anyone traveling to Kyoto!

The location is outstanding near subway station as well as buss stations. Beautiful canal behind hotel as well as centrally located for Gion, shopping and many wonderful restaurants in area. The in room open air onsen was worth the upgrade. They have a free mini bar in room as well as free happy hour on rooftop where you can soak your feet. The included breakfast was a Japanese style breakfast which was interesting to try if you haven’t before, but may not be to everyone’s taste. The staff was exceptional. There is also a coin operated washer and dryer in basement that was 300 yen wash and 100 yen for every 15 minutes of drying time.

清水寺や八坂の塔等の景色が望め部屋に温泉の露天風呂があり、夕食朝食共に美味しく、そこで接客してくれたインドネシア人の女性が笑顔が素適で日本語も上手くて接客もとても丁寧で素晴らしかったです。又、着物姿の方も優しい対応で好感が持てました。

別邸は専用エレベーターもあり、9階受付での対応も良かったですし、 部屋まで案内してくれた女性も色々な質問にしっかり答えてくれて良かったのですが、別邸受付の中央で座っていた50代くらいの女性はテキパキと外国人に対応されていましたが、私達に対しては笑顔や会釈も無く少々感じが悪いなと思えました。又、別邸から大浴場に行く時は近くのエレベーターだと別邸受付ロビーや一般室？の受付前を通らないといけなくて多少気が引けるとも感じました。

Everything the room, the view and the service! I been to Kyoto 5 times stayed in 7 different hotels and this is simply the best! I wish this hidden Gem continue to maintain its service but I wish that the people that come here will respect their culture and take good care of the staff and the hotel. I will be back soon:)

The private onsen in the room was spectacular and a highlight of our whole Japan trip. Such a great way to unwind and slow down. There’s coffee and popsicles all day, and a great rooftop bar even in December with a warm foot soak. The hotel’s location was great! Easy to walk to historic and cultural sights as well as great shopping areas. There is a can stand right out front as well as a nearby train station. Healthy grocery store across the street, and so many great restaurants really close by. The staff was wonderful as well. Definitely stay at the Bettei!

スタッフの方がとても親切！！ お部屋はそんなに広くないのですがboseのBluetoothスピーカー、キヌージョのドライヤー、simple humanのミラーなど、備品も素晴らしく快適でした。 お部屋のお風呂は半露天でとても気持ちいいです。 床暖房がついているので冬でも安心して入れます。 夕食は1階レストランでいただいたのですが、とても美味しくて大満足でした。
