Canal view suite

Once inside the apartment it is really charming. It had everything I needed for a comfortable stay and the location was brilliant, looking out onto a canal and close to the train station and centre of things. I could almost pretend to be living like a local. Roos very kindly arranged for me to check in a little early which was much appreciated.

The three flights of stairs were very steep and the communal part of the building shabby. Once inside the apartment it was completely different though. The shower flooded on my last day. The microwave was very complicated and it took until the second day before I could work it out. I downloaded a manual from the internet. It turned out it was stuck on ‘showroom demo’ mode and once I worked out how to switch that off it worked fine. A provided manual would have been good.

I loved sitting with a tea and looking out over the canal. It was super close to so many things, restaurants, the train station, museums, shops. The unit is cozy but very comfortable. Even though it was close to everything it was quite quiet at night.

The only thing that we found a bit challenging was getting our 40lb suitcases up and down the steep, narrow stairs.

Soap dispensers were empty. Stairway to apartment smelled funny (not ownwers fault). Owner deactivated our ability to control the AC until we texted them about why we lost it.

On the third floor. Had to negotiate 45 very steep and narrow steps. That is a challenge with luggage.

Taking luggage up 3 very steep flights of stairs. This wasn’t communicated well. WIFI was not working. No milk supplied for tea/coffee No breakfast supplied even though it said it was included on the listing.

Great location.

The canal view. The proximity to Eurostar and local transport. Plenty of good coffee and an excellent French bakery nearby. Easy to stroll the canal ring from here. Interesting area, from shabby to chic.

Local restaurants uneven: we had excellent and very poor food. The 'suite' is small, but quiet and well-equipped. It's in need of a little TLC, but clean. Getting up the stairs to the 3rd floor would be a challenge to some older visitors (we're 69 and 71), it might be an idea to explain this in your blurb. And where is the fire escape?

Excellent location for trams, trains and metro. Main streets within walking distance 10-15 minutes.

Very steep stairs as on third floor - no lift. Small apartment, very small shower enclosure. The room is a bit tired and would benefit from redecoration. Kitchen facilities basic with microwave locked and unable to open. Main double windows do not open as latch removed this was a shame as unable to enjoy the canal views to full potential.

A/C was not working correctly and room got hot. Also microwave was locked hence could not use, WiFi did not connect.

Loved the communication with the owner, always attentive about all matters relating to our stay. Great views and a really easy walk from Centraal station. Facilities were fantastic.

User guide for oven and air con

Location is perfect for getting around Amsterdam and to access any other places by train or metro. Roos was available anytime if we needed anything. The room is set up well for a small inner city space and has a wonderful view of the Singel canal.

The location was great, its 5-10 min walking distance to most of tourist attractions, and place has a very nice view of the canal. The owner was easy to get in touch with.

It’s at the third floor, there is no balcony therefore if you are a smoker that’s a lot of cardio. There is an electronic panel that “so controls” indoors temperature and AC. But you have to contact to the owner every time you wanna make an adjustment. If you are a Mediterranean, owner’s choice of indoors temperature might not be ideal and possibly might give you chills during winter and early spring.

Very good located,towards a non busy canal, in the centre of amsterdam. The room was very well cleaned and well heated. We noticed some beeping sound from a side door and let the host know, which they took care of with no delay. The host, by the way, was always very responsive and communicative so all the stay was smooth sailing.

We were allowed to leave the bag downstairs since we arrived way before checking in, and i was expecting the bags to just be stored inside some room, but they just stay in the corridor viewable from the outside door. Nothing happened but it gave me pause.

Beautiful apartment with excellent views close to central station. Light and airy and a lovely shower. Perfect base for a few days in Amsterdam.

Stairs BUT this is normal for Amsterdam and was expected just be aware if you struggle with mobility.

The location was great. The room for it’s size was quite well layed out. Heated floor in bathroom was nice.

The stairs/hall were very unclean. The TV did not work nor did the WiFi. For the price paid I feel it would need the above fixed and still is overpriced for the size.

The location was great for walking in the middle of Centrum Amsterdam. The apartment had all the amenities that you would need with a great sized fridge.

Internet access had to be reset and it seems that the doorbell to get us into the building when we arrived required that the internet connection work, therefore we had to wait for about 8 minutes for the host to bike to us to open the door. This was OK as the temperature was decent, it would be really difficult if it was really really cold as in the winter time. Also, it is on the 3rd floor without a lift, therefore if you have heavy luggage or have respiratory or mobility issues, this will be a big problem.

