Great food and very friendly and helpful staff I felt completely at ease during my stay
Parking was limited
We were going to a birthday party about 5 minutes walk away from where we were staying so that was great. The hotel/pub was by the river which was lovely but by the road which was not a bother as it was quiet at night. The room was comfortable and had all you need for a nights stay. We didn’t stay for food but the friends we were visiting said the food was very good and the bar is great for a quiet drink.
The only criticism is that the hotel is slightly shabby and could maybe have a slight refurbishment. There was no hairdryer but that was not a problem for me. However the hotel is in a pretty old mining town in South Wales which is more important.
Breakfast was amazing - Try the Welsh breakfast with lava bread and cockles - yummy
Car park was a little tight but we managed ok.
Noisy outside
Clean and tidy cosy pub. Beds were comfortable and nice clean room
Parking a little tight
Location and food
Exellent venue for our needs. Breakfast was good value for the money.
Everything was fine
We had great experience, the staff wee friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and the prices were affordable. Highly recommended
It was good value and the member of staff at the bar when I arrived was lovely. Friendly and welcoming!
It’s very tired and desperately needs a bit of care and attention. It’s noisy by the road. One of the pillowcases was ripped and there were no pillow protectors so I assume people just sleep on the pillow as the case falls off and the pillow isn’t washed. It’s very cheap so you can let quite a bit slide for the price, but some things just felt like a lack of care and attention. It was fine for a few nights on my own but it was very basic!
nice room. not far from Swansea everything works but is used
The staff were excellent couldn't do enough for us very welcoming.
The bathroom could have been redone a bit more modern and the bed was a bit too springy dick was a bit dated and broken blinds and windows could have been cleaned.
Breakfast was very nice, could up grade the sausages to make it really good. Staff friendly. Menu in the evening extensive and good value, food was great.
Car park small and tight, I got the last space when I got there and had to manoeuvre into the space. One of the reasons I booked was onsite parking. Minor detail, you couldn't fill the kettle up from the sink tap as not enough space.
40 a night, friendly staff, above a pub with ok pub food, nice locals, near the river/canal path, nice to hear the river at night. I got a parking spot in the car park. Very chilled and well priced beer! Had a great stay over.
Could be a bit cleaner in places (sorry!) Breakfast was a tenner on booking.com and less if I'd have paid there!
Friendly, inexpensive and a superb breakfast…
Nothing
All good
There were no problems
Rooms are looking a little tired ( could do with a refresh and new curtains)
Not really being explained to in connection with the breakfast times for guests.
The evening food was nice and well priced
The room carpet was grubby and the heater was broken off the bathroom wall. I was charged for the wrong food and am still awaiting a VAT receipt for the rooms which had been entered as a requirement on the booking, requested at check in and check out, plus requests sent via Booking.com messages.
Breakfast was really good, a big portion and also and also a tasty vegan option. The Dillwyn was perfect for our one night stay. Comfy bed and an ensuite bathroom. Friendly and accommodating staff.
Although it appears to need a bit of TLC on the outside (letters missing from the name of the hotel, one side covered in climbers), inside it is a different matter… To be greeted by your first name on arrival is highly unusual and makes you feel very welcome straightaway. The room was perfectly adequate - twin beds, bedside table, tea and coffee, TV (rather confusingly with both Sky and Smart tv remote controls) and shower/toilet (just be aware that the shower is electric and needs to be switched on by a switch on the wall opposite, which I mistook for an emergency cord!). There is also wifi provided by Sky Broadband. There is a restaurant for meals with a full and varied menu (and bingo the night I stayed) and an amazing range of real value for money breakfasts, even including one with cockles and lava bread if you want the true Welsh experience. All the staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. And all this at a price which is a real bargain and very hard to beat, especially as it includes breakfast.
Location was great for the Beacons. The pub had a great patina about it.
Nothing
Old school, like proper old school boozer with rooms. Friendliness of the staff made the stay
Not sure it’s seen a paint brush for a few decades

Breakfast was good. Cooked individually and served quite quickly.
There were no water glasses in the en-suite.
Gezellige pub en goed restaurant
Ietsje gedateerd
Fuimos recibidas muy amablemente por la chica que lleva el hostal. Estaba además bien situado, cerca de un Lidl y del centro.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Excellent service in the bar and restaurant The evening meal was really good with generous portions and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was also very good and of generous size. Location was ideal for us with a short drive to our final destination the following day. The room was reasonable with ensuite and bed was comfortable. Very reasonable room rate.
