The Barefoot At Havelock

Everything was great, the position in the middle of the tropical rainforest, the most beautiful beach just in front of the resort, the multiple services offered like massages and bird watching. A SPECIAL MENTION goes to the SWIMMING ELEPHANT RESTAURANT with its wonderful staff who cuddled us with any kind of delicious suggestions and interesting conversation we had during our meals. Honorable mentions goes to Jack (hoping to meet you again!!!), to Mr. Trichlochan, the best chef we met in India and to cheerful and friendly Wohid and Ananta Mann. They all made us feel like at home with their friendly atmosphere and warm welcome!

The stay was excellent and the staffs were very kind and made our stay memorable . The radha nagar beach access is a must try feature and the best part of the stay . The staffs arranged for a celebration for my kids 1st birthday and made it memorable. Thank you Barefoot.

Barefoot is one place in Havelock that hasn’t changed in the 15 years since I first came here, and that’s what makes it special. The beach is stunning. You can walk for miles until your legs give out. The staff are good and always helpful. The jungle bar is amazing — tucked away in the trees, it’s peaceful, unique, and full of character. If you want the real, untouched Havelock experience, Barefoot delivers. Highly recommended for nature lovers who appreciate places that stay true to their roots.

Villas are getting worn out, and need renovation.

The access to the beach was fantastic, the service was impeccable, the room was lovely. The food was good, nothing to complain about. The dive, which was organised by the same company, was amazing. We saw sea turtles and octopi and various schools of fish. The best thing for me was that they had a scuba mask with my eye power. That was a game-changer. Overall, an incredible stay and experience.

The food was too expensive to justify the quantity.

This has to be THE place to stay if you want a beach stay on these islands. It is perfectly located in a forest a couple of minutes away from Radhanagar Beach. I'm rating this as top five beaches I've been to. Away from the busy end (at sunset) the private stretch of beach here is virtually unoccupied. The sea is very swimmable, no stones just pure white sand. We stayed six nights. Food is very good and not overpriced. We got a taxi over to the other side of the island to purchase some drinks for the room (see below).

We arrived on a dry day which is fine but for a few days the resort was completely without beer. I enquired at the bar for three days and they said 'maybe tomorrow'. This never made sense as they supplied a bottle to the room. I think the bar manager could have been a little more proactive here. Other staff were superb

The property is perfectly located on the best beach some say in Asia, yet has the perfect calm away from noisy city life nestled in jungles of Andaman. The facilitators especially the naturalist Prathamesh, and the reception staff Neha are outstanding; while the spa team is good too. The experiences of bird watching, marine walk on the property and scuba diving in the island take the experience to a different level,

From the moment you arrive you are treated like family. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is delicious and the tents were interesting and comfortable. Waking to the sound of birdsong every morning with no outside/manmade noise was a treat. And did I mention the beach!! Take the chance to do the morning bird watching to really experience the island waking up.

Remember to pack mozzie cream.

True to its jungle theme, the property is rustic but very comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms are big and airy. We stayed in the Andaman Villa, which had a large extended porch. The restaurant serves excellent Indian, Italian and Chinese cuisine. Their breakfast options are fantastic. Especially loved the various detoxing vegetable juices along with fresh cut fruits in the mornings. Now the best part - I don’t believe there can be any other location as heavenly as this. It’s right at the best part of Radhanagar beach. Clean, serene, calming and an exceptionally beautiful beach. The forest trail that runs along is mesmerising….home to the most spectacular trees and singing birds. Traveling with family or solo, this property is perfect for winding down, relaxing and taking it slow. Staff/ service is very good. We were usually served by Prashanto at the Swimming Elephant restaurant…. Very patient and polite. The bar was manned by very nice and friendly staff too.