We have stayed at flats at the two Amsterdam Jewel Apartments locations and have enjoyed each one immensely. The owner-partners, Jojo and Cees, are very gracious and attentive hosts and we thank them for their kindness.

Location was great. Room is perfectly setup for two people. Very clean and comfortable. Host is very responsive and accommodating.

Very clear instructions from the host, very clean, great location (very central yet quiet). Especially in a city where hotel rooms are as small as they are in Amsterdam, an apartment like this makes your stay much more relaxing.

Very unpleasant smell in the stairwell

I like the proximity to the Central Station. It’s a lovely place and a cute suite by the canel.

I don’t like the stairs. It’s narrow. I don’t recommend travellers expecting a hotel service/elevator. It’s more of an Airbnb style property. I carried my massive suitcase up to the 3rd floor. If you travel light or you don’t mind it, go for it.

Aunque dicen que tienen sitio para guardar las maletas es un pasillo que que puede acceder todo el mundo. Es cierto que hay escaleras para subir que pueden ser complicadas con las maletas, pero todos los edificios de Ámsterdam que no sean grandes hoteles son iguales.

The canal view and location are excellent. The staff and neighbors were very friendly.

I was ready to disappointed with the absence of an elevator and the difficulty of access to the facility. Furthermore, I have failed to check in because I couldn’t open the door since the facility is a self check in and I was denied refund. No assistance has been provided whatsoever and I had to book and pay for another hotel

Fantastic central location within easy walking distance of all that Amsterdam has to offer. The apartment was clean and bright, the bed extremely comfortable. Although the apartment is close to the central station and centrally located it was quiet and we slept well. Good shower, and coffee machine. The host was easy to communicate before and during our stay and was very helpful when we arrived later than anticipated due to a train cancellation. Also gave us some good suggestions for local places to eat.

As mentioned in the description the access is up 3 flights of steep stairs. Would not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility, but we knew this was the case and it was not an issue for us.

Once you are in the room, it has all the comforts you need, good bed, good view etc.,. There were minor irritants that the host took care of. The room is small, but okay for a one night stay. Paid parking on street is close by -- which is good although parking in the city is always expensive.

It is not a hotel, it is a single room. It is on the 3rd floor and you have narrow set of stairs to climb. When you reach 3rd floor, you have a small landing space to navigate. It is not quite the expectation that was set when you book. Frankly, if you set that expectation, the room itself is good. I would recommend being clear about expectations.

Very central and close to Amsterdam Central Station. Shops close by. Bars and restaurants close by. Nice area for walks.

Great except we had to ask for t-towels etc and there was no boiling water for a cup of tea! A small thermos was offered as The system was broken. Never mind, the place was lovely and very friendly and brought our cases up and down 3 flights of stairs. Small but sufficient!

The perfect spot for a couple in Amsterdam. The location is perfect and so close to everything. The view from the room is amazing and while small - it has everything you need. The hosts were lovely and so easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay there again in future.

Nicely updated and decorated room that despite being small had convenient storage and kitchen amenities, a great view, and was very comfortable.

The air conditioning temperature did not seem to be adjustable. We just turned it off when it got too cold so it wasn't a problem.

The stairs up to the 3rd floor were dangerously steep without adequate handrails. It was also very hot and stuffy with no help to get our luggage upstairs. The soap and shampoo / conditioner containers were almost empty. The 2 towels small and thin.

Superbly located on one of Amsterdam's grandest canals only a few minutes walk with your bags from Centraal Station, this comfortable, spotlessly clean and very nicely refurbished property not only has lovely views out onto the canal but is quietly located within three to 30 minutes of very pleasant walking to everything you might want to see in the city. However, if you must, a number of tram routes run conveniently along a nearby street. Although the apartment itself is on a quiet and relaxing stretch of Singel, there are dozens of busy cafes, restaurants and bars in the cluster of attractive streets in the immediate area. Basically, it's perfect for a few days stay and the host is friendly and helpful. Sure, as others have commented, it's at the top of a narrow and steep flight of stairs but if that's a problem for you then I'm afraid it rules out pretty much every canal-side property in the centre of the city and a large percentage of others besides. I would happily stay here again.

