Okay hood location
The hotel is in an excellent position by the quay, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Downstairs was a pub with food. Paid parking is available nearby (it is hard to find any free parking in Ilfracombe, although some is available if you have a blue badge).
The room was rather dark as some of the lights did not work. We did not report this simply because we were up and out very early each morning, but felt that had we done so, it would have been dealt with as the staff were super helpful.
Location by the harbour
Lack of parking
Location
Lack of care and maintenance
Location
En-suite stank of urine
Loved the old building. Ideally placed in the town it’s old and wonky and a pub!!
I couldn’t hook my switch up to tv for the kids because it was mounted high on the wall.
Really historic building, I loved it
Nothing
Location
Very hot and room was very tired and a bit grubby
Great location
Very dated and unclean
Lovely staff. Get what you pay for. All amenities present which was handy. Comfy enough beds! Lovely breakfast. Chilled vibe.
Heatwave = boiling hot rooms with no circulation, fans or aircon. Next time would take a fan

Excellent location in Ilfracombe. Great central location. Fabulous harbour view. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great value for money.
The room.was incredibly hot, but it was an exceptionally hot day overall. A fan was provided.
Excellent location, good value for money, great bar and pool table.Outside seating on terrace and food was really good, well presented and great value. Room had fab view of the harbour.
The room (15) was a bit tired and dated and needed a bit of TLC. Lovely big wooden 4 poster bed, but mismatched modern furniture didn't compliment it at all. Room could have been a bit cleaner and aired out. BIG MINUS: our room was not serviced at all, even though we left notice on door handle and were out from appx.11am to 8pm. No clean sheets, towels or drinks items were provided.
Ontzettend aardig personeel, leuke lokatie aan de haven, en direct toegang tot prachtige wandelingen
Bed was verschrikkelijk, hele hotel is toe aan renovatie
The location is fantastic as you are right on the beach. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The downstairs of the hotel looked okay but upon reaching the first and second floors the level of cleanliness dropped dramatically. Everything looked really grubby unfortunately. The guest in the room next door to ours had a dog with them that barked at all hours which woke our toddler up numerous times. Whilst I appreciate there is little that could be done about this, the barking went on all through the night making getting any decent sleep impossible. We booked this very last minute and for a 2 night stay it did the job but there are far nicer places to stay in Ilfracombe so I would avoid this place unless absolutely necessary in the future.
Location was excellent
I know It’s an old building but it was quite grubby. Towels changed but no bed made. No lift and very steep steps
Nothing
Very dirty and very old for the money they ask for
Good location. Room was clean with daily bed making, top up of tea and coffee etc. Nice outside seating area. Staff friendly behind the bar.
Bed was very uncomfortable. Shower room was too small. TV Internet was awful, so couldn't watch anything. Went during hot weather and room fan was broken, a little unit was in there which slowly blew out 16 degree air. Was too hot and stuffy due to this. Stairs a bit steep to upper floor. Cleaner kept leaving washing at bottom of stairs and in the way. Kept having to step over it. Checked out a day early due to really not much sleep for 3 nights. When I checked out early I wasn't asked how my stay was or reason for leaving early.
Not suitable for families. Room was clean.
the overall ambience is not good for families
Price, place.
Close to beach, amazing view, easy to find, room nice - my boys loved the bunk bed and having a window on the top bunk was a plus. Clean bedding. Bar lady lovely, she checked us in whilst running around doing 3 people's jobs - courteous and polite. We would come back 😁
Expensive for what is was. I know it was on the front and only hotel that close to beach/marina but old fashioned, stunk of fags on 1st level but thank fully up towards room 11 no smell. Super creaky floors. No one available to check us in so the bar lady came over and helped.
Nothing
Hotel is very rundown.
Perfect location, friendly staff
Die to the warm weather they need better fans, luckily we had our own in our van
Amazing location right on harbour front. Clean well equipped rooms. Friendly welcoming staff.
The location is perfect, we had a wonderful harbour view. The room was large, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Classic pub facilities. Would recommend.
L'emplacement Petit déjeuner.
Matelas pas confortable. Trop vieux. Parquet bruyant d'un étage à l' autre . Salle de bain dans son jus.
Location
No parking and noisy
Location and staff were very good. Cool pub downstairs.
Small and very basic room with no aircon, very basic breakfast
The location was the only redeeming factor for this hotel and the member of staff in the bar under the hotel for providing ice (on a hot day)
The shower head didn’t fit properly forcing all the water out of the edge of the shower and when used at 1600 the temperature could be best described as tepid. The window in the room had a note saying broken and that you couldn’t open the bottom half, couldn’t get the top half to open. Staff did offer to move us to sister hotel but given that I’d showered already and was leaving at 0730 seemed pointless for a x1 night stay (at that point hadn’t realised the window was broken) Most concerning thing, that when I contacted hotel management after a long delay they advised me that the plumber had said didn’t turn tap on fully. A video was sent with original email clearly showing the problem. So after implying I am incompetent if using the showers they then disengaged from communicating with me further despite x2 further emails from myself. It is not what I’d expect from the hospitality industry if they ever wanted me to frequent them again.
Fantastic Room over looking the harbour, Great terrace to watch the sun set
Nothing
Historic, comfortable, friendly, fantastic location
Nothing, it was all excellent
The location; The large family rooms, and the friendly staff.
Could do with air conditioning units. The room #6 was stifling hot without the ability to open the window any further. Considering they are within reach of the sea, i expected their menu to have locally sourced produce.
