Sigiriya Palace View

We loved the view from the balcony of lions rock, the hosts were very accommodating and made our time in Sigirya perfect! Suriya helps you to organise your time in Sigirya and really looks after us, and the food was absolutely delicious:)

Nothing! Any problems we had, Suriya and his wife sorted for us with no problems.

Peaceful location, great food

Not a lot

I had an outstanding stay at this homestay. It is very comfortable, in a natural oasis with a direct view of Lion Rock. The garden atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. It’s very close to Sigiriya’s restaurants and convenient as a base for all the nearby tours. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was also clean and well maintained. The hosts are exceptionally warm and kind, always ready to make you feel at home. They’re happy to offer you a refreshing drink and sit down for a friendly chat, a lovely touch that really adds to the experience. Mr Suriya was incredibly helpful, always providing tips and suggestions about the tours and experiences to do. He personally organizes both transfers and trips, which are cheaper and smarter than what you find online. I recommend not to book experiences in advance online but to arrange everything directly with him on site. Suriya was a great help not only in Sigiriya, but also assisted me in organizing the rest of my trip across other destinations in Sri Lanka.

The hosts were absolutely incredible such a warm, kind and welcoming family. The food was fantastic, nothing was ever too much trouble, and even their lovely dog Kiki added to the experience. After I left, I realised I’d forgotten my charger, and the host actually travelled 10 kilometres to bring it to me. That really sums up just how helpful and caring they are. A wonderful stay, and I would highly recommend Sigiriya Palace View to anyone visiting the area.

Honestly, there wasn’t anything I disliked about my stay. I had a really positive experience from start to finish.

We loved that we could sit in the garden eating the most delicious home cooked lunch overlooking Lions Rock. A very special place in Sigiriya. Suriya hosted us so well with helpful tips and offers amazing trips in his rickshaw.

Nothing

Rien

Amazing stay! Very very clean and comfortable. The host helped me literally in everything i needed offering me tours to all the attractions in the area without being pushy. As a solo traveller that was very very helpful because i didnt have to worry about anything. He also helped to arrange transportations to the cities nearby and everything in very reasonable prices.

The owners couldn’t have done more to make our stay more comfortable, excellent service. Clean comfortable rooms with a nice hot shower Nice outdoor area with a view of Lion Rock. Easy five minute walk to cafes and restaurants Lovely breakfast

Another sheet on the bed would be good but it’s a small thing

Exceptional Stay – Highly Recommended! We had an absolutely wonderful stay and everything exceeded our expectations. The property was beautiful, peaceful and very well maintained, with a relaxing atmosphere that made our stay truly enjoyable. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well arranged, and all the facilities were excellent. What impressed us most was the hospitality and friendly service. We felt genuinely welcomed and well looked after throughout our stay. It was a perfect place to relax, spend quality time together and create some great memories. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. 10/10 – Excellent in every way! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable, peaceful and memorable getaway.

Clean room

The host was too pushy about organizing activities and insisted on getting my private WhatsApp number. After I gave it to him, he called me directly, which I found quite impolite. I was also told not to communicate via WhatsApp and to use Booking.com instead, making the request for my private number unnecessary. The Wi-Fi was unreliable throughout my stay. At one point, I found that the router had simply been unplugged. Even after plugging it back in, it continued to have problems, so I had to rely on an unstable SIM connection most of the time. The room was also very hot and humid. Although an air conditioner was installed, I was not allowed to use it. Opening the window helped with the heat, but many mosquitoes entered the room. Overall, the stay was quite uncomfortable.

We had a very pleasant stay here. The atmosphere was warm and family-like, and the accommodation was clean and well maintained. The food was excellent and clearly prepared with a lot of care. The hosts were extremely welcoming and attentive, and the host was also happy to accommodate special requests, which made the stay feel very personal and comfortable. They were very engaged in helping us arrange trips and activities, offering a great variety of excursions at very reasonable prices. They were always keen to make sure we had a good experience. A lovely place with welcoming hosts, excellent food, and very good value for money. We would happily stay here again.

At times, their enthusiasm for arranging activities was perhaps a little more than we needed, but overall we appreciated how helpful and proactive they were.

