Green Vista Ella

• There is hot water and a private fridge in the room. • All the staff were polite. They quickly fixed the issue with the Wi-Fi and provided us with dishes upon request. • The bed linen was clean, the bed is large, very comfortable, and looks beautiful. • The breakfast is tasty, and the terrace is very green and lovely.

• There is no private parking. The public parking is just the roadside. However, we did not have any problems with the car. • The room was not fully prepared for our arrival: there was a kettle but no cups, tea, or coffee. There was no soap or shower gel in the bathroom, and no complimentary water. However, when we asked, they provided cups, tea, and sugar. • The floor in the room was dusty; it’s better to wear shoes inside. • The climb up to the hotel is very difficult! Even if you don’t have luggage and you are young and fit, it will still be hard and take time. This is not the hotel’s fault, but please keep in mind that it will be extremely challenging for elderly people and very young children. It is not accessible by car. • When we asked one of the staff members to arrange a tuk-tuk ride (12 km from the hotel), he quoted us 4,000 rupees. That is literally the price of a taxi ride in Moscow (the most expensive city in Russia). Even considering bargaining (down to 2,500 rupees), starting with such a high price feels disrespectful to hotel guests. We stayed in 9 different places in Sri Lanka, and everywhere else the hosts were honest with us — but not here.

The hotel is located above the main road and requires climbing many steps to access it. It is surrounded by nature, and we even saw monkeys on the property, which adds to the natural setting. However, because of the many stairs, it is not ideal for families, especially those with young children. The staff kindly helped us carry our luggage up to the hotel, which we appreciated. We were disappointed with several aspects of our stay. There were no proper bed sheets on the beds — only a fitted sheet and a blanket — which was not very comfortable. Overall hygiene was lacking. The bedsheets and the room were not clean, and we unfortunately found a cockroach in one of the rooms. There were also frequent power cuts on the first evening, which was inconvenient. The kitchen area was very dirty and clearly not well maintained. With better cleanliness and more attention to basic comfort, this place could be much improved.

The location is very nice, away from the city but quickly reachable by Tuktuk. The terrace is also nice. The room is pretty big.

No hot water during the three days of my stay. Pretty steep stairs to reach the hotel. No proper blanket. Unlike written on booking, lunch/dinner not available.

Gute Lage, man ist mit dem TukTuk sehr schnell in Ella oder auch in 20 Minuten zu Fuß. Man ist schnell im Grünen, wir sind von dort zu einem Wasserfall und zum Ella Rock gelaufen. Die Mitarbeitenden waren super freundlich.

The staff were extremely attentive to our needs and we're happy to accommodate us however they could, the offered complimentary breakfast and also provided laundry services for a small affordable fee, as well as helping set us up with drivers for the two days we stayed which was extremely helpful as we were in Ella during quite a busy time and finding a cab to take us from place to place would have been a lot harder. The facilities were well equipped and the staff were friendly.

Great view, great staff, great breakfast, and the room is super comfortable. The shwoer is excellent too, with hot water. Big balcony. They have a great tuk-tuk tour to interesting sites, not just the touristis ones. Highly recommanded.

Struttura immersa nella natura, con il suono della cascata vicina e con la vista delle scimmie sugli alberi. Camere semplici ma spaziose ed accoglienti con balcone per ammirare il fantastico panorama. Il personale è gentile e pronto ad accogliere le nostre richieste. Ripida salita e scalini per raggiungere la struttura, non adatto a persone con problemi motori. La posizione, anche se la struttura gode di un bellissimo panorama, rispetto al centro di Ella non è ideale

La struttura è poco curata, distante dal centro di Ella (5km ma di strada percorsa da auto, camion e tuk tutk e perdi più buia). Ma il top del disagio è la scalinata ripidissima e lunga che conduce all'hotel e che è percorribile solo a piedi. Con valigie e zaini diventa faticosa in salita e un po' pericolosa in discesa.

The place is under construction. The rooms are under construction. It's not clean, and none of the listed amenities actually exist. The access to the place is dangerous – it includes a steep, unpaved dirt road followed by ninety steps. It's disappointing that Booking.com doesn't check the safety and condition of a place before listing it. Not recommended.

We stayed here with 3 families including children, and it was a fantastic experience. The place was clean, spacious, and very comfortable for both kids and adults. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, they even arranged the tuk tuks and cabs to travel around.

Everything was good, if i have to say one thing, i would say to take note of the stairs to reach to the hotel in case you have some mobility problem. However for us, it was not a prolem at all with children.

Really beautiful room with extra large and comfortable bed. Lovely view in the morning. Room and bathroom were clean. Nice breakfast made by the host. Host super helpful and friendly. About a 15 minutes walk from Ella centre, 500 RP in a tuk tuk. Really short walk to the secret waterfall. We really enjoyed being here.

Very good for couples and adventurous people. It was really a fun to stay over there. Once you go there you will that you choose one of the best option in town within a low budget as well. Just to keep in mind as it's adventurous and fun means to reach to the hotel you need to little climb up like 60-70 metres but that climb is not very easy for family with infant. Otherwise everything was superb

Everything was great.

