Very communicative and helpful staff before and during our stay. They contacted us early on the day of our arrival via WhatsApp. Confirmed our need for a sofa bed and asked if we required it to be set up, which they did. Access codes provided with clear instructions. Large 2 bedroom suite with well stocked refrigerator, good views, nice terrace. Arranged taxi for our departure.

Hot water in one bedroom was sometimes a hit or miss affair, but not a major issue.

Me encanto el lugar en todos lo sentidos, esta cómodo, muy bonitas instalaciones, excelente servicio del staff, y cercano al templo de Santo Domingo. Yo tenia una boda y me fui caminando a la iglesia. También nos dieron recomendaciones de restaurantes para desayunar cercanos y fueron buenos.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Very clean and great shower pressure. Jack was wonderful he was so helpful and did his best to make sure we had a great stay. We stayed on the top floor which has these circular stairs so it’s quite a climb up getting to room would request lower level. The internet did not work which is a problem for people needing wifi. A lot of noise at night as many weddings take place in Oaxaca on the weekend.

The location was great and close to everything and the rooms were lovely in style and comfortable. The staff were nice but not particularly helpful when problems arose.

Lot's of things didn't work very well in the room - the bifold doors to our terrace were very difficult to close so we didn't get to use it which was a shame. Worst of all, our door wouldn't lock for the duration of the trip, which felt very unsafe and the staff just basically told us we had to live with it as they had no other room. The said they would give us compensation but have subsequently ignored our contact with them. Additionally, the entrance hall really echoes so each night we were woken up by other guests returning late.

Design of this small hotel is stunning. The size, decor and comfort of our suite were exceptional. Staff are friendly and super helpful. This is our favorite area of Oaxaca to stay in. Will be back in 2027!

Great small hotel, with spacious well-designed rooms, very centrally located. Service was also incredible, Samuel was the best! He accommodated all of our requests and provided us with great suggestions for restaurants and activities!

High quality facilities, with great design, engaged & friendly staff with an excellent central location.

The location is perfect and right at the centre of Oaxaca City. The staff are also very nice and let us check in early because the room is already ready. They also helped us call a taxi to the airport on the checkout date. The pool was a bit chilly but overall very good vibe and clean room. Highly recommended.

Le lieu est trés beau. Et l'emplacement aussi bien sur mais ce n'est pas une surprise.

Ne même pas avoir la possibilité de boire un café le matin pour un établissement aussi cher c'est vraiment abusé. De même que la douche qui est soit brulante, soit froide. Bref pas trés grave en soit, mais pas pour ce tarif qui est celui d'un hotel de trés grand luxe au mexique.

Annonce mensongère. La surface de la chambre semble intégrer la surface de la terrasse. Ça change la donne... En outre, l'isolation phonique est désastreuse et il n'y a aucun service.

Leider hat das WiFi im Hotel gar nicht funktioniert. Wir haben mehrmals mit dem Personal Kontakt aufgenommen, anscheinend konnte man nichts machen. Wir haben daraufhin das Hotel gewechselt, da noch weitere Sachen leider gar nicht gepasst haben. Es hat zudem auch keine Reception und lauft alles über Codes. Mit einem Hotel hat es wenig zu tun, es gleicht einem AirBnB Charakter. Die Türen werden dann anscheinend erst um 7Uhr morgens aufgetan und um 23 Uhr wieder geschlossen. Lediglich eine Person ist jeweils da, welche die Lage “überwacht”. Die Preise scheinen mir daher sehr überhöht zu sein, für das was man erhält und ist. Würde ich leider nicht weiterempfehlen.

El concepto en general está lindísimo, muy cómodo y excelentemente bien ubicado, la habitación cumple bastante bien con las expectativas y los espacios comunes también son sumamente agradables

El internet nunca funcionó, para nosotros no fue un tema porque no lo necesitábamos mucho, pero en ciertos casos sí podría representar un problema. También resultó difícil tener el agua tibia en el baño, o salía muy fría o muy caliente, costaba trabajo encontrar el punto medio.

La ubicación es excelente, cerca del centro histórico pero con la distancia necesaria para no estar expuestos a ruidos. La decoración, limpieza y diseño de las instalaciones son excelentes. La atención, disposición y apoyo del personal son de destacar. Totalmente recomendado!

Es una excelente opción de hospedaje. Tiene una excelente ubicación, cerca de la Catedral de Santo Domingo y con muchas deliciosas opciones de comida alrededor. La habitación superó nuestras expectativas por su amplio tamaño, limpieza y decoración. Y no quisiera dejar de mencionar la atención del staff, quienes siempre estuvieron al pendiente de lo que requiriéramos.

Macando Arte was simply stunning. The apartment, the furnishings, and the common areas and exterior were all gorgeous and well appointed with a modern design, beautiful art and great furnishings. The bed was super comfortable and there was plenty of closet space to unpack. I especially loved the pool - it was so lovely to cool off there after a hot day of walking around. The staff were friendly and helpful - always on hand to help out with questions. We had to leave at 4:30 am and a staff member was there to help carry our bags down the stairs. The location couldn't be better - close to everything but also on a quiet street. It was close to Llano Parque which was also a chill spot to get snacks and people watch. If we return to Oaxaca I would definitely stay at Macando!

For the price it would've been nice to have some kind of breakfast. That said, it gave us a opportunity to visit some great breakfast places nearby. Also the taxi service offered by the hotel was incredibly expensive. Luckily, a friend help arrange an a very early-morning taxi or I would've much more.

Très belle décoration, très bon emplacement. Piscine et terrasse en accès libre. 15 minutes à pied du Zocalo, 2 minutes du jardin botanique. Un excellent endroit pour profiter de cette superbe ville de Oaxaca.

