Quiet Location that's away from the hustle & bustle of Jonker Street yet still a short easy walk from most attractions. Ms Winnie gave me a warm welcome on arrival and also excellent F&B recommendations. Enjoyed a pleasant stay in the South Room on ground floor, especially its tranquil garden. There's a cosy little café on site that's open 9am-5pm, super convenient for those times when you don't feel like going out for meals. 😊
Water pressure in Shower a bit weak but still acceptable. Would have preferred having a mini fridge in room rather than a shared one. Can't escape the mosquitoes but property provided bug spray & mosquito coils. Cover up with long sleeves & pants and you should be safe from bites. 😉
Location was nearby to jonker streets.
This place is not worth the money, things are way to old in the name vintage, dusty full of mosquitoes the widows was rusty and most importantly there is no on side parking I had to pay 100 ringgit parking fee 100 meters away from the locations plus there no mention on staircase as I am diabetic patients I find it hustling claiming up the staircase which was so narrow! Way to expensive for a rusty, dusty and hustling place ! To add on more there is no onside receptionist we have to pass through an café which apparently run by other owner and we have open and lock the doors by ourselves! I also got an eye infection the very first night of my stay which I believe was an insect bite, totally not worth the price plus the windows are too open anyone can easily clamp up and they only give mosquitoe coil which the old fashion style! Probably would never repeat my stay!
The glasses long time no clean. Many dust.
A cozy nature ambiance but in a city centre. Near to everything that u need & desire.
Nothing to complain. Perfect as for my stay.
I had a wonderful 3-day, 2-night stay at Opposite Place in Melaka. The setting and decorations are beautiful, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the lovely bathtub! The host was incredibly kind and accommodating, allowing me to check in early, and the kakak provided very clear instructions throughout my stay. Despite being close to the roadside, the place was surprisingly peaceful and quiet. The location is excellent, with Jonker Street just a short walk away. Overall, it offers great value for the price, and I truly enjoyed my stay. Highly recommended!
The Opposite Place was an exceptional place to stay in Melaka. We had the beautifully designed and cosy ground floor bedroom, which really was lovely to come home to every night. Winnie the manager was a wonderful person and does a fabulous job of running the place. Located in the old town, we highly recommend staying here to experience the culture and cuteness of Melaka.

Location, design and service :)
Lovely! Full of character and charm!
The location was excellent and the accommodation itself very stylish and comfortable, with a warm welcome and helpful staff. We also enjoyed the cafe downstairs which was equally charming and hidden away.
Nothing. We can’t fault it!
The room was exactly as described. Winnie our host was extremely helpful and gave us some Wonderful restaurant suggestions. We didn't notice any excess noise from the cafe below as mentioned in other reviews. You get access to the room via the cafe and are given good clear instructions of how this works, even when the cafe is closed
Location 5 🌟 Room 4 🌟 Services 5 🌟 Vibe ❤️
There is a backyard for this room ,it will have mosquito They provide mosquito coils for it
The design, facilities, veiws and furnishings of the house are all great. The nearby café offers tasty food, which is convenient for dining, and the servers are very approachable.
The Opposite Place is a very nicely renovated residential part of a old shop. It is very well done and memorable place to stay. It is well appointed and is very quiet even though close to the main tourist areas.
great location, ground floor, open yet private space, thoughtful decor, dehumidifier-fan-aircon combination worked great, Netflix, good quality toilet rolls, comfortable. Last but least, good value for money.
1. It was a hassle and added pressure to have to lock up a café business every time we wanted to get in/out of the property after 5pm. 2. The thin glass panel separating the café and the room on the ground floor was very flimsily constructed - no handle, no locking mechanism from the inside, and it was positioned too closely to the opening of the room door. 3. We would be bitten by the mosquitoes if we forgot to light the mosquito coil in the ensuite bathroom which was a few steps, a glass door and a further few stops away in the courtyard. 4. Whilst there were many light switches, the lighting was romantic/dim at best.
Amazing place, beautiful decors, wonderful location, I felt like I was living la dolce vita in a small town in Italy. Bed was comfortable, the manager Winnie was firm but always made sure was in order.
