Sky Garden Ella

We spent 5 nights at Sky Garden Ella and couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. Thushara and Shaani welcomed us like family doing everything in their power to make our stay memorable. Breakfast was delicious, the room is spacious, and it's an easy walk to town, Little Adams Peak, and the Nine Arch Bridge. We absolutely loved it here. If you’re looking for a wonderful homestay in Ella, this is the place to be.

We loved the location. Private and stunning garden, great proximity in Ella. Really close to Adams Peak and walk to Nine Arches.

We were warmly welcomed by this kind family and felt instantly at home. The accommodation was a dream: large, windows, a clean and beautifully space, and a comfortable bed. Outside, a lovely outdoor area with cozy bean bags offered the perfect spot to unwind. In the afternoon we relaxed on the peaceful terrace. With a cup of tea in hand, we watched squirrels and birds darting through the garden and the surrounding trees. The accommodation is situated just a short distance outside the center of Ella. From here, you can explore some of Ella’s attractions on foot, including Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adam’s Peak, and Ella Rock. Both breakfast and dinner were not only delicious but also served in generous portions that left nothing to be desired. A highlight was the cooking class with the Mum and her daughter. We learned to prepare traditional dishes and had so much fun doing it! The tuk-tuk ride with the Dad to a hidden waterfall with natural swimming spots was another unforgettable experience. In short: we had a great time and enjoyed every single minute.

Hospitality of owners, cleanness, located near pathways to the Little Adam's peak and Nine Arches Bridge, also from restaurants, bars, spa salons and shops. Rooms were very clean, breakfast was amazing, thanks a lot for owners who were very attentive and kind!

Our stay was truly wonderful. The family was incredibly welcoming and heartwarming, always ready to help with anything we needed. The host even took us to a (not so) nearby waterfall and tea plantation. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful every morning. The location couldn’t have been better - just a few minutes from the Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak, And of course, we can’t forget their lovely dog, who made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, a perfect combination of hospitality, comfort, and local charm.

This property is just on the outskirts of Ella, only a few minutes walk in to the centre of town. A good location to do local hikes and access to the train station.

Sky Garden betreibt eine sehr, sehr nette Familie, die u.a. Kochkurse anbietet. Wir sind zwar keine Köche und haben das Angebot nicht in Anspruch genommen, ABER aufgrund von uns aufgetischtem Essen, erlaube ich mir diesen Kochkurs wärmstens zu empfehlen. :D Das Essen war einfach und restlos köstlich. Wir haben den Wäscheservice genutzt - alles prima! Das Zimmer war geräumig, sauber, mit bequemem Bett und einer schönen Terasse mit Tisch, Stühlen, 2 modernen Liegesäcken (super bequem) und einem Wasserkocher (Tee, Kaffee, Zucker). Einige hundert Meter von Little Adam's Peak und ebenso nicht weit von der Nine Arche Bridge entfernt. Der Herr des Hauses hat einen Tuk-Tuk, mit dem er uns zum Bahnhof gefahren hat. Er wollte kein Geld dafür, weil wir Gäste in seinem Haus waren. Er hat es nur angenommen, weil wir darauf bestanden haben. Der Aufenthalt hat uns sehr gefallen. Liebe Betreiber, wir wünschen Ihnen und Ihren Töchtern alles Gute und hoffen, dass Ihre ältere Tochter nun die staatliche Krankenschwester ist!

Beautiful homestay with lovely family. They were so kind and nothing was too much trouble. Room was spotless as was the whole home. Tranquil setting amongst palm trees yet only 2 mins to restaurants. They even grew their own tea. Breakfast was really good too. I wasn't too well at the time and they really looked after me. We loved it here!

the family in this home stay are the friendliest we have met .They catered for all our needs , they offer tuk tuk service and have a excellent cooking class, they also provide laundry service which at a great price if ever we return to Ella we would stay with this family again

Very close to the places I wanted to hike, and just outside of town, so much quieter. I ate at Simple Hit, massage Ayubo, sunset at Ella Flower cafe.

As there is no AC , the room has moisture inside and as I have asthma it effected me a lot. If there was a little window it would be great to have a fresh air.

Best family guest house of all Sri Lanka. We have had the best breakfast of all our trip at their home, this family is enchanting, very nice and welcoming. The location is perfect to visit Little Adams Peak and Nine Arches Bridge at Ella. Highly recommended, you will not regret this stay!!