Respecting the essence of being located in the forest, they have not (understandably) paved the roads/ walking paths leading up to the resort. Even the walk to the villas can be a bit tricky. Best to wear sensible flats to avoid accidents

Overpriced. you cannot ask 4-5* hotel price for tent, even in case the resort area is very nice and clean. I also read it here and it happened to me as wel -. 1 day I had two beers and next day they ran out of beers ;-)

Our stay at Barefoot Resort on Havelock Island was truly exceptional and exceeded all expectations. Nestled in the midst of lush tropical nature and just steps away from one of the most beautiful beaches in the Andaman Islands, the resort offers a perfect balance of comfort, tranquility, and authenticity. What stood out most was the outstanding service. The entire team was consistently warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome from the very first moment. Every request was handled with care and professionalism, creating a relaxed and effortless experience throughout our stay. A particular highlight was the cuisine. The food was simply excellent — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The variety and quality of the dishes were impressive, and every meal became something to look forward to. The kitchen clearly operates at a very high standard. The beach and the sea are another major highlight. The ocean is perfect for swimming, with clear, inviting water that makes it easy to spend hours in the sea. During the day, the beach remains pleasantly quiet and uncrowded, adding to the sense of exclusivity and relaxation. There are also plenty of sun loungers available, so everyone can find a comfortable spot without any hassle. The atmosphere of the resort is peaceful and immersive, ideal for those looking to disconnect and enjoy nature without sacrificing comfort. The well-maintained surroundings and thoughtful design contribute to a unique and memorable stay. The only minor downside is that some of the huts and bungalows are starting to show their age and could benefit from a bit of refurbishment. However, this does not significantly detract from the overall experience. We can wholeheartedly recommend Barefoot Resort to anyone visiting the Andaman Islands. It is a place where hospitality, quality, and natural beauty come together perfectly — and we would return without hesitation.

Der Spa

Die beste Anlage auf Havelock. Das Resort liegt an der Randhanagar Beach, ein Traum von weißem sauberem Strand und klarem Meer. Man kann jederzeit baden und muss nicht auf die Flut warten. Wir hatten ein Zelt, sehr geräumig. Das Personal ist sehr umsichtig, zweimal am Tag Zimmerservice, der Empfang ist immer besetzt.

Stühle im Zelt wären schön, es fehlt ein wenig an Ablagen bzw. Haken.

Wir sind Wiederholungstäter. Der schönste Strand von Indien, glasklares Wasser und sauberer Strand. Wer unbedingt Stadt und Unterhaltung braucht oder zur Elephant Beach will, nimmt am besten den Bus ab der Kreuzung nach Randhanagar oder für 500 INR ein Tuktuk (bis Govind Nagar). Die Zelte sind groß und gut klimatisiert. Handtücher werden täglich gewechselt, Bettwäsche nach Bedarf. Wer ein bisschen mehr Geld investieren möchte, sollte ein Nicobari Cottage nehmen.

The location is great and relaxing. In the jungle and isolated. But close enough to walk to the sea (10 mins or so).

Not much to be honest. Perhaps more beds as I am looking to book a large group but that is also part of it's charm.

Il Barefoot si trova in una posizione molto suggestiva, immerso in una vegetazione tropicale bella e rigogliosa. La sensazione è quella di essere completamente nella natura, in un ambiente tranquillo e rilassante. Anche la spiaggia è molto bella, ampia e deserta, perfetta per lunghe passeggiate.

Considerando però i prezzi piuttosto elevati, ci si aspetterebbero standard più vicini a quelli occidentali. I lodge avrebbero bisogno di una rinfrescata: sono datati e l’acqua della doccia scorre molto lentamente. Anche gli spazi esterni dei lodge sono poco curati, con mancanza di cuscini su panche e sdraio e in generale poca attenzione ai dettagli che fanno la differenza. Inoltre gli ambienti risultano meno luminosi di quanto appaia nelle foto. Capisco che gestire una struttura in un luogo così remoto comporti costi e difficoltà, ma con prezzi così alti ci si aspetterebbe una manutenzione e una cura maggiore: in alcuni momenti si ha la sensazione che la struttura sia stata un po’ lasciata andare. Il ristorante è stato un po’ deludente: prezzi alti ma qualità del cibo non all’altezza. La spa non mi ha particolarmente convinto: l’ho trovata poco rilassante e con poca attenzione alla pulizia. La spiaggia è molto bella e tranquilla, ma il mare è spesso mosso e con correnti forti, quindi non sempre ideale per fare il bagno. Non aspettatevi i classici lettini: si possono prendere delle stuoie per sistemarsi un po’ più lontano dall’ingresso della spiaggia, mentre le sdraio rimangono vicino all’accesso alla spiaggia in “stile fai da te”. Nel complesso è un posto piacevole per fermarsi 2-3 giorni di relax, ma non lo sceglierei come unica destinazione per una vacanza alle Andamane. Consiglio inoltre di portare qualcosa contro i sand fly, che possono essere piuttosto fastidiosi.

