Beautiful location, good variety of accommodation options, lovely restaurant, excellent staff, great breakfast.
Room in main house was tiny, rain water coming in window due to lack of maintenance, rooms strangely priced…. friends paid less for a much better room.
It’s a beautiful place in a beautiful location. Everything was so unique. Welcoming and so homely. The staff were so friendly, upgraded us free of charge which was such a kind surprise. We had a wedding to get to which was at the same time as check in and staff managed to sort us getting checked in earlier which was so lovely of them.
I enjoyed everything.
Really nice bathroom
Room very small
Very clean , staff pleasant. Good menu busy nights we ate but food still served relatively quickly. Lovely village for a walk around.
Our room was on small size, only hanging space was a few hangers on back of door
The hotel was quirky. Our room was at the back of the garden.
The room was far too hot. The fan was poor and didn't give off any cool breeze. It was very noisy like there was a problem with it. I would definitely think about air conditioning with the summers getting hotter. The TV remote didn't work in our room ( pigeon) told staff but there was nothing they could do. Luckily my husband downloaded a remote control on his phone and it worked.
We stayed on a room-only basis to join a nearby family event. The accommodation was of a very high standard - well presented and very clean, with every facility you need, yet with plenty of character.
Made very welcome
Staff and Breakfast were lovely, dinner not quite as good and a bit on the cool side. Parking spaces should have been reserved for people staying at the hotel had to park quite a way away.
Room was close to the beer garden and car park so very accessible
Room was very hit and stuffy with small windows so difficult to sleep and relax . It was exceptionally hot weather, but being on ground floor and close to garden meant we didn't want to have the windows too wide due to loss of privacy and security
The Staff make you feel really welcome. The whole place has a happy buzz about it. The food was lovely especially the full English breakfast!
Pigeons waking us at 4am lol!
Everything the room the exceptional food, and most of all the staff. Such a gem we loved it and hope to get back some time.
I don’t know everything was great.
Bathroom had some mold/dirt around the bath and on the grout between the tiles around the bath. Wi-Fi didn't work in room or main pub area. Need to go to separate building across the main drive apparently to have reliable wi-fi. Subjectively, I didn't find the mattress very good.
Lovely private accommodation, great food and very friendly staff. Beautiful location, we all had a very pleasant stay enjoying drinks in the bar, relaxing in the beer garden, having dinner in the restaurant and breakfast in the conservatory. We will most definitely be returning guests and will be recommending this warm welcoming experience to our friends and family
Everything
The Dappling Duck was fantastic food and beer lovely. The room was comfy and warm and a great shower.
Nothing
The staff were extremely helpful and kind. The setting was lovely.
I was convinced when I arrived that I had booked a bed and breakfast package only to be told that I hadn't and Booking com rarely included breakfast. This was upsetting. The room was OK but I didn't feel value for the money I paid. The bed was very bouncy. It also stated it was a quieter option but it was right on the edge of the beer garden so noisy for a period of time before the bar closed. We ate in the restaurant on both occasions and the food was very hit and miss. It was also expensive.
Very helpful staff. Location was fantastic. Room was comfortable, relaxing and beautifully decorated with a large bathroom. Felt like a place to really relax and enjoy the surroundings. Glad to have found it.
Nothing - was a perfect stay.
Very clean and friendly
Nothing
Everything was absolutely perfect the room was spotless and beautiful the staff at the pb were great and the food was fantastic will definitely be going back again
Nothing it was perfect
The property was cute! Fun outdoor pizza bar area!
We were in the garden room located outside, detached from main building! They have a cute outdoor area that serves delicious pizza and other food! Great area for kids! We went in for the night around 9:30, nobody was outside at the picnic tables - it was very quiet! About 10:30pm it sounded like a serious game of hide and seek with about 4-6 people (not sure ages? Some old some young?) they were running around our cabin, yelling and screaming! This went on until about midnight! Be aware if you stay in the garden, it can be noisy!
Staff are so friendly, room was beautiful, food was fantastic.
Very clean Staff were lovely Our room was a tad small so will choose a bigger one in future Will definitely go back again
So friendly and the room was amazing and the little details as fresh cold milk and flavoured vodka left in the room to try was so nice.
The only thing I would say is that the mattress was very soft and so were the pillows but that’s the only thing I can say
The friendly and efficient Staff. Boutique and clean rooms. The rooms felt fresh, not tired. The food was excellent and for once I could drink a good ale and a good bitter
Breakfast great and freshly cooked, friendly staff, great location for getting to north Norfolk coast.
