The location was central with easy access to amenities. Easy check-in and check-out. Privacy. The staff being friendly and helpful. The accommodation was spotless, the beds very comfortable and the shower was great. I also liked the welcome basket. The flowers on the outside window sill. The hotel is committed to an environmental friendly service.

The staff are lovely. Such amazing atmosphere. I can't wait to stay again. The room is lovely. Had issues getting back in but other than that. Amazing stay staff there are so accommodating and happy people that are laid back and really great people made for hospitality. I can't recommend this place enough. Especially if your going to get away with a partner or your children. You feel welcomed and they make you feel like your at home.

Being locked out however this issue was sorted immediately and staff were amazing. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

The bed was so comfy, the room was lovely- service and hospitality was so good. They went out of their way to give us an iron and they were so friendly and accommodating, will definitely stay here again! They also had a car parking spot that we could have free of charge for the duration of our stay, thank you so much.

The atmosphere and the staff just welcome you like family. i've forgotten the young man and young lady but their both a credit to the royal hotel and bar. I felt like I was at home and when I explained to the lovely cleaning ladies about me spilling coffee they instantly eased my anxiety and worry saying they'd sort it. It was last minute booking but everything was so beyond my expectations room and shower room were lovely even down to breakfast was provided. Fresh towels shampoo conditioner soap hair dryer fan extra pillows and little desk area then a little space for tea or coffee drinkers. Lighting was great and privacy is to high standards. Genuinely will be only place in Lancaster I'd stay at now.

So second night my key didn't work on gate door to get in and telly didn't work but nothing that can't be solved by your lovely hard working staff.

It’s a room only Hotel but the room could not be better. Real coffee, breakfast snacks and every thought put into comfort. The staff were very welcoming and all facilities were perfect. It is right in the middle of Lancaster within easy walking distance of great pubs and restaurants, and good shopping the next day! I will definitely stay here again.

No parking at property although a long stay car park is nearby. Discounted parking would have been appreciated as in other places. Not too keen on the breakfast pack left in the room.

Saturday afternoon, England are playing tonight. Outside DJ was absolutely terrible. Playing music nobody wanted and told me that he doesn’t care what music we want and he will play what he wants. Such a shame

Great location! The room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. I really appreciated the complimentary snacks and porridge for breakfast, which were replenished daily. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. A fantastic place to stay—I would definitely recommend it!

Exceptional stay. Room was spotless and bed extremely comfortable. I really liked the free breakfast croissants and coffee in the room. Came very in handy after a night out in Lancaster !

I did not know how to shut the blind in the ceiling and the room became very bright at sunrise. Realised there is a switch on the wall to control the blind just before I checked out. A sticker labelling the switch would be useful !

One word for this hotel.. Fantastic!!! Lilly's warm welcome set the tone for our stay! Arrived early so had a drink in the clean, modern bar. Lilly took time to chat and answer questions which helped to get the best out of our stay. We didn't have much time as we were seeing a show in the evening. The room was lovely! Huge bed. Quality bedding, towels and fixtures. A lovely thoughtful touch of a complimentary breakfast of instant oats, croissant, biscuits and juice was sat on the bed presented in a cute basket..what a lovely kind gesture given the current climate for hospitality!!. Bathroom was spotless. Security is EXCELLENT!! This hotel deserves all the great reviews... They go ABOVE AND BEYOND to make your stay exceptional!! Do not hesitate to book here you will not be disappointed!!! Thank you Lilly and team.!! We had a lovely stay and will DEFINITELY be back!!!!

Ideally situated for town. The host Nina was welcoming and helpful, we like to book in and be left to do our own thing and she was perfectly happy with this,which was appreciated.The breakfast basket was a nice touch too. Everything was clean and fresh so looking forward to returning.

If I could rate it more than 5 stars I would. Deserves more than thr 3 star rating on booking.com Last min booking a few hours before arrival. Staff were so accommodating and really polite. There is a young lady A young gentleman And the bar manager Didn't catch the names however they are a credit to the hotel. Rooms clean and lovely also cool. They give a breakfast box as a goodwill gesture its a really nice touch. The lady explained the amenities so well and we were well informed. It was a busy Sunday in the beer garden however the team worked tirelessly to ensure the queues went down quickly Honestly after not having the best of days with another accommodation we were stressed and warm however soon as we arrived due to staff and atmosphere it was a distance memory. Well done guys we will be back

It was close to the Lancaster Market with shopping and restaurants within walking distance distance. The staff was amazing and helpful. I would definitely stay there again

Amazing staff, very friendly, helped when our fan in the room stopped working and sorted the issue straight away. Great facilities too! Comfy beds as well. Next time in Lancaster would definitely be coming back!!

