Handy for everything and everything you needed.
Wi fi wasn't the best but it didn't spoil our stay.
In posizione centrale, comodissimo per spostarti e visitare la città !!host super gentile
Bagno in comune per una famiglia e’ poco comodo
Lovely welcome pack Great location Bonus access to the kitchen and lounge Comfy bed Well stocked bathrooms Fully recommended
It would be helpful to have constructions for the coffee machine and projector. A welcome pack explaining how the kitchen works ie what can be used, we were a little confused by the generous offerings. Details for the key lick to be sent in advance of the visit - not a buggy we were sent these once we notified the host of our arrival. Great stay will definitely return
Mitt i centrum med närheten till allt!
In the very centre of the city - all attractions within easy walking distance. The manager/owner - Sharon - is very friendly and provides lots of food and drinks for the guests use.
Due to central location there was some noise has deliveries arrived at nearby businesses in the morning.
The host was lovely and the location is very ideal! The room was very lovely and set up better than your bog standard hotel! The price was very reasonable, especially for chester prices so will definitely be coming back again in the future!!
Some of the vents were in need of a little dusting but apart from that it was quite clean.
Lovely stay. Very central.
No batteries in TV so I couldn't watch TV. Also I would have appreciated more description of how to get to place. It wasn't obvious that it was right in the middle of the shopping centre. But it was very comfortable.
everything ,stayed here a lot of times now ,love it
Nothing to dislike
Fabulous location right in the city. Breakfast food and drink provided in the kitchen area was fantastic.
It wasn't clear to me that the room was not en suite. The shared bathroom was in a bit of disrepair. We did not use the shower.
Great location Nice attention (skincare product, beverage)
Could be clearer that this is a shared bathroom when we book. This explains the low price so still a good bargain for one night. I would have preferred the sofa bed for the third guest to be made when we arrived, especially as we didn't have enough bedsheets.
A great place to stay, very central and easy to access. Lovely room to sleep in, kitchen and sitting area. Some extra small gifts waiting for you on the towel on your bed. A great host too
Lovely room, warm friendly accommodating owner. Excellent kitchen facilities and food and beverage selection. Great location
The bathroom is shared but we were aware of that when booking.
I really wanted to like Jean’s place much more than I actually did. The location is superb — if you have no issues with stairs, you really cannot ask for a better location, right in the heart of the city centre. I booked two nights for myself and my 10-year-old daughter for a mum-and-daughter city break. Communication through Booking.com was excellent. I messaged ahead to explain the purpose of our trip and asked whether we could drop our bags off slightly earlier than check-in, and Sharon responded immediately and was very accommodating. We were also very kindly given an early check-in at no additional cost, which I really appreciated. We received the key-box codes and room allocation the day before arrival, so everything was very straightforward. We arrived by train and walked around 25 minutes from the station with our small backpacks. It was an exceptionally hot August day and, by the time we arrived, we were tired, hot and thirsty and really just wanted to get our bags down and go and find some food. It is important to be clear that this is not a hotel. It is a homestay, and you are staying in somebody’s home. The guest bedrooms are on the second and third floors, with a shared bathroom between the four guest rooms. There are a lot of stairs, so this is definitely something to bear in mind when booking. Our initial welcome was friendly, but unfortunately the check-in experience took the shine off things for us. Sharon spent a considerable amount of time talking about cancellations from previous guests, how frustrated she was with them, and complaining about people who had left bad reviews. We were standing at the top of the stairs in the heat with our bags, with my 10-year-old daughter excited about our little trip, and I repeatedly explained that we really just wanted to drop our bags off and head out for some food.