Wish we had stayed there more nights.

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved the hosts and the location. The rooms and bathroom are large and spotlessly clean, the terrace has wonderful views and the location is close enough to Ella central town to be convenient but without the noise from the main strip. Most importantly, the hosts were incredibly welcoming, professional and generous in sharing their knowledge of the area. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful and all home-cooked. I hope one day we can return.

Famiglia molto accogliente, simpatica e disponibile. La posizione è centrale tra i sentieri di Little Adams Peak e Nine Arch. Vicino ci sono diversi ristoranti e caffè, il centro del paese non è distante ma conviene farsi dare un passaggio in tuktuk la sera.

Un consiglio che voglio dare alla famiglia, se possibile mettere un cartello a livello strada per trovarlo facilmente. Altro consiglio un appendiabiti o un piccolo armadio sarebbe comodo in camera

Krásné rodinné bydlení, čisté v přírodě a velmi tiché, velká snídaně - člověk si mohl vybrat, co by rád k snídani. Ideální lokalita na ninearch bridge a Little Adam's peek. Do centra města se dá buď dojít pěšky (10 minut) nebo tuktukem za 500 rupií 3 minuty, majitel nám zařídil levné taxi do další destinace, mají doma velmi hodného psa, nejdříve se zeptali, zda máme rádi psy, pokud vám pes vadí, zůstane u rodiny na zahradě, takže se bát nemusíte. My jsme si psa velmi užívali, je přátelský stejně jako celá rodina, určitě bychom se vrátili.

Locatie voor het startpunt van little Adams peak en de nine arch bridge was op een paar 100 meter lopen. Iets duurder, maar sevice was heel goed. Lieve hond die regelmatig een rondje maakt bij de gasten. Ontbijt was heerlijk.

Je zit wat verder van de vele restaurants af. Wij wisten dit, maar wilde niet in de drukte van het centrum zitten. Wij waren er dus blij mee.

Es war einfach super! Sky Garden liegt wunderschön im Garten mit einer Hängematte zwischen Palmen. Einfach herrlich um nach einem ereignisreichen Tag in Ella und Umgebung zu entspannen. Zu Fuß ist man schnell bei der Nine Arches Bridge und beim Little Adam's Peak. Thushara und seine Familie haben die Zimmer toll eingerichtet. Es gibt viele Ablagemöglichkeiten und ein tolles sehr großes Bett mit vielen Kissen. Das Zimmer und das Bad waren unglaublich sauber, man hat sich direkt wohl gefühlt. Seine Frau Kusum und die Töchter Shaani und Gayani haben jeden Morgen ein unglaublich leckeres Frühstück serviert. Immer mit viel Obst, frischen Säften und täglich wechselnden einheimischen Speisen. Die vier sind sehr herzlich und haben uns toll bei unseren Fragen zur Umgebung unterstützt. Mit Thushara haben wir einen Tagesausflug zum Diyaluma Wasserfall gemacht. Er hat uns mit seinem Tuktuk dorthin gefahren und ist dann mit uns zum etwas verstecken Wasserfall gegangen. Es war der Höhepunkt von unserer Sri Lanka Reise am und im Wasserfall zu sein! Der Laundry Service war auch richtig gut. Wir waren 4 Nächte im Sky Garden und wären noch gerne viel länger geblieben. Wir können nur Gutes über Thushara und seine Familie und über Sky Garden sagen und empfehlen es jedem, der nach Ella kommt.

Chambres élégantes, propres, literie hyper confortable, moustiquaire (il fait frais la nuit à Ella, pas besoin de climatisation). Le jardin est magnifique, l’emplacement est idéal à Ella car à l’écart de l’agitation (Ella est très agitée), proche des points touristiques (2 mn du Little adams pick) et quelques bons restaurants proches. La famille est adorable, très gentille et aidante. Pour moi c’est le meilleur petit déjeuner du séjour.

Hvis du vil have et skønt, lille privat sted i Ella, så er Sky Garden stedet! Familien forkæler dig med en fantastisk Sri Lankansk morgenmad, og de er i det hele taget usædvanligt søde og hjælpsomme. Værelserne er store. Der er en lille terrasse med et bord, sækkestole og alt er omgivet af grønne planter. Her er skyggefuldt og køligt. Familien ejer en Tuk Tuk, så vil man køres et sted hen, så er de også behjælpeligt med dette. Vi kan kun give de bedste anbefalinger til dette lille, fine sted.

