The room was spacious, immaculately clean and the bed very comfortable. There was a very large fridge for communal use. The family were wonderful and the breakfast was superb.

Heel goede homestay! De kamers zijn modern en groot en bevinden zich op de eerste verdieping van het huis, de familie, die heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam is, woont beneden. We hebben er ook een ochtend heerlijk ontbeten en ontvingen bij vertrek verschillende cadeautjes. We raden deze homestay aan iedereen die Anuradhapura wil bezoeken aan!

Los dueños son encantadores, el sitio es muy amplio y limpio, la cama comodísima y el desayuno una maravilla. Además acordamos con ellos la recogida en el aeropuerto y nos vinieron a buscar a las 3 de la madrugada que era la hora a la que llegaba el avión al aeropuerto de Colombo. De camino paramos a desayunar con ellos en un sitio muy local y nuestro viaje no pudo empezar de mejor manera. Además nos hicieron unas pulseras el día que nos fuimos. Lo recomiendo 100%.

Sehr saubere Unterkunft. Die Familie ist super nett, freundlich und unglaublich aufmerksam. Zur Begrüßung gab's leckere Smoothies. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen sind der Wahnsinn..Unser bestes homemade singhalesisches Essen. Der Besitzer vermittelte uns noch einen super Tuktuk Fahrer, der uns die tollen Ausgrabungen und Tempel von Anuraduphura in 4 Stunden gezeigt hat. Zudem noch ein Taxi für die Fahrt zurück nach Negombo..

We had a wonderful stay here! The rooms are clean and very comfortable, and the accommodation is well located for visiting the sites of Anuradhapura. The hosts are incredibly generous and hospitable. They did everything to make us feel comfortable and helped us organize our visits. And above all, we had the best Sri Lankan breakfast of our entire trip!!! Thank you again for the little gifts when we left

The owners make the difference here. They are very polite, helpful and nice people and were the best hosts we had in Sri Lanka.

It is next to the railway tracks, so you should bring ear plugs. But as there is not so much train traffic especially at night it is not that bad.

Werden goed ontvangen met wat te drinken en wat lekkers. De eigenaar is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam! We hebben daar ontbeten en dat was heerlijk. De kamer was groot en schoon. Ik beveel deze accommodatie aan!

Les chambres sont grandes et très propres, le matelas confortable. C'est bien situé. La famille est très serviable et disponible.

😅chambre (n°103) qui donne sur un balcon vue sans charme face à une voie de chemin de fer le train passe 2 fois dans la nuit...nous avons mal dormi. Le business de la famille est bien rodé ici on vous parle en dollars. Nous avons pris un repas le soir copieux mais loin des saveurs des plats typiques du pays que nous avons mangé durant notre voyage.

Propreté impeccable, chambre confortable au calme, dans une impasse. Situé dans la nouvelle ville, l’hôtel est à une quinzaine de minutes des principaux centres d’intérêt. Le « patron » nous a permis de partir faire un safari à Wilpattu et, faisant office de taxi, nous a conduit lui-même à Sigiryia.

The family was very, very nice. They helped out with ideas and even a free ride to a site and the busstation. The house is modern. Breakfast and dinner are supurb. Communication is a breeze. The tuktuk driver Jana is ‘connected’ to the owner. He was also very knowledgeable and relaxed. We had a great couple of days with him.

清潔です。そして、とにかくスタッフというか銀行を退職してこのホテルを経営し始めたご主人の対応と笑顔が素晴らしかった。なんとか心地よく過ごしてほしいと一生懸命なのがわかりました。 次の目的地に行くバススタンドまで結構な距離があったが、笑顔で送ってくれて、次の目的地へのバスも聞いて教えてくれた。問題なく着いて助かりました。 あと、1回1000LKRのレンタル自転車を無料にしてくれました。日本から輸入した？自転車も古いけどちゃんと整備されていたと思います。

・Wi-Fiが弱くて不安定　これは困りました。 ・カード決済が使えず、現金支払いなこと　スタートアップで仕方ないのかもしれませんが。 以上は、ぜひ改善してください。 ・食事の量が少し多いかな。私も少食ですが、同宿のフランス人も残していました。SDGsの観点からするとどうかなと。

Tout était parfait

Grosszügige, saubere, angenehme Unterkunft in sehr ruhiger Umgebung. Leckeres Frühstück, sehr hilfsbereites und liebenswürdiges Besitzerehepaar. Haben uns zwischendurch mit Früchten und Leckereien verwöhnt, unsere Kleider gewaschen und der Besitzer brachte uns am Schluss noch kostenlos zur nahegelegenen Busstation. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen. Haben auch die Zeit oben auf der gedeckten Terrasse zum Lesen sehr geschätzt.