Unfortunately, the shared bathroom was the biggest issue for us. I was completely aware when booking that the bathroom would be shared, and I had absolutely no problem with that. The issue was the condition and cleanliness of it. There were numerous products belonging to other people, and the bathroom appeared poorly maintained. The trim around the bath was coming away, there were bits of plaster on the floor, the grouting was in poor condition and there was visible dirt and dust around the pipes, corners and edges. The bathroom fittings generally looked tired and in need of significant attention. There was also no bath mat inside the shower area, which made the floor extremely slippery. I actually got into the shower with my daughter because I was concerned that she might slip. We only used the shower because we needed to, and it wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience. There was a hand towel left in the bathroom, but given that it was a shared facility, we didn’t feel comfortable using it. For me, this bathroom really needs to be brought up to a much better standard before the property is marketed to paying guests. I understand that this is a no-frills homestay, and I wasn’t expecting luxury, but cleanliness, maintenance and basic bathroom safety should be a given. One of the biggest problems for us came when we returned from our evening meal, looking forward to getting settled and watching a film. Someone had been cooking fish or kippers in the communal kitchen and the smell had permeated the entire building. It was extremely strong and unpleasant, and unfortunately there was little we could do about it. Sadly, we wouldn’t stay again and I wouldn’t recommend it for a city break unless you are specifically looking for very basic, no-frills accommodation and are comfortable staying in someone’s home with shared facilities. The location is genuinely excellent, and the communication and flexibility around check-in were very good.
Good location
Shared bathroom 🥴
The host was extremely welcoming, warm-hearted, and easy to communicate with, making me feel right at home. Room 3 was very spacious and bright, featuring two large windows overlooking Watergate Street, a comfortable bed, multiple power sockets, and a smart TV that was great for watching travel videos while planning my trip. I also really appreciated the thoughtful amenities like skincare/eye masks, toiletries, tea/kettle setup, and the complimentary snacks and fridge access in the kitchen.
The bedroom door didn't lock, though I felt safe enough that it wasn't a major issue for me during my stay. I also had trouble turning on the bathroom lights (pull-string main light and mirror light), which might have been a minor malfunction or trick.
Location was excellent, host was fantastic, room was great, sofa bed slightly uncomfortable but to be expected I suppose, would definitely stay again.
stayed here several times ,we love ,location is very good ,in the centre we are going back in a few weeks time ,
nothing to dislike ,everything was brilliant
Perfect location, straight to the centre but close to parking.
I really wanted to like this place at the price but in my view room 3 is not rentable. Pros - nice extras on bed. Extra pillows. Nice towels . Extra bedding. Good location. Effort put in but not constantly Why is room 2 so nice compared to my room
Negatives for room 3 Bits on floor . Not hoovered . Room checks? Bits on both protectors. Horrible! Slept on top of bed. old rug.old flat pack furniture WiFi password not in room or on check in booking message. No phone signal ee on phone in room. Beds rock hard. Wi for docker nearly cooked my mobile and did not charge. TV not tuned in correctly and you have to dock to each channel on your phone. TV does not face either bed. Horrible coffee , brews 4 in a bag. Terrible painting and blending above door . Dust at back of door. I suggest the owner gets friends to check jnto room 3 and share there views. I could of just about looked past these issues at 50 pounds but Bar outside open till 1pm. Got 4 sleep. Very nosey Light shines into room from landing and shared bathroom as not blacked out properly. This room should not be leased out at any price untill a major refit and rethink, plus warnings about bar. I also question the safety of the docker I hated the complete remote experience and detachment to the business. Other old guest toilettes left in bath room. Again these need a wipe down and pipework need a lick of paint. Felt more like a hostel experience for room 3. or I had checked into a friend's room who had put you up as a favour In some areas the cleaning and maintenance is not acceptable for a bed and breakfast. Personally I like a refund.
Fab location within old city walls
Not accessible for mobility needs. Lots of stair climbing.
Location was brilliant everything was spot on wonderful

Very cozy .bed vomfy.nice terrace to sit out in in room 4 .a lovely stay
Tv had no signal at all so couldnt watch anything .wich was a shame beause went for a relax so didnt go out so .and wifi didnt work in room so had to keep going down stairs to get my messages. Ive stayed here many times and never had problem so might of just been an EE and tv error in the area xxxx deffo stay again tho if wifi fixed or tv xx
Such a cute little setup, super comfy bed soft towels and I loved the projector in the room, me and my partner have been contemplating a projector in our bedroom at home and this was awesome. Little pampering bits left on the bed was a cute touch and felt more personal. Fully stocked mini fridge was a very nice surprise to see. And the fresh bakery goods was a life saver in the early morning! Our host Shaz was so welcoming it’s one of the first times I’ve ever felt so welcomed into a hotel or bed and breakfast time deal.