The Barefoot was a paradise where the forest meets the sea, rich in bird and accessible marine life.

Fabulous beach, extremely helpful and caring staff, beautiful location in the jungle. Just stunning. Delicious food. Not fancy at all, very down to earth, but just right for the setting and for the relaxing vibe.

Only thing that was noticed was a musty/moldy smell in the rooms which I guess must be because of the bamboo (used for the ceilings/roofs) and its age….there must be a treatment to avoid this….

Location, Location! Barefoot has the perfect location nestled under the rainforest canopy on Havelock’s most beautiful beach. The bungalow had a comfortable bed, the food was great, the chai tea at sunset was a wonderful touch. We also enjoyed the tree trail leaflet explaining the amazing trees. Perfect combination of comfort and natural beauty.

My one suggestion to guests is bring some insect repellent. The rooms have mosquito netting over the beds which were great but when you are at the beach in the evening inspect repellent is helpful.

A fantastic beach, white sands, safe to swim and very few people., Unfortunately lots of sand flies.

Room was damp, bed linen always felt damp and pretty sure had bed bugs or fleas. Very dark room so couldn’t tell if it was clean but bathroom was dirty as photos. When we raised this with manager she just said keep the air con on to dry out! Air con only worked when we were in the room and couldn’t sleep with it as felt like gale force wind. Asked for Kingfisher at Bar as on menu but only had Budweiser and only 2 bottles and then no beer at all. Food in restaurant ok but staff miserable and unhelpful. We ate out after the first night as could get beers at Venom Bar in town half the price of hotel and great food at Full Moon Cafe,definitely worth the tuk tuk 25 minute trip each way. Overall a disappointing stay.

Location of this property is the best feature. Another best part was that there was huge variety of eating options across breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don’t recall repeating our dishes in our 6 night stay. Went with 2 toddlers and the staff was very accommodating to prepare food especially for kids.

It's a very beautiful location, situated in the forest, near the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. There is no crowd, you can nicely walk in the forest or along the beach or sit on a chair on the beach or have a swim in the sea. At night you can watch the stars, we could even see the milky way. The service in the hotel is excellent just as the food in the restaurant. All in all it had been a very relaxing stay, we hope to be able to come again.

Incredible landscape: the jungle trees and the beach are absolutely breathtaking and mesmerizing. The food in the restaurant is excellent, and the service throughout the property is outstanding. The room is clean, with a comfortable bed and a wonderful hot shower. Very good bathroom facilities, eco-minded. Quiet, slow, and very peaceful. Would love to come back one day.

Terrible bug bites for my partner and me by day 3. Wish the property had cautioned us again to protect ourselves during check-in about sand flies/fleas. (possible bugs in the room) Also, there was a strong mold smell in the room, making it difficult to sleep.

Absolutely exceptional!. This eco-resort went above and beyond 'accommodation' to give us a truly memorable experience. Every single staff member we interacted with- from the relations manager to the bar staff and the in-house naturalist- went out of their way to make sure we, and our older parents, had a fantastic time. I also really appreciate how much they love the island, and all the beautiful nature it has to offer, while also being so mindful and respectful of it. The resort itself is beautiful with direct access to a relatively unspoiled and secluded part of the Radhanagar beach. Walks through the forest, evening cocktails and yummy meals only added to an already perfect time. We will be back for sure!