Awesome accomodation, overlooking the lush green Ella landscape, somewhat quirky with the building constructed round solid rock, fantastic balcony with all the sounds of nature at night. Host also has a tuk tuk which is available for rides into town at a slight extra cost.

The steps were grueling, but once up in my room it was worth it.

Our stay was truly perfect. It's a bit remote, but we didn't mind; you can quickly get into town by tuk-tuk. The location is fantastic, and the view is unbeatable. We had the room at the top, which was lovely. The hosts were very friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended.

Pros: friendly, helpful hosts, delicious breakfast, surrounded by nature, good wifi for digital nomads (sometimes the connection would break but was good) Cons: noisy (animals at night and people walking by and talking), no hand towel, many steps to climb to get to the place which is not mentioned in the description, there is a kettle but no mugs

Great accommodation, spacious rooms with comfortable beds. The best part is the amazing views from the rooms (specially the upper ones), waking up with the views and enjoying them from the balcony of the room it really is something. Good breakfast and nice staff. Perhaps the only down side is that you are far from the center of Ella, but you know that when you book it.

Some minor flaws.

We had a great stay at Green Vista and the owners went above and beyond including arranging for my kindle, which I’d mistakenly left behind in a morning rush for the train, to be delivered to my hotel in Nuwara Eliya. I can’t thank them enough, the breakfast was fab too.

The only slight let down was that the window frames in our room were quite damaged, to the extent that there were holes. I think we were woken up by the culprit the next day… an overzealous woodpecker! Irrespective of this the room was comfortable, clean and great VfM.

The location of the property is about 25 walking time to Ella town, if you try to take a taxi through Pickme Up or Uber they do not come because they like to overcharge tourists .

We found a truly relaxing environment here, with incredible mountain views. Our room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, and also had an extraordinary view. The breakfast offered was fresh and delicious, a perfect start to the day. The staff was fantastic – they made us feel at ease right away, offering helpful advice and support. Their friendliness created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The distance from the center is not an issue, as tuk-tuks can easily be arranged at very competitive prices. All of this made our stay in Ella truly unforgettable. Thank you, Green Vista!

I liked everything, from the guy who runs the hotel, who was super friendly and always available, to the magnificent views and the hot water shower. I would definitely repeat.

We loved the view. In the middle of the jungle, nice views on monkeys and squirrels. The manager was very helpful and nice. Helped us find taxi, prepared breakfast for us very early when requested. The room was big and clean, with a nice balcony.

My family had a great time here! The rooms are spacious, the terraces are covered, so you can enjoy the views even in the rain. Let me tell you about the view - it's one on the best in Ella, and that is saying something! You can see the zip line and Little Adams peak. The young guys that work there are all great and helpful, just ask! One of them is also a great cook. The restaurant was closed during our stay, but they provided breakfast and cooked us delicious rice and curry once.

We counted roughly 160 stairs or up steps from the roead to our door. Also, since it is in the jungle, we had a number of visitors from monkeys and squirrels on the terrace to snails and bugs in the bathroom. We didn't mind at all, but might be important for some to know. I also suggest to stop dumping trash on the territory, it is unsightly and attracts loads of monkeys.

It has a really great view! The breakfast was really good. The people there are friendly and if you want to leave your bags there before you get a bus to your next stop it’s no problem! The bathrooms were really clean and amazing warm shower. They also provide a hairdryer and a mini fridge.

We had two rooms as a group and one was really clean but in the other one were a dirty with the towels and bedding. So I guess it depends on what room you are getting a bit .

The place looks a bit not finished, some details can be improved. Bed sheet were smelling humidity and there was green paint stain (as if it was used for painting haha) but that's ok. No drink water at disposal for the guest.

Very soft and comfi beds. Nice views. I think this place recently opened, so some things are not vlear from the start. However: they can help you with everything, from renting scooters to doing laundry.

The bathroom was always wet because of the humidity and there were no tools to dry it. I would advice to put something there to dry it ourselves.

Very quiet and scenic views. Especially at night. Being out of town meant that we could enjoy the peace and quiet, and the local wildlife. Rooms were nice and big, with lots of light. Staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful.

If you have any issues with walking up countless steps then this isn't the place for you. Must be at least 50 very steap, steps to get to the hotel. Having said that, the staff carried our luggage up and down the steps for us. No wifi or restaurant available when we stayed, although breakfast was provided.

Let's start with the location- even though the view is nice, the place itself is definitely not 600 m from the centre as stated in a description. It's about 1,5 km so quite a walk up and down. Additionally at night road is really dark so it's not easy. Secondary, they don't accept credit card which is a serious drawback. Room is clean but be ready to meet with ants and other insects - it's in the forest and the room is not exactly "isolated". The staff is kind, nevertheless there are literally speaking 2 people tending all customers and only one of them is kinda speaking English. Finally, breakfast. Fruits were fresh and juicy and food in general was okay, however if we agree 7.30 breakfast - I expect to eat it at 7.30 not 40 minutes later.. especially if you're on a schedule.