Room decoration could do with a refresh. Everything else was good for us.
Food, Bar and staff. Staff were friendly and helpful. Easy parking.
The condition of our bedroom, very dated and scruffy. In need of a complete refurbish. The image you’ve shown is not at all reflective. Poor quality bedding and towels. Inconsistent hot water. Mouldy shower dirty windows. Scruffy carpet to name a few Bedding could have been ironed. We stayed 2 nights without room servicing.
OK for the price.
Breakfast was fine and the location was perfect as it was near to the venue of wedding we were attending.
The twin room we stayed in was very dark with all four walls plus bedding being a very dark petrol blue colour.Given that the room was very dark the fact that the lighting was poor did not help matters. The paintwork was scuffed and chipped .The bedding was a poor quality and the mattresses were terrible. The shower tray had a lot of black mold on it.The room was overlooked by a main road and this was a problem on account of no blinds ot net curtains meaning that the main curtains had to be kept closed which did not help with the lighting situation. The carpet was also dark and badly in need of replacing as it appeared dirty and were sticky underfoot.
Fantastic service and staff really friendly food was amazing.
Would have liked to get a table for a evening meal, but it wax fully booked. But this does show how good it was
Great place, next to a small river. A nice bar which was busy, a great little restaurant that did well-made food. Bedroom overlooking the river...
Tv setup could be improved, the bed also, but not bad so as not to sleep well
Great location with parking available. Fantastic price and amazingly lovely and helpful staff. Generally very clean with some minor issues that avers don’t need mentioning. Excellent value for money. The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. And the room had great WiFi and sky tv. The property provides tea & coffee etc and also shower gel / shampoo / conditioner. The shower itself was lovely and hot (although the water pressure isn’t great). Very peaceful nights sleep I would absolutely recommend this properly and will definitely book again in the future.
The only real problem which I could have had was the parking is limited, but ideal if you manage to snag a space. (There is parking nearby if you don’t mind a short walk though)
Super freundlicher Empfang, großes Entgegenkommen bei Frühstückszeit, großartiges Frühstück. Ausstattung prima
Einrichtung ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, beim Kaffee ist noch viel Luft nach oben.
Everything
Nothing not to like
It was quiet, easy to find and had Sky. Great for the overnight stay I wanted. Had a car park.
There's not really anything I didn't like, I was literally there for about 12 hours, most of which I was asleep.
Good location, shower and comfort all good. Food is excellent and its good value.
Nothing
Breakfast was good. Staff are very friendly.
Decor somewhat dated.
I received a warm welcome which continued through my stay. Thank you.
Breakfast was great and I felt at home.
Room directly above the restaurant/bar area. Constant noise and music till closing (23:20), then noise from staff till midnight. So bad, I checked out after the first night. No soundproofing whatsoever - in the morning, I could hear the conversation of the person in the room next door when they were on the phone.
The noise!
Good location for what we were doing, very friendly staff, good food menu and nice meals. Bedroom was reasonable, comfy bed.
Pillows not very good, a bit lumpy and too soft for me, could do with a fan in the room as very hot. Some areas could do with a deep clean in the hotel area.
Nice welcome. Beds comfortable. Excellent value.
Nothing the hotel can do about it, but being located literally beside the traffic lights and main crossroads for the village means there the car noise is real. Bring earplugs.
The staff had been very helpful and accommodating
The bed was terrible, hard and the bedding was not very comfortable. The bathroom was very tired
Very good staff always friendly, great value, good food and good showers.
Great choice of delicious hot dishes for breakfast. Very friendly staff. Convenient location. Great to have so many tv channels. Handy to have its own car park. We never had a problem parking.
Location is convenient but noisy. Bathroom and bedroom could do with some TLC for example put in black out curtains, towel rail in bathroom, hot water tap during the day.
Very friendly and helpful staff greeted us and showed us to our room and explained the amenities (breakfast, wifi etc).
The room was nice and the staff were very friendly
The location. Booking.com said it was near the City Centre when infact it was in Neath and cost £30 to get to and from Swansea.
Friendliness of staff. Beautiful breakfast.