The bed was comfy.
It was supposed to be a quiet garden room but it wasn’t quiet. Sunday morning the speakers for the adjacent outside space were on, with music playing, when no one was outside. There were functions on both evenings I stayed in the adjacent space.
The room was amazing very nice
I think I would prefer a table in the restaurant rather than the bar just cause of the lovely ceiling and ambiance
King room was a little on the small size but adequate. It is a very old building so wonky floors and difficult stairs are to be expected. Room was warm and had usual facilities. Pub was nice, good food (one of the best burgers I've had in a long time) and good beer. Nice to see Pigeon, Pheasant and Venison on the menu for a change. Nice Pub in a nice village.
Bed wasn't the most comfortable I've slept in (I know mattress's are uniquely personal but my wife also said it was too soft or too old and needed replacing). The shower was so hot it was too hot to use (not something I thought I'd ever say) something we reported to the management to get looked at. The stairs were very steep, very narrow and had a sharp bend and door at the bottom, okay for the reasonably able but not fun with hands full of luggage or if you'd had one too many at the bar.
Breakfast was exceptional location very picturesque.
Maybe a more varied evening menu.
Nice
Nothing
Opted for buffet but only had cereal so thought it was quite expensive. Second day just had toast which was very nice.
Although we had an upgrade to a lovely room, found it difficult drying my hair. No plug in bathroom and the only plug for hairdryer didn’t quite reach the only mirror on the outside of the wardrobe. Had there been a mirror near the plug, where we made coffee/tea, it would have been perfect. Hope this makes sense!!
Oh dear ..what a pity ..we had a 45 minute wait as staff forgot to bring the breakfast from the kitchen..eggs were hard bacon semi cold ..long wait for toast ..a disaster
There was no management to oversee the staff who were very polite but there was no director ..food very average and expensive for what was a very limited menue ..we have been going there for 10 years and this was unacceptable This visit ..sorry
Location is great, pub is very nice and the food is excellent.
The stairs up to the rooms are a little tricky - only a tiny think though in a generally great place.
This pub was a great little gem in Norfolk as I travelled up to my cousins wedding in Godwick Hall. The staff, the room, the facilities, the toilets, shower, food, the everything was just perfect!! I even made temporary friends with some of the regulars as I was waiting on a very delayed taxi and when I left we gave each other a hug goodbye lol. Highley highly recommended. I was a little bit apprehensive about the price when I booked in june for a December stay but trust me its worth every penny!!!!!!! Oh and the duck pizza! Oh My God, do not dare go here and NOT try it! Its amazing!
It was all perfect, I have not faults in this place
Nice staff. Good breakfast.
Room was really small (room 6). No room for wardrobe. Should've been a single with a wardrobe really.
Cosy and clean with tons of character and charm. Didn’t want to leave.
Nothing.
Beautiful pub. My room was absolutely gorgeous. Beautifully decorated, with unusual extras such as a free bottle of homemade raspberry vodka. and an actual cafetière and ground coffee
My room was hot... turned off the radiator in the room, but couldn't turn off the towel rail which was boiling! Because my room was hot, I had the window open a little to sleep, and there was a lot of noise with people leaving the pub directly below my window, at around 11pm. This is to be expected with a pub I suppose, but there was a group of staff chatting loudly for some time too, till I stuck my head out the window and asked them if they could move down away from my window. I brought this up with the owner, and he said that door should have been locked after 10pm- and people would usually leave by another door
Schönes Zimmer, tolles Essen und sehr freundliche Atmosphäre. Lovely room, wonderful food and very friendly atmosphere and staff.
The room was fantastic, the pub is great, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious.
Only stayimg for one night.
The staff were very proactive and welcoming
Vibrant busy pub. Lots of dogs which we don’t mind seeing. As was Halloween 🎃 youngsters trick or treating. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Lovely view from our room of church and the village green. Fresh milk available in a fridge in little snug area. Nice touch a sample of homemade vodka . Bed comfortable.
We aren’t spring chickens and the staircase up to rooms was bit challenging. As was busy had to park at far end of car park, which had no lighting, which we thought a bit dangerous. Room supposed to be king room, wasn’t very spacious but cosy. Rather expensive for what you got with no breakfast included. Was bit disappointed that not more fish dishes on dinner menu, especially being near the coast. I did have the mussels which were very good.
