Villetta - Matakana Country Escape

This was our last stop on our tour through New Zealand and we are so happy we got to spend four days at the Villetta and surrounding area. The Villetta is perfectly nestled against a hillside and set in a garden of banana trees, olive trees and beautiful flowers. We loved sitting outside on the terrace and listen to the native birds sing. The inside of the Villetta is tastefully arranged and the kitchen is fully stocked. The bed very comfortable and the linens are so luxurious. The location is close to Matakana where we explored shops and restaurants. On Saturday's there is a farmers market which is phenomenal! The beach is a 10 minute drive, there are lots of hiking options around the area. Kim and Mr. Miko are the most gracious hosts you will ever meet. They made us feel so welcome and we look forward to visiting them again in the future.

Beautiful, quiet spot just outside of Matakana but super close to everything in the area. The property was super idyllic and Kim was a helpful and kind host with lots of recommendations for the local area. Very comfortable accomodation and exactly as described. Loved it!

Was no problem to us at all but note that the second bedroom and the bathroom are accessed through the first bedroom so if privacy is a concern keep this in mind.

Location is great and outdoor area good. It was very clean

This is definitely not luxury or boutique and should not be advertised as this. This is actually a converted garage with all that goes with that - condensation, cold, damp, odd layout, no space in kitchen area. There is actually only one bedroom with a closing door so you have to walk through the other area with a bed to get to the bathroom. The beds, although made beautifully, seemed like they were cheap beds with very soft toppers so when two people were laying in them it formed a hump in the middle of and you almost fell out each side 🤣! In fact one member of our party who admittedly does have a dicey back drove back to Auckland to sleep as the bed would have been the end of him walking for the rest of the weekend. This unit should be advertised as a one bedroom with a separate area for kids to sleep. It is not suitable for two couples.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villetta which is a beautiful property set in an idyllic environment. It was fantastic to relax and chill out in this immaculate property with first class amenities. Kim was a lovely host who provided us with great information on local attractions and eateries. We would definitely stay again!

Kim greeted us warmly, and it was a pleasure chatting with her. The accommodation exceeded our expectations, offering everything we needed and more. I highly recommend this place, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Lovely friendly and helpful host. The unit is private, modern and has everything you need. The bed is super comfortable! There is a fantastic outdoor area, plus a large section of private land with trees and plants and seating areas. The area around the property is beautiful, its very private and quiet. Just a 5 minute drive to Matakana village, beaches, cafes/restaurants and other places to visit are all close by.

This is a beautifully curated property with lovely considered details such as vintage cutlery, luxury towels and linen, king size beds and nice decor. The setting is picturesque, and you can hear the native birds. Our hostess was very hospitable, even giving us some organic produce from her garden to take with us. Although remote, the property is located a few mins drive from Matakana and surrounding restaurants and vineyards. Highly recommend.

Everything from our arrival to our departure was absolutely perfect. Kim and Mr. Miko were such wonderful hosts. We’ll definitely be back next summer!

Stunning place set in the most beautiful garden. The owner - Kim is super lovely and so responsive, we loved playing with Mr Miko as well and had the best stay. We stayed here with my bridal party and on the wedding night and had stunning photos with the surroundings of the house. Had everything we needed.

Lovely location, peaceful setting and private. So well set up with all the comforts and quality furnishings. Super comfortable beds and so clean and attractively decorated. A lovely spot to relax within close proximity to cafes, beaches, places of interest and shops.

Peaceful location close to Matakana. Perfect spot for relaxing, as well as easy access to lots of places to visit. Our host was wonderful.

The special welcome from Mr Miko and the sweet treats on arrival made us feel at home. This property is modern, extremely clean and comfortable in a quiet location surrounded by trees and birdlife, perfect for our small family to enjoy a relaxing weekend without being too remote. The comfort level of the beds and linen are very high, we all slept extremely well. Kim takes great pride in maintaining her property to a very high standard, making sure you have an enjoyable and refreshing stay. We will visit again and would highly recommend a stay here to others.

The location was secluded, away from the road with lots of bird life and the house close to native bush without blocking the sun. The house itself was very comfortable, warm and cosy.

Fabulous location, in a beautiful valley. Plenty of green space around the property. Very comfortable and well appointed house. Lovely bathroom, super-comfortable beds and hugely welcoming host!

Nothing jumps out. Was perfect for our family of 4. Twin beds in the second bedroom might be needed if you have teenagers.

Our stay here was amazing! We had an exceptional view to wake up to and its very private, so many native birds in the area which was so cool! The hotel it self is a 10/10 for sure! So tidy/flash and has everything you need! Beds are soooooo comfortable i slept like a baby and didnt want to wake up, perfect for my dad who normally gets back problems! Its also located right in the centre of all the beaches which was great for our fishing trip, The owner Kim is soooo nice and very welcoming! She goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and enjoy your stay, i highly reccommend staying here if your looking for a great place to relax it was definitely a 10/10 stay for us. I would definitely come back!

Beautiful location—peaceful. The accommodation was more luxurious than we expected. Cozy and spacious. Kim was very gracious and accommodating. Attentive but respectful of our privacy. Close to Sawmill Brewery where we had the yummy chicken and fries (and great beer).

It's excellent. Great location. Quiet. lots of natural fruits, ready to be plucked. Fabulous amenities.

Addition of electric car charger will be a desirable add.

We would definitely stay here again. The villetta is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Set amongst mature trees, the location is very peaceful and private but still close to restaurants, vineyards and local markets. Kim was an exceptional host - very friendly and helpful.

Host was amazing very welcoming and gave suggestions on places to eat and visit. Highly recommend good location.