No comments! I got what I paid for and was very happy with it
Lovely friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was on the top floor, lovely views from the balcony of Chester. Lovely clean comfortable bed, slept well. Definitely stay again
Shared Bathroom, on the floor below.
Brilliant location. Beautiful, clean accommodation. Fantastic host. ☺️
Friendly welcome and excellent location in the famous Rows, the elevated galleries surrounding the junction of Watergate and Eastgate within the old city walls. Excellent value for money.
Mobility issues inevitably cannot be catered for. Access by stairway only.
Very nice rooms
Nothing
I would highly recommend this accommodation. Sharon thought of everything. Good host
The only issue for me was I had windows open as it was hot, the street noise was ongoing till early hours.
The rooms were spacious. Everything was clean. Located in a convenient place. Host was literally like a mum, kind, caring & made us all feel so comfortable and welcome.

Sharon is on-call 24/7 on site so could help (and did with myself!) if anything goes wrong. Very easy to reach - just off the high street. Best of both: amenities of a home, service of a hotel. Large room.
Room was clean and perfect for small families. There’s a projector in the room my son loves it! Sharon was a fantastic host, would recommend others to stay here!
The host was friendly and very attentive looking after us above and beyond what you would expect.. The room was clean and very well equipped with everything you could need. The location was phenomenal with everything right at your door step.
I arrived at 11.00 am as was going to the races and knew the room wasn’t ready but wanted to drop off my change of clothes/bag. Sharon the host met me as I arrived and she said she would put my bag in my room. She showed me where my room key would be and was extremely pleasant. The location is top drawer in the centre of Chester. The bed was very comfy and the kitchen was stocked with bread, croissants, crisps, chocolate, fridge had bacon, sausage and eggs to use if you wanted. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very spacious. I stayed in room 3 the twin room. Next time in Chester I would book here every time. Thanks Sharon x
Loved its location and also Sharon sorted our room first so we could check in a little earlier due to attending a wedding which was so lovely. Bed was comfortable.
Shared bathroom wasn’t clean upon arrival and we were the first guests there. There were cables on view in the room and also a hole in the wall. Could also do with a few hangers in the wardrobes.
Location
Breakfast had to be cooked / prepared by guests
Loved everything about Jean's place.Comfortale clean great location with the cherry on the 🎩 being Sharon the wonderful host also little cute little Willis.
Nothing not to like
I liked it all but the best was the balcony
None
It is in a very convenient location
The room lacked its own toilet and was not clean. Also, the bed was very noisy, and the mattress was very soft.
location is fantastic, right in the centre of town on the main highstreet. Rooms are really nice too.
Very dusty. There was a fan on the bed side table that was caked in dust and I had to put it inside the wardrobe. The shower room needs a bit of attention too. The plastic shell around the bath was falling off, the light didn't work so we had to use our phone torches and the shelves where the toiletries sit needed a good clean.
Really friendly host who let us keep the room for a late check out after running the half marathon. Definitely recommend
Nothing
Cheap but ultimately not suitable to stay at. The bathroom is not ‘private’ it is shared with 3 other rooms, there was no light in the bathroom - what was supposed to be a romantic getaway began with me holding a torch light for my partner to shower by. Advertised as a bed & breakfast - the breakfast in question was ‘there’s short dated bacon in the fridge help yourself.’ There were cobwebs and dust around the room, dangling wires from the telly sat on top of the radiator, no sides to unpack a case on so our stuff was just strewn across the floor. The host was aware the bathroom light was broken prior to our stay and did not inform us until we arrived and questioned if so we couldn’t cancel. After staying one night we had to leave and find other accommodation. The host hastled us whilst on our holiday on the 12th of may to call round booking.com to try and cancel the booking stating that she couldn’t, which since contacting booking.com we have found out is not true. We are now in dispute to get our money back and the host is ignoring both ourselves and booking.com. Booking.com insist they can do nothing to help currently despite endorsing this hotel on their site, I’ve had to file a charge dispute with my bank.