Alles war zu unserer Zufriedenheit.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay here! Mr. Mahinda and his wife were incredibly accommodating, doing everything they could to make us feel at home. Seriously, nothing was too much trouble for them. We had hoped for a rooftop terrace, but it turned out to be a floor still under construction. No problem, though—Mr. Mahinda immediately set us up with two chairs on our balcony. They are such warm and caring people; it honestly felt like staying with family. The Sri Lankan meals were not only delicious but also incredibly generous. They also perfectly arranged our Wilpattu safari, plus a tuk-tuk and guide for our visit to Anuradhapura. And to top it all off, the couple drove us to Trincomalee in their comfortable car for the next part of our adventure. What a truly wonderful experience! We would absolutely love to come back here again.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful — the room was very comfortable and stylish, easily comparable to a 3- or 4-star hotel. We felt completely safe and at home. The location is okay, but what makes this place truly special is the amazing owner and their lovely family. We had a fantastic home-cooked dinner, and they even helped us catch our early morning train. As we left, they handed us a beautifully prepared breakfast box with a sweet surprise :) Experiences like this are rare not just in Anueadhapura, but all across Sri Lanka. Highly recommended — thank you for everything!

こんな素敵な宿がこの世にあっていいのか？というくらい、まさにエメラルドのような素敵な宿。元銀行員のマヒンダさんご夫妻が経営するこの宿は、部屋は広くて綺麗、温水シャワー・エアコン・WIFIばっちり、無料のレンタル自転車完備、その自転車で遺跡を巡るのにも便利なロケーション。そしてなんと言っても食事が半端ない。残念ながら夕食はとれなかったが、スリランカ料理のフルコースとも言えるボリューミーな朝食、これぞスリランカという感じの手作りカレーのランチ。最後にはお土産のお茶までいただき、喜びを通り越して申し訳なくなるくらいでした。また、宿で紹介いただいたTuk Tukドライバーには、ガイドブックには絶対に載っていない場所に沢山連れて行っていただきました。どうもありがとうございました。

Wundervolle Gastgeber, die sich außerordentlich bemühen und um alles kümmern. Unser Zimmer war groß, sauber und bestens ausgestattet. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet. Absolut überragend war das Abendessen. Sooooo lecker und mehr als reichhaltig. Ein grandioser Genuss. Vermutlich das beste Restaurant in Sri Lanka.

Die Dusche würde sicher besser abgelaufen, wenn die Schutzaufkleber entfernt werden würden.

The room is well equipped and the neighborhood is calm by night, we slept very well! The shower was not so clean, but the rest of the room was clean! The host and his wife are very kind and helpful. The food is generous and delicious, much better than some restaurants in the area!

Wir hatten einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt im Emeralds Homestay! Bandara und seine Frau sowie die ganze Familie waren unglaublich herzlich und zuvorkommend. Wir durften die Fahrräder ausleihen und als wir komplett durchgeschwitzt von der Altstadtbesichtigung zurückgekehrt sind, haben sie uns Früchte mit Vanillaeis serviert. Das Frühstück ist sehr reichhaltig und weil wir nicht alles essen konnten, haben sie uns das für den Weg eingepackt. Die Zimmer sind gross und sehr sauber! Ich kann Emerald Homestay nur empfehlen und würde immer wieder zurückkehren!

Nur zu empfehlen! Schönes, großes und absolut sauberes Zimmer mit allem was man braucht. Die Gastgeber sind unfassbar freundlich und sehr bemüht. Es wurde auch spontan für den nächsten Tag noch eine Safari für den Wilpattu Nationalpark organisiert und wurden vom Gastgeber selbst zum Nationalpark gefahren. Das Essen war wirklich wirklich toll und es wurde immer sehr aufwendig (typische Landesküche) gekocht. Am Ende wurde auch noch ein Vesperpaket für uns gerichtet, da beim Frühstück was übrig geblieben ist. Zusammengefasst: gerne jederzeit wieder :)

We've never given a 10 rating before, but we would give 11 if we could. Bandara & Nilmini are the best hosts: kind, generous, honest and helpful. We felt truly cared for the whole time we were there. Nilmini's cooking was hands down the best we had in Sri Lanka. Every breakfast and dinner she brought us different delicious dishes. We are foodies/cooks, and she helped us understand the different ingredients and their uses both culinary and medicinal, and even made me an Ayurvedic tea for my annoying cough. Bandara organised a Wilpattu trip for us which was fantastic. He also charged very reasonable rates to drive us anywhere we wanted to go. We appreciated his comfy car after many a public bus journey. Our room was clean, airy and comfy. Location is perfect for exploring Anuradhapura. We will be back next time we're in Sri Lanka!