We loved this property! We spent such a wonderful three days at Barefoot, it is going to be a memory for life! The reasons I loved this property so much: - so different from others, with the emphasis on being closer to nature. - yet providing all the modern facilities, one needs, without being over the top - Having the best of staff, attentive and warm - with access to the best beach of the Andamans, more or less to ourselves! - having wonderful nature themed activities that one can enjoy

The short walk through the coastal forest leading to the most beautiful beach really felt like a little piece of paradise, with true desert-island vibes. The staff were exceptional throughout my stay—so attentive, warm, and genuinely going above and beyond every single day. Special mention to the barman for his incredible cocktails, the waiter for his excellent dinner recommendations, and the housekeeping gentleman who ensured my room was immaculately made up and turned down daily. The thoughtful touches made the experience even more special: fresh cookies in my room each day, Christmas cake, and a complimentary bottle of wine were all very much appreciated. As a solo traveller looking for relaxation, this was the perfect place to stay. The lodge itself is beautifully laid out, and I stayed in a tented cottage which was very comfortable—though worth noting there is limited natural light, so it can feel a little dark. Land and sea activities can be booked directly through the lodge, which was very convenient, and the guest relations manager was incredibly friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Barefoot to anyone looking for a peaceful, special getaway.

La posizione è meravigliosa. Sulla spiaggia più bella dell’isola dalla quale si vedono meravigliosi tramonti.

Il resort è il primo nato sull’isola. Avrebbe bisogno di una ristrutturazione. I bungalow e le ville sono tutti in legno , ma soprattutto la nostra aveva la porta d’ingresso con due centimetri più alta del pavimento dalla quale sarebbero potuti entrare insetti o altro . Basterebbe mettere un piccolo battente per evitare qualsiasi inconveniente.

The beach access was fantastic. The evening herbal tea at sunset made the experience very special. Food was good, basic and functional. The rooms were clean, neat, distraction-free, allowed us to be very relaxed.

The staff (both at this resort and those handling activities) were unable to coordinate properly. Pick ups that were scheduled had to be reminded multiple times. Water activities were “unavailable” and no prior intimation was given at the time of booking to confirm these activities.

obwohl ich lediglich in einem (zusätzlich) überdachten Wohnzelt (Tent) untergebracht war, habe ich mich während meines 1 wöchigen Aufenthalts recht wohl gefühlt ! Das (ausschliesslich männliche) Reinigungs-Personal war außerordentlich zuvorkommend als auch vorausschauend ! Habe ich in Indien selten wo erlebt ! Sehr gutes Hoteleigenes Restaurant / äußerst prompte Bedienung ! Obwohl das sehr gute Frühstück zwar unüblicherweise (a la Carte) serviert, hat es keine Wünsche offen gelassen.

Obwohl ich bereits beim Check-In nach den Fähr-Transport-Zeiten (bei meiner Anreise) vorausschauend gefragt wurde, ich am Vorabend den (zu diesen Zeitpunkt allerdings noch nicht organisierten) Transport nochmals hinterfragt als auch vergütet habe, hat dieser am nächsten Tag leider nicht geklappt. Nachdem das nicht erschienene Taxi bereits fast 20 min überfällig war, wurde dieser mit einem Hotel eigenen Fahrzeug organisiert. Letztendlich habe ich meinen Katamaran gerade noch 15 min ! vor der Abfahrt erreicht !

Barefoot@Havelock has everything...natural forest, good accommodation, great food, super staff & a gorgeous location on Radhanagar Beach. 10 on 10. There are 3 types of accommodation....tented cottages, Andaman twin Cottages & a single exclusive Nicobari Cottage spread over the wooded property.

Our A. C Stop working at both nights we spent there..Furniture was too less in the room..no chair ..no wardrobe ..Breakfast was a total disappointment..They charge you like a 5 Star with 2 star services..Big Time No With Kids..No swimming pool ..No T.v ..No Bathtub..

We loved everything about this place! We had the tented cottage and the room itself was amazing, but the bathroom due to open roof sides, made me a little apprehensive at times especially night. Everything is kept impeccably clean, staff are all so friendly and lovely you feel right at home and part of a little community. The environmental ethics and the character of it is just paradise.

