Single room very hot and (this was not during a heatwave), aircon didn’t work sash window only able to be open about 2cm max. Very strange set up re wardrobe. There wasn’t one- a hanging rail( no room for a wardrobe) was in a small cupboard ( no door on it) above a shelf which had the kettle and tea/coffee facilities on it. No room for any lengthy clothes like dresses- tops and trousers over the hangers just fitted above the items stated above. No usb sockets near the bed. One wall had uk twin uk 3pin sockets. Table lamps had round 3 pins plugs on so no use for chargers etc. Socketry was an extension lead fixed to the back wall of the cupboard (with 2 usb sockets and 4/5 3uk pin sockets) the lead ran the length of an adjacent wall, (opposite the end of bed) beneath the radiator, and was plugged into another socket further along. Pillows very hard.

Everything was done to a very high standard. The staff were more than welcoming and offered to help move luggage etc.

Excellent service. Staff went the extra mile was very welcoming so friendly. Warm quiet atmosphere. Food was amazing .we will be staying again and definitely eating in the hotel .Big thumbs 👍 up to all the staff front and back house .Thanks for wonderfull stay 😀

Central location - access to the city on the doorstep.

There’s no immediate parking and breakfast was a long wait (1 hour) - mediocre when it arrived. The hotel was understaffed. Shower water pressure was poor. No complimentary bottled water in the room. No great value at all£130 for the night (single occupancy double)

It was noisy from outside and kept me awake. Too hot without the window open and fan going. The bed pelmet needed cleaning. Parking is between 6pm and 8pm outside if you can get in.

Schönen kleines Schnuckeliges Hotel im Zentrum von Lancaster. Das Castle ist innerhalb von 5 min Fußläufig erreichbar. Das Zimmer war sehr Sauber, war schön Groß, hatte ein schönes Badezimmer und das Bett war sehr bequem. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und sehr Kompetent. Das Resturant war sehr gut und Lecker und Flexibel was extrawünsche an gerichten belangt. Lage war Top direkt an der Innenstadt und am Castle. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Leider kein Fahrstuhl und kein Kühlschrank vorhanden gewesen.

Really warm, helpful and sincere reception. We had been upgraded for free with an already very reasonable price. Everything in our room was you'd wish. The breakfast was very good. All the staff are very helpful. The hotel is charming and historic. Ad the local beers are amazing!

Very conveniently located for the train station, great atmosphere in the evening, very clean bedroom with comfortable beds and great breakfasts. We ordered ours the night before and were not disappointed. Only minor points would be the noisy streets and the night lights in the bedrooms but I had earplugs and eye mask and slept like a log ! I would book again

We liked the fact that it was central and part of a pub, which was very efficient.

It was a bit noisy at night/early morning with people and heron birds. There was no lift which did not matter to us but anyone with mobility issues would struggle.

The security. Anyone can enter the hotel and the rooms section without being challenged on the motive of visit

Great location near the priory and castle, right in the heart of the city. Room was very comfortable, a bit on the small side but we booked a small double so can't complain! Surprisingly quiet being above the pub during the World Cup.

A lovely town centre hotel with pretty and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is fabulous, freshly cooked to order and tasty. I had limited time in the morning of the first night and my full English was ready within minutes of me sitting down at the pre-booked time. Very friendly and helpful staff in the hotel, bar and restaurant areas. 24 hour access with my own key was handy. My second trip and I would definitely stay again.

Location was great, staff were excellent and very friendly. Can't remember the girl I spoke to, she was blonde and studied at Uni of Lancaster but she made me feel very welcome when checking me in. Very nice hotel which was built in the 17th century if I remember correctly, and is a listed building. Quite a maze in there, so it is possible to get lost, but that's okay because the lobby and corridors were really pretty. I don't drink, but I was told by a colleague that this is his go to pub. I had the vegan breakfast and it was excellent.

