Location was perfect for our holiday ambitions of enjoying ancient Kilkenny , with plenty of local cafes and restaurants nearby.

Could be noisy . Assess not suitable for older folk.

The room was spacious and bright and extremely clean.

The location was perfect, it was clean, big comfortable bed, there was a fan for us to use.

Could use a little maintenance in the bathroom but overall it was a very nice stay

We really liked this place overall. The location was very central, which was ideal for some things like walking to attractions, shops, and restaurants. It was very clean and well taken care of. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, the bed was comfortable, and the wall decor was lovely. They also provided a few extras like slippers, earplugs, and a couple of biscuits. We also thought it was really cool that it is right off a "slip", or little medieval alley way.

The location is also a bit of a minus as there is no parking. There is a lot just a couple of minutes walk away, but it is very busy and getting a spot can be difficult. There's also nobody on site or any kind of reception, as it's just a bunch of rooms - likely a converted old apartment complex. This was fine for us, but if there had been an issue, I'm not sure how it would have been resolved without someone to contact. It was also quite pricey without being exceptional, but I do understand that you are paying for the central location.

It was very comfortable and close to everything.

Stairs and road noise

The property was in an ideal location and very clean. I was very very impressed by the amenities also. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Location was prime for walking. Fully equipped, prepared for summeer heat wave with fan was a big plus.

As a result of the heatwave we had the windows open. Noise from delivery trucks was a bit bothersome.

Very central location beside everything. Very clean and tidy. You can park overnight across the road in a safe car park. Wasn’t sure where to grab breakfast but there is an artisan cafe does all breakfast underneath the property. Owner was helpful to sort all out.

Excellent location, right in the middle of the Medieval Mile. We were in the Winter Heron room, I believe, which was decorated simply, but beatifully. It was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The bed was huge, and the bathroom was really nice. I only communicated with staff through the app, but they included thorough instructions for finding the place and checking in ourselves. There is no AC, but there was a fan provided in the wardrobe, which was very much appreciated.

When booking the room, I tried to see which floor the available rooms where on. It wasn't listed and we ended up on the top (3rd) floor, which was accessed via a very tight, steep, staircase. Being a self-check in type of location, listing the floor each room is on might be helpful for those who may have mobility issues. You do get noise from the pubs below at night, but it really was only a small issue on the weekend nights we were there. Also, this would only be an issue for short legged people like myself, but the toilet in the bathroom was really tall. I could barely reach the floor when sitting on it.

The location and room were exactly what we had hoped for. We dined at the Playwright, directly across the Slip. The town is a must for any traveler making their way through the Emerald Isle.

Unfortunately the entrance was a little lack luster. The staircase smelled sour, there was a hole in the drywall behind the door, HOWEVER!! Once we got to out room - none of that mattered. The room was pristine and comfortable. The room was spacious and you cannot beat the location of the Slip. We had a great time - and loved our accomodation!

The location was absolutely wonderful, right in the centre of town. Check in was seamless and easy, and the room was spacious and comfy with great amenities.

This is not due to the property but due to the location - it was a little noisy at night! Only because of the pubs below. Thankfully, they provide a fan so you can keep the windows closed overnight without getting too hot.

I was glad that I had read the previous reviews about the steep/narrow circular stairs- if I hadn't, those would've been a tricky surprise.

The entrance was very tiny. Room 1 had windows facing two different bars. Could hear the music until midnight.

We had a great stay at Market Slip. The location was perfect — centrally located and walkable to everything in Kilkenny. The room had thoughtful touches like complimentary bottled water and a standing fan, which we really appreciated. The shower was great and the included toiletries were a nice bonus. We stayed on a Friday night and could hear a little music outside, but it was minimal and never disrupted our sleep. Would absolutely recommend and would stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at the market slip house, there was a few stairs to climb to get to our top floor rooms Rm3 and Rm4, which were slightly narrow and winding but once you’re up there with your luggage the hard work is done… it was so much easier going up and back down without cases… but don’t let this put you off, you could always ask for a lower floor I suppose We opened the doors to 2 beautifully decorated rooms, a lot of thought has gone into these to make into a boutique style bedroom/bathroom very highly recommended

There was nothing we didn’t like about the property, if I have 1 negative it was paring our car for the overnight stay No parking outside the property as it’s down a little alleyway off the Main Street so parking was in a main car park… and lots off them I may add but we misread as.. we couldn’t park overnight, but turns out you can, we ended up in the Market Cross multi storey shopping centre just 3 mins across the road

The location was perfect. Staying on the Medieval Mile allowed us to explore everything we were hoping to...Kilkenny Castle, the cathedrals, all the shops/pubs/restaurants/etc. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the room was cozy.

It's not that I didn't like it, but the stairs leading up to the room are narrow. When carrying heavy luggage up to the room, it can be a bit challenging. But hey, that's part of the fun of travel. It's a very minor inconvenience. Everything else about the place is wonderful.

Perfect central location. We were able to see everything we wanted, and easy to find food and pubs in the evenings. Clean rooms and comfortable beds.

Parking was well explained, but we arrived at a tough time of day. All in all it was manageable, just be aware of busier times for arrival.

The room was lovely! The shower was wonderful. The water fluctuated in pressure but if you turn the knobs a bit back and forth the pressure improves. Very comfy bed!

The climb to rooms 3 and 4. I don’t know if I missed that upon booking but it is a climb on spiral stairs. Since I was bringing my parents in their 70s, that was challenging but they said the room made up for it.

Heating seemed to be malfunctioning, was cold. Did not get satisfactory response from management.

Narrow entrance way and staircase.

Ideal location. Right where we wanted to be for exploring everything Kilkenny has to offer. Bed was very comfortable and loads of shops and bars easily accessible to us.

Very basic- just the room but if that’s all you need like us then nothing negative. It was very loud but suited us as people that wanted to go out and explore and didn’t mind being up late at night.

Super location with car park close by. Bright & clean. Comfy bed, pillows & linens. Great shower & nice toiletries Nice tea/coffee/kettle. HUGE mirror. TV had numerous channels. We called staff on our arrival and got immediate response.

On arrival our room #4 top floor, was cold. We had to keep coats on. We called staff, and got immediate call back from very nice man. We were told to open the valves on bottom of radiator, which we did, but our room never warmed up. Thankfully the weather warmed a bit so our room did. *The staircase is very narrow ^ winds*

Wonderful location right on the High Street. Comfy bed, excellent shower and a mini fridge! Very clean upon arrival.

A bit chilly and couldn’t see where to control the temperature. There was no info regarding housekeeping and we noticed they entered every day to take trash. Would have been nice with a heads-up. Toilet leaked from the bottom.

This hotel was beautiful and fun! The bar and restaurant were great. The best fish and chips we had on our trip. The outside area is so beautiful!

Not a criticism but an observation: This accommodation would not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties as the stairs are narrow and tricky to navigate.

Right in the middle of the old town the Market Slip House is quirky but modern and spacious inside. Access is via a very narrow windy staircase. Nice stylish room and good bathroom

A group of guys was hanging in the alley right outside the door until pretty late and being pretty loud but nothing to do with the actual accommodations.