Would like bathroom roof to be more closed off to the outside elements.

tastefully done property on one of the best beaches ever. a good balance between being eco-conscious and offering a very comfortable stay. separate access to a quiet section of the beach, thankfully away from the commercial, touristy parts. staff were all very good, and made us felt very welcome.

Very nice and relaxing place. A big propert in the jungle. The buildings for reception and restaurant were great. Good food and very good breakfast. Close to the fantastic Beach.

We had the tented cottage. They were a bit to humid and smelled a little.

The concept is novel , one feels like living in the heart of nature . It’s just a few meters off the Radhanagar Beach . The tents / huts are stylishly constructed . The restaurant serves gourmet class dishes . The small bar is well stacked .

It’s a bit pricey at times . The property provides free shuttle only to the water sport site & that too fixed time only a few times in the day . There should be more shuttles at reasonable price

Resort originale situato in una posizione unica davanti ad una delle più belle spiaggie mai viste con tramonti memorabili. Staff cortese e disponibile.

Con 20 mq di bagno il lavandino poteva anche essere un poco più grande.

Ottimo hotel, dedicato agli amanti della natura. I bungalow sono (comodamente) sparsi nella foresta, con accesso privato alla spiaggia più bella di Havelock. La cucina è varia e curata, davvero ottima anche per gli italiani!

Qualche sdraio in più sulla spiaggia, ma non ho capito se è un problema di "suolo pubblico", perché è così anche in alberghi che costano il triplo.

A peaceful oasis of calm with charming caring staff. It has the best location right on Radhanager beach which was until sunset time mainly just our own . The food was great and the cocktails packed a punch . Great bird walking tour which I highly recommend and enjoyed the fruit bats

Location was excellent. All the staff were extremely friendly. The whole place oozed an atmosphere of peace and calm.

The breakfast was somewhat uninspiring with same items of fruit offered each morning. Also, they are missing a huge trick here regarding the small on-site shop. Absolutely nothing to purchase whereas we would have bought a load of branded T-Shirts, Caps etc (you could do some wonderful branding around "Barefoot").

Wer Freude daran hat, inmitten des Dschungels zu wohnen, mit hunderten von Fledermäusen in den Bäumen direkt vor der Tür, mit allabendlichem Krötenkonzert und zahllosen Schmetterlingen, und wer sich den Genuss des täglich wechselndem Sonnenuntergangskinos auch von ein paar Moskito-Stichen und Sandmücken-Bissen am Strand nicht vermiesen lässt, der ist mit einer Villa-Hut im Barefoot perfekt bedient. Wir hatten zunächst ein Tent-Cottage, das jedoch extrem weit von der Rezeption und dem Restaurant entfernt war. Da meine Partnerin eine Gehbehinderung aufweist, war der lange Weg insbesondere im Dunkeln und wenn der Untergrund vom Regen aufgeweicht war, extrem beschwerlich für sie. Als ich an der Rezeption nach der Möglichkeit eines Wechsels in ein näher gelegenes Tent-Cottage fragte, wurden wir mit einem kostenlosen Upgrade auf eine Villa-Hut überrascht. Wir wissen dieses Entgegenkommen sehr zu schätzen und bedanken uns ausdrücklich! Auch sonst haben wir als "Langzeitgäste" (14 Tage) immer wieder eine Vorzugsbehandlung genossen. Hervorzuheben ist die grandiose Qualität des Restaurants, wo man wirklich darum bemüht ist, dem Gast einen individuellen Service zukommen zu lassen. Besonders hilfreich war dabei unser "Privat"-Kellner Wohid, der uns als kundiger Führer durch die vielfältigen Genüsse der indischen Küche geleitet hat. Die Rezeption ist nur 5 Fußminuten von dem traumhaften Sandstrand Radha Nagar entfernt. Wenn man das Spiel mit den Wogen mag, ist ein Bad sehr zu empfehlen, zumal das Resort eigene Lifeguards hat. Ein entspanntes Schwimmen war in den von uns erlebten 14 Tagen Ende Oktober wegen des starken Seegangs zu keinem Zeitpunkt möglich.

Moskito-Stiche und Sandmücken-Bisse, aber es gibt kein irdisches Paradies ohne Makel...
