Petit Helvetia Budget Hotel

The hotel is few minutes walk from the train station. There are a few restaurants around the hotel included the famous cheese fondue. The Matterhorn sunrise view is just few minutes walk. Breakfast is included. Check in check out process is speedy. Love the balcony.

Too many stairs and soundproofing is not good.

Location is noisy and it’s very hot. Probably you can add an electric fan.

Its so calm and cozy. At night i sit out the balcony and enjoy the cold breeze. The staff was very friendly. Clean room and toilet.

No lifts

Easily walkable from train station and positioned to put you closer to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise gondola. Located in heart of the town. Good sized room. Breakfast spread was great.

Shower was laughably tiny--tighter than a phone booth. Windows opened onto alley way full of trash and junk. And we had a terrible exchange with a morning staff person. When we arrived, the lobby was closed and a list of guests and room numbers were posted on the door, with a peg board of keys on the adjacent wall. We had two rooms. We checked our room numbers and grabbed what we thought were our keys (Room 4 and 5), stowed our gear and left to tour the area for the day. The next morning when we came down for breakfast, the employee told us we had taken the wrong keys (should have been rooms 14 and 15). She was very cross and said it had caused a problem because another guest with a heart issue had wanted a lower floor room and we had taken their room. I apologized, told her it was entirely my fault, and offered to change rooms right then, but she said it didn't matter for the second night and kept saying it was wrong that we took the other keys. We were left standing there kind of dumbfounded with her scolding because I'm not sure at that point what she wanted us to do. The hotel had my cell phone number and my email address and the hotel has a small number of rooms. Had they contacted me the previous day I would have raced back to the hotel and switched the rooms. Had they entered our rooms, we weren't unpacked and they could have moved our luggage to a common area or checked our luggage tags to confirm our name as the offending guest. The whole situation was handled unprofessionally and could have been resolved the previous day with a little resourcefulness. So no, I can't recommend this hotel in spite of its benefits, because guest should expect to be treated with kindness and respect, especially if the guests are being polite and forthright. Sometimes tired travelers make mistakes.

The nice room is clean with private clean toilet/bath. Nice breakfast too.

Unfortunately we have a chain smoker next door so we couldn't enjoy the balcony as we wish too. It just our luck for 1 night stay.

המקום עדיין בבנייה אז כל היום היה רעש מחריד של השיפוצים ! אין מעלית והמדרגות צרות בספירלה כך שממש היה קשה לעלות עם מזוודה , חדר ומקלחת קטנים מאוד !

Location is vey good. The best view from our window - Matterhorn.

It almost impossigle to reach top floors with suitcases, especially if you have big ones. I had to help a women to bring her luggege to her room as she could not make it. It's not easy to guess how to get your room key as nobody meet you even during the day.

Clean, very close to the main attractions and train station

Beste Lage und zweckmäßige Zimmer für eine Nacht! Obwohl die Rezeption nicht besetzt war, hatten wir keine Problem, unser Zimmer (Schlüssel) zu finden und einzuchecken.

Die Bettdecken hätten etwas dicker sein können. War gerade noch an der Grenze.

The breakfast was nice, the location was great, and the bathroom was very spacious.

The check in wasn't very clear, pillows weren't great either, and the staff at breakfast was a bit rude.

Small pokey dingy room, shower could only fit a size 8 person, no fridge, useless TV, a kettle with instant coffee, price was a joke, breakfast was woefull, nothing hot, not even a toaster, and does not match the listing pictures

Es poca cosa para el precio que tiene, pero el problema es de la relación calidad-precio de la hostelería suiza en general. Si comparas con lo que podrías tener por ese precio en Polonia o España...

Great location, cheap for the area, with breakfast. The room was great, the staff as well.

The room had a large whirlpool tub, notoriously hard to keep clean in a hotel, and this was the same. We didn't use the jets. But the intake was not clean. Also the tub is enormous and that would have been great but before it was half full the hot water ran out, then ran rusty. Ending all hope of a nice soak. Everything else was great. I would stay again. But I would not stay in the room with the large whirlpool and expect a nice bath.

The price is very budget friendly and located right on the busy street. Very clean and well kept ‘budget’ hotel.

Quiet a distance from the train station and there is no taxi service from the management. Also, i had to carry my big suitcase up flight of stairs from the main street. Thank good the hotel put me only on 1st floor. However, this should work out fine if you are travelling light with small suitcases.

Small room Wooden staircase. No lift. Had to lift heavy bags to the 2nd floor. (Which was specified as 1st floor in arrival instuctions) which led to confusion

체르마트 기차역에서 가까워 찾기가 좋았어요. 기차타기가 편했고 마을이 아주 아름다운곳이예요. 날씨가 좋으면 마테호른이 보일수 있으나 우리는 보지 못했어요. 하지만 기차타고 올라갔을때는 마테호른을 보았어요. 너무 감동적이었어요. 호텔도 깔끔하고 좋았어요. 감사합니다.

