The room. When we originally booked, we were Told it was a double room with sea view,this was disputed and were told we had been given what we ordered. On the genius booking it stated a double with sea view.arrogant staff insisted they were right not to give us the sea view.

The location of the property it was a short walk to the shops and the orm tram. Also I enjoyed using the pool which was never full and at one time I had the pool to myself. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Everything about The Marine Hotel was excellent. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The location couldn't be better,close to the sea and town centre,plenty to do no matter the weather.

I cannot think of any that I disliked.

Whilst I am aware of the scaffolding (at least I knew which was The Marine) which indicated improvements, the entrance and general appearance does need a lot of money spending on it.

its a little dated in some areas ..meals that were included in our stay were a little like nan's dinners ..quiet plain and ordinary...tho ediable...we didnt go hungry..its all in need of some tlc but if you look passed that its very friendly comfortable and pleasant ...prices for drinks were reasonable ...carpark was a little confusing but once sorted was fine ...although I thought it lacked a little it gained with the staff etc as I mentioned ...actually we would definitely stay again

The location was excellent, and only 5 minutes from the town centre. The bar food was excellent, and good value. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Bar and food prices were better than expected. Room was comfortable and clean.

There was nothing I didn't like. I enjoyed my stay very much.

Location was excellent. We had a sea view room that looked directly over the promenade and sea. Room was large and the beds were comfortable. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.

Rather tired in places. Lifts were small and although they were safe they felt rickety.

Very very slow check in process. No secure storage facility. We could hear the waste being flushed down the pipes any time anyone in the upstairs rooms used the toilet. Not pleasant !

The Staff were nice friendly and helpful.Location was good a sea view was nice but somewhat spoiled by windmill turbines.

Stairs,although couldn’t be helped because of its age. A lift is available but because of room layout difficult to avoid at least a couple of steps. Very disappointed by being charged to use a very awkward car park. Especially as 1st come 1st served and can’t guarantee a space on arrival or if you use your car during your stay!

Bathroom was not big enough, shower was a wand and didn’t reach temperature and we had to use the bath which was small and was very uncomfortable. Bathroom also smelt of fresh silicone but receptionist dismissed the fact it had be done recently. Toilet was loose and moved. Bath anti slip mat was disgusting and we didn’t use it. Room was small and decor was in need of attention (I took photos as proof) kettle needed cleaning inside and scale was present. Net curtains had holes in and really grumpy. This was my wedding anniversary weekend with my husband and I was not impressed with the standard of the room and having paid £208 plus £50 for breakfast for the both of us to come away wishing I had booked somewhere else for the weekend.

Its like 10 people were given jobs but nobody coordinated. The bedroom curtains looked new, but the window frame and walls were chipped and flaking and falling apart. The bathroom walls and fittings were spotless but the ceiling was filthy. The hallway on 4th floor was patches of different paint. You have to give credit card details against damages, not unheard of but quite a rare thing i think, I felt I wasnt trusted. But it was just 1 night and cheap

Rooms weren’t cleaned to the best standards, hotel is a little outdated and the changing rooms to the pool were closed meaning you had your walk through the hotel wet!!

I like that the staff are caring to us and to our little maltese Simba.

That we have to pay extra 25 per night night for our dog .Also extra £10 for the car parking to only then if you move yr car in the car park ,you lost your space which you have paid for . The hotel was full of scaffoldings all over ,no phone charger on the bedside .

The room itself was acceptable and provided a reasonable place to sleep. Unfortunately, the positive aspects ended there, as the overall guest experience fell well below expectations.

The room was acceptable, but almost every other aspect of the stay was disappointing. A coach party with bingo and cabaret entertainment created significant noise until around 10:45 pm, which was clearly audible in my ground-floor room. This was not disclosed when booking, and reception showed little interest when the issue was raised, leaving me with very little sleep and a severe headache the following morning. The entrance was dirty, smelled unpleasant and was not welcoming. Breakfast was poorly organised, with an awkward buffet layout, no trays available, and loud music playing. The smokers' area was directly opposite the entrance, meaning guests had to walk through cigarette smoke and discarded cigarette ends. The indifferent attitude of staff at both check-in and check-out only added to the poor experience.

