Booked room specifically as it had a bath, bath had no plug, went to reception twice to enquire but they said they couldn’t find one. Bedding was ripped and stained, 2 single beds pushed together. Fan in the room kept falling over as the base was broken.

It was close to beach town & pier the rooms were clean

TV didn't work, shower door jammed shut, mattress ancient. Had to walk past abandoned shopping trolleys to get to the Annex. The breakfast was indescribably bad. I've never stayed in a hotel so neglected. The owners need to spend some money or close the place down

The bathroom was not working, the drainage system of the wash basin in the bathroom was not working, water came out from the sink and it was overflowing, then the shower screen was broken, there was a water leakage in the shower room . The room was smelly. The window was stuck and couldn't open .

The Hotel was right by the sea front .

The annex was out the hotel ,fine but the room was dirty stain on the pillow,dusty, flies in room from the bin area out side mold in the shower No where to hang your coat after being out in the rain .I asked to.move rooms and was expected to pay an extra £10 .

The noise from other rooms next door and above until the early hours was unacceptable ! we complained and the staff did nothing we couldn't sleep because of this so would never stay here again luckily we only booked one night ! The mattress had a huge dip in it and the window was filthy with a big bin right outside

it was dirty stinking filthy stains all over beds and pillows , breakfast was disgusting , chocolate swiss roll and and boiled eggs for breakfast ,ha ha who has that , everything was broken in room , and a total fire hazard all plug sockets switches broken, this is what i didnt like , but cant be arsed typing all this out again below ,

Everything was fantastic from time of arrival until the time we left, would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for great accommodation with very polite staff and the place is spotless, location is fantastic, definitely 5 stars from me would give 10 if I could.

The location is great.

The hotel is definitely not clean, there’s mould almost everywhere. There’s a smell of old cooking oil when you walk to the annex. Bed linen is dirty, and the shower is worse. Nothing works; there’s a sellotape on the shower head, the water doesn’t drain properly in the shower etc. the bathroom light didn’t work the night before I checked out.

Affordable and good enough if your on a budget and still close to everything you need to go.

The room i was given was soo filthy dirty. The sheets were extremely dirty with visible stains and food containers in the room. I went to the reception to ask for another room which was now far from my friends room. I will never book this hotel or recommend it to anyone.

The room I stayed in was not how I managed it. The room was on the ground floor. It had messing on the walls, the sink was terrible you to wait for the water to go the plug, the toilet is near the the shower not so good when you have a fat bottom like me, the shower was lovely but the shower mat is terrible

The room was appalling. Mould everywhere, a wet patch on the carpet. No the greatest view.

The room was just fine and met all our needs well. A few chatels need minor fixing attention to spruce the room up to a 10, but this did not interfere with functioning. We slept well and were very comfortable. A pleasant stay. Thank you.

The WiFi and mobile data did not work in the room. Guests needed to sit in the lounge area to access the WiFi. No problem if just browsing, but travel planning takes a long time so we would have been more comfortable in our room doing our planning with more privacy. A few of the room instruction notices were out of date and had not been corrected eg, old WiFi code given that was invalid (the new code was at the desk in the lounge, and shower use instructions need to be corrected.

The location of the hotel or HOVELL !! was right on the sea front.!!

Staff were rude and unhelpful , the hotel is dirty and dated, signs are displayed discriminate against the disabled. the room was located at the rear of the hotel in the annex (converted stable?) up concrete stairs where the hand rail was broken. The room 204 was small with 2 windows one of which had been screwed shut and over looking a patch of waste land, the other had been "repaired" with L brackets screwed into the corners, a dirt access and the neighbouring hotels car park.The curtain didn`t fit the windows and wouldn`t close to no privacy was available. The carpet was dirty you could see where the hoover had been used in the middle of the room but the side and edges hadn`t been and the floor was uneven with dips in it the skirting board was rotten and broken. The small double bed was a plywood box with a thin lumpy mattress. The kettle was located within the wardrobe with 2 sockets for some reason? The small TV wouldn`t tune in! We tried to complain and were met with a blank dismissive shrug from the woman on reception. On route to the reception from the annex to the main HOVELL was strewn with bags of presumably dirty bedding which continued through the cellar/breakfast/restaurant area causing a fire and health and safety issue, the icing on the cake so to speak was the staff member resting his bare feet on a restaurant table so that ensured that we would not be eating in the hotel! Due to the lack of signal and wifi we ventured out to try to find alternative accommodation. unfortunately due to an event taking place all hotels were fully booked in the area. we returned to our room late in the evening to find dead creatures under our pillows ! luckily i had camping sleeping bags and blankets in our vehicle for emergencies so we recovered them and tried to make the best of our poor accommodation.

First of all the staff were nice and friendly. Unfortunately our room was pretty dire. First of all the mattress was the worst I've ever slept on. It was so thin you could feel every spring, and when you sat on the bed you just went straight gown to the base of the bed. The mirror light and extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. Half of the shower controls didn't work. You couldn't close the curtains properly because the net curtains were on the same pole. The sash window rattled in the wind. The room door rattled. The TV didn't work. The room just looked tired and grubby. We booked for 3 nights. We actually considered looking for a different hotel on our first night.