2층 계단으로 올라가는것이 힘들었어요.

The location is excellent — close to everything in Zermatt.

Since I travelled with my family, the room being on the 4th floor with access only by stairs made carrying 4 nos of heavy luggage very tiring. Family rooms or group bookings should be allocated on the 1st or 2nd floor.

Room temperature was cold

it's about six blocks up a mild incline from the train station which is close I suppose though when you're dragging luggage it doesn't seem close. Breakfast was minimal but adequate and it's nice that it was included. Room was bare minimum but adequate however needed some routine maintenance.

first of all it's hard to find because there is no place called "petite" helvicia. This small hotel and restaurant above a bakery is called "helvicia hotel restaurant" when you finally locate the sign that doesn't say what you thought you were looking for you go up about 10 stone steps and then turn to the right and go up another 10 stone steps and then if your room is on the first available floor there is another 15 steps that curve around. If your room is on the third or fourth floor that is another 10 steps per floor. There is no lift and if you're carrying luggage , especially heavy or large luggage or more than one piece this is quite a little nightmare. The room was very tiny but clean but some maintenance is neglected like a piece of "tile " falling out of the shower because of water intrusion and a hole behind the bed, and the window didn't latch closed properly. There is no noise insulation between rooms so it can be quite noisy and also from the bar across the street people out late.

My honest review of Petit Helvetia: This was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences we had during our Europe trip. We stayed in many hotels across different parts of Europe, but this hotel felt extremely uncomfortable, strange, and unprofessional. 1. The hotel staff were very uncooperative and unfriendly. 2. Nobody helped with luggage, which is disappointing for a hotel that claims to provide proper hospitality. 3. The hotel did not feel safe or secure at all. 4. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was very weird and uncomfortable. Even other guests we spoke with said the same thing and mentioned that the place felt abnormal. 5. At night, the hotel genuinely felt scary. The environment and atmosphere gave very disturbing vibes, almost like something paranormal or horror-like was going on. It was difficult to feel relaxed or comfortable there. 6. The most unacceptable part was that hotel staff entered our room for “room service” without our permission, even though we never requested it. Entering a guest’s room without consent is highly inappropriate and a serious violation of privacy. 7. The rooms were extremely small, no enough light and dark . 8. We were told breakfast was included, but the service was terrible. Staff ignored us repeatedly, and even asking for something as basic as coffee felt impossible because the lady staff member would barely respond. Overall, the experience was disappointing, uncomfortable, and very unprofessional. We did not feel welcomed, safe, or respected as guests. I would definitely not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

Great breakfast!

Ficamos em um quarto com uma vista lateral para a matterhorn, ficamos maravilhados com isso. Uma coisa muito simples mas que ficamos vários minutos só sentandos em frente a janela, tomando um chá ou café e olhando para ela. Outro ponto de vantagem é que tinha café da manhã incluído. Na nossa viagem pela Europa, pegamos poucos hotéis com o café incluso.

Das Zimmer war bereits vor dem Mittag bezugsbereit. Die gesamte Abwicklung verlief unkompliziert. Beim Frühstück war alles vorhanden, was man braucht.

Das Frühstückangebot war am 12.05.26 sehr schlecht. Mitarbeiterin war lustlos, nur auf Nachfrage wurde etwas nachgereicht, keine Teeauswahl usw. ☹️

Location was good, lots of restaurants and coffee shops in the area. One of the least expensive hotels in the area.

Very small room & small bathroom. Beds too short for 6ft+. Breakfast buffet was basic but enough food.

It was central and easy to get around

The reception was closed and I just grabbed the key from the reception area myself. The floor in the shower almost flooded because the drainage was blocked. The toilet cleaner holder had so much water inside and very unhygienic. It was very small inside and wasn't cheap either.

Check-in time supposed to be at 2:00, but we arrive a little passed 12:00 all 2 rooms were ready to check in. We were very satisfied about that.

Toilet bowl cover is broken and bathroom door is broken too in my room #2 floor 1. Just a little confused by the time we arrived at location, it took us a while to find the sign to your hotel, afterwards everything is simple with the list and room key board

The breakfast was good - fruit, hard-boiled eggs, nice bread, jams, cheeses and charcuterie, pastries, with friendly breakfast staff. Breakfast room had character, in old world alpine style. Location was good, less than 10 minutes walk from station.

No reception staff at a 5pm arrival time . Very steep narrow stairs with no elevator, so may not be suitable for people with even mild restrictions on mobility if carrying suitcases. Beds clean but bedding clearly tumble dried with no attempt at ironing. Water for shower hard to get to a low enough temperature to shower, than would suddenly turn scalding hot. Opposite a bar so some rooms may be noisy. It’s a budget hotel but is expensive, though we understand everything in Zermatt is expensive!
