Ella bay homestay

Emosh and his family were really nice and kind during our stay. They took care of us at all time, drove us to various locations and made us feel at home. The location is a little bit outside of the city, but really natural and quiet, and easy reachable by foot. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and overall the room was in a really good shape. Our personal highlight was the dinner. We prepared it together with the family, and it was the best food we had in Sri Lanka. If we are in Ella again, we will definitely come back to this homestay, but probably without a child;)

Świetnie miejsce! Cudowne wręcz! Lokalizacja super, widoki niesamowite! Gospodarz świetny, kontaktowy i dużo nam pomógł na miejscu. Zna świetne miejscówki i dodaje ekstra porady! Bardzo polecam! Najlepsze miejsce na jakie trafiliśmy na Sri Lance :)

The hotel was great, and the staff were incredibly helpful. We arrived before check-in and were allowed to store our luggage safely in a room. They also organized a scooter for us to rent, and the breakfast was very good. The next day, one of the staff members took me to a laundry service, where I accidentally left my wallet. Since he knows many people in the area, he helped me get it back quickly. We had a wonderful experience and are very grateful. Thank you!

The location us just outside of the town. 3 minutes by tuktuk and 15 minutes by foot. Clean and spacious room with good mosquito net. Owners are very friendly and will happily give you a ride to town if they sre going.

Ella Bay Homestay it's an amazing place to stay. Right in the middle of the jungle and 10 min walk to Ella Town. Imosh and his family are so kind, welcoming and accomodating! We stayed for almost 2 weeks and they made us feel at home, the breakfast is wonderful!! and if they are going to the town you can catch a ride with them, which it's very nice of them. We were working online while staying there and Imosh made sure we had good wifi connection and were comfortable during our stay. The wifi speed is great! We totally recommend this place and we will definetely be back! Thak you again for the wonderful stay!

All was great!

Bij aankomst kreeg ik een andere kamer boven woongedeelte. Daar was ik erg blij mee. Lekker bed, erg comfortabel met muskietennet. Lekkere warme douche. 4 dagen verbleven en de hele omgeving bezocht. 9 arch bridge, little Adam’s peek, treinrit naar Haputhale, theeplantage bezocht en tour gedaan, waterval bezocht, heerlijk in de stad gegeten bij Ella C café ( een aanrader) en lekkere koffie bij rainbow café gedronkren. Souveniers geshopt. Ontbijt bij homestay uitgebreid en lekker. Erg lieve eigenaren, doen enorm hun best!

Vond de kamer beneden niet zo fijn, maar kreeg gelijk een andere kamer. Was snel opgelost.

Food - more or less ok

Mould, dirt, and fungus were everywhere, including the porcelain washbasin (which I didn’t realise was even possible). There was a really bad smell. The room and bathroom facilities were very dirty. The fan, which was supposed to be an air conditioner, was covered in dust, mould, and who knows what else. Linen and bed felt odd—slightly wet and sticky. We also found cockroaches in the room. When I confronted the owners, initially they pretended the room was very clean, ignoring the fact that such conditions could cause serious health issues. Eventually, they stopped denying it but ask for “good review," focusing on their smiling and being nice and ignore the problems. They even promised to fix the mould on the wall by simply painting over it. At the end, I visited Booking.com to write review and find out that our stay was “cancelled.” What is not true is that we don't stay the whole time planned, but pay for the full stay… what makes me change my opinion about these „nice and smiling” owners.

Trevlig, vänlig och hjälpsam personal, som erbjöd oss skjuts till diverse sevärdheter i trakterna. God och riklig frukost. Vid middagen fick vi avsmaka många olika Sri Lankesiska rätter i riklig mängd. De erbjöd oss att använda deras tvättmaskin för att tvätta våra kläder. Sonen i familjen kunde erbjuda oss massage om vi ville ha det. Fin balkong och vacker omgivning.