Lots of mosquitoes, so need to be mindful to Keep the dooors close. In the morning at 9.15am, I was woken up by the music coming from the cafe. It was strange as they didn’t have any customers at that time. So if you’re the type to party and sleep late, you have to be mindful this will likely happen. You will also hear people who walk past the room at the back alleys; but this is unavoidable.
Det var så fantastiskt fint och speciellt. Vi kände oss som hemma och blev väl mottagna av personal. Rekommenderas starkt! Läget är perfekt, mitt i China Town och alla sevärdheter.
I love the individuality of the rooms. Tastefully done. The mattresses and pillows were great as well as the sheets. I had an outdoor bath which was nice to hang out in..
There are no lifts- just so you know. But I didn’t mind it.
It was like a visit to dreamland, phantoms of cinema history, beautiful room design, the big Monty Python Book on the desk. Formidable experience!
The decors was excellent
Shower leaked in main room to wooden floor
This place was a true haven in the most amazing location - close to the tourist hub, but in a calm and quiet place where you can't hear any of the noise. We could sit out in our balcony/bathroom area and watch sunbirds flying about in the flowers and peer down into the laneways behind. Our room was beautifully decorated with amazing vintage movie posters. Our host Winnie was kind, generous and responsive to messages. We loved entering the building through the plants, walking through the gorgeous cafe and up the stairs to our room. A perfect little romantic getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here and hope to come back.
I would have felt more comfortable with a mosquito net for the bed, but the mosquito coils in the open bathroom area were enough. If you are squeamish about a fairly open bathroom, choose a different room but DEFINITELY come here - this place is very special and unique.
The environment and the atmosphere.
The cafe was unnoticed from the road.
Good location
Expensive, please be prepared that your stay will come with inconvenient check-in, no facilities, no breakfast. For the price I’ve paid, there are much better hotel options nearby which provide far better value. The water pressure was rather weak, which was quite annoying when taking a shower. During rain, water sprayed into the toilet, which was very unpleasant.
•Location : pretty close to Jonker Street
• Expensive, please be prepared that your stay will come with no parking, no facilities, no breakfast. For the price I've paid , there is a lot better options nearby. Also, I need to pay RM30 for overnight parking at the parking lot which recommended by the PIC as I couldn't find any free parking, just FYI. • The room itself is clean and tidy but my husband and I feel very uncomfortable the moment we step in the room. We found some of the photos that hanging on the wall very disturbing instead of aesthetically pleasing to a point we couldn't sleep whole night . But Art is subjective, so this is not a bad thing, just something we didn't like. • The water pressure is rather weak , abit annoyed when taking shower and the fridge is broken :/ • Zero Soundproofing, we can hear the music from cafe downstairs and noise from the outside including motor...people talking..praying sound...
Beautifully presented room with freestanding bath, spacious and comfortable. Communication with the host was excellent and they recommended several points of interest in Malacca which was helpful. Drinking water was provided and refilled. Great to have a coffee machine and Netflix. Location is right next to Jonker Street and a local mosque so can hear call to prayer which was nice. Lots of halal food options close by.
Nothing. Property was beyond expectation.
I like the design space and it makes me feel back to Bali!
I’m a light sleeper. Can hearing water sound but overall is very great stay.
this place is superb & beyond my expectations! yes, there were mosquitoes, but the host has prepared the repellent inside-out. we ended up cancelling most of our plans just so we can have more time to stay in - it was that great! the host is very friendly as well :)
nothing. everything's perfect! oh. only one thing - if there's a discount / voucher for carpark, it will be awesome. (for the weekend rate at Carpark Kg Hulu, it was RM 30 per night & and u have to wait for the available spot)
Mosquitoes
Relaxing stay, the staff was very friendly
Perfect location. Right next to Jonker St. market/China town and close to local cafes, bars, massage, and historical red square. Comfortable bed. Very clean. The outdoor shower was very nice.
Some mosquitoes around outdoor shower and toilet area, as to be expected.
The location is fantastic but what’s come with such location is the noise from vehicles on the main road nearby, especially after midnight. It didn’t bother me much but my companion had hard time falling asleep on first night. I also like the view from the window of the bathroom area. The alley below is clean and looks serene.
No bedroom slippers is provided and I don’t feel so good having bare foot on the carpet.
