Excellent place, incredible location, very friendly and polite staff and amazingly good breakfast. The dinner at the same restaurant was also fantastic. The whole place has a Old Calcutta Colonial charm with all modern facilities. Highly recommended for a short family trip to this amazing City of Joy.

There is no elevator! But that did not put us in any difficulty with our luggage. The hotel arranged for the bags to be delivered in the room.

Lovely hotel in Central location. Close enough to Park Street to evening entertainment but in a quiet area. Deck 88 was a great spot for an evening drink, dinner and watching cricket.

The hotel has it's events late night which was disturbing to the in-house guests. Stayed 2 nights and both the night could not slept well.

We had a suite, good bed, good sitting area.

The breakfasts and staff were excellent. Room was clean & well serviced. The location of the hotel was close to the areas I needed. The Maitre'D and secuity were very helpful when I requested a welfare check. I cannot recommed them highly enough for that.

The bed was too soft. Their nightclub is too noisy - music would go until 4am! My room used to smell like as if it was next to the sewer after it was locked up - very unpleasant - but would clear after air con was put on. I submitted a load of clothes for laundry however I received one of my items back, all torn up. Nothing was said to me about it. I queried it with the staff and nobody got back to me. So that's unsatisfactory.

The old world charm hotel blended with modern aesthetics. Very homely.

Maybe a health club/gym kind of space can help.

The location is excellent and the heritage building is beautiful. The old world charm of this hotel stood out for me. It has all modern facilities yet you feel like you are in a different era as soon as you see the staircase

Kitchen staff could be better trained, thats the only feedback I have. The breakfast could be managed better, we had few slips in our orders

Noise from the hotel’s own night club and bar can make it impossible to sleep at night. Ask for a room as far away from the noise as possible.

I liked the location, easy walk to Park Street. Nice little bar and breakfast was reasonable. Need to be aware there is no lift, there are 81 steps to the suite on the top floor. Staff were very nice.

Perhaps lacked a bit of atmosphere in reception. Staff got orders wrong a couple of times and presented us with the bar bill for another couple (as well as our own one) which we paid for by mistake. A expensive error which we were not happy about.

Feels like a Victorian gentlemen’s club tucked away in the heart of the city. Wood paneling, wainscoting, steampunk objects. Nice terraced bar & smoking area. Excellent kebab restaurant and a mellow breakfast buffet w/ exquisite Indian Muzak.

Das Service-Personal (mit Ausnahme der Rezeption) war sehr nett und zuvorkommend, teilweise aber auch anstrengend, weil bspw. im Restaurant 4 Mitarbeitende um einen herum standen und abwechselnd fragten, ob alles gut sei. Die Räume sind sauber, großzügig und gut ausgestattet. Das angeschlossene Restaurant ist auch sehr gut.

Leider ist Schlaf Glückssache in diesem Hotel. Wir waren erst in Zimmer 116, das eirklich genau an der Terrassenbar liegt. Laute Musik bis nach Mitternacht, laute Aufräumarbeiten und Gespräche waren bis nach Mitternacht üblich. Nach längerer Diskussion sind wir dann in Zimmer 118 umgezogen, wo es nachts leider genauso laut war. Dieses Mal war es der Lärm des hauseigenen Nachtklubs, bis 5 Uhr morgens. Leider scheint das Problem schon länger bekannt zu sein, wenn man die Erfahrungsberichte liest. Das Personal an der Rezeption reagiert leider gar nicht oder nur sehr unfreundlich. Auch uns wurde von "corrective actions" (siehe Antworten des Hotels auf ältere Bewertungen) erzählt, auf Nachfrage, was geändert wird, haben wir jedoch keine Antwort erhalten. Ich bin sicher nicht lärmempfindlich und feiere selbst gerne, aber so etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt. Fazit: Der Betreiber sollte sich entscheiden, ob er ein Hotel oder eine Party-Location führen möchte. Beides klappt nicht! Ich rate schweren Herzens von einem Besuch dieses Hotels ab.

A beautiful old property, lovely rooftop bar and amazing, very helpful staff. The rooms were cleaned regularly. The restaurant was also great.

I was put in a smoking room which as a none smoker smelt disgusting, this room was also dirty. I was able to be moved to the none smoking floor after the first night which was much better, but I don’t think people should be put in these rooms without it being checked if they are actually smokers. It smelled of staid smoke but also had smoke from other rooms on the floor wafting in. Also, there is a very loud night club in the hotel which is open some nights. Ear plugs just about helped drown it out for me but friends in other rooms had it worse.

The cleaning service trolley was stationed outside our room (200) so the conversations of cleaning staff disturbed us. I think they should only let this room when hotel is full. Also no natural light in this room.

The noise from the nightclub was appalling and continued till 3.00 a.m. The staff on duty claimed they were helpless. Were it not for the inability to sleep I would rate the propertly much higher. (I used to stay here routinely decades ago.)

Ein schönes Haus mit Flair ,gutem Service und nettem Personal. Das inkludierte Frühstück war super! Park street in ca 15 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen . Habe 3x zu Abend gegessen und war begeistert!

I want to particularly appreciate the staff of the hotel. They were extremely welcoming and made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. I would highly recommend this hotel for the warmth and hospitality it offers.

The staff was lovely and Mr MD Shabbir Ali, the relatively new Front Office Manager, was very helpful in helping us choose restaurants during our stay. We chose the Astor because we preferred something more "old world" than some of the newer hotel towers without charm in Kolkata. It is also rather near the lively Park Street area with its restaurants and other activities

Overall, we liked everything. We chose a lovely large suite which was very comfortable on the first floor, but it looked over the air conditioning units for the entire hotel, and the noise was a bit disturbing. I believe that the hotel has the intention of rectifying this situation in the near future.

Beautiful on the outside. Plenty of hot water. Buffet breakfast included was nice. Staff friendly and helpful.

The noise from the nightclub kept us awake and would stop us from booking again. Not much for people with food intolerances on the evening menu. Could do with some updating on the inside. Shower heads need cleaning better or replacing, duvets need replacing. After one bed change, one bed was not given a duvet cover just two sheets, could clearly see how bad the duvet was.

The staff were phenomenal, couldn't do enough for you. Bed was comfy, room was spotless, shower was fabulous.

My window was right at the bar level which could get a little noisy.

We had a fantastic stay, the kebab restaurant was top quality and we enjoyed a drink on the bar terrace. Very relaxed atmosphere and would happily stay again.

Good location with many restaurants within walking distance. The building is quite charming with historic features. Comfortable beds although some may find them too soft - I don't think the mattresses offered any support.

Rooms are a little tired, although comfortable. The whole hotel smells a bit musty. It could do with a deep clean and a spruce up, although retaining the heritage aspects. As other reviewers have mentioned, there's a nightclub on the ground floor of the hotel which is very loud. Luckily our room was at the other end of the building but when we entered we could hear the bass from the corridor so the closer rooms would definitely be affected. On the pricey side for the condition of the facilities.