Beautiful boutiques hotel in the center of Oaxaca. It is perfectly located, near Santo Domingo and many galleries and good restaurants. The street is quiet. The room is spacious, very clean and comfortable. There is a nice, small pool to enjoy during warm days. The staff is really kind and helpful. I will stay here in my future trips to Oaxaca.

I believe all rooms at Macondo Arte are large with a similar layout that includes a kitchenette. Ours had a little porch. The room above had a lovely deck. You are pretty much on your own, although staff helped us get a taxi, the housekeeping was good, and staff was responsive overall. We appreciated the closet space and, most of all, the comfortable bed. The hotel is located in a quiet part of town with pretty much everything within walking distance. Really enjoyed the roof deck. The pool is a nice feature but not very large.

Would appreciate tips about the neighborhood. We had fun discovering nearby places, but always appreciate local insight for things like restaurant suggestions.

The place is gorgeous. We loved the bed (hard mattress for the win), and the shower that had a great water pressure which is rare in LATAM. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. The rooftop terrace was lovely, especially at night.

The location was very central and convenient. The decor was so beautiful. Our room had a lovely outdoor terrace. The pool area was Instagram heaven. The staff were super attentive. The coffee machine was great too.

The beds were a little hard. The doonas were too thick for the warm Oaxaca winter.

Very nice rooms, we got the deluxe suite which had a small kitchen great for our kids, and the Rebecca suite on top floor had lovely outdoor patio. Location great. Only but is — the front desk. There is no front desk - so you can only communicate with staff is through booking.Com app or if you see them in lobby. They try, but have so-so English and app emails take a few minutes . Suggestion would be to have a front desk staffed with regular concierge type during business hours

The hotel has got a very nice modern feel, the location is absolutely perfect and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The big king size bed was extremely comfortable and the duvet and linen felt nice and cosy.

Staff only there in the mornings, although always answer immediately on WhatsApp. No restaurant on site so no breakfast available, but well equipped kitchenette and an upmarket mall literally 20m from the door has good cafes (cafe Avocado has gluten free breakfast from 10:00 onwards)

Our stay at Hotel Macondo Arte Oaxaca was a mix of impressive elements and notable disappointments. The hotel’s architecture and room facilities are undoubtedly of a high standard, with thoughtful design and attention to detail. The location is also excellent, making it easy to explore the city.

However, the experience fell short of what one expects from a 5-star hotel. The lack of a reception desk and the reliance on self-check-in, with access codes sent shortly before arrival, felt impersonal and below the advertised standard. There was no minibar, no room service, and no elevator—meaning we had to carry our luggage upstairs ourselves. While a cleaning maid kindly offered to help, we declined as we felt it was not her responsibility. The communication was mostly handled via Booking.com’s messaging system, and while functional, it lacked the professionalism and attentiveness one expects from a 5-star property. The airport transfer arrangement was particularly frustrating; we were not informed that payment was to be made directly to the driver, which caused unnecessary confusion. Once we expressed our disappointment, the staff made commendable efforts to address our concerns. They provided extra coffee pods, pool towels, and even cookies, which we greatly appreciated. On our departure day, a staff member came to assist with our luggage. However, this happened at 6 AM, half an hour before our transport was scheduled, leaving us unprepared and making the gesture feel awkward and poorly coordinated. If the hotel marketed itself as a stylish boutique hotel and a 3-star property, we would happily give it a 10/10 rating. But coming here with the expectation of a 5-star experience, we felt misled. Transparency about the level of service offered would go a long way in managing guest expectations. Overall, while the hotel has its charms and potential, the misleading 5-star claim left us feeling disappointed. Tipp to the hotel management: make the service you provided to us after our complaint your new standard.

the decor of the room was beautiful, very spacious with kitchen. it was very easy to check in, even though there wasn't an official lobby. the rooftop area was well decorated. the pool was very aesthetic, although i'm not sure if it was really big enough to swim in. just big enough to take a cooling dip.

it was a bit noisy sometimes. dog barking, loud engines from the street. there was noise from upstairs, sounded like someone was rolling their suitcase and walking in high heels and I could hear it clearly. the pot we used to boil water had a funky residue in it, and even after we washed it, the second time still had some strange residue that rose to the top of the boiling water and stayed there.

We had literally an apartment sized room with a living room and a kitchen. It is very quiet and in great location. Beautiful decoration. The staff was very pleasant and helpful when they were there. Highly recommend as long as you don't expect a more traditional hotel service. Very clean and great amenities.

The bed was too hard for us, and the staff kept forgetting to replenish the coffee pods in the morning. There is no lobby and the staff is only there at certain times of the day.

definitely not worth your money. we paid for a deluxe suite and we were placed on the ground floor, with windows to the common area on one side and the other, if we changed with the blinds open (to get some natural light) everyone from the outside could see us so to have some privacy we had to be in the dark… In addition the doors to the rooms are automatic with number pins and ours didnt work so we had to sleep and leave our door open with all of our things in our room for two nights. the staff kept telling us that we just had to trust them but honestly being two foreigners in a new country the minimum we asked for is for our door to close. the staff are also not prepared and definitely not at the level this hotel sells itself at. the man/custodian wreaked of alcohol the entire time and one time we found our bed completely wet. when we asked them to change the bedding they basically threw all the pillows on the ground and left them there… honestly strange. our last night late they said we could change our rooms but given we were leaving in the morning and were tired we didnt want to pack unpack and repack again so we decided to sleep with a chair on the door. by the end of our stay i felt completely scammed.
