Nelum Home stay

Nelum Homestay is the best example of a Homestay I have seen yet. The rooms are in a building which is attached to the family home and are clean and cosy. Nelum and her Family are always around and very friendly for any assistance without being to close. On Demand Nelum cooks typical Sri Lanka Dinner, which is worlds better, tastier, healthier and authentic than the Pizza and Burger Stuff they offer on the Main Road. Her Son can organize Taxi Transfers and Safari with Jeep. We did the Elephant Safari with him and saw every animal type in the Park there is. If I would go to Sigiriya again, I would not look for any other place to stay.

Nelum ci ha accolto con semplicità e calore, ci ha preparato una cena ottima e con modestia ci ha mostrato i batik che realizza lei .

Nelum ist eine super besondere Gastgeberin, die mit viel Herz den Aufenthalt wirklich besonders gemacht hat. Ich habe mich wie zu Hause gefühlt.

Die Gastfreundschaft von Nelum war überwältigend. Sie hat alles gemacht, damit es uns gut ging. Sie hat uns Tipps gegeben und uns über die Gegend informiert. Die Unterkunft und die Terrasse waren mit viel Liebe eingerichtet. Das WLAN funktionierte tipptopp.

Nelum, ein Herzensmensch! Wir fühlten uns geliebt und gut aufgehoben, bei ihr und ihrer Familie! Eine absolut schöne 'Homestay'-Erfahrung! Es war wunderschön auf ihrer Veranda zu sitzen, in der Ruhe und friedlichen Natur, mit neugierigen Affen ringsherum. Das Essen ob Frühstück oder Abendessen schmeckte vorzüglich und war sehr reichhaltig! Nelum organisierte auch Tuctuc's und Autos für unsere Fahrten, was sehr komfortabel war. Sie hat auch ein kleines Batikgeschäft und man kann ihr bei der Arbeit zuschauen. Wir können diesen authentischen Platz empfehlen und würden gerne wiederkommen! Vielen Dank liebe Nelum❤️

Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend! Es ist alles sehr liebevoll eingerichtet:) Für jegliche Fragen stehen sie gerne zu Verfügung außerdem organisierten sie uns die Fahrt zum Sonnenaufgang an den Pidurangala Rock und informierten uns auch über Safari Optionen und weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Nähe. Das Essen war sehr lecker! Sehr zu empfehlen!

Bella esperienza, come essere in famiglia. Tutti molto cortesi e disponibili, molto accoglienti. I due succhi d' arancia ghiacciato di benvenuto lì ricordo ancora ora. Felici di avere alloggiato da loro in mezzo alla natura. Il figlio ha un tuk tuk ed è sempre a disposizione. Colazione magnifica e abbiamo anche cenato da loro, cena buonissima preparata dalla proprietaria, abbondantissima. Consiglio vivamente.

Très bon accueil de Nelum et sa famille. Nous avons découvert sur place une possibilité de baignade très agréable et rafraîchissante dans un canal à deux pas de la maison.

Extremely friendly family in a hidden secret and beautiful space. Even though Nelum was not home, because of an accident her son managed our stay responsibly and took good care of us. The pure homestay experience!

Nelum and her family were very friendly and supportive. Nelum is a great cook. I enjoyed two delicious meals prepared by her. Isuru is a good tuktuk driver. I always felt very safe travelling with him. Around her house you have many trees. It's a bit a jungle feeling. I would definitely come back and stay with Nelum and her lovely family again. Nelum and her family were very attentif and took care of our needs they also help us to plan différents visits and activities. Nelum is lovely !

The food was delicious, her family was lovely including her older son for driving me to the one hike for 1000 and to Dambulla after for 1500. She was very kind and I appreciate the help with making my curry. Nelum made great breakfasts such as cocunut/millet roti with dal, fruit, and tea; which were included and a well priced dinner which was great too. She was flexible with what she made. The room has 2 fans to keep things cool.

At first, the family welcomes you warmly, makes you feel at home, and treats you like one of their own—only to hit you with an unexpected bill at the end. Always ASK FOR PRICES UPFRONT! Nelum doesn’t have a good level of English (and at times, it feels intentional), and when we asked about the cost of the meals, she would always refuse to tell us and say, “later, later.” We completely trusted them, felt like part of the family, but in the end, we discovered we were paying the same price for Rice and Curry as we would at a luxury restaurant. We were given two bottles of water with every meal, which we never requested but had to pay for in the end, at an expensive cost (double price than normal). We even had to pay for the water served with breakfast, despite breakfast being included in the price! The activities Nelum suggests as “free” are simply a way to pressure you into buying something. The family claimed they weren’t after money, but in the end, we were treated like walking wallets. We felt deeply betrayed when we left! It ruined our overall experience.

We love the family that’s receive us at Nelum home, we felt there at home. Everything was super nice and we really recommend it.

Very friendly family, if you want to live the real Sri Lanka life, it is the place to be. Nelum is a very good person always ready to help you. I recomand warmly

Very nice homestay. We had a wonderfull experience meeting the family. Nelum is a very talented and lovely woman. She went out of here way to help us and was always very kind and friendly. Location is close the the main road so easy to visit restaurants and bars. We also ate two nights at the homestay which was very tasty! Breakfast was good and also enough! Many homestays in Sri lanka are not like a homestay, they are more like hotels/guesthouses. If you want a real homestay experience, stay at this place. We hope to come back someday!

It was really lovely room with bathroom, the family is very friendly and helped with renting bicycles, the owner cooked dinner for us which was perfect experience to try local cuisine.we really enjoyed the stay and recommend to stay there 😃