Changing rooms were broken /not available to use at the pool area, so had to go through hotel in wet swjm costumes/ trunks wrapped in towel, or put clothes back on over wet costumes. Scaffolding obscuring view, and couldn't leave windows open for safety reasons as workmen woking and walking up and down. Any dishonest workmen could have easily accessed rooms through windows. It had been a long hot summer with lots of 30c heatwaves.

The efficiency and hardworking staff in the restaurant were brilliant and they were lovely:)And so were the reception staff on the reception desk last sunday morning and the lady last friday night on her own on 4th september (2026)

scaffolding outside our bedroom window , but the property was in the middle of renovation so made allowances for that . And unfortunately the boiler was broken to heat the swimming pool but as we had left temperatures at home of 37 degrees a cold pool was most welcome. I will be back when renovations are complete because overall a nice hotel.

Great hotel we always stay here, staff are lovely, very helpful. Room is clean and beds are comfy, good size. Breakfast has lots of choice, always somewhere to sit , no waiting. Location is right on the front, and also handy for the shops and bus stops. Added bonus is the swimming pool.

There is scaffolding up round the hotel so you could not open your curtains as workmen outside, we came back one day to find our window wedged open with a trowel. No chance of a lie in. The shower and sink are ok if you are very small. The reason I chose this hotel was because of the swimming pool but alas the changing rooms are still not fixed so you would have to get changed in your room. The evening meal I would not book again very bland and tasteless. There is parking at the back of the hotel @ £10 a day. Would I stay here again No lots more hotels to choose from

It was a terrible experience with the Merine Hotel admin as on arrival in the hotel they refused to give us check-in saying there was a booking error which our child with us will not be included in this booking,(although in the booking we found "child stay free") also they wont give us a refund, Hotel admin was very unhelpful and didn't take any initiative to find a solution of it but staright rejection saying "No Check in - No refund", At the same time, we had our 6 years old child with us and we've had nowhere to go in an unknow place.

Overcharging for pets despite being "pet friendly;" £125 a night for the rooms on offer with this factored in is extortionate. Making us book a room at a different hotel because we hadn't pre-booked the dog, rather than asking us to pay the £25 on the night, was inexplicable and appalling customer service. While the £25 fee was waived the second night, I was still reeling from having to spend another £80 on a budget hotel nearby. As well as losing the £100 I was not refunded from The Marine. The room smelt stale, and the room was tired. I wouldn't expect to spend for than £65-£70 a night, pet included, for what they had on offer.

Was told scaffolding would be removed b4 we arrived. Rubbish! Carpets on stairs a safety hazard due to being over 40yrs old.windows would not open.miserable staff. The tetley ale was sour and off. Florescent light in room on 24hrs a day causing disturbed sleep.overall a scruffy old hotel wich really should be around 30 pound per night and not 95 wich I paid. Resulting in us leaving a day early and going somewhere else. Better off staying in a tent.

We thought we would have the evening meal on the Thursday our last night it was shocking mother ordered chicken it was in crumbs rock hard thin with chips it was more like a schnitzel I ordered white fish in sauce with mash it was like a frozen meal warmed up the fish was a block like cook in the bag meals we swopped with each other so she could have her tea as she takes medication after meals, the sweet was nice we went and shared a pizza later on our walk out being the last night

We were in room 310. It was dated but clean. The mattress cover could do with upgrading as you can feel the joint between the two beds. Pillows definitely need replacing. It's a large spacious room that lacks a fridge, but was spotlessly clean. Huge bathroom - I would prefer some bubble bath to enjoy a soak. Toilet wasn't flushing properly which we reported. Breakfast let it down a bit, scrambled eggs were anaemic and fried were like silicone. Mushrooms and sausages were delicious, everything else was ok. The dining area was busy but the staff were attentive and kept it clean.

Mattress cover and pillows need changing. Toilet needs fixing, offer some bubble bath rather than the mixed hair and body shampoo on the wall.