This was the cleanest room I have ever stayed in, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the included in the very reasonably room price coffee biscuits and other freebies where excellent.

The only issue was the shower door needs a slight repair as it didn't meet correctly. I'm sure it will be sorted.

If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. We used to live in Lancaster many years ago and, for some reason, never quite gave the Royal Hotel a chance. Looking back now , how wrong we were. We recently stayed overnight due to hospital and dental appointments, and from the moment we arrived, everything exceeded expectations. For just £80, we were given a magnificent room, spacious, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and with an incredibly comfortable super king bed. We stayed in Room 1, and it was faultless. The attention to detail was just exceptional. The pub itself is full of charm, with a wonderful, almost “treasure trove” selection of snacks, everything from sweet treats to savoury bits. The beer garden is simply idyllic, with fresh flowers that make it feel so welcoming and well cared for. But what truly made the stay unforgettable was the staff. The two ladies who served us were outstanding, warm, attentive, and genuinely couldn’t do enough for us. Even though breakfast isn’t usually included, they kindly provided a tray with croissants, porridge, and juice, which was such a thoughtful touch and completely above and beyond. Every single member of the team, from the bar staff to the chambermaids, was cheerful, helpful, and made us feel genuinely valued. It’s rare to come across service like this. We left feeling refreshed, happy, and honestly “on top of the world” after such a wonderful night’s sleep. From now on, we wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else in Lancaster. The Royal Hotel is an absolute gem and a must-stay. Thank you

The room was a bit cold couldn’t get the radiator to turn on .. though they had left instructions it didn’t seem to work

Ideal location with a car park right beside the hotel. The staff were lovely and friendly. Our room was modern, clean, the bed was very comfortable and there was even a breakfast tray with porridge, orange juice, croissants and breakfast bars which was a lovely touch.

As usual.our stay at this marvellous hotel was exemplary as always. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The location is excellent. We can't walk very far and find this hotel ideal for getting in and out of town as it is minutes away. The room is lovely, the bed actually has a mattress that is comfortable and cost more that £2.50 unlike a.lot of establishments! We cannot recommend this hotel.more highly.

It is not a dislike but it would be nice to have a comfy chair or small sofa.to sit and relax on as the room is big enough.

Staff were incredibly friendly and the room was lovely. They'd thought of lots of things like how to get back into the room at night once the pub was shut and even though they don't serve food, they left a breakfast basket for us.

Lovely old hotel with a great bar & open fire that we managed to get a seat beside for a wee wine. Fairly central location - not too far to train station if you are walking and easy access to canal, shops, bars, cafes etc Would totally book this hotel again if I was visiting Lancaster again (which I likely will as I really liked it!)

Welcoming reception, spotlessly clean room, quiet despite being in the centre of town and a very comfortable bed on which I got 10+ hours sleep! Extremely good value for money.

Fantastic location for shopping and the theatre which was the main purpose of our visit. Lovely room, impressed that we had a breakfast box! And the pub and beer garden were fab too.

This is a review of the bar only. Last year the bar wasn’t open to non-residents (as far as we could tell) when we stopped in the area between Christmas and New Year but this year we popped in on the Tuesday afternoon before the New Year crowds. It was quiet, but that gave us opportunity to have a nice chat with a local customer and also get some friendly guidance from the bar staff on the gin and tonic front – very enjoyable! Lovely Christmas decorations too! A very pleasant and relaxing interlude. The white wine was, apparently, up to scratch too. There were 2-3 real ales on tap if I had been in the mood. A nice watering hole for a quiet afternoon.

Great location in the centre of town and despite being on a busy street, double-glazing more than coped with traffic noise. Large and airy, clean en-suite rooms (14 in all) over several floors (no lifts). Set of keys enabled freedom of movement when bar was shut. No food service but plenty of nearby eating places. Excellent customer service, strongly recommend.