Location couldn’t be better.
Nothing really, rooms are fairly basic but fine for me for a couple of nights.
Location was fantastic ,also staff were great
Room was very hot into the night
Perfect location for our Lundy trip, staff were lovely.
We were woken up by someone trying to get into our room at around 2 / 3 am. They eventually made their way into the room opposite us and continued to be incredibly noisy throughout the night until they left. We suspected this was a homeless person being accommodated, which is a wonderful thing but if they need the TV on that loud to sleep then maybe they could be accommodated somewhere not immediately next to other guests... The noise meant we didn't sleep from then onwards and wouldn't stay again. Up until then it had been just what we needed.
Bed was comfy, room was a decent size, plenty of tea tray items, room was clean and tidy stayed for the shanty festival so the location was perfect.
It was super hot, the ceiling fan didn’t create any breeze and the room ran was too small to be effective, we had to borrow a fan from our friends who were staying in an Air b&b. The curtains were hanging off at one end and the rail needs to be secured to the wall as it was pulling out from the wall.
Nahe beim Fährhafen.
Die steilen Treppen.
Great location
All ok
The location is perfect to all access, the harbour in front of you; The Lady of the Harbour; "VERITY" ; she who stands and represents woman, the protector of children; The Birther of the Law. Her symbolism is powerful to say the least...tou have to see her to acknowledge the role of women in building societies and civilisations of people.
If the food had more local components like fresh fish/ beef from local farms. That would keep its authentic feel.
Great location. In the middle of everything you needed
Some staff got drunk from 10am and then was making the breakfast the next day…. Room needy a good clean, loads of hair everywhere and scaffolding up outside our window so debris everywhere. Says on booking.com £10 per night for dog but got there and £15 per night. Also says parking but parking £15 per day, so many add ons…..
Location was good, check in was easy and pleasant
The room overlooked the terrace and under the window was a speaker playing music till 11pm! So no sleep till that stopped. The facilities were basic at best. Not as described. This was supposed to have been a romantic break away but in fact we left on our second night at 830pm cause there was live music on in the bar under our room! The breakfast room was dingy. Coffee disgusting. Only redeeming feature was the cooked breakfast was nice. I wouldn't go back again that's for sure. Also when we asked for clean towels one of them looked like some one had cleaned their rugby boots on them!
Room was very dusty, we even took the opportunity to write “clean me” in the dust.
Not a lot
Not a place for a single lady All double yellow line Expensive daily parking Clientele in bar dubious Lack of staff

The staff were very friendly and helpful, I was supposed to be coming with a friend, but my friend couldn't come in the end and as I didn't need the twin room anymore I asked if I could downgrade to a single room and maybe get my friends money back, but as unfortunately the single rooms were taken instead the hotel upgraded me to a double room, which I thought was really kind of them as they didn't have to do that, but were kind enough to do so anyway. To be clear I didn't get my friends money back but I was happy with the outcome regardless. Also the hotel is in amongst everything you could need for your holiday, your right on the seafront, with shops scattered around and my favourite restaurant is just across from the hotel called the smugglers, it's a expensive restaurant but very much worth the money.
My stay wasn't long enough, as could only afford the 2 nights.
Set right in the heart of Ilfracombe. I had a room overlooking the harbour. Very spacious room with adequate en suite.
Location
Good central location
Booking said 4 poster bed but we didn’t get one!
Great location. Friendly staff. Clean facilities.
Breakfast not the best value for money but it was tasty. I felt I could have eaten more.
As living previously in Ilfracombe I know this hotel is a great location, right by the sea front. Bus stop literally around the corner to take you to Barnstaple. Parking is hit and miss especially during season. Plenty of shops down along the pier
Lovely room lovely view. Clean. Good value for price
Excellent location and right on the seafront. Rooms a little dated but clean but it didn’t affect our comfort and stay.
The pillows could do with renewing they were a bit flat.
Good location. Very clean. Friendly and helpful staff.
all fine
Great location Room was spacious
Sand seemed to be all over the place!
Location amazing Breakfast excellent 5 different orders and as requested all done to perfection and hot
Room was like a sauna Lots of stairs. Carpets dated and seen better days Bathroom in room 6 shower needs attention
The room was very clean and we could see the staff care and clean. All staff was also very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very old and the owner should consider major refurbishment.
No air conditioner in the room was a big problem especially that the temperature outside was 25-27 degrees. On a first day we didn't have hot water and all the other three days we had some problems with hot water as well.
Room was nice and clean, lovely shower.
Parking is very expensive unless you are happy to walk some distance to the hotel. We parked at the carpark off High Street - £10 for 24 hours - 15-20 mins walk.
Location and staff
Room was terrible. Mixer in the shower not working. Windows not stopping any noise from outside. All very run down.
Convenient for yacht club
Stairs and position of my room on side of building
Location was great, near the harbour. Nice to have tea and coffee making facilities.
The showerhead leaked making water squirt the wrong way.
View out over the harbour
Lady behind the bar was lovely but it took almost 45 minutes to check in as the manager disappeared and didn't turn up when she called. The room didnt have a window that opened and smelt of dog, it was dirty and very dusty.
Very accommodating staff, good shower, great location at the harbour. Good value for your money.
On Saturday there was life music in a bar close by which was a bit loud. Also, the doors close loudly.
Location was beautiful.
Poor standard of hotel. In need of serious renovations. Looks old and tired.
Clean and comfortable.
Not all the windows open so some rooms you cannot enjoy the sounds of the harbour
