Excellent value for money, the evening meal was amazing , we loved it. The location is so beautiful, enjoyed a forest walk. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Dinner was disappointing: I had roast beef and some of the meat was tough and chewy: i didn’t eat much of it.

The hotel is in a fantastic location nearby to Dumfries but not in the town. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room (1) was massive and comfortable. The food for both dinner and breakfast was excellent.

I only stayed 1 night.

Great staff, beautiful location, was an issue with the electric so we got moved to the massive honeymoon suite which was brilliant. Breakfast and dinner were excellent

Stunning setting, beautiful rooms and the staff are super friendly and so helpful! Made to feel very welcome and would have no hesitations in returning!

That we only had 1 night there!

We had a change of plans and needed another night near Dumfries. I’m so glad I chose this hotel, it’s absolutely stunning! The welcoming by the staff was superb and our room with the garden view was spacious and cosy. I would love to just sit there by the window, watch the rain or read a book. This hotel has such a lovely atmosphere, whoever was in charge for the interior design, really had an eye for it. Every item is chosen with care, every chair invites to sit down and the old character of the house has been perfectly preserved. I was traveling with a 5yo and the staff was super friendly to her. I hope we can come again and stay longer!

Very comfortable room and excellent breakfast. I was looking for a bargain and I got one. They were full apart from one small room with no ensuite toilet which turned out to be very comfortable and excellent value for money.

It was a family owned hotel which makes all the difference. In the world ....nothing was too much bother ...a beautiful setting with lovely grounds .Hotel lovely and warm ..so cosy ...rooms immaculate..food oh so tasty .

There wasn't one thing we could complain about ..it far surpassed our expectations.

More bathroom storage and hanging space. Frosted glass panels above the bedroom door, this lit the room up over night due to corridor lights being left on. Was hard to get a good nights sleep. I would recommend binds over the glass or replace with wood panels.

Lovely old property in beautiful grounds. Bar and restaurant were fab and staff could not have been nicer. Very relaxing break, would stay again.

No air con and it was a very hot 2-3 days!

Beautiful location and the hotel was run by friendly staff that were very accomadating. The room was a large room and the overall standards was very good..loved the location was very peaceful.

Only few issues we had was the shower hardly ran any water and was hard to get temperature setting right. The food at dinner really want great hence the 2nd night we ate elsewhere. Would have been good to have a mini fridge also.

The staff were the friendliest people, the food was so fresh and tasty the location is superb and the forest walks is excellent, I'll definitely be going back.

It was warm when we were there and I found the room too hot.

The location of this hotel was excellent, lovely peaceful grounds, surrounded by countryside. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very homely inside and the family room was very spacious. There was plenty of free parking. The big deal for us was it being dog friendly and that was one of the main reasons we stayed there. The grounds were ideal for us to walk our dog too and we were able to let her off to run off her energy. The breakfast was really enjoyable, to a high standard and had lots of choice. So pleased we found this gem in Dumfries. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We loved everything! Would have been great if they had a pool but I don't think they could just magic that!

Rooms were very hot, no air conditioning. Shower wasn’t working well. Rooms could do with an upgrade.

The garden’s were outstanding. It’s fantastic location if you had a dog for walking. The staff were friendly welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We are definitely going back. If anyone does go look at for ( TRIMATHY) We had a fantastic stay and I’d recommend it to my friends and family

We stayed in the bridal suit. It was large and great value for money. Also had a great view. There are also excellent circular walks only a shor car journey away.

Beautiful property. Lovely big bedroom. Very clean. Comfy bed. Gorgeous food. Exceptional staff.

The shower was a trickle. Such a shame. We could have complained and asked for another room but everyone was so lovely and everything else was perfect. Very good value for money too. Would definitely go back, especially if they sort the water pressure out!

Thought the menu was limited and on the pricey side. But saying that the food was amazing only eat in the restaurant 1st night.

Location is fantastic. The guest house is beautiful. The staff were lovely, very friendly and attentive. My daughter was especially fond of Basil the talking Parrot. Food was delicious, we had dinner and breakfast. Dinner menu had a varied choice plus kids menu. Locally sourced produce too.

Rooms are a little dated, i.e. tired wood panelling in bathrooms. Rooms could be doing with a different paint colour, the blue in our bedroom made it feel a little tired/dated.

The only disappointment was the view from our room. When staying in Scotland, you naturally hope to wake up to the country's beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, our room overlooked the roof of an extension, which slightly detracted from the overall experience. Het enige minpunt was het uitzicht vanuit onze kamer. Bij een verblijf in Schotland hoop je wakker te worden met een prachtig uitzicht op de indrukwekkende natuur. Helaas keken wij uit op het dak van een aanbouw, wat toch wat afbreuk deed aan de beleving.

The breakfast was plentiful and good quality produce. The location of the hotel was very quiet and relaxing. A very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

The property itself, character and the way it has been decorated and furnished. It’s situation adjacent to the beautiful forest, perfect for walking and all of the staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Really excellent food and menu and to top it all they really welcomed our dog! This is the 3rd time we’ve stayed here and probably won’t be the last!! 💕

The staff were all welcoming and friendly. The hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast and evening meals were excellent. With the rain it was a bit chilly but hotel had radiators on in our room so were very comfortable.Our stay at Mabie was relaxed and a perfect start to our holiday.

The initial welcome was warm and courteous. The bedroom wallpaper was tasteful! The parrot, on guard, at the bottom of the stairs, added a touch of eccentricity to the general vibe of faded elegance.

Lovely big room, nice and clean. Also bathroom was fine. Staff was very friendly and polite. The place was so beautiful in the peaceful countryside. Just perfect😊

The property was lovely staff was very helpful they couldn’t be more helpful of they tried. The meals were fantastic and great value for the money. Really enjoyed the stay would recommend this to many one.

The temperature was a bit warm for me in the main building but I coukd open windows in my room.

Unpretentious country house hotel. Very friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. Staff were amazing, so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Chef and kitchen staff also deserve a mention for their tasty well presented dishes served efficiently.

Lovely food and a comfortable bed

The shower had hardly any water and it went from scorching to freezing , no lift and didn’t like the parrot out the cage. The room was clean enough but found cobwebs on the bathroom window and ridges if the door and skirting boards were needing a clean

We have stayed previously and simply keep returning. From the warm, friendly welcome on arrival and the level of customer service throughout our stays we will continue to be return guests.

A beautiful building in lovely setting. Friendly helpful staff, and we loved our big, comfortable room, full of genteel character. Perfect area for the dogs, walks all around- wish we had longer stay. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Very good value. We will return!

The staff were excellent and the food a good standard. The house is in impressive grounds which was lovely to sit out in the evening with a drink. The hotel also did events although none whilst we were there

The rooms were spacious but the shower was electric and had very little power. This meant it had to be a cool setting to use and was disappointing

Lighting - especially in the dining room, could be improved- the hotel as a whole seemed dark when better lights would have given a warmer, brighter impression and feel to every room.