The hosts are just so lovely and sweet. I arrived about 9pm which was probably too late for dinner for them but they still whipped me up some curry and desert which was delicious. All the food they provided was yummy and plentiful. He also really helped me by organising a Wilpattu safari for me, and they drove me to Kandy as well (I paid for them for these things but they really went out of their way to help organise for me). Lastly on the journey to Kandy they could see I was very tired so they actually stopped to by me a pillow for me to rest my head on! The room was modern and clean with an en suite, everything you need. Can’t recommend highly enough

Ruime comfortabele kamer. Konden gratis fietsen gebruiken. Hebben er heerlijk gegeten. Was wel veel teveel. Ontbijt was ook super goed en heel veel. Lieve gastheer en gastvrouw.

De douche was wat onhandig. Uit de regendouche kwam alleen koud water. Uit de gewone douche kwam erg warm water en lukte niet goed om de temperatuur te verlagen. Kan ook aan ons gelegen hebben. In het plaatsje is niet veel te doen en restaurants zijn lastig te vinden. Daar kan de eigenaar niets aan doen maar wel goed om te weten.

De gastheer en zijn vrouw waren ontzettend aardig. De gastheer bracht ons met de auto naar een restaurant en de volgende dag naar het treinstation. Het ontbijt was werkelijk onovertroffen!!

We spent four days at Emerald Home Stay and felt as being home! Wonderful and very very helpful hosts! Thank you very much! Breakfast and dinner were extremely good! We had a spacious and comfortable room with AC. We even were brought to the bus terminal when we left.

Nous avons eu un très bon accueil avec fruits, gâteaux et jus de fruits. Nous étions attendus. Tout le monde était aux petits soins pour nous. Le petit déjeuner est excellent et varié. Tout est propre et les serviettes de bain sont douces et grandes. Très bien situé.

Het ontbijt was geweldig en overvloedig. De gastvrijheid van de eigenaar en zijn vrouw waren geweldig. De eigenaar heeft 2x een tuk tuk voor ons geregeld en ook de excursie naar wilpattu. De eigenaar en zijn vrouw hebben ons met hun eigen auto naar Trincomalee gebracht en het afscheid was heel erg hartelijk.

It was my favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka, and we stayed at many fantastic places with great people. What was special is that our hosts treated us like family, were always happy to have a chat, and really went above and beyond to be helpful - they helped us get to the train station, buy a train ticket and many other small things. Apart from that: - the home-cooked food is delicious (and portions are quite large). - they can rent bikes - the Ancient City is 20 minutes away - the room are newly refurbished, clean, with some nice touches (the tea bags, etc) Thank you so much for your kindness and your hospitality. This is a special place.

We slept 4 nights in Emerald Home Stay. One new and beautiful hotel in Anuradhapura.... A spacious room with balcony and a large bathroom with lovely hot water. In addition, the owner and his wife are very nice people. Nothing is too much. They cooked delicious food for us. With the owner we have an excursion to Wilpattu National Park booked. The owner of the hotel took us here and picked us up. His wife was interested in Wilpattu National Park provided a delicious breakfast and lunch. They are very nice, hospitable people. There are several ATM machines and a supermarket a 10-minute walk from the hotel.... Directly opposite the hotel is a bakery and a simple restaurant. We would highly recommend this hotel....

Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber & modern, warme Dusche, alles war perfekt. Die Gastgeber sind äusserst herzlich und servierten sehr leckeres Frühstück & Abendessen. Am nächsten Tag brachte uns der Gastgeber sogar mit dem Auto zum Busbahnhof.

Je vais répéter ce que tout le monde pense lorsqu'il passe à Emerald home stay. Des chambres très propres,une literie ,une clim et wifi parfaites.Des repas,non seulement gargantuesque mais aussi succulents.Merci à l'adorable couple qui gèrent cette guesthouse ainsi qu'à leurs enfants. Parlons de la famille : elle restera dans mes beaux souvenirs du Sri Lanka. Ils sont tellement chaleureux, empathiques et généreux. Ils ne savent pas quoi faire pour nous aider. D'ailleurs ils nous ont organisé nos 2 journées. Ils nous ont accompagné à l'hôpital, à la gare gratuitement. MERCIIII et MERCIIII encore

De mensen waren onwijs aardig. Ze hebben een Safari voor ons geregeld en ons persoonlijk gebracht en gehaald met een vers gemaakt ontbijtje. In de avond hebben ze heerlijk voor ons gekookt!