Der er intet, vi ikke kunne lide, men man skal være opmærksom på, at der er trapper op til Sky Garden, og at man skal gå ca. 8 min ind til byen. Her går man forbi mange restauranter

Such a lovely family run place. They were so nice. Breakfast great. They ran us around in their own TukTuk to wherever we wanted. Room basic but fine. Great value

This was one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka! Only 20 mins walk from the train station. The host family is absolutely lovely, especially their daughter Shani who was dutifully in charge of our hospitality during our stay. Sri Lankan breakfasts were absolutely delicious, great location just out of the main drag but 15 mins walk to all the shops/restaurants etc on the main road. Only 3 min walk to the trailhead of both Nine Arches bridge and Little Adams Peak. We had a great stay and would love to stay again. We were on our honeymoon and let them know in advance and they made some beautiful floral bouquets from the garden for our room with their well wishes for our marriage. They also organised transport to out next accommodation on the coast for a very reasonable price.

Little bit of street noise came through into the room but this was generally pretty minimal after 10-11pm.

This Homestay is absolutely stunning and words can’t express how welcoming and heartwarming the family is😊 they serve a big local breakfast every morning which is very delicious. They also have their own tea in the garden that I can also recommend. The room is big and very clean. The father built many things of the Homestay himself with lovely details. It’s very cozy! They even took care of our laundry and have a cute dog. The location is perfect to reach 9 arch bridge (15 minute walk) and little Adam’s Peak (25 minute hike). We also loved that it’s not on the busy noisy main road and it’s only a 10 minute walk in to the Center of Ella. This was the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka and can highly recommend it. This is a lovely family run home stay ,so very welcoming the family are lovely it’s also very comfortable. It’s in a convenient location away from the main town of Ella but easily walkable. Its central to visit the 9 Arches bridge also The breakfast was very good with lots of choice .

My only problem was the access to the property which is up several stairs .

Amazing stay in Sky Garden Ella. Such a lovely family, who only want to take care of you during the stay. Their recommendations of what to do each day was super. The location to Little Adams Peak, Nine Arches Bridge and the town of Ella was so convenient. They even had a safe place to park our Tuk Tuk. The homemade breakfasts each morning were delicious. Definitely the best Rotti we had. Also the beds were heaven! Super comfy

Ella Sky Garden, maybe our favourite place. Its a 2 room hotel, understand this. Its run by the most friendly family ever. The owner, his wife and their two daughters are keen to talk to you in English sinve they are learning the language better. Breakfast is Sri Lankan eggs and pancakes, delicious. The room has no AC but a fan, and a mosquito net. You may start without the blanked but find yourself covered when you wake up. Ella lies at 1000m so the nights are cool. The room is situated at the end of a steep stairs and in a lush jungle garden.

The accommodation was wonderful—our host, a skilled carpenter, built everything himself, from the windows to the beds, all pure craftsmanship! The host family was incredibly sweet and made us feel at home. A special thanks to the daughters for serving our meals. Truly a fantastic family!

The couple running the place were incredibly kind, providing amazing service throughout my stay. They even went the extra mile by packing my breakfast for the train and personally dropping me off at the station. The location is also excellent—close to the main attractions and conveniently near the town center.

The place felt a bit too damp for my liking, and the shower pressure was somewhat low.

Stunning! This was my favourite homestay in Sri Lanka. From the modern and immaculately clean rooms with mosquito nets, to the loan umbrella thoughtfully left out front that I used to climb Little Adam's Peak, to the french press coffee and the huge and delicious breakfasts, to the squirrel playing in the trees a metre away, everything was perfect. Its a 10min stroll from the busy main road, and the start of little adam's peak (25mins to top) and 9 arches Bridge (7mins to get there) are suuuuper close, dont miss either of these. Thanks mr Thushara and family!

Exceptionally clean, comfortable and well located place run by a really friendly couple with their daughter helping out too. Very generous hosts, e.g a very filling breakfast, helping arrange onward transport. Lots of local restaurants nearby. It's a 20 minute walk to central Ella, but nice to be a little away from it. Sky Garden Ella is literally 5 minute walk from start of trails to Little Adam's Peak and Nine Arches Bridge. Would happily return and recommend.

