The Penta

The rooms were spotless and very spacious. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. The Penta is located about a 20 minute walk to the town centre, we didn’t mind this, there are frequent buses and it is a lovely walk on a nice day. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, they offered all we needed and we were very happy.

We couldn’t switch the heater off in the bathroom in one of the rooms. It wasn’t sorted until the day before we left. Reception isn’t 24 hours, it wasn’t a problem for us as there is a phone to contact the sister hotel. Steep steps at the front, which were slippery when wet which is a shame because it wouldn’t be suitable for my mum who is a wheelchair user. Rooms are only serviced every other day, we had to request extra tea bags and milk because they didn’t leave enough.

Good sized bedroom with en-suite. Very comfortable bed, plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Large flat screen T.V., Hospitality tray. Room was serviced every other day and maintained to the highest standards. It seemed to me that the hotel had recently undergone a full renovation , En-suite comprised bath with shower, wash basin and toilet. A complimentary continental style cold buffet breakfast is offered. The hotel is situated on the promenade approximately one mile from the Sea Terminal. Friendly and helpful staff

I could find nothing which needed improvement.

Bed was ok. TV was huge (looked like a 65" plasma). Toiletries provided.

TV possibly too big for the room. Couldn't find the switch for the bathroom sink cabinet lights.

Reception closed early, pretty basic but room was fine, no restaurant.

Het bed: matras te zacht en bed te klein. Opteer beter voor 'twins' bed. Het ontbijt: alleen 'zoet' graag aanvullen met kaas en vooral een sterkere koffie ( veel te slap). Betere verlichting maar 1 lamp aan 1 kant van het bed.

Exceptionally helpful owner and staff. Very good sized room. Contact made in advance of arrival for arrangements for accessing hotel and on departure were very amenable in arranging to look after luggage until it was time to check in at ferry Exceptional value for money with a complimentary basic breakfast.

The only slight thing was that I could have done with more milks being left on the tea/coffee tray - especially as room serviced only every other day but this is an exceptionally minor point.

It is well positioned as a satellite for another hotel. Us clean, friendly and perfect for our needs.

The hotel room was clean and comfortable and had a decent size bathroom so you could move about in it freely. The bed was comfortable although only a half size duvet provided but this may because I was single occupancy. I didn't have breakfast in my plans so cannot comment on that. The hotel is about 3/4 way along the promenade so location is a matter of perspective. It's about 30 minutes to walk to the city centre but 10 minutes to walk to Derby Castle for the Electric Railway and the casino was five minutes away if that's your thing. The beach is just across the road. However there is a frequent bus service most of the day (every 20 minutes) and buses run from the City until just after 23:30 so if you have a Go-Explore ticket you can just hop on and off buses which I did. The bus stop was only about a hundred metres or so away from the hotel.

Room only serviced every other day so ran out of tea bags and milk in the room between services. I think if you need more you need to tell the staff at the breakfast room in the morning so that they can replenish this but found that out too late!

Very clean, especially the bathroom, clean siliconing round the bath and skirting boards, clean tiles and grouting. Coffee and biscuits, hairdryer. Very spacious room, multiple windows letting light in. Nice breakfast, basic, cereal, toast, jams, yogurts and juices, all that I needed. Informative lady on reception for bus info etc

Excellent location albeit next to a hotel that had been boarded up. Staff very friendly and helpful Breakfast was very basic but okay. Rooms were slightly dated but clean Good value for money.

Hotel room was excellent. Big with big bathroom. Everything you needed. The girl cleaning room was brilliant. When I was out the cleaned room to perfection 👌 Breakfast chould be improved but tske nothing away. Id go back.

It was a bit further along the front than I expected so a bit of a walk, though there is a bus stop nearby. Reception was unstaffed so I had to ring them.

Можно смело брать, если подходит цена.

Если достался номер с внутренней стороны, то там снизу расположена какая-то вентиляция, которая иногда может быть очень шумной ночью. Просите номер с видом на море

Good sized, clean rooms with en-suite. Windows opened for fresh air, No significant noise from other rooms or nearby (other than bikes on the main prom road - but it was the start of TT practice week!). The taxi firm recommended by the hotel, 'Elegance', where excellent - offering a timely service at a reasonable cost, with friendly drivers and telephone staff.

Continental breakfast was limited - although many will find it adequate. Steps to main entrance not accessibility friendly. Lift is small, and a little disconcerting as it drops a couple of inches when you get in. Not for those who are nervous or claustrophobic!

My 6th stay at this lovely hotel. Nice staff, and the rooms are very big and well appointed. Everything is clean and tidy and the complimentary Continental breakfast is a nice touch.

We were very happy with this hotel. We were on 4th floor but there was a lift! The room was a good size with good storage and good en suite. It was very clean. We were pleasantly surprised with the complimentary breakfast! Choice of cereal and as many slices of toast you wanted (cooked breakfast was available in their partner hotel a bit down the road from this one but we didn't bother). Any staff we met were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again. Felt we got value for money.

The hotel is next door to an empty building, the windows of which are boarded up. As our room was at the side of our building, this was our view. Great privacy though.

There is nothing to dislike!

The room was clean and good. Staff was freindly and assisted us when requested. The hotel is close to the beach and also reasonably walking distance from the ferry port.

After 4 pm, there was no one at the reception, though the phone service was good and I got advice on how to collect the key to the room allocated to us.

The Penta is located on the promenade, so as well as sea views, frequent buses run into town and other areas and the Manx Electric Railway is about a 10 minute walk away. The hotel itself was clean, the room was large and comfortable, the staff were helpful and the check in process was smooth (if you arrive out of hours, simply pick up the phone and someone will give you the code to a lock box containing the key to your room). The rate includes a complimentary breakfast of toast, cereal, yoghurt, fruit juice & tea/coffee, but if you want something more substantial, a paid option is available from their sister hotel which is a short walk away.

I would have liked the tv mounted on the wall or placed on a box, or something similar, so that it was higher than the height of the bed. A mini fridge would be nice, but I don't really expect that from a budget hotel.

Breakfast was limited choice. Perhaps some soft cheese and pastries.

Everything was nice as usually :-), we enjoyed the stay in beautiful island.

It’s right on the Promenade making it easy to get to the the attractions in Douglas. The bicycle storage is secure and has e-bike charging points.

I chose a room at the back which didn’t have a view of the bay. The rooms at the front would have great sunrises.

Mattress too soft, pillows too flat, should be provision to boil your own egg at breakfast, some nicer bread than sliced at breakfast would be good, plain natural yoghurt without sugar should be offered at breakfast, something savoury on toast like Marmite and a fruit bowl should also be offered at breakfast.