Loved everything, hosts were so kind and helpful and very informative- would recommend staying here to everyone was a perfect stay

The host Suriya and his wife are really humble, kind people who will always help you out with any questions/information. The location is surrounded by kind of a jungle so you might have few mosquito but otherwise it is definitely value for money.

Fantastic place, lovely view of lion Rock, hammocks and lovely garden, great value and hosts that look after you.

Lovely people, very clean room, the view is amazing.

Breakfast was full of sweets and carbs.

The hosts Suriya and his lovely wife will go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The food they provide is lovely and his wife is a very good cook. The view of the palace from the property is amazing and to wake up to this every morning makes the stay very special. They also offer other services, we took the safari he offered and it was incredible and a very reasonable price. From the moment we arrived late at night they made us feel so welcome and took us in as if we were apart of the family. I’ve never felt so looked after at a Homestay before. The rooms were really clean (the cleanest we’ve had since travelling for a few months) and the mosquitoes nets were really great to keep us safe. Highly recommend staying here.

It was walking distance within the Sigiriya rock and the bus station. We could see the rock from the balcony as well. The place was very clean, spacious, and quiet. Recommend!

Big, clean room and bathroom with lovely garden with hammocks and a view of the lion rock to chill in. Breakfast was extensive and delicious! The owners were super accommodating and have plenty of day trips to offer if you’re interested. 5-10 minute walk to nearest restaurants.

Mr Suriya is the kindest guy you will find here in Sigiriya or maybe in the whole of Sr Lanka :) Mr. Surya and Ms. Suriya, both are exceptionally great when it comes to hospitality and welcoming. They made sure everything was on time and clean. The best part is he has a tuk tuk so if you want to travel to any scenic areas, he can take you. Great people and a great place if you want something clean and close to nature ❤️

Great location, fantastic views of Sigiriya rock, warm, friendly service & lovely hosts. Couldn’t do more for us (advice, organising & breakfasts!)

I stayed at Sigiriya Palace View 3 nights and I really loved it. As the owned and tuk-tuk driver Suriya was amazingly helpful with tips, pick-ups/drop-offs and also tours. I took a few tours (Pidurangala sunrise hike, Thalkote Lake, Dambulla cave temple, and Pollonaruwa) and was really happy with all of them. Suriya was very flexible and we took the tours when it suited me. Other absolute highlight of the stay was the breakfast his wife makes, along with bird sounds in the garden and views of the Lion's Rock. Would love to come back if I ever visit Sigiriya again!

The only thing I disliked was being brought to an herb garden between Dambulla and Sirigiya. It's not a nice place (it's very money-driven where you're forced to have a massage and buy).

The accommodation was very good. Friendly hosts and an optimal location with a beautiful view and gardens to relax in. The food was very delicious. All around, everything you could wish for in a beautiful holiday.

As a solo female travel I felt very safe. The host was very helpful and offered tuktuk rides at a fee. He emphasised the importance of safety within the area at night (due to recent wild elephant attacks). I joined the cooking class which was very fun and great value for money, we made lots of delicious dishes. If I return to Sigiriya, I will definitely stay with this lovely family!

No suggestions.

Our hosts really went the extra mile for us. They made us feel extra welcomed and accommodated our trip very well. They provided plenty of options for all attractions, food and transport. We had no stress of this. We were able to rely on our hosts and they always fulfilled for us. The location is great. Local to all the tourists spots and a stunning view of lions rock. Our hosts accommodated us with home made cooking, which was very tasty and also assisted us with support when we left the town to others. I have recommended to my family and friends to stay here and use our hosts as local support.

N/A

This was a great homestay! The family is so nice and willing to help with anything you need. The property is close to Lion Rock, but removed from the main road so it is quiet and peaceful. The surroundings are beautiful and it's a great place to sit and relax. The meals were excellent as well. Highly recommend staying here.

A vrai dire, avis partagé.

Vielen Dank!

We’ve been in Sri Lanka for a week, and this was the best accommodation we’ve stayed at. The owner was extremely helpful and assisted us with everything. He organized our trips and transportation. His wife is the best cook in the world, and we really enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. The accommodation was lovely, clean, and had a stunning view of Lion Rock. Highly recommended.

