A hotel with considerable potential; however, based on our experience, a more empathetic, respectful, and professional approach when addressing genuine guest concerns, would substantially enhance the overall guest experience. I believe there is also an opportunity for improvement in the Front of House management team's approach to customer relations and service recovery. Guests who raise concerns should feel that their feedback is acknowledged, respected, and addressed professionally, even in circumstances where management may not ultimately share the guest’s perspective. Of particular concern was an interaction that, in my view, became unnecessarily condescending and appeared focused on determining fault rather than resolving the matter constructively. Effective hospitality is not demonstrated by establishing whether a guest is right or wrong, but by listening carefully, communicating with professionalism and courtesy, and seeking a reasonable and mutually respectful resolution. I fully appreciate that misunderstandings can arise when making online reservations, and I readily acknowledge that I may have misunderstood aspects of the room category description. My dissatisfaction, therefore, stemmed not solely from the accommodation itself, but from the way the situation was managed once the concern had been raised. Ultimately, the quality of hospitality is often measured not by the absence of issues, but by the professionalism, respect, and care shown to guests when challenges arise.

Your breakfast was very bad food wise you did not have a variety, you must only eat what you are given. When the food was finished at 9 when we got there we had to ask and you are suppose to refill. Your bacon also had a funny color, I could be wrong. But as we speak my tummy is troubling me since yesterday didn't even go to work yesterday.

recently stayed at My Pond Hotel in Port Alfred and wow, what a great experience! The room was super neat, clean, and spacious, and had all the amenities you could need. Plus, it overlooked this lovely canal, which made for a pretty awesome view. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was on point. Another big plus: the hotel’s in a great spot, easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and malls. Definitely recommend!”

Patrons were very noisy. Despite the comfortable bed, we barely slept with the passage chatter & partying which were in the early hours of the morning. Management needs better control over guest conduct.

The property is clean and safe, it’s easy to locate as well, we did not get lost at all. Everything is well maintained and looks well kept.

Few bits could have been cleaner. Shower doesn’t drain and hard to stand in as so curved and slippery.

The set up was perfect and the staff was friendly

The manageress, I think Bianca, was absolutely amazing. My 2 year old is a very outspoken child and she handled it extremely well. She walked with her, showed her our room, didn't feel agitated by my daughter's questions. In fact she found it quite entertaining. All the staff members actually were so amazing with my daughter. We felt at home and were treated very well. Besides that, one of our rooms were upgraded complimentary so that we were close to each other. That was also the manageress that arranged it. We are grateful and will be sleeping over again!

The only thing, which understandably cannot always be controlled, were the noise level at night especially between the quiet hours.

The airconditioner dripping all the time and that we could not have a glass of wine as part of our drinks voucher. Who wants a milkshake with your dinner?

Enjoyed the location on the river ; close to restaurants and pub . Netflix available in rooms . Extraordinary friendly staff .

No coffee and tea facilities in the room ; had to use a community facility at the end of a passage which would have been okay if the Hotel would have provided proper mugs instead of expresso cups . No hand soap at the restaurant toilets and our bathroom . We were told they were waiting for ordered soap and received tiny bottles of bodywash instead . Breakfast was terrible . Premixed runny scrambled eggs , basic white and brown bread which took forever to be toasted in their ancient toaster . We had breakfast at the Hotel the first morning and just a toasted hotcross buns on Easter Sunday . We booked and paid for a room with breakfast but opted to rather have an enjoyable breakfast at different coffee shops and carry the additional cost .

Alittle noisy as people come and go early morning and late evenings. The plumbing made strange noises during the night

4 star side if hotel - centre and right side. Outdoor patio area for breakfast. Recommend fairy lights on two beautiful trees for evening dinner atmosphere, would make more inviting.

Left side of hotel with rooms by car park - felt downgraded to 3 star. Noise at night and early morning by car park. Door of outdoor stairway closed for full day at times leaving guest to walk all the way to reception to get to car.

The rooms on the north wing look nothing like in their pictures. It seems the south wing rooms have been renovated, like in their pictures, but the north wing rooms haven't. Our 2 rooms had so many things broken / not working /dirty or unuable, like the window, towel rail, bathroom extractor, cupboard doors. Breakfast selection is very small but manageable. Tiny pool and even smaller pool area that only accommodates 1 family or 2 people at a time.