De locatie is goed te doen met tuktuks die je overal heen kunnen brengen. Verder waren er niet veel restaurants in de omgeving.

The owner of the hotel is very polite and kind. We arrived earlier than expected, but they readily accommodated us with a room. Moreover they offer marvelous breakfast and clean spacious room. as a four or five stars hotel! We were really satisfied with our stay.

The room was amazing and very neat. It looked like a proper hotel room but at the same time the place had the welcoming ambiance of a homestay due to its lovely owners. They made a breakfast which was the best we have had! So definitely 10/10 recommend!

Das riesige Kingsize Bed ließ uns schlafen wie Könige! Wir erlebten im Emerald Homestay das größte und leckerste Frühstück und Abendessen auf unserer ganzen 3 wöchigen Sri Lanka Reise. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft und ein Lob an die Meisterköchin. Sie hat uns auch noch ein liebevolles Lunchpaket für unsere Zugfahrt vorbereitet. Sie hatte das Rice & Curry ganz clever in ein großes Bananenblatt und in Zeitung gewickelt, so lief nichts aus und es war plastiksparend!

Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt bei Bandara und seiner Familie. Die Zimmer sind sehr großzügig, die Einrichtung neu und die Betten ausgezeichnet. Bandara und seine Familie sind sehr herzliche Gastgeber, die gern bei jeder Gelegenheit helfen. Neben den vielen Aufmerksamkeiten (Säfte, Kuchen usw.), die wir während unseres Aufenthaltes erhalten haben, konnten wir dort auch Frühstück und Abendessen genießen und können es ebenfalls sehr empfehlen. Bandaras Frau ist eine tolle Köchin. Das Gästehaus wurde erst vor wenigen Monaten eröffnet, nachdem die Gastgeber in den Ruhestand gegangen sind. Daher ist Bandara auch interessiert, Sehenswürdigkeiten zu erkunden. Daher haben er und seine Frau uns zum Beispiel nach Ritigale begleitet, bevor sie uns für eine angemessene Aufwandsentschädigung in Habarana bei unseren neuen Gastgebern abgeliefert haben. Wir empfehlen den Aufenthalt sehr.

Da das Gästehaus noch recht kurz in Betrieb ist, ist die Dachterrasse leider noch nicht entwickelt. Sie bietet aber viel Raum und Potenzial, um eine kleine Oase zu werden.

Das Zimmer war total modern, geräumig und sehr sauber. Generell war das Haus sehr schön. Die Klimaanlage hat sehr gut funktioniert. Die Gastgeberfamilie ist wahnsinnig nett und herzlich, sodass wir uns sofort wohl und total willkommen gefühlt haben. Wir haben bei der Familie sowohl Abend gegessen als auch gefrühstückt und beides ist sehr zu empfehlen. Wir konnten uns sogar Fahrräder bei ihnen ausleihen, um die Stadt selbst zu erkunden. Alles super!

Spacious, beautiful and clean room with a large TV and comfortable bed. We had a exceptional supports from the owner and family for our two days visit. Restaurants, shops, banks in walking distance. Silent and calm environment with good security. Surely we will come back again.

Dit was zeer lekker en veel 😃 Echt een aanrader ! De locatie ligt midden in de wijk maar 5 minuten lopen naar het busstation en winkels. Onze tuktuk konden we zelfs binnen parkeren.

De familie van dit mooie luxueuze hotel heeft van ons verblijf een onvergetelijk mooi feest gemaakt. De ontvangst was overweldigend. Zij wisten dat we iets bijzonders te vieren hadden en hebben flink uitgepakt om ons te verrassen!! Wat hebben deze lieve mensen een liefdevol open hart. Wat wij ook sympathiek vonden is de hartelijkheid aan onze chauffeur Sandun. Hij kon zijn auto parkeren op privé terrein van de familie. Dank jullie nogmaals voor alles wat jullie voor ons gedaan hebben! Emerald Homestay in Anuradhapura biedt prachtige luxe schone ruime hotelkamers aan met een ruime badkamer, een heerlijk ruim bed, airco, TV, koffie/thee voorziening. Het ontbijt is overvloedig en verrukkelijk. Een ware traktatie. In de buurt is de Mikinthale Tempel, de heiligste Boeddhatempel bijzonder mooi om te bezoeken bij zonsondergang. Ook het Wilpattu Nationa Park en de oude koningsstad Jehavana is aanbevelenswaardig

Werkelijk niets viel tegen. Emerald Homestay krijgt van ons een uitmuntende beoordeling!!