For some reason, my bathroom light didn't work. I mentioned it to staff and they provided 3 very dim lamps which made for a cool ambience but wasn't really able to see properly haha (it did enough though)

I booked the hotel after seeing the picture and reviews and I'm pleased to say that everything exceeded our expectations. When we walked in the staff welcomed us straight away and were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was stunning and we loved the feel and look of everything in there. Our room was a beautiful, clean suite and it felt extravagant to have the roll top bath as well as the shower. The whole design and presentation was fabulous! Everything was in the room to have an excellent stay, so all boxes were ticked! We had such a good sleep and had a tasty breakfast in the morning. We also spotted lots of other food that we would have tried, had our stay been longer. Every member of staff we spoke to were so helpful and genuine, it was lovely and felt like we were talking to friends. I also loved the plaques on the walls that gave historical insight as to how the building would have been used back in the day. We will definitely go back again for a staycation

The location was very good for central Lancaster and the pub was a in a very nice old character building. The bed was good and towels good quality and size. The staff were very friendly.

The room was rather small and dark, and in the heat thankfully they provided a fan as the room was very stuffy. The shower room had no windows and was very dark, the light over the mirror didn't work however much we tried. Better and updated lighting would be a huge improvement. The shower didn't work well, basic toiletries only. The TV did not show all channels reliably, we could not get a good BBC service. There is no desk in the room, a small dressing table only. Room decor quite dark and tired but thankfully we were there very little.

What a brilliant stay we had! Everything was wonderful, our suite was fantastic, the bed was so comfortable!!! All the staff we met were friendly the decor was beautiful and the breakfast just WOW its honestly the best vegetarian breakfast I've had anywhere, my husband said the traditional full English breakfast was 11/10 very good quality and worth every penny of the £12. Location was great aswell.....what's not to like, absolutely would stay again

A big far nothing

Very clean and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Central location, within easy walking distance of everywhere. Fabulous breakfast 😋

No on-site parking due to central location, but secure car park 5mins walk away.

The personnel was friendly, helpful and welcoming. The restaurant was very convenient with a good selection of meals and the hotel is very well situated, close enough to the attractions and shops to do everything on foot, but far enough from the centre of town not to be disturbed after the English team won a world cup match!!

Unfortunately my room was very hot, and the old, thick stone walls retained the heat and did not cool down, even when temperatures dropped at night, and the sash window only opened a few centimetres. 28 - 29°C constantly. There was a fan and the staff gave me a bucket of ice, so that I could make myself comfortable, but be aware in a heatwave.

Staff so nice and helpful. Beautifully decorated, quiet, lovely bar areas, really comfortable and great location with a restaurant on-site. Good value too.

The venue was super modern, clean and comfortable but to top it off the staff were not only professional, clearly good at their work but also brilliantly helpful.

Centre of the city. Food and drink was fantastic.

We had no issues, but we stayed in suite 15 and we were unable to use the shower as whatever temperature you put it on it was scolding. This wasn't an issue as we had a roll top bath so we just let a member of staff know when we checked out. The staff are fantastic.

Lancaster one way system!!

The Sun is steeped in history, and is only a couple of minutes walk from Lancaster Castle. The room was well equipped and clean, with a comfortable bed. Look out for the glass covered well in the back room in the restaurant, and make sure to read the plaques on the walls which provide interesting facts. Breakfast was good, with a wide variety of options, and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

It could simply be our food choice, but the burger we had for dinner was average at best.

I have stayed here before so knew what to expect and had chosen accordingly. Lovely old building but with nice rooms, clean and well appointed with all the usual amenities. Great location very close to the station. This is primarily a pub with rooms- the pub is great with a great selection of real ales - I didn't eat here apart from breakfast but the menu looked good. My chosen room was the 'cosy' double which means it is a small room but adequate certainly for a one night stay. Great staff very welcoming

Excellent hotel, staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Rooms are lovely and comfortable, very clean. The hotel location is excellent and very close to bus station and shopping, restaurants.

Parking was an issue. There isn't alot of areas to park in. Overnight you can park free onstreet parking 8am to 6pm. After that you have 1hr max stay so you'll need to move car to another location. Plenty of places to park in the town and walk back to the hotel.

Ein sehr schönes Hotel in einem alten Stadthaus mit Pub und Restaurant im Erdgeschoss. Das Zimmer unter dem Dach war sehr schön, wenn auch mit 71 Stufen etwas mühsam für Asthmatiker. Wir würden es trotzdem jederzeit wieder nehmen. Das Essen im Restaurant war sehr gut und reichlich . Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam.

Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche war etwas lau, was aber an dem Alter des Gebäudes und der Höhe liegen könnte.

Located in the heart of Lancaster the location is ideal for walking around the area . Very welcoming staff on arrival and the beer garden to the rear in the sunshine was fabulous . Our suite was very spacious and clean and very light