Really wonderful place!! The whole family was incredibly nice, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and there was always a lot. The location was just outside of the busy part of town, so you look out on trees (birds, fireflies & occasionally monkeys) but you can walk to town,bridge, trails,etc. Room was big, clean and comfortable.

Ont aurais aimer prendre une douche a l eau chaude après une bonne randonnée mais le système ne fonctionnait pas..

The location is a 15 minutes walk from the centre. It is on a serpentine. The owners have tuk tuk and can help you with trips. They are really kind and nice people, ready to help. The wifi was good. There was hot water. The bed has mosquito net, though I could barely see any mosquitoes there. Breakfast is diversified.

Die Gastgeber waren äusserst nett und hilfsbereit. "Fühle dich wie zu Hause", ist ihr Motto. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen

Es ist etwas ausserhalb, 10 Minuten zu Fuss, jedoch ruhig und weg vom ganzen Trubel der Stadt

A perfect location, not far away from the city. Nice local and cheap restaurant around (I recommand the PS café). The host were friendly, they have their own tuktuk. The breakfast was amazing. They offer tea pot (perfect when you're cold and tired after a day outside). The room was clean, we had a fan, hot water, mosquito net, a private balcony.

Amazing place! Big bedroom, clean and the greatest views. The family are really great, helpful and funny. Best breakfast of our trip. Special mention to the family’s cat.

A bit far from the town if you don’t have your own transport.

The breakfast is amazing. The mum is wonderful, the cat is adorable! The location is fairly far but generally the host is great at picking you up and dropping you off.

The room was very damp (maybe keeping windows open might be good, but there are mosquitos, and the net has a few holes). Don’t feel obliged to go with the host for the tours or services but generally he’ll match prices.

Хороший гостевой дом, доброжелательные хозяева. Удивительный вид джунглей с обезьянами прямо у дома. Чистая, удобная большая кровать и большая комната. Идеальный интернет.

Un entorno precioso, rodeado de selva y naturaleza. La madre y el hijo fueron muy amables y nos ayudaron en todo momento. Los desayunos son abundantes e increíbles. Incluso tuvimos la oportunidad de compartir una cena con la familia, lo que hizo la experiencia aún más auténtica. Cocinan realmente bien. La ubicación es perfecta: a solo 7 minutos del centro de Ella, con fácil acceso en tuk tuk o scooter. También nos ayudaron a alquilar una moto a buen precio y nos recomendaron lugares menos turísticos para visitar. El acceso al lugar es fácil. Este sitio es ideal para escapar del bullicio de Ella, conectar con la tranquilidad y la naturaleza, y compartir con una familia local, apoyando así directamente a la comunidad.

La gentillesse de la famille La très bonne cuisine Le cadre Petits déj copieux Le tuktuk gratuit pour aller en ville (il faut savoir que le homestay est situé en dehors du centre ville et l'accès à pied se fait en longeant la route de montagne très fréquentée)

Un effort sur la propreté aurait rendu le séjour parfait (salle de bain et draps)

Des hôtes très gentils et qui nous donnent de bonnes recommandations d’activités à faire. Le déjeuner était délicieux et très généreux! Petite terrasse agréable. Assez bien situé un peu à l’écart de la ville, nous avons pu randonner jusqu’au pont et au little adam’s peak.

C’était très humide dans la chambre et la salle de bain, pas vraiment d’aération. Nous laissions la porte extérieure ouverte le plus souvent possible mais pas pour la nuit, le ventilateur suffisait pour la chaleur mais l’humidité restait imprégnée, ce qui était un peu inconfortable.

Host war sehr hilfsbereit und höflich. Tolles Frühstück auf der Terrasse, gute und unaufdringliche und entspannte Atmosphäre.