Tout, nous donnons 11/10. La famille était très accueillante, il nous ont même cuisiné un excelle t repas sri-lankais pour un complément. La chambre étais propre et moderne. Ils nous ont également recommandé un excellent guide pour la visite de la ville sacré et plus (9h à 18h). Le gérant nous a transporté à Dambulla le soir pour un tarif très correcte. Je vous recommande d'y rester 2 jours pour faire le Safari de Wilpattu.

Tout était génial. Nous aurions du réserver un jour de plus.

Property was amazing. So clean and spacious with everything available in room you would expect. Lovely high ceilings and spacious rooms. Ours had a balcony. They also have a deck a high above house for relaxing. Breakfast was incredibly generous and delicious as was the dinner we ordered. The family running the home stay were so friendly and accommodating with good English. All food made in the kitchen. Exceptional ! Definitely stay there again.

Absolutely nothing

Emerald Homestay exceeded our expectations …. Recently built and very modern! We received a very friendly welcome upon arrival and were served a welcome drink and some delicious homemade biscuits. The rooms are upstairs from the owners residence and have electronic card swipe security. The room itself is large, very well appointed with an ensuite bathroom, a sensational bed and a large screen television. The lovely host cooked us dinner upon request at an extra charge and it was plentiful and absolutely delicious! The next morning we were served an equally sensational breakfast at no charge. We thoroughly recommend this property and could not fault anything!

Wij hadden met ons gezin met twee kinderen (17 en 19) twee kamers geboekt. We werden erg vriendelijk ontvangen. De gastheer is erg behulpzaam. Bij aankomst werden direct twee tuktuks geregeld voor een rondrit in de heilige stad. De kamers zijn ruim en schoon.

Room was nice, spacious and clean. The host and his wife were super kind. They picked us up from airport and organized a driver to see the sacred city and Mihintale (Ask for Jana +94715663033 - He drove us with his Tuk Tuk to the main spots and gave us some interesting facts) A highlight was also the food. Homemade Sri Lankan dishes for breakfast and dinner. We would love to come back!

The hosts were incredibly kind people. They helped arrange day excursions for us, cooked us a really nice meal, helped us with any problems. The room was great and really clean.

The door handle to enter room needs fixing to make it easier to enter or leave the room. Otherwise, no complaints!

Deze homestay was geweldig. Heerlijke bedden, heerlijke douche met warm water, goed werkende airco en bovenal een geweldige gastheer en gastvrouw. Zij hebben ons met heel veel liefde ontvangen en verzorgd. Ook hebben ze een hele goede gids voor ons geregeld voor een tour langs de verschillende tempels.

Comfortable bed, a big TV with cable but limited channels (you can request a channel if you want), powerful AC, balcony, and a decent sized washroom. WiFi is fast & reliable for browsing & chats/calls. The property is located in an alley (wide enough for cars & tuktuks), about 600 meters from New Town Bus Station. The lovely hosts live downstairs and there’s a separate entry to the rooms on the first floor. It’s a modern & super comfortable space managed by a well-mannered & cultured family. They really go the distance when it comes to helping you, there is a genuine concern regarding your comfort & sincere effort is put into addressing your needs. I mean it was my best experience in Sri Lanka in 30 days and I stayed in over a dozen highly rated hotels & home-stays. I strongly recommend staying here. Seriously, don’t look any further when in Anuradhapura.

A floor wiper and an air freshener in the washroom is always good to have. Some webs and dust here and there but that’s probably because it was off season and mine was an urgent booking and I reached there right away, completely understandable, just providing some feedback from my side.

Eine außergewöhnlich liebenswerte Familie als Gastgeber, sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Menschen. Sehr großzügiges Zimmer mit einer fabelhaften Air Condition und sehr bequemen Betten. Badezimmer modern mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Lage perfekt in der New Town, aber ruhig. Das Frühstück ist fantastisch und auch das Dinner bei der Familie sollte man sich gönnen, sehr üppig und lecker. Ein großes Dankeschön an unsere lieben Gastgeber. Mehr Gastfreundschaft kann man nicht erleben.