Visiting relaions so I didn't use the restaurant but did have a lovely evening meal on arrival 😋....the staff were very friendly and helpful making my stay even more enjoyable....and look forward to staying there next year ...plus close to amenities and lovely walks around the town etc
Good location just outside the main high street, breakfast was excellent and the staff were super friendly and helpful
Not much parking available due to a decking extension, the upstairs part of the pub where the rooms are is a little worn and tired and could be with refurbishment.
The location was ideal for me. This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this venue and will stay again. The staff have always been friendly and please to help at any time. I was attending a funeral which was late in the afternoon but they allowed me to have a late checkout which helped me a great deal.
Car parking is limited, but it does ease once the locals have left however there are other places very near to park for free the staff will advise where to go.
The breakfast was delicious, the location for me wasn’t very good as I needed to be in Swansea, and found the distance a little far
Lovely staff and excellent breakfast
Everything
Staff were lovely, breakfast was tasty and large portions
Facilities and cleanliness. When I arrived light in room wasn’t working not working so had to buy a drink in the bar while I waited for them to find a bulb. TV controls were very inherited in working and couldn’t receive basic channels on tv. Place needs a lot of TLC x
Location, setting, convenience
Nothing
Straightforward
Tv didn’t work
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room and the breakfast (recommend the Full Welsh) was unbelievably good. ‘Banging’ as they say. 😂
Limited parking space but was lucky to squeeze myself in. The traffic noise was quite loud from room no.4. Was needing to get up early so didn’t affect the enjoyment of my stay.
Extremely friendly staff, comfortable room, good internet, nice bathroom, comfortable bed. Great location close to shops. Delicious, good quality food.
The lights are quite dim but it wouldn't deter me from staying again.
Comfy, good shower and food.
Warm and friendly welcome plenty of advice on surrounding places to visit
extra chair in room more hanging space
The team were very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The menu for both dinner and breakfast was vast, and the food was fabulous. We met friends for dinner 13 in total, and all of our food was freshly made and served at the same time. The bar prices were reasonable. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Thank you we had a lovely stay with you.
Nothing!!
Staff very helpful nice and clean
Just as you leave the car park there is a huge hole in the road not good for small cars but I think that's the weather and poor management of the council
Very reasonable rates, staff were amazing.
Always good, my go to place
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, lovely breakfast.
Breakfast was superb. Staff were excellent and friendly
Nothing
Fabulous staff, very good food.
Bed covers
I had to check out before breakfast times-pity, I marked 8.7 out of 10 only because the TV did not work-I thought because of storm-but the signal was in the bar room as guests were watching TV as I purchased and ate the Scampi and chips, which was exceptionally good, all washed down with a pint of Guinness. Easily found and I had room to park my little Ka.
I knocked points off because the shower was awkward- hot cold, wouldn't function properly. No SKY box signal -mentioned above, and the bed was to hard for ME- but thats me. Rain and muppets on scooters and souped up cars were noisy throughout the night-but site is on a busy crossroads junction.
Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Rooms had tea / coffee making facilities. Value for money. Would return if I was in the area.
The welcome, the room and the food were all very good. The checking out arrangements on the Sunday were very generous too so no scramble to depart.
There was only one chair in the double bedroom so had to use the bed as a comfy chair Also the parking was an interesting challenge as no enough to satisfy demand but that is nothing the Dillwyn Arms could do anything about
dirty and smelly
Dirty and smelly- bad Adour
Good. Good.
Lighting in room and was bit cold
Good location
Pretty uninspiring
Lack of parking.
Breakfast was good. Location was good.
No hot water, one of the rooms had no plug for the sink.
The accommodation was excellent overall together with the staff plus the food was 5star
Couldn't find anything to complain about.
The staff are so welcoming and the room is very comfortable with a lovely warm shower, lots of towels and good selection of refreshments. Loved the breakfast!
The relaxed atmosphere. Easy access to Swansea. Nice pub and restaurant.
The food. Breakfast was excellent and good value for money. Also had an evening meal which was sldo very good. On site parking is a bonus.
Nothing.
The staff were v friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was v good. Overall great value for money
The general decor could do with a refresh. In one of the rooms the bathroom shelf was broken. They do not service your room so need to ask for fresh towels or tea/coffee
Excellent food
Bed was not comfortable, mattress springs were very uncomfortable! Toilet in en suite bathroom didn’t flush very well and was very noisy