-

The property is about 15mins walk to shops and places to eat but worth the walk for the peaceful location and beautiful views of the countryside and Lions Rock. The home stay has chairs and hammocks to relax in and a lovely balcony area. The room was clean and spacious with a ceiling fan and you can pay extra for air con. The hosts can provide meals at an additional cost and the lunch we had was lovely! The host can provide transport by tuk tuk for an additional charge and he brought us to and from Pidurangala Rock. He arranged a safari to Kaudulla National Park for us with Tharanga who had so much knowledge about the elephants. He didn’t rush us and went at our pace for the safari. Couldn’t recommend enough

Nothing

Surya Brother and his wife treeted us like their family. We will join next time too...

Everything was good

Alles!

We were so warmly welcomed by Suriya and his sweet family. You feel completely at home! It is a perfect opportunity to be immersed in the Sri Lankan culture and kindness. The view from the rooms and the garden is stunning. You have some hammocks to chill looking at the Sigiriya Rock. It is near to many restaurants so you can walk to go to a for lunch or dinner or have a delicious meal prepared by Suriya’s wife. They even proposed a cooking lesson for us and our children one night: it was a beautiful experience. Suriya’s does everything he can to make your stay special : he took our children to a wood carving workshop, he took us to an Ayurvedic spa, and also demonstrated his incredible skills carving a watermelon and vegetables : quite a show! He also organized our taxis and took us with his Tuktuk to our activities and also to Dambulla. The rooms are very clean, the beds are confortable , you have AC, mosquito net, and the place is very calm. If you want a more authentic experience I recommend you to go there if you visit Sigiriya.

If we really have to find something, I would say that the beds are comfy, they put on them more local and colorful bedding, but the part that is underneath can go away if you move to much and then you are directly on the bare mattress. Bigger fabric would be ideal.

Absolutely exceptional stay! The host made us feel like family—warm, helpful, and incredibly attentive. He prepared a delicious dinner, probably the best curry I have ever had, arranged our day trips and transport, and shared great local tips. In the evening, we enjoyed a demonstration of how the make beautiful fruit and vegetable carvings—what a lovely touch!

The highlight of the place is the family that cares for every need you may have. The backyard is also a very relaxing and beautiful place to have breakfast or to just relax in the hammocks.

Nothing

Siruya and his wife were amazing ! He gave great advices and recommandations during our entire journey, and was available for us at any time The place offers an amazing view straight on the rock lion, into the jungle. We are several time at the place and the food was also delicisous, Siruya’s wife is an excellent cook !

Fantastic stay, I would highly recommend. Thank you to Siriya and his family!

The place to be in Sigiriya! Small family business with attention to every detail. The rooms are clean, spacious, there is everything you need. The delicious breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking lion rock and a little garden. They are really friendly and are available for transportation or any kind of advice to explore the area. Location is central. Highly recommended!

I stayed here for one night as a solo traveler and had a super comfortable experience. The view from the hotel was really nice and peaceful. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the staff were very kind and helpful. Since I was traveling alone, they really took care of me and helped me with everything I needed. I felt safe and welcomed. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a short and relaxing stay! 10/10 🤩🤩👍👍

Amazing stay in a quiet area, yet very close to shops, restaurants and main sights. The room was big, cosy, well-furnished and clean. There is a sitting area outside the room with peaceful garden with a view of the Lion’s rock. No neighbours, just pure nature! The host Suriya with his wife were very warm and welcoming, made sure we had everything we needed during our stay and gave us good suggestions regarding our programme. They also offer home-cooked dinner with sri lankan’s dishes, everything tasty. The overall experience was delightful. 😊

The location of the homestay was fantastic, with stunning views of the Lion Rock and close to many cultural attractions in the Cultural Triangle. The host was always available and took great care of us. The food was excellent and varied. We also appreciated the host's helpful information about the sights and transfers, and the fact that he even offers tour with his own tuk-tuk.

Great location. Relatively close to a street with cafes, close to the mountain, but secluded and quiet. Nice terrace with a pleasant view. There is a water heater in the room, so you always have hot water (if it works). When the water heater broke, the owner refused to fix it in our absence, so that we would not feel uncomfortable because someone was walking among our belongings - this is good (I mean it).