If you're looking for accommodation in Ella that is both private but also makes you feel part of the family, look no further. Thashara was responsive from the day of arrival, organising to pick me up in his tuk-tuk from the train station. The room was so clean and lovely, with large very comfy bed, luggage store and beauty corner (with mirror and hairdryer). The breakfast was absolutely incredible (see photo) serves by Thashara's lovely daughter on the terrace of the room overlooking their beautiful gardens. The location is incredible, in the quieter section of town (but still plenty of restaurant choices for dinner and only 15mins walk into the main section of town) and 2min walk to the trailheads for both little Adams peak and nine arches bridge. A perfect base for your travels - look no further than Sky Garden.

Absolutely nothing, was perfect!

It’s a small family run place with just 2 rooms , the owner Tushara is helpful and nice but has no one else to help him. The food prepared and served is very very good and was one of our best meals in Sri Lanka. Helpful nice people

1. Too many stairs and steps 2. No help for luggage when we checked out coz the owner was away and was painful for us to bring our stuff down 3. gets noisy as it’s close to the road, but that’s with most places in Ella

Absolutely the best accomodation, hosts and breakfast in Sri Lanka!!! Fabulous location just out of the main st of Ella, 50 m to nine arches trail head. Beautifully appointed rooms, excellent value. Cannot recommend enough!

This accommodation is particularly characterized by the warm and loving nature of the host family! They always looked after our well-being, organized everything and made the stay something special! Very nice complex with lots of space and privacy! Every day he brought us breakfast - it was every different and very delicious! The time we could decide. The location of the accommodation ist perfect. We did everything by foot: nine Arche Bridge, Ella rock, Little adams Peak… For Sri Lanka it is a high standard. Very clean and lovely! The guestfather was such a lovely man!! Thanks!

Sky Garden is as described - its above the main road into and out of Ella. It's a family run business, the whole family are lovely and very welcoming - Shani was especially helpful and keen to practice her English. The room was comfortable, surrounded by a beautiful lush green garden and very close to both Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adams Peak. The breakfast was exceptional and just ket coming!

It is very easy to drive past the entrance to Sky Garden (especially in the dark) and it is quite a steep climb up to the house itself.

Sky Garden was absolutely perfect in every way. My room was lovely and comfortable with a nice little patio in front for relaxing and enjoying breakfast amongst the jungle scenery. The signature Sri Lankan breakfasts (hoppers, pol roti, Sri lankan pancakes, fresh fruit, tea, etc. were varied and excellent. Most amazing is the family that runs the facility. They went out of their way to make my stay amazing by helping me to coordinate activities, asking what foods I liked for breakfast, providing advice, asking about my days, helping me to learn more Sinhala language skills, and so much more. They also have a nice dog Rocky !

There was nothing that I did not like.

Please do yourself a favour and stay at this guesthouse, it’s great! The location is perfect for must-do hikes to Little Adam’s Peak and Nine Arches, and you're also slightly out of the chaos of the main street in Ella but it’s easily accessible within a 15-minute stroll. The room has everything you need and the breakfast is one of the best I’ve had. What really stands out at this place though is the host family. They go out of their way to make you feel at home, help you with any request and proactively share advice and tips for exploring Ella and its surrounds. I’ll deifinitely be staying here next time I visit Ella!

We had a large room with our private bathroom and patio. The host is friendly and very helpful. We asked her to prepare their home cooked dinner for us during our stay and it was delicious. The BnB is also located very near to the path that leads to little Adam’s peak. The hike up took us about 30 minutes and it is a must visit if you are in Ella. Ella’s temperature is nice, temperature was about 25degrees during the day and dropped to 16 in the wee morning. Do note that the district has some electricity shut down in the afternoon so best to be outdoor during that period.

