The bathroom is uncomfortably small, and not being connected to the bedroom was inconvenient. The room heating is REALLY noisy. The fact that you can't fill up the kettle using the sink tap is a testament to how tiny the bathroom sink is.

Reviewed Aug 5, 2026We loved every bit of Alto on hedditch As soon as you arrived the heater was already on, bed is so so comfortable. Everything you need for a night stay was included. Loved the heater in the bathroom, made showering in the winter night so much more enjoyable VERY close to the shops and of course the Lake Wanaka

Tiny bathroom with nowhere to store toiletries, smacked head many times on sloped ceiling above bed (I’m a slow learner!), walk through garage to get to unit and couldn’t find lights to assist finding stairs, no sink in room for food prep but small ensuite sink in bathroom. Would have found it too small for extended stay.

Bathroom was Very Tight and tiny. You couldn’t bend to brush your teeth-unless you opened the bathroom door to a cold hall. Bathroom was outside your bedroom a few steps away but very cold as you are above an unheated garage. The heater in bedroom was noisy. No smoke /CO2 detector in bedroom!

Wasn't a dislike but maybe a washing up bowl and jug to fill it may help and make wash up a little more easier.

The room was above a garage and felt like an Airbnb stay. The bathroom was tiny. We are not large people, but it was very difficult to use. The shower curtain was particularly unpleasant, as you made contact with it as you showered.

Beware, the description does not match the room. It is not an apartment but a room above a garage. The bathroom is tiny and very basic. A large person would not fit into the bathroom. There is no breakfast and there was no contact with host.

The room was spotless, cosy, and furnished with modern touches that made it feel like home. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The balcony offered stunning views of the mountains, and the thoughtful touches from the hosts really stood out—they left us fresh bread, butter, jam, cereal, a bottle of milk, yoghurt and even bottled water for breakfast! The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel safe and welcome throughout our stay. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely stay again the next time we’re in Wanaka!

Reviewed Mar 2, 2025Clean and well furnished 1st floor room (annex to a residential home). Within walking distance to town centre. Basic breakfast groceries provided were nice.
It was late sunny afternoon when we arrived and the room interior was very hot. Had to keep the balcony door and window open late into the night to make the room comfortable for sleeping. Bathroom was the smallest I have ever used. Whilst the shower and toilet were OK to use, the washbasin was a bit of a challenge!!

The sink! It was completely ridiculous. Apparently the owner decided to convert a space over the garage to rent out. But didn’t have space. Also there’s a mildew odor in that bathroom. It wasn’t in our room so we just kept the door closed, but they should address that issue. We have stayed all over NZ for 2 weeks and some places that were half the price were twice as nice