Wegen des Gartens waren abends einige Mücken auf der Terrasse

Ella Bay war die charmante und schönste Unterkunft, die wir in Sri Lanka bewohnen durften! Das Haus und das Zimmer ist mit viel Liebe gestaltet und die Gastgeberin und ihr Sohn waren ganz besonders freundlich, hilfsbereit und sehr sehr angenehm! Das Frühstück war der Wahnsinn. Die Menge und Auswahl der selbstgemachten Speisen hat uns jeden Morgen versüßt. Wir haben es geliebt, auf der Terrasse zu sitzen und die Affen im Dschungel zu beobachten oder mit dem Kater zu schmusen. Der Sohn Emosh hat uns bei allen Fragen geholfen und uns mit dem Tuctuc in die Stadt genommen, wenn er auch gerade auf dem Weg war. Man konnte die Strecke in dir Innenstadt aber auch ohne Probleme laufen. Ein großartiger Ort und tolle Leute! Danke!

We loved the place: so peaceful, far enough from Ella center to enjoy the sounds of nature and not the ones of the restaurants. Everything was perfect, very clean. We had the best breakfast with jungle view. Mom and son were really nice to us, the best stay so far!! Really recommend

These hosts are so beautiful and make sure everything you need is available! The location is a little walk from the town but he insisted on giving us a lift there and back. Breakfast was wonderful and we also paid doe him to take us up to the Monastery and he was a wealth of information so came in with us to explain which was so nice

We loved the friendly family that feeds you breakfast everyday and will offer you pick up and drop off service in town. We love the views from my breakfast spot. We were able to watch and observe monkeys and birds from outside our accommodation. They never came close enough for us to be worried about.

We usually book accommodations with AC, but the fan was more than enough and we never got hot at night.

The bed is exceptional. Most comfortable stay we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Also the Mountain View is hard to beat. The family who hosted us was also some of the nicest people we’ve met in Sri Lanka. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner with them and mom really knows how to cook!

This is a true Sri Lankan homestay. The host family that own this Homeatay are so welcoming, from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave they will look after you. We were there during the New Year and we felt like part of the family. The food was wonderful and home cooked. The homestay is surrounded by jungle, Monkeys can be seen playing in the trees. We highly recommend this homestay.

Local breakfast was divine, especially the honey and coconut rotis! The mother and son that own this place were incredibly helpful and accommodating.

Best price and super nice hosts. The breakfast was included and big, more than I could eat. The host was very kind and helpful, he even offered me a tuktuk rides for arrival and departure, though the City Center is walkable.

Amazing place, perfect location, not so far from the centre and with spectacular views. The family is really friendly and always there to help and have a nice conversation. The son has a tuk tuk and he gave us a free ride from the centre to the house. There’s a bus stop right next to the entrance where you can take direct buses to the waterfalls and the south coast if you go to beach after Ella.

Everything perfect

We had a wonderful stay at Ella Bay HomeStay . Himasha, whose mother Kusum runs the HomeStay, is a fantastic guide, full of good ideas and very knowledgeable. He also runs a tuk tuk so rides any where are at your door step. Our room was clean and had a powerful fan and a good en-suite. Beautiful view from the terrace where Kusum presented us with a fabulous breakfast, the best we have had. Highly recommend for a truly authentic SriLankan option hidden away from the noise and hustle of central Ella.

We had a lovely stay in Ella. Very friendly owner and family. Breakfast was huge and excellent. And we also loved the company of house cat Pudi.

Little bit humid, but it rained a lot while we were in Ella.

Host is nice and gave us good tips on where to go and what to visit. Thanks to him we visited one of the most amazing temples I have ever seen. He also drives a tuk tuk so can arrange trips for you. Location of the place is very good. No view. Breakfast was very good and plentiful

Room is mouldy and a bit unclean. The smell of mould was very strong.

Quiet, owner was fun and caters to your needs. Spacious room, nice hot shower, and breakfast was great and huge.

Nothing... but you do need transportation to get there from the city since its on side of the mountain. But, owner does have a tuk tuk. And buses do come by offen.