It is situated on the front and beds are comfortable

You have to sign a disclosure when you get there which you are not told about when booking stating you cant have hot food in rooms and a few other things

Everything was perfect, fantastic value for the money especially as it was on the seafront. Lovely Staff, very friendly but efficient & even changed the room for us.

Nothing not to like all beautiful and we will go there again.

Room didnt have much toilet roll. Only supplied with one tea bag. Had to ask for more of both. Tv did not work. Reported it to reception. Was told someone would come and have a look. No one came. No Internet connection is available in the rooms, so with the fact we didnt have tv either. Was very difficult to enjoy our evening together. Breakfast wasn't really what we had hoped for. Was hoping for a full English. Only cooked item on menu was eggs. Everything else was cold breakfast items.

We booked the hotel but got put in the annex at the back of the hotel. We had to get the lift to the basement, walk through corridors, across a yard that looked like a building site and then up some stairs to the room. The room reaked of damp, the bedding smelt like it had been washed but not dried (musty smell), little stones all over the carpet, tv didn't work, tap on the bathroom sink squirted out of the sink and the sink did not drain. We definitely would not recommend this place to our worst enemy...I know you only get what you pay for but we would have been better off sleeping in a doorway on the street. The couple in the next room felt exactly the same.

The rooms are soooo small. The room I got was from Anex building. I had to go the lower ground floor and then go through a passage which was not very pleasing. The room had a little window there was no ventilation. The room was so small we could even walk in the room the room finishes in like 5 steps.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Apart from that, it really wasn't worth the money. You can definitely find a much nicer place to stay for the same price.

We were really disappointed with our stay. The whole hotel is very outdated and could do with some tlc and a good deep clean. Even the entrance and reception area looked messy and unwelcoming. The first room we were given on the third floor hadn't even been cleaned or prepared before we arrived. We were moved to another room on the second floor, but it wasn't much better. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed, there was rubbish left on the floor, the shower was mouldy and leaking, and the shower door wouldn't even close properly. We booked a family room for four people, but there were only two towels provided and not even a full roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. The pillows were very flat, the furniture, chair, carpet and mattresses were all stained, and the light above the bed didn't work. The hallways were also messy, with empty glasses and rubbish left outside rooms. The room was really hot and full of flies. There was no wifi and no mobile phone signal on site. Finding a parking space can be a nightmare when the town gets busy as the hotel doesn't have private parking. To make things worse, there was hardly ever anyone at reception, so there was no one to report the problems or ask for help.

The room was not clean. Still had floor full of crisps. Moldy bathroom. Dusty fan in bathroom.

The bed was very uncomfortable mattresses so thin could feel the springs every time I moved. Also cleaner didn't stock up on toilet rolls i asked at reception on Saturday night was told they will sort it.Today Monday morning still no toilet rolls.

The location is excellent, and I was highly satisfied with the bed—the firmness was just right, and I slept really well. The staff were also incredibly friendly.

The only downside is that some of the in-room facilities are a bit old and outdated.

EVERYTHING. What they call an annxe is an outhouse the building was awful . Unlevel floors awful ,door out to outhouse falling off ,shopping trollies in the corridor. No lights into outhouse . Dirty grotty shower large tile fully ff in shower room can't close door whilst using toilet. Just awful beds just crippled us I suffered so much pain because of it . Most of all it's hard to believe booking.com have this property feel very let down with booking.com

This time when we checked into our room which was okay except the television wasn’t working. I returned to reception to report it but the receptionist didn’t seem too interested. I reported it three more times but still nothing was done, so we had to have the first night without a television. On the second day i again reported the fact to the receptionist who this time was interested and told me maintenance would be informed and would fix it. If not by 3pm he would move us to another room. We went back to the hotel at about 1.30pm and still found the television not working. I informed reception who said that maintenance had been to the room and fixed it. I informed him that it wasn’t fixed. He finally agreed to move us to another room. I also spoke to the manager who agreed to the room change. After that everything was fine.

The beach is clearly visible, the room is clean, the breakfast is good, everything was good.

Hotel looked "grubby" at first sight, went to our room, the TV was hanging off it's bracket and it was covered in a thick layer of dust. My Wife was mortified, we left after 5 minutes and booked into another hotel not far away. OK it was cheap but there is no excuse for poor cleanliness

Hotel is very run down, needs both outside and inside renovating. Cleanliness was somewhat questionable - bathroom was disgusting black mold on tiles and shower screen. toilet seat broken. Bed and bedding needs to be replaced - springs poking out of the mattress a very thin and cheap mattress topper had been put on but just needed a new bed. The hotel had a funny smell. Breakfast - room tired, broken chairs - the only hot option was toast or eggs. coffee was horrendous, fresh juices were watered down. we didn't go back form breakfast