I was allowed a late check-out so I could come back and have a shower after my race
The owner was abroad so I received a message a couple of days prior informing me of my room number and the code for the key safe. Upon arriving then, there was a non-existent welcome with all the lights off. The location may be nice and central but the noise from the nightlife was ridiculous. I came for the Chester half marathon and wanted an early night so I could be fresh for the race. However, the noise from the revellers, live music below and zero soundproofing meant I had a terrible night's sleep. Jean's Place is advertised as a B&B on Booking.com, promising a superb breakfast. The reality? Nothing. I later read about the communal kitchen but there was no communication in this regard from the owner. To top it off, the shared bathroom light didn't work which the owner knew about but didn't bother to mention beforehand. When I messaged her about it, her response was 'I know, just had to put a temporary light in there til I can get an electrician. It's under cupboard in bathroom'. Well thanks for letting me know. And the temporary light didn't even work anyway. Not great value for money for £90. Safe to say I won't be staying again!
Everything
Location was great, property was clean and room was nicely made up.
Bathroom light was temperamental in the evening and I could not get it to work at all in the morning (showered by torch light). Property is self check-in/check-out set-up. Therefore, I wrote to the hostess (Shaz) after I left so that she could fix for the next guest, but my feedback was dismissed.
GREAT LOCATION! WELL STOCKED KITCHEN, BUT WAS UNSURE IF THE CONTENTS BELONGED TO THE OWNER???
NO TV, BUT WAS A LOW QUALITY DIGITAL PROJECTOR, BUT NO CLEAR WALL TO PROJECT ON WITHOUT COMPLETLY SWITCHING ROUNG THE LIVING SPACE! SHOWER ROOM NEEDS UPDATING HARD TO FIND! IF YOU DONT KNOW CHESTER AND THE ROWS
Lovely and clean nice comfy beds, nice and cosy place.
The property was in a fantastic location and the room was very clean.
It was not specified anywhere that it was a shared bathroom.
Clean, very comfortable bed, had room at rear and there was no noise at night. Bed linen was clean and soft. There was Bosch coffee machine ( I didn’t use it) and room had fridge and fans.
There was no TV, not an issue for me but some may not like this fact. Room isn't en-suite but like the lack of TV, not an issue for me.
Location
No bathroom
Amazing host! She was incredibly helpful, kind, and made the stay feel very comfortable and welcoming. Highly appreciated her support throughout. The location is perfect, with easy access to everything, and the view is absolutely stunning. I’d definitely recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable experience.
Everything was amazing. Surely be my first choice for my next trip. perfect location. walking distance from bus station and railway station .

Firstly Jeans place was so easy to find and the location couldn't be better. The host met us as we entered, she was friendly and welcoming, showed us around the communal kitchen which was well equipped and the lounge which looked very comfortable. We had room 4 which was the only room on the top floor and with the added bonus of a roof terrace with a table and chairs. Lovely, bright room with great storage and a comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities.
Absolutely nothing.
Very central Host very obliging
Great location, comfortable bed and good sized room. Good pre arrival communication
Not Appplicable
Fantastic location, Very welcoming host. Comfortable bed.
Shared toilet But was advertised as this
La pulizia e l'organizzazione. Esposizione tranquilla, si dorme bene.

Location was excellent. Comfy and clean.
Always better to have your own bathroom but the shared bathroom wasn’t an issue and the facilities were decent and
Great location and helpful host
Would have liked an ensuite bathroom
The location of this b&b was amazing. You open the door and you are right in the centre of the city. The host was lovely, very friendly and welcoming. I loved the little additions you get such as your towels, mini toothbrush, shower gel etc.
The room was a lot smaller than I expected and through no fault of the host I didn't realise it was a shared bathroom. I thought it was a hotel and it seemed more like an air b&b vibe, again this is an issue my side when researching. The balcony was weathered outside and wasn't appealing to be out there. The shared bathroom was a little weathered. The shower head was loose on the wall and wouldn't stay up. The mugs in the room that had the condiments in were not very clean and we had to rinse them out before using. The bed was super soft, but too soft for our liking but that is a preference for my self and my partner.
Very clean/cosy and extremely good value for money! Central location in city centre topped it all off.
Comfy and convenient

The bed was as soft as a cloud. I had great sleep here. The towels were so soft, I loved them. The Terrence, despite the poor weather, was still used and enjoyed! The shared bathrooms, kitchen and lounge area were clean and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.
The room was very spacious and clean ok no shower in the room but for the price still reasonable👍
The location was excellent plenty of places to eat and drink 👍