My friend and I have really enjoyed our stay at this charming guesthouse. Especially loved our room with semi open balcony. The bathtub was really cute and the flowers and plants around the windows were highlight of our morning wake up! Owner was very nice, showed us all rooms with different designs, and how they made. Also very quiet even it is in the center of everything. I will come back for sure!
Very quirky, beautifully and tastefully furnished. Hosts were very welcoming. It’s in a great location with lots of cafes, street art and restaurants around. I would not hesitate to recommend to others.
It was all good!
Our first-floor room at The Opposite Place had a real vibe. Loved the decor, the atypical arty feel, and the greenery views from the six windows! It’s perfectly located in the center of Melaka, making it ideal for exploring the old town. Great communication with Winnie, and Joy was very helpful.
original and full of character, and beautiful room in an old house.
Decor is great, it’s a very nice place and well located. I extended my stay because it’s genuinely as nice as it looks!
Very beautiful and cozy places to stay.
Nothing
We love the place very much, was attracted to its outdoor garden design which connected to the room. Location: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (walking distance to jonker street and river side restaurant) Property: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (natural surroundings with peaceful atmosphere) Cleanliness : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Clean and neat, very comfy) Parking: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (there is public car park and paid car park nearby the acccomodation) Overall all good, however there is improvement to be made to match its value and the price charge Mattress : ⭐️⭐️ Only 2 star given to its mattress because it is totally not comfortable. The mattress is sagging and low quality due to high vibration (one person with little motion, another person having high vibration shaking) None of us having good sleep due to the mattress problem , we hope that the mattress issue can be solved as the room rate is as high as 5 star hotel price.

Excellently furnished.
some mosquitos.
Beautiful old house
No breakfast included, but good location so easy to find in the vicinity
The facilities so unique, the atmosphere staying there was wonderful.
The toilet position, and the plant which was hanging there maybe need to relocated to avoid the dropping of leaves into the basin.
I love all about this place…super nice, cozy and strategic place to explore Melaka
You have to be patient to find parking.
Yes, the interior and the design
The toilet located outside the room. Which need to walk a corridor to reach the toilet. Very troublesome to walk from the room to the toilet as you need to cross a corridor to reach the toilet and the toilet is kind of “outdoor”
The exquisite design of the apartment made the stay very special. We also loved the big bathroom with a bath and separate sinks. The bed was super comfy and the location was good for exploring the main areas of Malacca. Also really appreciated the host receiving us for check-in.
Nothing to complaint about.
the location and the ambience of the room
nothing
It was not only very clean and well-maintained, but also beautifully designed with a cozy and aesthetic atmosphere. It made my stay all the more enjoyable, and I truly appreciated the attention to detail.
I would like to suggest adding a few additional facilities such as an iron, ironing board, and toiletries bag in the rooms. I believe these would further enhance the comfort and convenience of your guests.
Right in the midst of Jonker street so one could easily walk around and get the feel of the place!
The interior exceeded expectations. The location was amongst everything without being loud or overly busy. Winne was exceptionally helpful.
Love the heritage vibe and environment especially in the king suite room. Convenient fridge in the hall for some beers and wine. Very near to Jonker street and riverside. Location is fabulous, there’s a 2 minute walk open space car park. Don’t really have to bother much about parking since Jonker is very Jam. Will definitely come back here, our host Winnie is very kind and friendly too!
Nothing much to dislike
the decor and style of the room, the courtyard etc.
the room could be bigger, the door lock was a bit annoying to use at night. the coffee area could be bigger for cups and etc.
Love the aesthetic
Location within beautiful Malacca, movement around the private courtyard and connection to site.
the ambience, the place! all is good 😍
Not much to say
Ground floor room had a strange smell, I work in construction, and the smell reminded me of rotting wood. The pictures are not very clear on the fact that the toilet and shower are outside. This property is also a bit overpriced, they charge as much as a hotel but they are not a hotel.
The ambience and location was perfect.
mosquitos
The design of the whole house and the rooms are great. A good mixture between historic local culture and modern needs. E.g. the TV, the Nspresso coffee machine and many more details.
It was a pity that the cafe downstairs had very limited opening hours and also a number of restarants in the neighborhood have been closed as well.
Love eclectic aesthetic, warm ambience, nice attention to detail, will definitely return