The breakfasts were rather plain, without any fruits. The main disadvantage of this place is for sure the host. At first, he seemed a friendly and kind person. Then It turned out that he was only concerned with one thing: how to sell us something. He kept saying that he didn't insist on anything, but that wasn't true. When we (me, my wife and three of our friends, two of whom lived in the next room in the same house) decided to go on a safari to the national park, we decided to compare several offers. On the street, among the cafes, there is a man who offers taxi services, excursions, including organizing a safari. He offered us a price a third lower than the owner (25k rupees vs. 36k rupees for five people). Well, i decided not to bring it up, we were mere guests after all. But when our host found out that we had booked a safari somewhere else for so much cheaper, he just turned sour. He started looking at us as if we had somehow insulted him, there was no trace of friendliness left, only a forced cold politeness. Do you think that was the end of it? No. Later, when we booked a transfer to Kandy from the same person who had organized the safari for us (the safari was great by the way), he told us that our host had called him and swore at him because he was lowering prices. Our host was genuinely offended that we did not buy his service at an exorbitant price, can you imagine? When we were leaving, he started to insistently ask us to leave before 11 AM, although the booking conditions clearly stated that we could stay until 12. And the cherry on top of that: he waited until we left, and immediately marked all four of us as no-shows! Now that was really indecent, and thanks to Booking support, they sorted out the situation. Obviously he did not want me to be able to leave a review. After this, I can only rate it as 4.

Cool but the owner a bit too much with all the services that he was trying to sell

Keine Beanstandungen !

This was a magical homestay. The hosts are warm and welcoming and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have a good experience in Sigiriya. Suriya has a tuktuk, which makes it easy to get around, and it is well worth the reasonable extra cost to enjoy Sunathra’s exceptional cooking. I visited over the Avurudu holiday and Suriya and Sunathra invited me to join their friends and family walking to Lion’s Rock, and later Suriya set off firecrackers for the guests’ children. I recommend it to anyone looking to experience an unforgettable slice of life in a beautiful village. And as a solo female traveler, I felt very safe. The room and bathroom were very clean with all the basic amenities you’d need, the tables outside overlooked a lovely garden with a tall field beyond, and a perfect view of Lion’s Rock beyond. Safe and easy walking distance to several village restaurants and an easy 20min walk to Lion’s Rock entrance. Suriya is eager to facilitate experiences in the area, whether taking you to the Ayurvedic medicinal garden or the Village Safari, or to hike Pidurangula Rock. However, he is very respectful if you have firm plans already.

A lovely homestay visit. Siriya and his wife are very keen to help and offer suggestions for the local area. We did not need to take up the offer, however, as we had our own driver. It is a peaceful location with an excellent view of Lion's Rock and lovely hammocks to relax into. The accommodation is at the back of Siriiriya's home. Our room was equipped with fans, air-conditioning, and mosquito net. Breakfast included fresh fruit and cooked Sri Lankan style dishes. We also had a lovely home cooked evening meal. After a fall on the way down from Lion's Rock, S iriya and his wife were so helpful in providing a full medical kit.

The location is peaceful, but a short distance away from local restaurants and cafes, although there is always the possibility of a ride with the owner's tuk tuk.

We spent two nights in this lovely homestay to visit Sigiriya. The Sri-lankan/western breakfast was delicious! Amazing view from the garden terrace and a very friendly family to stay with.

I had a wonderful stay at this family-owned home stay in Sigiriya. The host's hospitality was outstanding, he was genuinely attentive and proactively offered assistance and suggestions for exploring the area. A significant highlight was the location, which provided a stunning, unobstructed view of Lion's Rock, adding a magical element to the experience. The meals prepared were excellent, showcasing authentic Sri Lankan flavors. Dinner and breakfast were both a testament to the quality of their home cooking. I highly recommend this home stay for a personal and memorable experience, especially for those wanting to wake up to a breathtaking view

I had a wonderful stay at this homestay! The place was beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The hosts were incredibly friendly and always willing to help with anything I needed. I felt truly welcomed and well taken care of throughout my stay. One of the best parts was that the host had a tuk-tuk, so he could take me to my destinations for a small fee. It made exploring the area so much easier! The breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared, a perfect start to the day. And the view from the garden was simply breathtaking – a stunning panorama of Lion Rock that made my stay even more special. I would recommend this homestay to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for such a nice experience!

Zentrale Lage mitten in Sigiriya.