As always for short stays, it really would be useful if accommodation could provide some milk sachets to go with the tea and coffee. I can understand why it was sealed-up (the railing was a bit low it's quite a long drop) but it was a pity that the main door onto the Juliette balcony could not be opened. It's hair-raisingly expensive but that's Amsterdam for you these days and you could probably say the same for London, New York and Paris.

Excellent location. Very comfortable, well equipped, extremely clean and well maintained. It was a wonderful stay. Host was friendly and helpful and answered all questions sent beforehand really quickly. We absolutely loved it and will stay here again if we are visiting Amsterdam.

The entry leading to the room are terrible. Has none of what one would expect. we were also informed by the person that eventually opened for us (took a while) that we were not the first to complain. It seems evident to me that the ratings are either manipulated or else i cannot comprehend how this location has such positive feedback. in fact we did not stay at this premises and sought other accommodation!!!!

Great location - very close to the central train station and walkable to various neighborhoods. The space was exactly as described and very clean. Easy to enter and clear check-in instructions!

The flat was within walking distance of the Central station.

The studio flat. was at the top,of the building and involved many stairs. The flat was cold and the windows were set to remain open. The tiny bathroom shower let water out and we had to use the towels to dry it.

The owner greeted us and was super friendly and extremely helpful. The property was exceptionally clean with a light and airy ambience and although small in size, perfect for what we required. Bed was super comfy with really soft bedding, had a fab night's sleep and I could have stayed in the shower for hours with the large rainwater shower head. When we woke up, we made a coffee, opened the curtains and watched the world go by through the large window. The location was equally amazing, close to train station therefore very easy access from the airport into the centre of Amsterdam with all amenities almost on the doorstep of the property. Wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the property more... :-)

If you are looking for constructive feedback, in my opinion the communal stairwell would benefit from a refresh as first impressions count. I would have liked a full length mirror somewhere in the room and perhaps a small dressing table/desk area perhaps in the space between the French doors and the head of the bed instead of the side tables. Also, did not see any emergency evacuation procedure (something spotted by me friend, who works in H&S) but perhaps missed this as we only stayed one night... otherwise the premises did have the WOW factor for us and the host was truly amazing.

The suite was absolutely perfect for our stay in Amsterdam. Everything we wanted was no more than a 10 minute walk away. The facilities were great especially having a plug next to the mirror and the lighting in the bathroom was amazing for getting ready. The bed was one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in!! To top it all off the host was so lovely and even put balloons in the room as they knew we were there celebrating a birthday. Definitely recommend and hope to be back there again some time soon.

Location was perfect had a gorgous view over a canal and was quiet but a street away from all the action. Felt very safe and secure. Communication from Roos was prompt and great.

We had two big suitcases with us and there wasn't much room to put them anywhere. Rooms are small in Amsterdam so space is always tricky so I'm not sure how to manage this! We only stayed overnight so not so much of a problem but if for longer it would be hard to manage. The stairs (as mentioned in other reviews - so not a surprise) are not for the faint hearted we are fit and strong but I wouldn't recommend if you have big suitcases and are not able bodied.

The perfect place to stay in Amsterdam! We stayed 5 nights, we cannot expect better,the flat was very accessorised and comfortable with an incredible view.the position is very nice close to the train station in a very lovely neighbourhood,you can reach every place of interest on foot with no more than a 20 min walk maximum.When they changed the sheets they even gave us extra coffee.If we were to return to Amsterdam we would already know where to stay overnight

It was an enjoyable stay in Amsterdam. The location of the apartment is perfect. You can reach all attractions just walking from your apartment. Many cafes and amenities are just around the corner. The apartment is very cozy, the bed is comfortable, the shower pressure is high, and WiFi is speedy. The view from the apartment is awesome. The communication with the host of the apartment was instant. I strongly recommend this place to anyone.

Very easy to locate. Just was very efficient. The views over the canal was lovely.

The lights were very temperamental. Stairs were quite strickey to manage, but we knew that so it was our choice. Not much soap left in the dispenser.

The room is in a great location and easy to get to. Located in easy walking distance to train station and all sights. Really enjoyed our stay. Bathroom was big and had a great shower. View from the room was gorgeous!

The stairs are really small, like half stairs and they twist. You have to climb three flights with luggage. It was okay for us because we had backpacks and small carry ons but I would be careful if you have mobility issues pf any kind or can’t carry big luggage.

The suite was clean however the hallway common area was a bit dirty. We weren’t provided a code to access the building before hand which meant we had to contact the host to let us in and get a code for the key box when we got there but she was very nice and helpful.