This is the perfect place to stay when visiting Ella. It is a 10-minute walk outside the main town centre but still close to everything without dealing with the noise. Little Adam’s Peak and Nine Arches Bridge are next door, which was my primary motivation for booking this accommodation. But I received so much more in return. My room was spotless and came with a huge bed, mosquito net, mirror, side table, wall shelves, and a small desk and stool. WiFi is available. The bathroom is immaculate and has hot water with modern fixtures. After the second day, my room was cleaned, and a new towel and toilet paper roll were provided. I also had a lovely private terrace with a table and two chairs that looked out onto the property garden - I felt like I was in a treehouse! A delicious breakfast was served every morning with tea, juice, fruits, and various rotating dishes. The owners treated me like part of the family, and they were so kind and caring during the three nights I spent here. They always offered their help and even supported me in making some decisions about my plans based on what was feasible - I really valued their opinion. As a solo female traveller, I felt extremely safe and looked after. Highly recommend!

The room and bed were slightly damp, given Ella's high humidity and general weather patterns. But that’s something all accommodations there have to deal with, so it’s not specific to Sky Garden. I found that keeping the fan on at night helped reduce room moisture.

The family looked after us beautifully and made us wonderful breakfasts. They were all very friendly and eager to help if ideas or activities were requested.

Issues with hot water, and the room remained not cleaned after the initial night, with no towel exchange despite their dampness due to the humid climate. While our experience was acceptable, in comparison to other properties in Sri Lanka the value for money could be improved.

What luck that we found Ella Sky Garden! After our original accommodation cancelled then hiked up the price to rebook we found this wonderful hidden gem. Tucked away from the Main Street but with in a 15-20 walk we had a great 2 nights sleep on the softest mattress we have come across in Sri Lanka! Little Adam’s peak and the nine arch bridge are also both within a 20-30 minute walk and there are plenty of small shops, cafes and restaurants a stroll away if you don’t fancy the main strip. There are plenty of Tuk Tuks along the road if you would prefer not to walk however we enjoyed the adventure and the directions given by the host were spot on! Breakfast was huge and served with in our opinion the best tea in Sri Lanka!! If we hadn’t had a train to Kandy booked we would have stayed here longer, the host was kind enough to take us to the station for our early train with a packed breakfast to go. We wish this family all the success and happiness and both feel blessed to have been welcomed into their home.

So far the cleanest room in Sri Lanka and our hosts made it a home.... Very comfy bed, beautiful surrounding and close to Little Adam's Peak and Nine-Arch-Bridge But we definitely have to highlight our hosts who read every wish from our lips, even if we weren't aware of them... - Sri Lankan breakfast was incredibly tasty and we could decide on our favorites, on restaurant status or above - took us to train Station early morning and prepared lunch boxes - we asked where to buy Laulu, as we couldn't find this fruit and the next day, he handed it to us - even for Sri Lanka superfriendly

The pictures did not meet my expectations. The staff could barely understand a word of English. There is no bath tub in the room which is what I had hoped for when I made my booking, false advertising. I booked for 4 nights ended up Cancelling 3 nights and went somewhere else which was much nicer. It was a little far out of town for me too.

Other than the tiny room, there is nothing else on the property you can relax into. The owners house is adjoining and I didn't feel comfortable. There was a killer dog on site which scared me to death with its aggressive behaviour.

This has been the best stay in our 15 day trip to Sri Lanka. Our guest Thushara and his family were the friendliest people we have met. They have a great heart and are always there to help. The breakfast is just unbelievable and the room is big and cozy - by the way, the bed is by far the most confortable one we have used in our trip. Very nice location close to spots like Adam's Peak and Nine Arches. You will not regret!

The best home stay one might have in Sri Lanka. The family is incredibly welcoming and generous, the room is immaculate cozy and quiet, and the yard is a peaceful zen garden of well arranged plants. High speed Wi-Fi.A prime location within easy walking distance of a few different hikes and the Main Street of Ella town. The Home cooked dinners and breakfasts were scrumptious and healthy meals that you feel good after you eat. The family really takes care of their guests and It’s easy to feel right at home here.I would highly recommend staying here.

This was the best homestay I had whilst travelling in Sri Lanka. The family of Thuspara was warm hearted, very welcoming making my stay feeling like home. Humble and attentive. Dinner with the family was a very authentic rice and curry - breakfast sufficient and delicious. The first black tea I was able to drink <3 Room and bathroom clean, inviting porch and beautiful garden. USB plug for charging your electronic devices. Light dimming possible😍 Last but not least I did not get mosquito bites 👌

I went there in rainy season so my clothing got wet and couldn't dry at all but moisture in the rooms applies actually to all accommodation in Sri Lanka. I was able to use the hair dryer at the end which was sufficient👌