We travel a lot and this is easily the best place we have stayed for a very long time, I advised the staff before travelling that it was my wife's birthday and they upgraded our room to a gorgeous room in the adjacent house that had a bath and the biggest bed ever. The pull up shutters ensured privacy for the bath and the also absolute darkness and silence at night and they kept the heat in. The food in the restaurant was amazing with everything tasting better than the last. The staff were all incredible and engaged with us to ensure everything was as we liked it without being pushy. We have already decided we will be and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a base for touring the area.
I cannot actually think of anything that was less than perfect. We didn't get to take advantage of the self catering facilities or the guest lounge provided as we had a pretty full itinerary. We will be sure to take of advantage of this next time.
The room was a good size and clean as well as well equipped. The location was perfect for us and the people were very friendly and genuine.
Breakfast was good but no spinach available with poached eggs. Breakfast was £8.50 and I only had an orange juice!
Our room (Broom) wasn't fit for purpose! No wardrobe, a broken chest of drawers, no space to put anything, one chair for 2 people, no space down each side of the bed so had to shuffle sideways to get out of bed, wrought iron bedsted meant we couldn't sit on bed to watch TV. Bathroom ok but nowhere to put anything! Window overlooked the green and only had heavy curtains no blinds or nets so had to keep them closed to get dressed. Very poorly lit. Fit for a broom cupboard only. Will not recommend this place to anyone!
Centre of the village. Good food and facilities.
Great atmosphere in a pretty setting Very dog friendly
Nothing
Comfortable with good food in the pub
very nice relaxing area in the pizza area , nice comfy chairs to chill out, room was very comfortable, bed was comfy ,adequate room , nice and quiet which was lovely as we were situated at the front near a road but no noise at all , nice stay
nothing to report
Nice pub
Bit pricey considering breakfast wasn't included.
Lovely location and food
we didn't have breakfast but the room was amazing.
nothing
Nice people working there Food good
Room small No where to hang clothes
Location excellent, very clean, lovely staff.
Nothing.
Location was exceptional . The room was very clean , and a tasting of their home made vodka , along with Molton Brown toiletries was a lovely touch. X
Nothing
The free upgrade,the food,
The free upgrade meant climbing stairs not ideal for a couple of pensioners
The restaurant is fantastic and very good food. The staff were also very good.
We stayed in room 6 and the bed is tiny. I’m 6ft 1in and honestly my head was touching the headboard and my feet touching the footboard. It was incredibly uncomfortable as it was so small for a couple to stay in.
The location is idyllic, you have duck ponds to the left and right of the pub. Everything was great, the accommodation, the breakfast, evening meals and all the staff were lovely and friendly. We stayed previously about 3 years ago and wanted to come back again. Sarah had been our waitress the previous time and it was good to see her again. The beach at Holkham is fab, we had a great day with our dog. My husband left a top behind and Izzy kindly posted it to us.
Nothing
The Staff were so lovely and couldnt do enough. Great stay.
The weather was humid and quite understandably the old hotel couldnt possibly have aircon and as it isnt always needed quite understandable.
After a full day of travelling from London and working nearby in Fakenham, my overnight stay at The Dabbling Duck was exactly what I needed before heading back home to Nottinghamshire. The village is a true hidden gem—peaceful, picturesque, and the perfect setting for a well-earned recharge. The food was just as impressive. I’d highly recommend the burger—bursting with flavour and totally hit the spot. 🍔
Nothing - I would return again
nice and clean, very helpful staff, nice and quite in a nice village setting, food very good and price not bad at all, drinks good price not over the top like some places i know, nice garden to relax in, parking not a real problem, all good.
Lovely location full of character.
Poorly designed bathroom. No care or concern shown when I spoke to a member of staff when my Father had fallen up the stairs to the bedroom and I needed to take a first aid kit to his room . After leading us up to the room there was no follow up to check he was okay.
Very nice staff, great food (generous portions) good rooms and good atmosphere.
Nothing
The room was perfect, clean, the styling was good, comfortable and attention to detail was lovely, such as glasses in the fridge and milk ready for tea and coffees. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Really it was a perfect weekend.
Sometimes it was difficult to find a member of staff when checking in and out or trying to book a table earlier in the day. It was really on a very minor inconvenience
Plenty of options available and perfectly cooked
Liked everything
Lovely mix of informality and professionalism.
picturesque village - nice pub garden
didn't like the Korean twist to the food
Comfy bed, quality bedding, great coffee, clean room, lovely village.
Tiny room. Expensive breakfast. Impersonal stay. Noisy and busy pub.
