The hotel was very nice and close to town etc

It says that the bar shuts at 1030 but the entertainment was on alot later especially Saturday night when music was still playing at midnight so hard to sleep

The location is convenient for the town centre and park. Our room was a good size and the bed was quite comfortable.

There was no handwash or shower gel in the containers in the ensuite and this issue wasn't addressed despite reporting it to the person at the bar who had checked us in. The noise of the karaoke from the bar below our room was so loud it vibrated the floor and bed and went on until 11.40pm.

Great location, walking distance from town center. Quirky deco and lovely landlady. Would definitely go back.

Unfortunately shower was cold, the only downside.

Friendly bar-keep showed me round the corner + customers welcoming too.Statues of George Formby + Billy Boston.George's is a bit short -he was 5ft 11in.Billy was topical unfortunately -he died that week.Wagtails.

Quiet location overall and lots of milk! Tea and coffee was plentiful. Like the freedom to come and go separate from the main pub area. There were however some concerns. The TV did not work and this I found was due to the aerial being cut. The shower backed up and almost flooded over the top of the shower base. The hole in the broken window let a moth in waking me up in the early hours.

No hot water. Blocked shower. The hotel are clearly aware multiple reports of this. We were unable to shower after a long bike ride. Stunk of smoke and unclean. Soap dispenser empty no toiletries this is an issue if you pack light for a bike ride. Check in booked under wrong name causing stress confusion and delay after long bike ride. We also complained after giving hotel opportunity to repair they said sorry and that they would resolve. Be aware they won’t this is a longstanding problem

tv only had a few stations no bbc1-2 or itv , did call down and manager said would pop up very soon but after a hour half . and the plug in shower room was block and water took for ever to go down

Staff arguing at 01:00 kept everyone awake. No hot water at 07:00. No parking

I was just looking for a decent place to sleep.

The window would not open, there was no Wi-Fi, and the water in the shower did not drain away.

It wouldn’t pretend to be high end but we booked 3 nights to get to the Open Golf in Birkdale. There only seemed to be one female member of staff who seemed to work tirelessly and was happy polite and welcoming. It served our purposes and was a great choice for what we needed.

Room wasn’t cleaned in our 3 nights. Not a problem for us (2 blokes going to the The Open Golf) but may be an issue for others. Toilet a bit noisy.

Good price for what you got

A bit dated, could do with a bit of renovation. Heat was stifling on the top floor, could do with a couple of fans to circulate some air

Lovely place near the centre of Wigan. Very good value.

There was no hot water in the shower and door didn’t close proper so water got all over the floor

It was close to town center . The one member of staff we met was lovely . ( katrina ) i think her name was .

The dust in the room . The cup with spit in on the sink in bathroom . No towels . No milk . The bed half made . The tv with the ariel that had no were to stand apart from actually being on the corner of the tv also tv didnt work properly . No shampoo or shower gel . Dirty brown rings on sink . Not the room we paid for .

It was walking distance to visit my son. Lovely eye catching decor. Friendly staff. Tea (Yorkshire) choice was great.

The heating didn’t work, the basin had marks where cracks were unprofessionally repaired. There was no soap in the dispenser in the shower. No cover for batteries in the tv remote one battery missing. This room not one of those shown on website.

Close to town centre, great pub with sports and a good selection of beers. Staff were very friendly.

The room and bathroom (single room) was clean and is a good size. You go up some staircases to get to the rooms. It also felt safe and check out is very simple - just drop the keys off.

I travelled for business purposes so was relying in the advert which stated there was WiFi. But when I went into the room, my phone and laptop could not connect to the "2.4g" WiFi for the rooms. I went down to the pub at least 3 times to clarify the password and the landlady even wrote it out and let me take a photo of the passcode. But the WiFi still wouldn't work on both my devices. I checked the password several times. Phone service isn't great in the area either, so i could not access the internet on my phone that well, or use my phone hotspot. I asked for the other wifi code for the pub That worked fine so I sat in the pub and used the "15Guest" WiFi instead. The advert said the pub was open until 10.30pm and guests are welcome to join the locals, but because I was the last one in the pub at 8.30pm on the Tuesday night, I was asked to leave as she wanted to close early. Unfortunately this affected the work I needed to do that evening which was disappointing. It would be great if the staff can look at the WiFi situation. If I wasn't travelling for business the WiFi thing wouldn't have been an issue.

Size and staff

Avoid if you want ro avoid potential card fraud - they insist on writing on a paper form kept behind the bar your full card details, including the cvc, date of birth, address etc which is totally against UK banking regulations. Your card could be used if that data gets into wrong hands

No code in room for WiFi in the old Doctors Surgery building, bar had closed so couldn't obtain it.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, although very difficult to contact

Somebody had snapped a key in the entrance to the rooms however there was no one on site to help with the situation as well as no contact phone numbers for us to ring to try and get help which meant people have to stay in other hotels and other rooms all crammed into one.

The landlady was lovely cracking little pub close to where we wanted to be will deffo stay there again

Excellent location. Room is spotless and comfortable bed. Private shower and bathroom which are also spotless. I’ll be staying here any time I’m down visiting from Scotland.

I don’t have a single bad word to say about this property.

My only negative comment is around the heat of the room it was way to hot as the radiator wouldn't turn down and there was no windows to open. I was very happy with everything else.

Somewhat difficult to access the steep staircases inside and outside the rooms area.

Not far from railway station and from the football ground. Room was decent size.

TV had no sky news and the BBC channels were off all day. No shower gel in holder.No breakfast although knew this before booking.

There were no lights woking in a widow less corridor, loose floorboards at the foot of stairs, low wattage bulbs in the room and i mean LOW, TV not working shower door would not stay closed +no soap in shower. They were going to change our room Saturday morning stayed until 11.30 no one around main entrance closed unable to contact anyone So left around 12noon.

No heating on at night..its December

The bed was very comfortable and both bathroom and bedroom were spotlessly clean.

During the first night, I was woken up by loud noises from the bathroom, made by the water tank. It was fine during the second night.

Unfortunately there was no shower gel in the en suite. I'm sure they would have sorted it but I only released when I had a morning shower.

The bed was very comfortable and I had 2 nights of quality sleep.

Unfortunately, during the middle of the first night there were noises from a water pipe, coming from my bathroom. It didn't happen during the 2nd night.

The decor and I was told the wrong way to get back in at night and we were locked out for about 20 mins in the freezing cold Until we had a look around and found another door the totally opposite side of where o was told to go which didn’t even have a hole For the key and left is distressed and thinking we would be out there all night.

Good location and we liked the decor friendly pub and staff.

Very cold in our room, had to go and buy a heater. Also dark - only a tiny frosted window with one main bulb and one small bedside lamp. Telly didn’t work and no shower gel. Pub shuts when it’s quiet so assume you’ll have to go out.

Terrible noise coming from toilet area. Carpet stapled to wall. Fresh poo stain under toilet clamp. Very tiny television With wires hanging out.

Het bed, dat was meer dan prima.

Geen koud water in de douche, wel warm en koud water bij de wasbak. Douchen kon dus niet. Aangezien wij vroeg weg moesten op zaterdag konden we pas bij terugkomst laat in de avond klagen hierover. Het antwoord, we weten het, maar we kunnen niets voor u doen. 0 service. Een andere kamer waar een vriend sliep hed alleen koud water in zijn douche.

Well and calm situated in the city.

Room I had first, mould and water on the windows, couldn’t open, no air conditioning, smelling bad. Next room, old and in need of renovation, too, was better. Very thin walls, can hear everything from the neighbours. No room service in 5 days.
